batter on gs3 solution - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

The power saver works only with cpu limitations but a few item you may want to check is what kernal you are useing is your wifi on when not needed or bluetooth wifi direct or gps or hot spot also you may want to check the default brightness level also background tasks you also may want to try a simple restart any other issues or dthings you think i missed please add as you feel in the comments.

Hi,
In my little experience, there is no software that makes alot of diference, normaly what i do is:
disable motion
insert *#9900# and disable Fast dormacy - check is your network needs this
disable sync for accounts
disable GPS
disable wifi gps
disable wifi when not using
set brightness level to auto
set wifi sleep policy to when pluged in
Of course there are a couple more things you could do, and again this is what i do cant say it will work as good for you.
rooting.
Tasker
With it one can automate almost everything on the phone.
It's almost like programming i use it all the time and there are a lot of examples on this forum. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1110775
Juice Defender Ultimate + Battery Saver Pro (by Antutu).
I tryed a few battery saver apps but no longer use them as i found if i turn auto sync off, change wifi sleep policy to never, untick network notification, and use task manger frequently to kill unused apps my battery lasts a lot longer. I also use easy task killer and set it to kill all apps every 30 mins. im using king cobra v1.1 for evo 3d gsm and the battery life is amazing!! just swapping battery's over now and its nearly 9pm!!
If any one needs any help rooting or unrooting the evo 3d gsm hboot 1.4.9.0018 let me know as i have done it a few times now. I unrooted my phone back to ***locked*** s-on with no traces of rooting, then checked for ota updates, wouldnt of installed them tho even if there was one!! then downgraded back too 1.4.9.0007 and rooted it again with revolutionary.

forgot to mention auto brightness is a must. and i also calibrate battery after installing roms . can anyone please tell me if calibrating the battery every time it gets to 100% is good or bad? thanks.
When you use an xperia mini pro like me, with just 970 mAh, you get to try all possible battery savers... and unfortunetly no one of them makes the exception... actually as said evilchild, they don't make difference...
just disable everything that may drain your battery, your launcher effects too can be in cause, get rid of unuseful apps, put your brightness to lowest levels or just get it to auto if your rom use it... choose the best profile for your CPU... and with this you are good for 10 new hours in your daily battery life.
I'm not sure a 'battery-saving' app is real.
They just disable some features that we can manually do that. They just make it automatically disabled.
But, 2x Battery is good. It could disable Wifi or mobile data while the display is off.
one touch battery saver is awesome. create a widget to enable/disable wifi, gps, sync, brightness,bt,data ect with one touch!. free on google play

Yeah. There's a thread somewhere which gives real battery saving tips
I tried some apps, but I didn't found one which really improved the battery.
In my opinion the best method is to reduce the brightness.

From the apps I tried out and used, almost all of them just disabled certain things, or tweaked settings that I could have done on my own, and eventually did do.
I found it easier to just go on a sub forum for the phone I had at the time and look up tweaks, tips etc.. I'd say doing this helped me more than any app I found previously, and was easy to do.
Dolphin companion is good and gives more remaining of time.
I use juice defender and the setting: "Only 2G"
3G takes a lot of battery..

None. There are no working saving battery apps, not a single one.
What a battery saving application can do is to change the phone configuration to a lower energy one, just like lowing brightness, disabling data packages and such, to sum up, things you can do by yourself and you'll save the battery that that application consumes.
The best way to save battery is to make a proper use of your phone:
-Disable gps when you don't need it.
-Turn off bluetooth when not needed.
-Keep screen brightness low at all time.
-Disable data packages before going to sleep and enable them again when you wake up.
-Keep your phone clean by periodically uninstalling apps that you don't use anymore and that make unnecesary use of memory, cpu and battery energy.
-Check your battery use statistics and keep an eye on applications that are using energy unefficiently, and replace them with better alternatives. Facebook and facebook messenger are clear examples.
-Some people say that connecting to 2G networks instead of 3G helps as well.
-Activate wifi at home, it seems to eat less battery than connected to 3G.
There are more tips out there, just gogle it and make a responsible use of your phone. Keeping phone clean and lowing brightness will probably make the biggest difference.
Moreover, if android S.O. is on the top of the list of battery use, your phone's software entered a weird condition. Reboot it and if it persist, consider a factory reset.
I hope this helps
I just started evaluating Juice Defender Ultimate to see if it can save battery life, but there are many options that I don't fully understand. I have attached a screenshot of the Notificatin pulldown window from my Galaxy Nexus which shows the JD status. There are 9 objects just to the right of the JD shield. They include 3 icons, 3 colored circles and 3 lines of text. Can anyone explain what each of them mean? I have checked the JD online info, without luck.
My best guess is:
the up/down icon represents mobile data
the red circle next to the up/down icon means mobile data is disabled
the radiation icon represents WiFi
the green circle next to the radiation icon means WiFi is enabled
the 3G icon represents 3g mode
the red circle next to the 3g icon means 3g is disabled and 2g is enabled
As mentioned, these are just my best guesses. I have no idea what the 3 lines of text mean?

[Q] Allocate all phone's resources to one app

Hi, lately I use alot of GPS with Waze app (delivery), and my battery drops pretty fast.
I wanted to know if there's a way to allocate all the phone's resources to Waze,
like closing everything else in the background, especially data transfer.
I would simply turn off the 3g and save alot of battery, but Waze needs it to find addresses.
I use stock 4.0.4, unlocked but not rooted. anyone have a creative idea what can help me?
Thanks
Maybe Watchdog can help, I believe its used to set a limit on CPU usage from certain apps. Maybe you could limit everything else's cpu usage except waze?

but then I'll probably need in each time to set the cpu usage app by app no?
Buy a car charger. Problem solved.
Really nothing is going to help you save battery with a app that does all this. Screen on/gps/network usage for traffic maps etc.
Only battery saving tips is really turn off the screen or use a lower brightness setting while you do use it

Can't use a charger cause I work in food delivery (with a scooter)
But yea I figured there's no other solution for that.
It's just I see apps like whatsapp and other games keeps popping out messages and notifications while my battery already draining from the GPS, and I know they run in the background and drains battery too. So I thought perhaps there's a way to close all apps except Waze, but I guess there isn't.

How to save battery

On my S4 I used "One Power" but it doesn't work on the OPO. Does anyone have an idea?

There is power save profile in performance settings
Thanks. I thought it doesn't work.
Saving battery can be done in MANY ways. There is not one way to do so, and I doubt I could list all of the ways here. You can disable certain location features, Greenify apps, block wakelocks, tweak kernel/CPU/GPU etc.
I'll list a few ways to do it, some way work for you some may not.
* Set up Tasker profile to underclock the CPU when the screen is off, or at night, or under certain circumstances.
* Set up Tasker profile to change CPU governor at certain time or event (if kernel allows it)
* Turn off auto brightness and get used to using manually brightness at low levels.
* Turn WiFi and/or GPS off when not in use.
* Don't use the vibrate feature for anything.
* Flash a ROM and/or kernel that advertises battery savings. (Every device is different, you'll have to find the one that works for you and your device)
* Use 3G instead if LTE when fast speeds aren't needed.
* Use the Greenify app to hibernate apps.
* Use a battery monitor to make sure you don't have any rouge apps or processes.
I don't use many of these but all these can, potentially, work. Just depends how extreme you want to be.
If you want a set and forget method I'd recommend ROM/Kernel, Tasker profiles, and Greenify.
The best way to save battery is to eliminate wakelocks. The oneplus one is such a great phone when it comes to battery, it's something I don't even worry about.
Some of the things are out of your control as well. Things like signal strength is another strong battery drain if the signal is weak.
Sent from my One using Tapatalk
I use Tasker and Syncer to really optimize battery... certain apps sync only when on wifi... some with time periods... syncing less frequently really helps.
Greenify is great at saving battery, as well as not using auto-brightness. Manual brightness is a lot easier to adjust if you enable the status bar gesture.
EDIT: Disable/Lengthen update frequency of apps like News, Google Now and widgets.
Save battery? Are u serious.Getting my battery to last is the least of my worries with this phone.Battery life is superb!!!

Interesting app. I installed it on my tablet. Look up how it will work. Pity that application is not in material design...
Can I say dodgy app here full of ads and nothing as you say it is. Gives me to play games and full of ads. Avoid
Looks very Good though

i want to prevent apps to auto start to save battery and ram, which app should i use, grrenify or autorun manager or any other?
First, you need not concern yourself with free ram on an Android device. Android manages resources better by itself. As for the apps that launch on startup, you can got to menu>settings>apps and select the "running" tab to show you exactly what is really running. Then, the easiest way is to uninstall the app in question.
Automated task killers do nothing but cause more problems than they can potentially solve.
You might find this thread enlightening.

The task killer discussion gets old. I think there is risk of oversimplifying both sides. ie on one side people want to treat it like pc...not correct. On the other side people seem to imply any discussion of memory management considerations is irrelevant/rejected because "android will handle it all"....which is not always entirely correct either. The latter may be closer to the truth especially for new devices, but there is still room for middle ground. Not all programs are equal, some launch "services" which takes priority over other app processes. Too many of those services can eventually crowd out cache and slow your phone down. Maybe most people with newer phones will never get there, but there are still people with older phones (including the op for all we know) and also some folks with new phones who (if they listen to the oversimplifications) may get carried away on the number and type of apps they install over the life of their phone
---------- Post added at 12:47 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:43 AM ----------
Even so, killing off those services is not the answer. If an older phone has too many running services so it taxes it's resources then it's either time to uninstall some or get a device that can handle it. If it's a problem with the app itself hogging resources, then let the developer know and find an alternative.
If you try to tow a boat with a bicycle, the answer isn't to throw away the boat's engine to make it lighter. Similarly, a task killer may make the phone's performance improve briefly, but over time it will make things worse. And it fixes nothing.
An app preventing another app from "auto-starting" is a task killer. Look at it this way: The phone boots up and runs it's processes. The auto-start blocker detects an app it doesn't want to run, so it kills it. Now, depending on what app it is, the phone may call for it again and thus running it later, which defeats the purpose of an auto-start killer, unless that app is a task killer which again kills said flagged app to keep it killed.
The way to properly manage an app you don't want to have enabled on the phone at bootup is to disable the app on the system manager (newer phones have it AFAIK), freeze the app via Titanium or similar apps, get into the app settings and disable certain features like auto-sync and set everything to manual.
However, the OP did not specify what phone and which apps. It may be apps which the phone requires to run at some level, like Maps (which several apps call for), or maybe the apps he is seeing are just RAM cached, which really don't matter at all.
Adjusting with app settings is preferred if you can, but does not always solve the problem (I referred to wakelock/battery drain problem with a certain version of Maps on my previous phone ... many people we having the same problem at the time and the only way to stop it was to block the app from starting as indicated in link below, or else to freeze it). Freezing has the disadvantage that you cannot run the program easily (requires you to launch TiBu to thaw the program). If you have blocked the program from autostarting, then it does not start at boot or other automatic time, but it remains available to manually launch the normal way (clicking the program icon). At that point (if it's a program like Maps), it will probably stay running until next reboot. It was my preferred solution when maps was giving me wakelocks and battery drain on my phone. Maps didn't run automatically on boot and never started until I manually started it. After that point I could live with the battery drain or reboot
Rom Toolbox Pro is a great app with many features and of course, there's an auto start manager that allows you to disable various receivers off the apps that start on boot. There's also a freeze/deep freeze feature as well. Great app

Steps To Get 10 Hours Of Screen On Time

Almost all android users have one common issue and that is quick battery draining issue. The smarter Android device is getting, the more battery is it sucking. We are forced to carry charger or power bank all the time due to short battery life.
So, today I am going to tell you what I do to get a SOT (Screen On Time) of around 9-10 hours.
If you don't like the steps I am going to share, you may walk away. And if you plan on trying, don't forget to let me know how you are doing.
Requirements:
1. A rooted device
2. Magisk Manager
3. Afwall+
4. MacroDroid
5. Kernel Adiutor
6. Patience
Steps that I follow:
1. I don't use Chrome, Google app (for privacy) and Facebook. I use Firefox focus for browsing and Samsung Internet Browser for downloading contents online. It is proven that these three apps are the main culprit why the device dry up so quickly. So, getting rid of them is the best idea for the sake of battery and performance.
2. I use "Enable Doze For GMS Magisk Module" which is available on Magisk repo. It basically puts Google Play Services into Doze mode. You can try "sysconfig Patcher" as well. This will definitely improve your battery life.
3. I use Greenify4Magisk module. It is available in Magisk repo. It is same as regular Greenify app with ROM integrated privilege. I greenify almost all third party apps (except apps that need to run in the background like AFWall+ or MacroDroid etc.). This way no apps run in the background when I don't use them.
4. I also use AFWall+ to make sure no app steal data package without my knowledge. This saves my data and privacy and helps me saving battery as well.
5. MacroDroid is a great alternative to Tasker. I use it to turn OFF data when the screen goes off and turn it back ON when the screen is on (Exception is when I play music, data doesn't get OFF). It also turns ON battery saver and Airplane mode (Caution: You will miss any important calls) when I go to sleep and turn them OFF when I wake up in the morning. This makes sure my battery percentage doesn't drop when I am not using the device.
6. I under clocked the CPU to 1689MHz and GPU to 510MHz. Kernel Adiutor helps me doing that. Since I don't play games that much, this settings help me getting an amazing battery life without sacrificing performance.
7. I keep my Location and Auto Sync turned OFF most of the times and turn them ON only when I need. I also keep the device sleep time to 15 seconds and brightness level as low as possible.
8. Since I am using JIO, I need to change the Network band in order to get stability and better battery backup. For more info, click here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/how-to/jio-network-issue-finally-solved-t3778229
I am extremely sorry for not being able to explain in details (as I am quite busy with my work). If anyone plans to follow my steps and needs help on setting up Greenify, AFWall+ or any other help, please do let me know and I will do my best to help you. I have attached the link of my MacroDroid settings. Please use "Export/Import" option (available on the app) to import the settings and turn it ON. If it asks Root permission, give it. Also go to Settings and click on "Ignore Battery Optimisations" for the app to work in a better way.
N.B. I know some kidos would feel like "Why to use a smartphone if not enjoying all its features". Well, once you grow up and get the responsibility of your family, you would understand the importance of this post. It's not like we don't enjoy our smartphones. We do, but mostly on weekends. On weekdays (because of our busy work schedule), we use our cellphones just to make/receive a few phone calls (mostly at/from home) or text messages. So, getting a good SOT is what we want from our smartphone. It makes sure we don't need to keep charging our device all the times. If anyone still feels annoyed with my post, please STAY AWAY! But I would accept no sarcastic or disrespectful comments and anything as such would be reported immediately (You are being warned).
If this post helps you, don't forget to hit Thanks. It will encourage me to spend more times on XDA and help you more.

This is the kind of SOT I am getting on Resurrection Remix ROM with stock kernel. The above mentioned steps are applicable to any ROM/Kernel.
Since you mentioned growing up and family.
Turning airplane mode on during sleep hours. Won't be much of a help when someone is in emergency.
I would suggest that you add CAUTION in the step "turning airplane mode on".
I know it won't make a difference. But here i have seen people following simple instructions and still failing
I can easily theoretically get 10 hours of SOT without rooting and other apps through this:
1. Use only WI-FI with no mobile data and location throughout the usage.
2. Manually turn off background usage and background data of apps you seldomly use (in Settings > Apps)
3. No gaming
4. Use only one Google account
I don't usually attain 10 hours because there are times I really need to use mobile data which consumes a lot of battery. Considering that can max out 5-6 hours with 40% remaining before I charge my phone.
Good info thanks for sharing....
