you can try backing up your stuff with titanium backup and then doing a factory reset and start from scratch or you can look for the stock rom zip online and flash that...

What's the best way to recover from a bad flash. I am currently rooted and on a bloat free stock rom. If I try to load another rom and it does not work out, can I come back to my present ROM state? Any instructions on how to do that?
Thanks

All this info is found by searching. Look into nandroid backup. This is done from recovery.
Do a nandroid Backup!
Hi guys, I need a little help from you. So far I was using stock JPS and found a stock JPU without bootloaders on one thread here so I decided to give it a go. Installed it, made factory reset and everything worked. Then I decided to root it using superoneclick root which I was always using to root my phone. After rooting (also installed busybox) once again I've factory reseted my phone, but after reset I had no sound at all-no ringtone, no music... nothing. I went back to old JPS and after reseting it it all went back to normal. Does anyone know what could be the reason for this because I have been rooting all stock softwares with superoneclick and never had a problem?
Hi , Why you don't flash another ROM via Odin ?

False information. ODIN doesn't root phone automatically. It's the ROM you flash that has to be pre-rooted for your phone to be rooted after flashing through ODIN. Anyway, try flashing a JPU based custom ROM such as Kyrillos 9.5.

I have installed many custom ROM-s with JPU as base and all worked well. But I like to use stock ROM because with it and G3 mod kernel I can get up to 5 days of battery life, and only 2 to 3 days on custom ROM-s. Anyway, I have solved the problem by reinstalling JPS and rooting it with superoneclick. Thank you guys for your answers
well...
take that:

-> XXJPU stock, deodexed, prerooted
originally found here but multiupload is down
Happy flashing with ODIN.

Hi all,
I got a verizon samsung galaxy s3 about a week ago and immediately flashed the pre-rooted stock ROM and then unlocked bootloader and flashed CM10 with success. I have been using it and enjoy the ROM but want to experiment with the stock (rooted) touchwiz ROM because some of the features seemed nice.
I downloaded the pre-rooted ROM which comes up if you search that term and verizon galaxy s3. I flashed it to my phone using Odin as instructed and it says "pass!" But the phone will not boot past the "Samasung Galaxy S3" splash screen. I tried clearing user data/factory reset from recovery but still does not boot. I was able to restore my previous CM10 backup using recovery, thank god, but still I'm unable to flash the original stock-prerooted ROM and boot. I tried it about 4 times with two different downloads and two different versions of Odin.
Is there a version which I can flash from CWM rather than going through Odin? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
There's plenty of stock roms, such as cleanrom, synergy, bean's, which will all give you the stock experience plus some. Did you make a backup after you rooted? That should always be the FIRST thing you do after you root.

No I did not unfortunately. Which of those ROMs you mentioned would you recommend? I liked the contact groups, Swype contact to call or text, but not the bloatware.
Why not try CleanROM??

Thanks y'all. Just downloaded and flashed CleanROM. What a fancy installer.
I made a GOBackup of my apps and messages/calls prior to flashing the new ROM. I can restore that to this different ROM, right?
Thanks again
I have p3100. I just installed Cyanogen Mod 10.1 M2 on my galaxy tab P3100 .
I am not liking this rom . No offense. But the stock Rom was far better.
My plan now is to install Sungsonic Hd. It looks cool and have all the features of Stock with extra features.
Now, AFAIK before installing this rom, i have to revert back to 4.1.1 from 4.2.2. (because sungsonic is based on 4.1.1) Right? If not please correct me.
Now, please tell me if i can directly install sungsonic hd? or if i have to install the stock firmware?
If i have to return to stock firmware, how can i do that?
Important
I have Odin3 1.85. The stock Rom file and ARIESVE.ops (somewhere i found that this file is needed to revert back to stock rom) ..
Now how do i use these files and return to stock rom? Please xplain it in steps if possible. Also tell me what do i need to wipe and etc. Like do i need to do wipe cache etc?
Thank you guys. I love XDA developers btw. :good:
/ok guys.
Now what I did is that i installed Sungsonic by CWR mode by choosing zip from sd card. I wpied all cache and did factory reset.. everything as the page of this rom suggested.
I have been able to install this rom easily but i think something is wrong. 4 or 5 apps are not opening properly. When i click on widgets bar, the system ui crashes..
Now, how am i supposed to revert back to stock rom ?Now my current ROM is Sungsonic rom
You should have made a backup of your stock ROM, before flashing anything. This would have made recovery quite easy.
Well, i didnt make any backup or anything.
Now, can i revert back to stock rom?
Well, guys i just installed the custom rom by choosing stock rom md5 file in pda. Then installed.
All went sleekly. Thank you guys. Now I will be Installing a new rom again. Please delete this thread mods.
Phone is rooted, CWM installed latest, recovery e3 does not check signatures.
Can I just create nandroid backup, wipe phone and install this one rom for example?

Yep.. You take a backup, wipe cache, data and dalvik cache. You are ready to flash your custom rom.. But while changing kernels you gotta flash your stock rom+stock kernel then root then flash new kernel then the custom rom.

Appreciate. So I now will backup and wipe everything and then update it with kies mini. And then will ask more about custom stuff, am I doing right?
The problem about SGS4G is that it is WAY TOO MUCH information about it as well as kernels, mods, articles and you are lost because some of them conflicts with other.
P.S. I spent a week for going into Android stuff and Galaxy S.

Well.. If you were talking bout updating your stock rom using kies... I dont see any use of that if you are going to flash a custom rom. Its just mere waste of time.

it's because 2.2 version is so hard for modding that I didn't risk to update from it.
Now I have modded kernel on stock 2.3.6. And thinking about what ROM to use.
Here is a link I found recently and it is so very helpful! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1470716

The guide seems good enough but a bit more complicated that it should be. Anyway here are two tips or info for you. First, whatever you do, have Odin and Stock Firmware ready to flash coz when everything else fails, Odin to the rescue and also flash stock firmware (Rom+kernel) whenever you change kernel as changing kernels without doing so removes root access and you cant apply root update on a custom kernel unless it has pre root access. Second, you dont need any kind of manager to flash firmwares and updates. CWM is a replacement to all. But its all your choice.
