[Q] Shipping phone international - General Questions and Answers

I'm trying to find some straight answers about selling and shipping my phone to an international buyer. Do you need an export license to ship cell phones overseas? What's the best way to ship? What are some things to think about? Have you done it before? What's your experience?

T-Mobile UK

Hey folks, does anybody here work for T-Mobile UK? Or if any of you have done this could you let me know?
Does anyone know if you can buy handsets directly from T-Mobile without the contact? For example, buy the non-subsidised phone outright as you would buying a sim-free model from online retailers at the usual £200-£500 cost?
Currently can't call them to ask, and wanted their version of the handset from rather than other retailers.
Enter to marketplace, perhaps you can find some

Samsung Captivate in Canada

So it's getting close to Sunday, even some people were lucky enough to get them early. My question is, does anybody know of a place to order one of these that will ship to Canada? Other than waiting for them to show up on eBay?

Since bestbuy will carry it on sunday, you can PROBABLY buy it online and pay extra for the mailing.
So it's release day, my birthday, and I'm having no luck. I tried to get in on the Wal-Mart action this morning and failed cause I have a Canadian credit card which they wouldn't accept, which turned out ok since the canceled orders anyways. Next I tried Best Buy, they were willing to sell me on for $500 but I had to get it shipped to a US address first. I managed to find a cousin in the states who would accept it and then send it up to me, excellent. I called Best Buy up to order the phone and they told me they couldn't sell it off contract and that I would have to go to an AT&T store. I called back, got another agent and she informed me I could order the phone off contract. Just not now as they currently aren't shipping that phone and that I would have to go to a store and pick one up.
Does anybody know of any other online stores that are selling the Captivate today?

[Q] Where can I order a smartphone like the Samsung Captivate?

Hello freinds.
I'm looking for recommendations on websites that sell Samsung Captivate at fair prices.
It is important that the site will make deliveries to Israel.
Thx.
You'll be looking for the vanilla Galaxy S phone (i9000), which you can order from somewhere like Clove.
Hey, I'm looking the specific version Samsung Captivate from U.S.
You know websites are sell the smartphone?
Thx.
have you tried wirefly.com? They sell the captivate for $559 - no contract. That is the only "fair" price you will find. It is an AT&T phone and you will have to but it from AT&T reseller.
I don't know if they ship to Israel. You may need a US buyer to reship it.
Could always check eBay....
If I could get my hands on the i9000, I'd be pleased.

Unlocked USA Model shipped to the UK

I'm looking in to pre-ordering the unlocked model directly off of HTC's USA website and am wondering if anyone on here would be kind enough to give me their two cents on whether or not they think it would be possible for me to do this and still be able to use the phone without any complications. I can see that the frequencies used by American service providers are exactly the same as the ones used over this side of the pond but am concerned there might be unforseen problems. I personally have no use for 4G speeds so I tend to stick to cheaper 3G packages with inclusive minutes and texts. I can see that the A9 is a GSM/HSPA/LTE phone but am wondering if anyone has any past experience with importing phones like this one which on paper sound like they should be compatible; if so I'd be interested in hearing your opinion on the matter.
Thanks for reading and I look forward to any responses!
I used www.myus.com and everything went well, but you'll have to pay import taxes when you receive it.
For the past mobile I sent in Italy it meanest 40-50 Euro shipping to my country and other 40-50 Euro import taxes.
Anyway the final price is cheaper than buying it in Europe.
So I do wonder, if you do a super CID of 11111111 can you flash a UK unlocked ROM? The US ROM still has TetherGuard through APN managment. How did yours work out for you?
Does anyone know the MID for a UK HTC One A9? Is ram the only difference and eMMC storage?

USA customs duty (if any) when getting phone from HongKong

Hello folks,
I was wondering if US customs hassled anyone when getting phone from HongKong/China through ebay or GearBest.
I am considering some off brand phone. I am not too sure yet if I will get it from Hong Kong or China or through which website. I would like to know if anybody paid more than what was asked at the respective website later due to the customs or something else. Every website says, there 'may' be an additional charge but other things I have gotten, have never been asked for anything more, but this is the first time getting a phone or such electronic device.
Many thanks in advance.

Hi there,
Of course there will be an import charge of every things that gets posted outside the country. However you can buy the phone and then choose DHL and they will cover the import charge too. But there won't be any hidden charges as far as I know.

Thank you.
Do you have personal experience with this?
I ask because this is not the first order for me that is getting shipped from China or HK. As a matter of fact, some orders have been way more expensive than this and large in size but never have I been charged any customs duty. None of my orders were electronics though, hence I am curious.
With regards to DHL, again do you have experience of this? I don't know why a carrier would pay the customer's customs duty.

Hi there,
well I bought a phone from the UAE and I had to pay a VAT AT IMPORT 30.31 and an advanced payment 14.50 which a total of 44.81 .
so I was reading my old receipt it said and I quote " the value of the goods and freight must exceed 22 euro in order for VAT to be applied by Customs.
so basically each country has their own importing charge and in Ireland it is 23%. You can find more Details on the DHL website itself and also on any Delivery Service Website.

Hi there,
I will give you an example if you seen the youtuber EVERYTHINGAPPLEPRO he gets his fake iPhones and fake Samsungs from aliexpress and they are all from china and packed by DHL so no there won't be any hassle. EVERY DELIVERY SERVICE CHECK THE CONTENTS THROUGH X-RAY AND SEE IF THERE IS ANY DANGEROUS STUFF IF THERE IS THE COUNTRY WILL REJECT THAT ITEM AND SEND IT BACK TO THE SENDER. HOWEVER SINCE ITS AN ELECTRONIC DEVICE THERE WONT BE ANY PROBLEM
