Have you tried this method? Make sure you have the LG ADB drivers and the phone in USB debugging mode.

This method is for lg optimus 3d
But i also tried it and i got this;

[Q] [n00b] How to Root Skyrocket Gingerbread 2.3.6 on a Mac?

I am a n00b here, to Android (defected iphone user), and a n00b at rooting so please be patient and kind...
I have an intel iMac, a Samsung Skyrocket running 2.3.6 that I just bought last week. I want to root it. I have stuck with the simplest route that my iPhone warped brain can deal with which is the Easy-Root method outlined here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1340710
I think I am missing something here (obviously, because root is unsuccessful)
This is what I end up with on terminal

Hi Lord0KK, did that work for you? I am having the same error messages you pasted above while trying to root my Skyrocket and I couldn't find a solution.
I'm pretty sure that Heimdall doesn't work for our device. I think you need Odin to root 2.3.6 unfortunately. There's always vmware. I heard about people successfully Odining using that. Good luck.
Any luck rooting 2.3.6 yet?

Confirming to many apps. Keeping Megatron Root from Working.
I upgraded my LG Thrill to Gingerbread 2.3.5, that went pretty well, and it worked perfectly.
My Problem came when I tried to Root the phone once again. I tried Superoneclick, it failed. Gingerbreak "Failed". Z4 "Failed".
Everything I found while searching the web pointed me to Megatron Root. A number of people had good luck and it worked perfectly. Then there were people like me who tried over and over to get the process to work, it continued to Fail as well.
Back to Google searching for more information, I found that many other people were also having the same issue. The Solution Return to Phone to Factory Preset, remove the fmradio, and finally that I had too many apps loaded on to my phone.
I believe that one of the apps loaded on my phone had a hand in blocking the Rooting process. Without knowing which one and with some frustration, I started uninstalling programs. Radios, Police Scanners, QR Readers, Graphics Programs, Skype, ES File, ES Task monitor, and my backup program. In all I got rid of about 20 programs, several which worked at root level. Which I also read could be the cause of the Megatron root Failing.
Once I removed all of the extra programs, plus programs working as Superuser, I ran Megatron again. Well it worked, this time when I ran the program it went through perfectly. No Errors, it performed just as the program was intended. The verified end result was that my LG Thrill 925P V20P Thrill was rooted once again.
My suggestion is to remove some of the programs that you installed. Networking, Picture editors, Scanning, file managers etc. Anything that might have a hand in controlling a input device, or a output device. I didn't worry about games, I even left on the Basic Root Check program.
Try this process, it worked for me, and I hope it will work for you too.

i got the same problem
After i got same problem, I solved with few simple steps :
- turn of device
-boot in recovery
-wipe everything
-restart phone
-now apply Megatron root without any problem.
in my case it didn't work because I had airplane mode on. SuperOneClick failed anyway (first time was caught by antivirus but after I disabled antivirus it failed just the same. Can't tell if antivirus deleted something from SuperOneClick as it sometimes quarantines stuff)
Megatron wrote evil.apk, rebooted, tried something (think it failed), rebooted again, did something else (said it failed the success), rebooted again, said exploit complete then iRoot who I had opened at the same time reported phone already rooted

[Q] Unable to root device after unbrickin (actual versio v21e)

Hello ppl.
First of all i have to say that this is my first post but i've been reading this forum for a quite long time and you guys rock!
Well let's get to the problem i'm facing.
I have an P920H from Brazil and i've rooted it with mastermind method (dunno if that's the exactly name, but it's master something, sorry )
No problem with that, all worked flawlessly.
Then i decided to flash Prometheus custom rom and kernel v21 version
No problem with that either, all good to go.
But the thing is that i realized that i flashed the wrong baseband (didn't read about it to be honest.. guess i should have flashed 1.5 [based on v20 and not 1.5+]. ok i'm a dumbass) and then i got no signal from my operator.
After that i tried to restore a backup that i had made with rom manager... an error ocurred and my phone bricked, got stuck on LG logo.
And then, after reading tons of topics I could restore it and made it boot.
That's when my problem came.
My phone still is using prometheus kernel i guess, and is on v21e (originally was on v20a).
Master method and superone click just can't root it and I cant install another firmware over it. It just warns about errors and said it can't find SU bla bla.
What do you guys think I should do? I want to go back to my original firmware or install the correct custom rom but can't get root.
Thanks in advance.
Dan Rosenberg to the rescue... Thanks Dan!
To make it short try using Megatron Root by Dan Rosenberg (thanks Dan) which is designed for v21e. A link you can find it here or search the Optimus 3D forums (or LG Thrill). Hope that helps. It worked for me, using now WaterBear Rom on v21e
thanks man, will give it a try on that link.
I dunno if i had an previous version of that (magatron root) but I've tried it with no luck. Perhaps I did something wrong.
Anyway thanks :good:

Here is how
First ive tried the method above and it didnt work, actually i was still with the same firmware version (21e)
So no good.
(Btw i`m running Windows 7 64 bits on bootcamp, but it should work for Windows 7 in general)
The solution is quite simple, right click ond adb.exe and under preferences set it to compatibility mode Windows XP and check run as administrator.
then execute the bat file as administrator also and you should be rooting just fine.

[GUIDE] [TOOL] Rooting the "First ICS 4.0.4 Full 3D ROM Ported From SU760"

UPDATE: This didn't work for me on the official ICS ROM. YMMV.
I did try this guide:
[GUIDE] [SU760] How to ROOT V29C/D ICS
but it didn't work for me...
So I tried the script posted here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31963526&postcount=532
and it worked really well!
Steps
--------------
* Get version 1.2 of adb_restore_rooting if you can't unpack v1.6 with your current unzipper
* Unpack the archive
* Turn on USB debugging on your phone (Developer options)
* Execute rooting.bat
* Follow the instructions on screen
* When it says "Done!", press return on your PC and it should complete the process.
Note: For those who really want to use v1.6, install 7-zip (http://www.7-zip.com/). Thanks MoYo!
thanx bro.
Cheers mate first method failed for me also this worked a treat wkpark strikes again
Just to be correct, before to call a method "failed" maybe should be more important to know pre-requisites and why for some people may look to fail.
Anyway yes it's more easy with an automatic script

Indeed. I got the exact same message over and over.
I think the script from wkpark does a better job cleaning things up before trying to root it again.
This method is easier well done.
Help please
For a simpleton such as myself can someone please give me a step by step on how to make this work?
It seems I need Linux to run a SH file? Alot to ask but can someone let me know how to do this on windows7 please
This Softbricked my phone, when I tried to restart it.

I've updated the instructions, the sh file was a mistake
Worked like a charm, thank you!
Worked perfect, thanks.
For those who have problems with the v1.6 of the archive -> Try 7-zip (http://www.7-zip.com/)
It's packed with 7-zip and you can extract it with it

I did try this guide:
[GUIDE] [SU760] How to ROOT V29C/D ICS
but it didn't work for me...
So I tried the script posted here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=31963526&postcount=532
and it worked really well!
Steps
--------------
* Get version 1.2 of adb_restore_rooting if you can't unpack v1.6 with your current unzipper
* Unpack the archive
* Turn on USB debugging on your phone (Developer options)
* Execute rooting.bat
* Follow the instructions on screen
* When it says "Done!", press return on your PC and it should complete the process.
Note: For those who really want to use v1.6, install 7-zip (http://www.7-zip.com/). Thanks MoYo!

I did get this once. I set the USB setting to LG software and let it settle. No idea if this is a requirement.

Same here, tried it the second time now with 1.2. After hitting the restore button on the device, the console on pc said that rooting failed.
Then after trying to restart it gets stuck after the LG logo at a black screen.
Edit: Last try with 1.6 now.
Edit 2: Nah, still don't work. The error-log says this: "remote object '/data/local.prop' does not exist"

Had the same problem... i used lg mode in usb settings. then installed the autorun and wait for some while, even if it is already installed. Reboot computer, and your ready to go
good luck :good:

Wtf its not rooting?

I just tried rooting my phone and it keeps saying unable to copy the file on everything and it`´s not permitted.... I tried rooting with some old guides I found because I was checking my phone and I´m still on android version 4.03 and builder number 1.85...it would just not do anything not It´s not letting me install any kind of apps in the app store, but everything else is working. So i tried the 2.02 version and it doesn´t give me the 11111111 code at the end. Is there something wrong with the phone or could it be the drivers? All the guides I found gave the drivers that installed them on their own.
Also could it be that I´m in mexico and the phone was sent from the us? its the at&t one. I´m so lost now that I had the guts to root it. -.-

You will have to use the 1.85 method which is best. To use the 2.20 method you would need to download the 2.20 update. But best to use the 1.85 method I think. I'll see about fetching a link.
Here ya go. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1709296
I do not suggest rooting/unlocking bootloader If it seems too difficult.

I don¨t understand the su and adb thing it asks me... I saw in a post that there is still a one click rooter, which is what I was using and I get the error of

The 2.20 root will work on any of them...it exploits the same thing ...

The 1.85 one-click method no longer works (hasn't for a long time). The one linked by exad above is the only working method that is specific to 1.85.
But as stated by kittens above, the X-factor exploit not only works on 2.20, but should also work on previous firmwares. Try either the toolkit, or the "manual" X-factor method.
If you don't understand what SU and adb are, you probably shouldn't mess around with any of these things. Do a lot more research and learning, before you get rooting.
Ah I wasn't sure that the X Factor method works on 1.85. Whenever I suggest it people reply that it says explicitly that it doesn't work on 1.85. Though, when I read it, I did not notice that. In any case, *shrug* there ya go op. Good luck! Read lots.

Aye I just tried it with a one click installed and got a Supersu app...when I try opening it, it says that "there is no su binary installed, and the super su cannot install it. This is a problem"???

I think that message it gave you was kinda clear there is no Su files or binary installed to give you root access..
I see...so do I have to do it again? I don't get the su going in adb...I tried posting there, but it doesn't let me post >.<

Idk the steps for unlocking a phone under 1.85, but I'm sure you will need to know how to set up and use adb. Take your time. Don't rush
