It's great that we have all started porting to the Pico/Explorer, and found out how to port from the Desire. But why haven't we started looking into porting ROMs from the Wildfire S to the Pico/Explorer? It might be easier to port from the Wildfire S because the specs are basically all the same except for storage size. Please PM me if you would like to start working on the Wildfire S porting.
HTC pico/explorer runs on ARMv7. Wildfire s is ARMv6 device!!

Exactly. It's like porting a PowerPC Mac application to Windows without any major source changes.

Hi. Is it possible that someone can port this HTC Desire rom, to HTC Desire S ?
It's the greatest rom ever .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1453287
Can't be as good as reaper! I'm sure it could be easily themed to look like that as well.
I got HTC Desire and HTC Desire S.
HTC Desire running mildwild.
HTC Desire S running reaper.
And mildwild is way better.
it's smaller.
way more smooth.
not as many bugs.

Maybe you could ask the dev of your ROM to port it to desire s..
I would like to test it too
Sent from my Desire S using XDA App
yeah, I will try that
part of the reason i said it was because porting from desire isn't easy. There was a lot of problems when oxygen was ported which is why initially it was never released. If i'm correct, it wasn't until the devs at desire hd ported it that we finally got it. But good luck! the more ROMs the better.
Hello all,
I am benjamingwynn. I am currently working on a sense 3.5 ROM for the HTC Wildfire S and HTC Salsa and ran into a problem...
The kernel on the Salsa cannot or won't work on Sense 3.5 ROMS.
This is where I need a kernel dev who is looking for a small challenge to help modify the existing kernel for the salsa to run sense 3.5.
If you are looking for a real challenge then overclocking is also a possibility, but not something we need.
I have little experience with kernel development but am a fast learner as

Ain't this General
@OP, what exactly happens?
Stuck on the bootloader?
Also, are you porting a newer Android version and using an old kernel? - e.g. you had froyo, the rom you are porting is gingerbread and you are using the froyo kernel
Also, if you manage to get logcat/ dmesg - it'ld help
And post the kernel here.

So the HTC Desire C has been released and the specs are almost the same as in HTC Explorer. The thing is Desire C comes with ICS and the Explorer comes with GB
Is it possible to port it?
some Desire C specs:
Chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon
CPU speed 600 MHz
Internal 4 GB storage, 512 MB RAM
some Explorer specs:
Chipset Qualcomm MSM7227A Snapdragon
CPU 600 MHz Cortex A5
Internal 90 MB storage, 512 MB ROM, 512 MB RAM
main difference is internal memory, camera, screen size (but same resolution) and Desire C supports NFC
Thanks for reading
Bump.
my thoughts exactly... looks like the hardware is quite similar.. allegedly both having Qualcomm MSM7225A - but the community support on the Explorer isn't that large, so one can only hope
Htc desire c rom on htc explorer
Htc desire c rom on htc explorer.do anyone done this?or else some one give me a link for htc desire c stock rom then i will give u the htc explorer with ics
I don't know why HTC release very similar phones with only an upper versión of Android. I just don't get it. The Explorer can easily be updated to ICS...
Anyway, It would be great to have an Desire C ROM port

Any progress?? Porting a rom from a phone to phone it's easy or hard? Anyone tried to do it??
ICS with Sense 4. Something I always wanted. We got CM9, so there is hope.
Very much possible....
I'll try to port it... We've got CM9 working out of the box.. and we've got two stable ports already, MIUI and evervolv... So porting sense 4 isn't much of a deal!
desire c rom port to explorer?

hey dude did u ported htc desire c rom to explorer..
... i m eagerly waithing for such thing...
.
or pl make a ics rom with sense 4 for explorer...
HTC just uploaded the Ville_C2 jelly bean kernel sources. For those that don't already know it is the One S with the sensations processor in it, the msm8x60.
http://dl4.htc.com/RomCode/Source_and_Binaries/villec2-jb-crc-3.4.10-055bd56.zip
My repo is https://github.com/XirXes/pyramid-3.4.10
I don't have it compiling yet but it's quite the start. After we resolve any compile errors we need to port over the touch panel driver and our display.
Let the porting begin.
BTW lik doesn't work.
Then just go to HTC dev and grab the One S source for 3.17.401.102. It will have villec2 in the filename.
so,JB with sense4.5 for sensation will come soon, cheers
Actually that's jb with sense 4.5 not 5. 5 won't come until the ville gets sense 5

I'm pretty sure that even with the same processor, kernel source for another device is quite useless to us.
If I'm wrong someone with kernel dev'ing experience please tell me so!
EDIT: Even if I am wrong, my nexus 7 is only at 3.1.10, officially and on every custom kernel. I find it hard to believe 3.4.10 could get ported to the sensation without a very, very substantial amount of work and hackery.
Is this true?

Porting 3.4.10 code for the VilleC2 to the Sensation is very possible. The only reason why it's possible is because the Sensation and the VilleC2 have the same chipset. I've even built a kernel for the Sensation using VilleC2 source and it booted.

pretty cool. i tryed changing a bunch or refernces around from ville to pyramid but got a compile error pretty quick lol. someone else needs to do this heh
Has anyone identified if this version still uses pmem? Wouldn't it be wonderful if Qualcomm / HTC got ion together for us?!
Hey, a boy can dream...
Sent from my HTC Sensation using Tapatalk 2
This definitely has ion. The 4.0.4 sources for the villec2 had it aswell. Also as a bonus this kernel may score us powered OTG. The stuff has always been there but was dissabled in the source due to hardware concerns. It doesn't require the charging chip we discussed in the otg thread. The 8660 has the ability on chip.

It's a Jelly Bean kernel so it HAS to use ION.
New kernel source ... New GPU drivers ... Bright future for the sensation! Let the porting begin!

if this can work in both devices, i am unable to know why HTC can't release for Sensation? This is an open abuse to customers like us for using old phone!
Can I port ROMs from Sensation to our One S C2 and what will I need? I used to port ROMs for the Desire but I didnt post them here. Is the proccess of porting the same?

Yes you can port them. You can even port aosp based roms from HTC One S (S4) to One S C2, I have managed to port two of them... About the procedure, I don't know how you did it, but I belive it is pretty much the same.
Good luck!
Which libs I have to replace from One S(ville) ROMs to One S C2(ville2) to port the ROM? Is the proccessor only the difference?
