...which is not too expensive
I've managed to find some good tablets: TF101 and Galaxy Tab 10.1
I've already tried the tab with touchscreentune (using hands) and it is very responsive, is it the same for tf? Any suggested pen I might use?
I'm totally new to the tablet world :good:

I recently recieved a Samsung Galaxy 7.0 (GT-p6210) as a gift. However, I was comparing prices on bestbuy and saw that I could get the TF300T-B1-BL-CB for about 50$ more. I compared the specifications and it seems that the Acer, in addition to having a larger screen, has a newer processor as well as ICS. I'm just wondering if I am overlooking anything significant. I know size is something to be considered issue but is there anything else I should take into consideration? Can anybody shed some light on what I should do?
Thanks
EDIT: As Mikehud1984 pointed out, the tf300t is made by ASUS not Acer. Typed the post too quickly evidently
First the tf300t is an ASUS not an Acer. Secondly I too was in the same boat trying to decide between the two. I ended up going with the ASUS with the keyboard dock. I made my decision after playing with both for some time as I am lucky to work for Staples where both are sold :}. Anyway I chose the ASUS because I wanted the most bang for the buck and my usage is primarily games and browsing and movies and occasional office work so it has it all with the horsepower of the Tegra 3. It will really depend on how you see yourself using the tablet of choice. If you want to play games the ASUS is an easy choice with the Tegra 3 processor it plays them very well you can also connect controllers using the docks USB port and even put it on your HDTV using built in HDMI. Otherwise the Samsung Tab 7.0 is a nice portable size and great for web and music and doubles as a smart remote with its built in IR blaster. It lacks USB and HDMI but for $250us it's a competitor for sure. Best of luck and enjoy which ever you choose.
Hardware wise you get a lot more from the TF300. It might be hardware you don't need though. If you just want to play Angry Birds, read books, and do some light internet browsing, 7" tablets are great.
I have the luxury to own both, well I have the P1000, but thats a 7" also.
The 7" tab is perfect for on the go.
The Asus is perfect for the coffee table.
If i had to choose however, i would go for portability. So I would keep the Tab and trash the TF300.
The 6210 is the tab plus, which is probably the best 7" tab out there (better than the tab 2). I had the same model and sold it to get the TF300. It offers a bigger screen, more power, and ICS. There are also a lot of rumors about Google launching a Tegra 3 quadcore 7" tab for $199 or less in about 2 months, which is a much better value than the 6210 (unless the other hardware is truly atrocious).

I'm in a similar situation. I've got an HTC Flyer and an ASUS TF300. The Flyer goes with me EVERYWHERE. The TF300 I use when extremem portability is not a requirement.
I love having both, but if i could only have one it would be a 7" tablet.
Thankfully, I don't have to choose
Thanks for the replies everyone. Never had a tablet before and the more I think of it, the more likely it is that I will be taking with me on the go. Therefore, I'll probably stick with the Galaxy Tab Plus.
Thanks again for your input.

Same here but with the Sprint HTC Evo View 4G (essentially the flyer with 32GB memory and additional 3G/4G radios). Love the dock with the TF and usability but I take the 7” tablet everywhere and my TF stays at home.

Asus will give you better specs and hardware, I'd go with it in pretty much every situation unless you need something portable. The TF300 will probably last longer in the sense that its better specs will let it run current software for a longer amount of time after now.

Does anyone know if it's possible (and how) to use the Galaxy Note 10.1 as a (Wacom) graphics tablet for a desktop PC, using the USB or WiFi connection between the tablet and the PC?
I think it could be very useful!!!

i bought the pro version last night. if i don't get it running no probs. the remote is pretty darn awesome and i can use it for other functions. plus i got a monoprice graphic tablet coming today! $50 for 10x6.25 tablet.
I am afraid that pressure info is not implemented yet in Unified Remote but could be programmed within this app (custom input remote).
Will dig into this and look if I could setup a script, but it will take time .................................
It would be great if it works. I plan to buy both Galaxy Note 10.1 as an upgrade and Wacom tablet. But if the Note works just fine, I won't buy Wacom. The Note has 1024 pressure level, is it the same as an actually drawing tablet which has 1024 pressure level?
Especially, if I can use Galaxy Note as drawing tablet in Ubuntu, it would be great.

I think it should work if there's a good app especially designed for this. If there isn't one now there'll probably be one soon. All the necessary hardware is already there!
Certainly Wacom won't be very happy with it

i picked up the 10x6.25 and i'm really loving it so far. i doubt i'll ever buy another wacom and may get the 9x12 later.

Maybe one of the Pro´s here should get interested in THIS.
If Chainfire would want this, man, in one week the 10.1 is a full working digitizer like Bamboo ........................
It´s just a matter to connect the 10.1 input info somehow to the PC-drivers for Bamboo-digitizers.
The problem is the "somehow" .................:laugh:
Can samsung galaxy tab 10.1 replace a wacom tablet+ a laptop?
Hi guys,
I too have the same question here. Can samsung galaxy note 10.1 replace a wacom tablet+ a laptop?
Any expert opinion on the pressure sensitivity and professional usage of the galaxy tab rather than its use for fun stuff as shown in the ads.
I was planning to buy a wacom tablet and an ultrabook for a kind of freelance design work. So if the note is good enough I can opt for this single device.
Thanks in anticipation!
In case there is a hardcore devpro here owning a note 10.1 there will be an app for sure, the question is: WHEN ?
I got my hands on Galaxy Note 10.1 today. Currently, there's no app that can transform this tablet to graphic tablet to use with PC. I have no knowledge about Android development at all, nor I have knowledge about desktop program development. All I have about coding is HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, which I believe doesn't relate to this kind of staff.
Now, how can I help make it possible? Or how can I develop my own and very first app ever? Thanks.
if your asking what i think you are. Being able to get a program such as cs5 to see the tablet as its input device. The program would have to be aware of the capability of the tablet. There would have to be drives for the whole device being used as a input device not just a media device as adb shows it to a computer now..
The short answer is its Not likely. thou there is a app that will let you use your phone as a mouse. but again that would not in my opinion give you the necessary control you need. I have a wacom intuos graphic tablet. Wacom and cs work so well together . Very much work was done to get this to happen. I Would say buy a intuos 4 or 5 . You will NOT regret it. I love mine.. its a amazing piece of hardware. but with cs5 you better have a beefy computer with the tilt feature for brush strokes and take a computer to its limits and beyond..
quad core amd with 1 gb ram ssd drive on ours ..
good Luck ..
Yes, I want to replace my Wacom with Note 10.1. Of cause, the easiest way is to get a new Wacom. But more device like this and with higher ability will come to the market in the future. If there's an app that can make this possible, I would buy it instead of an expensive Wacom.
New to the forums, looking to by my first tablet. Not really interested in the ipad 3. I want a tablet which will be good for watching videos and playing a bit of games, also want a good web browser. Which tablet will be ideal out of these 3? My budget is $500, so the price factor doesnt really matter. Neither the s pen or the keyboard dock appeal to me. Thanks!

I have around $270 and I would like to buy a new device with it. I don't know whether to buy the 16gb iPod touch 5th gen to replace my aging 4th gen iPod touch, or a large tablet such as the nook HD+. Does anyone have any suggestions of a good device for $270 or less? I am going to use this device for mainly gaming, watching videos, and surfing the internet. I also am not looking for a 7 inch tablet because I have a fairly new galaxy tab 2 7.0 that is working great and won't need replacing for a while. Thanks in advance.

Kinda confused since you already have a Galaxy Tab 7", and now you're wanting something for watching videos and browsing the internet and you're considering an iPod touch for that?? The Nook HD+ is really nice but a iPod touch and an Nook HD+ couldn't be further apart in similarities.
All I can say is the HD+ is very, very nice (especially with Jelly Bean installed on it). One of the best screens out there and plenty fast. If you want small, light, and the Apple iTunes Store, get the iPod. Otherwise, for $149 you can't go wrong with the Nook HD+ 16GB (or $179 for the 32GB).
Well I want something that is very portable and that I can work out with, but I also want something with a larger screen. I just want to get peoples opinions of the best devices in the price range I'm looking at. I am not to sure about the iPod because I really don't like iOS much and greatly prefer android although there are almost no good android mp3 players. If Samsung does announce the rumored galaxy player 2 at its June 20th event then the iPod would be out of the question definitely.
