Htc Desire S beginner

Hi all
As u can see i am beginner so i would have some questions to ask.
I would like to root device and use [Hyperion V2.1|Sense 3.0|GB 2.3.5],so pls tell me should i follow two specific videos for Htc Desire S on youtube about rooting device and installing custom ROM-s ?
My current kernel version is '2.6.35.10-g2ee27fS [email protected]#1 Wed jun 8',so what should i do about it,i have to flash new kernel to use hyperion rom or what(or it is automatically applied when i instal ROM)?
I am new to this device and to android so i don't understand how certain things functions and what should i exactly do,i don't want to brick my new phone
Please post details of your hboot (bootloader) version along with your current ROM details

To find out the Hboot number you must turn off your phone and then take the battery out. Then put the battery back in. You must then hold the down side of the volume rocker and hold the power button at the same time

You need to take it to a shop or somewhere that does that, Rooting or S-Off does NOT sim -unlock

[Q] Hboot questions

Hey Guys,
I'm currently with hboot 1.11.0000
Here's what my bootloader says:
*** TAMPERED ***
*** UNLOCKED ***

HBOOT-1.11.0000
RADIO-9.32a.32.09.29

I apparently need to update my phone to 3.18 to install H8rift's CM10.1, but After running the RUU installer, I got an error 159.
Isn't there a way I can update my hboot through the Android SDK?

It's not just the hboot that needs updating the idea other things in the RUU as well. Which RUU did you try running?

Oh psh I'm dumb... You'll need to s-off first and then run the ruu. You should be good after that.
Edit: link to s-off http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2155071

Well, tried S-OFFing it, got an error 99 during that process.
Looked around and found that I should SUPERCID my phone, And I keep getting ROGER001 instead of 111111111 ...
FML :C
EDIT : After a log of yelling and keyboard smashing, I CID'd and S-OFF'd my phone. I'm attempting to run this now!
EDIT 2 : Everything is done! Thanks for the hint! Can a mod lock this thread?

Wrong it needs the 3.17/3.18 firmware files, it is not about hboot.214, just the same as the touch screen driver issue was never hboot 2.14.
RUU your phone. Easiest method is to supercid, s-off and then RUU.
You will likely want access to a Windows machine at some point during that.
Is it possible to just flash the OTA JB update instead of ruu? I already have supercid, s-off and unlocked

Yes.. but you need to extract the recovery.img from the update zip file. Then fastboot flash the stock recovery (after making sure the ota is on your storage) then boot to bootloader. Then recovery. Press volume up and press and release power to access recovery menu. Then pick the ota and flash

Upgrading hboot
On hboot 1.14 on my AT&T Evita device, S-ON. Are there clear instructions anywhere for getting this done? Easy enough to do this from stock, but don't see the upgrade scenario. Thanks in advance and really appreciate the solid contributions in this forum.

Having trouble with stability and features when running some of the newer AOSP roms. e.g. when running Carbon AOSP, having trouble with data connection, torch, and reboots. Devs feel my older hboot is the culprit, as that is the only difference they are seeing in my device.

I've been on 1.09 and run just about every Rom available on xda and never encountered issues other than the known bugs in the roms.. I would s-off and then run ruu to get on latest firmware.
