Help needed in Installing V6 SuperCharger - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I'm truly sorry if this is a n00b question. I've searched and i've read the threads on how to install the V6 SuperCharger on my device, but honestly the instructions are too confusing for a n00b like me.
I had to watch a YouTube video tutorial to flash my phone to the Cyangenmod 9 stable ROM. I then got a little more comfortable with flashing, so I decided to flash my firmware to Majick Whiz R1 CM9 Hybrid ROM.
But to install V6 SuperCharger on my device, i have to run scripts and stuff like which I'm not comfortable in doing yet. The instructions doesn't help either as it tells me if this happens, do this or go to this link, and run this script and press this button. Can someone kindly provide me with some detailed and easy instructions on how to install V6 SuperCharger on my device?

1. Install SManager.
2. Download the Supercharger script.
3. Run Supercharger script as root in SManager.
4. Select option 10.
5. Follow the onscreen instructions.

Thanks! Which Supercharger script should i be downloading? The starter kit? The instructions doesn't tell me exactly which one i should be d/ling and installing.
I'm using the following thread to download the scripts http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18703418&postcount=5021

If you're on MW, you shouldn't need the starter kit. Download the most recent V6 script (I think there was a 4 at the end of it?) and run that one.

I'm a n00b and I sincerely appreciate your help with this. I followed your instructions, i followed the on-screen instructions and answered some Y and N questions (chose all Yes), and then when i chose option 10, i got stumped. I don't know what values I should be entering. Do you have any recommendations what i should be entering?

Supercharger's confusing as hell the first time you do it. IIRC, the script will give you recommended options for everything. I just said "yes" to all the yes/no questions, and accepted the values it gave me for everything else. Otherwise, it's just menu options where you glance at the (long) menu and pick which option you want, but those are only beginning and end if I'm not mistaken. Unfortunately, I can't double back and Supercharge again to make sure because my phone's already at 100%, and it wouldn't show a large portion of the process.

I selected all the recommended options, and also entered "yes" to tall the yes/no questions. But all of those questions were asked prior to me selecting option 10 from the long menu. When i did select 10, it asked me to enter a value for SLOT 1, and that was when i said to myself, i have no idea what i need to do here and not sure what the impacts would be if i entered some random number, so i had to abort (hit "X").

I have not seen that one before...I'll have to look into it later on, see if maybe I can Supercharge my wife's SR when she gets home and recreate your error.

Thank you! It's not really an error, its just a lack of understanding/knowledge of the settings.
I followed your instructions that you've provided me, but the only thing was different when I ran the script, was that the on-screen instructions (initial setup) came first prior to selecting option 10.
I'll see if i can upload a screenshot the option 10.

[Q] Step by Step?

Hey guys!
Noob here who has flashed other phones in the past, but never anything Android based. Is there a step by step guide anywhere for the Mesmerize? Something generic and simple to follow from post root to a fully flashed phone?
Thanks for any input.
Tyler
Well our moderator is nowhere to be seen.. we should have a step by step sticked.. but we don't.
1) Root your phone. Search the forums to figure out how to do that.
2) Install RomManager and the ClockworkMod Recovery. There's a thread for that as well.
3) Download and install the ROM of your choice. Roms are located in the Dev Forums.
The details can be found in the Mesmerize General and the Mesmerize Development Forums. Search is your friend.

When I began this process about 2 weeks ago, I was at the same experience level as you Tyler. This is what worked easiest for me for my US Cellular Mesmerize.
(I'm just going to elaborate a bit on what Dcow posted, hopefully he doesn't mind .
Also keep in mind there are many variations to each step, this is what worked for me the easiest as a newb, hoping it does for you too.
And last but not least. There is always the disclaimer that attempting any of this can and will make your phone dysfunctional and or possibly bricked beyond repair (but most likely just dysfunctional which is a pain in the arse to deal with) if you do not follow steps completely (and of a trustworthy source such as xda).
So take your time, read each step that these people have taken the time to carefully write up, and you'll be just fine. Be patient as things don't always move fast and you never want to freak out as you may screw things up bad, when it's actually just taking longer than you would expect. There is alot going on behind the scenes so just give it time, trust me!
1) Root your phone. - Basically all this means is gaining the ability to give programs/apps and yourself SuperUser access (equivalent of being admin in windows) and also the ability to flash roms via recovery, detailed below.
The easiest way to root is to acquire the z4root.apk.
Download Here
After download, put z4root.apk on your SD card root directory
Then make sure in Settings->Applications that the "Unknown sources" box is checked.
If you don't have a file manager, download a free one from the market, using the file manager navigate to the z4root.apk and select to install it.
Reboot your phone
After it boots, open the z4root app and press root. At this point it is going to hang, give it 2 minutes and pull the battery. Count to 10, put it back in and turn it on. - This is normal, trust me.
After it reboots open z4root again and run it, this time it will run no problems and phone will reboot.
Once you are rooted (you will see the superuser icon in your apps, it will show apps you've given that permission to eventually) you will need to make sure you have a file manager that can request root permissions (read/write) before you will be able to complete the next step. Search the market for "root file manager" and pick one to download and install.
Also at this step I would download and install RomManager and TerminalEmulator as you will need these later.
2) Install RomManager and the ClockworkMod Recovery. These will basically just give you the ability to boot into recovery where you can more easily flash kernel's/rom's and anything else you wish to push to your phone.
I was able to install the Clockwork Mod Recovery very easily just by simply using the root file manager app I downloaded with these instructions.
Download the two zip files located in the first post here
Place both files on your SD card root
Using the root file explorer app, move the Redbend_ua file from the SD card to /system/xbin/
Long press on the Redbend_ua file and click permissions, there should be one check missing, check that.
Now open the TerminalEmulator
NOTE:The spaces below are actual spaces and the bml8 is a lowercase "L" not a "1" there is also a space after cd, after redbend_ua, after restore, and after recovery.bin
TYPE THIS ALL EXACTLY AS SHOWN BETWEEN THE QUOTES
at the command line ($) type "su" (then hit enter)
Type "cd /system/xbin" (then hit enter, which changes directory)
Type "redbend_ua restore /sdcard/recovery.bin /dev/block/bml8" (then hit enter, It will now scroll a bunch of text and reboot.)
After phone boots, open RomManager
Click on Flash ClockworkMod Recovery
Select the Samsung Fascinate your phone will still be the mesmerize
At this point you're all stock and ready for new kernel/rom.
3) Install Voodoo lagfix kernel and new 5.0 sound
If you want speed and good battery life (and high standard marks) +unlocking the headphone amp and eq controls (it makes even the samsung headset sound killer) go here and follow those steps for using your now functional recovery mode to flash the new Voodoo 5.0 kernel.
Note: There are a few ways of getting into this recovery mode, the best way if all else fails is to hold phone from the back with left hand (thumb on volume button, in the middle holding both down and pointer on power button) hold these down until the mesmerize logo pops up then slide your thumb down a bit to volume down only (if you slip don't worry it might blink but it'll still go to recovery)
Note: If you are more code/computer oriented there is a method using a program called ADB, which I'm not familiar with and seemed more complicated than what I went with. Search for that on the forum if you wish to do the above process that way instead.
4) Download and install the ROM of your choice.
Just pick one from this list Here, read through the first post of each before you decide, some are plug and play some take a few steps first.
Credit goes to all of the OP's and many others included in my sig, these people are awesome show them some love!

Did you PM me? I don't recall ever getting one from you. If I did, I apologise! I always try to be proactive in my forums
I check in on all my forums many times per day (even at work ) so if I miss something, please feel free to PM me anytime and I'll try to help where I can
I'll get in touch with bdemartino regarding getting a guide together that I can sticky
In the meantime Ill move this to general.
I few days ago I found an explanation here on how to do this:
http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1694111-Installing-Clockwork-and-Voodoo-onto-the-Samsung-Mesmerize
(The same explanation bdemartino gave here today)
1. I used the files from there. How do I tell if I am running voodoo5?
2. If its not the same, I've read that I can install voodoo5 over another voodoo, correct?
3. Is anyone having trouble with 3g, vibrate, etc...on the mez? I saw in the voodoo5 thread that a few people were having trouble with these things. I couldn't tell if they were fascinate, mesmerize or captivate.

That is the old Voodoo kernel, you will need to go to the link I listed in my post for Voodoo 5, and yes you can simply disable lagfix and flash the new one over the old.
And no problems on the write up, I spent a good amount of time digging up the links and stuff but I'll spend a little more time polishing it and will post it in another thread for Scotsman to stickie.
And to answer your last question, no I'm having no problems with any functions of my phone after upgrading to voodoo 5.
Thanks for the write up and nice job on it too. It seems, sometimes when people try and tell others how to do something, they don't break it down enough. But you did and made it easy for us noobs. Thanks again.
My clockwork ( or voodoo, not sure) didn't come with a "disable lag-fix" button. I just have to create an empty file called "disable_lagfix". I'm just unclear where to put it. I saw it somewhere before I just have to find it

There isn't a button, per se. When you go in to recovery, there is a disable lagfix option under voodoo. You can put the file, disable_lagfix, in the voodoo folder on your sdcard to do the same thing.
He does write up a good how-to, though, doesn't he.
Haha thanks guys, and you're welcome!
I think the reason you don't usually see this much detail from others is because they are more developmentally enabled and therefore "forget" to break down the little steps that are second nature to them but foreign language to a non-developer.
Thanks. I found it. and disabled it aready. now i just download the file in the write-up and boot into recovery, install zip from sd card and select my file correct?
I always wipe dalvik cache (in advance settings within Recover) before flashing anything.
So it's;
Disable Lagfix
Reboot (you'll hear the chick reversing the process)
Clear Dalvik
Install voodoo 5.0 from zip
reboot
re-enable lagfix and reboot one last time.
Then you'll need to download the voodoo controller app from the market to control the amp gain and set a few other eq settings.
Man you guys are fast. Thanks for the quick replies. WOW
Ive done all that except re-enable lag-fix. Noone ever mentions that step. Do I just remove the "disable_lagfix" file from the voodoo file and reboot?
I just enable/disable it through the voodoo menu in recovery, much easier than pushing files around. In your case i think you should be able to delete the file and reboot, but if not you may just need to go into voodoo and enable it that way (after removing the disable file)
I guess if I edit a post and dont finish it, the post gets deleted. Oh well, I asked how to reenalbe lag fix but i figured it out. Like I said I had to put the disable lag_fix file in the voodoo folder. I just had to remove it from that folder.
Is there a way to tell (besides the quickness and the extended battery life) how do i tell if its voodoo5? just out of curiousity
Just a guess here but possibly under About Phone the kernel version might? Mine is listed as 2.6.29
I would also think that when trying to use the Voodoo app it would fail if you didn't have the kernel so that would be a sign too, if that's what you're looking for.
Well thanks alot. Thats what mine was listed as also. And the voodoo app did work, so I guess I've got it. And I think thats all for now.
Now I think I might wait to see the awesome developers come up with for 2.2. I dont mind the stock 2.1 for now. I just dont want to keep flashing ROM's, if they might be close to getting a version of 2.2 going. I can wait....I think.
Thanks Again

2.2 is so close, you should be able to smell it. I've had it's froyo-ey goodness all over my phone and even with the issues we're still having, I flash it back every night when I get home to play with it.

{GUIDE} Rooting an HTC EVO Shift for Dummies!

First of all I noticed there is not an individual post that gives the entire root process for those that have never used ADB and probably don't have the SDK installed. In other words people that have never rooted a phone before and didn't think they ever would because they think it looks SUPER complicated.
There are several tutorial threads on this subject but I can guarantee that these are the most simple and detailed, START to FINISH, instructions regarding the root process of a HTC EVO Shift that you will find on the web. My information is compiled together from numerous sources and my own personal experience to give less confident people what they need in order to root their phone and remain at ease.
RED-REALLY IMPORTANT INFORMATION THAT YOU NEED TO READ
BLUE-Notes from my experience and further explanations
Purple-File names color coded for easy identification
NOTE: I'm not responsible if you mess up your phone, however this process worked perfectly for me and it is pretty hard these days to brick your phone unless your trying.
Rooting Process
1. First, on your computer download the program "SDK" from Here. Download the file called "installer_r10-windows.exe". Install it. When prompted for the install path paste "C:\AndroidSDK" over the default path. Once finished, open it from the Start Menu. It should be right on your "C:\" drive. Now, select "Install Packages" and make sure you install "Android SKD Platform-Tools". Once finished, close out of Android SKD and AVD Manager.
2. ONLY FOLLOW THIS STEP IF PROBLEMS INVOLVING LOADING SDK OCCURS. Next, Go to the start menu and right click on "My Computer". Select "Properties", then select "Advanced"/"Advanced System Settings", then "Environment Variables", now go to the lower box (system variables) and select "path" then "Edit". Paste the following as your path "C:\AndroidSDK\platform-tools", then select OK. This seems to have fixed most peoples problems.
3. Now, on your phone, press "Menu", then "Settings", then "Applications", then "Development". Check the box that says "USB Debugging" and press "OK" when the confirmation box appears.
4. Now, install HTC SYNC. There should be a folder on your SD card that came with the phone that has a HTC SYNC Setup in it. Just drag this to your desktop and run it. Otherwise download HTCSync. After installation, plug your phone into the computer and select "Disk drive" on your phones prompted menu.
5. Next, download the VISIONary app from Here and save it on your desktop. Once downloaded, Copy "com.modaco.visionaryplus.r14.apk" and Paste it to the SD Card root. Or in other words, drop the file in the first folder of the SD card on your phone.
6. Next, switch your phone's connection status back to "Charge Only". Use any file manager (free from the android marketplace "ES File Explorer") to install the VISIONary app on your phone. On your phone just find the visionary installer in the file manager and click to install. (Icon should look like a caution sign). Once complete, open VISIONary on your phone and click "Temproot Now". Wait for the rooting process to take place. Shouldn't take long at all. At this point your phone is rooted. However, you may noticed that your phone is running slower than normal. Go back into VISIONary and put a check next to the box that says "temp root on boot". Now power off your phone and then turn back on. This will root your phone before background apps are running, thus making it much faster.
7. Next, Download the root file Here. Once installed, connect your phone to your computer as a disk drive and right click on the "shift-root.zip", select extract here, then use browse to locate your phone, more specifically the root of your SD card. If you are having trouble extracting, download 7-Zip. Now change your connection type back to "Charge only" again.
8. Next, Open the command prompt (Start > Run > type "cmd") and paste the following...
Code:
cd C:\AndroidSDK\platform-tools
Hit enter, and type the following...
Code:
adb
If adb runs you're golden. Type this...
Code:
adb shell
Hit enter, you will see this...
Code:
$
Now type...
Code:
su
Hit enter... Now switch back to your phone. Superuser (an automatically installed program) will prompt you to "Allow" on your phone. Click it quickly to allow permissions! Now you will see this in the command prompt...
Code:
#
You have root permissions. If you didn't click allow fast enough just retype "su" and click enter again.
9. Next you have to Verify md5sum. Basically just make sure you copy and paste this EXACTLY...
Code:
md5sum /sdcard/Shift/hboot_orig.bin
Then hit enter.Your result should look like this...
Code:
386c19451e8dd18f9b98fad6b11be4c0 hboot_orig.bin
Make sure the numbers match. You may have some extra path in front of hboot_orig.bin.
If a message saying that the md5sum is not found, paste this code before verifying the md5sum. If it worked in the first place then ignore all this red...
Code:
busybox md5sum /sdcard/Shift/hboot_eng.nb0
It should work now...
Next copy and paste this exactly...
Code:
md5sum /sdcard/Shift/hboot_eng.nb0
Then hit enter.Your result should look like this...
Code:
60ec1006e6ec2e8acb370d6aad35b17e hboot_eng.nb0
Make sure the numbers match. You may have some extra path in front of hboot_eng.nbo. If these do not match do not proceed. Delete the "shift-root.zip" file on your sd card and redownload.
10. Now we're going to flash the "eng spl." This is where the unpleasant things can happen. Make sure you are in "adb shell" with superuser root permission (Granted a "#" symbol). This was explained in Step 8. If you are not in "adb shell" with root permissions (Granted a "#" symbol) then DO NOT proceed.
Now DO NOT REBOOT until you are instructed to do so!!! In the command prompt, paste this EXACTLY...
Code:
dd if=/sdcard/Shift/hboot_eng.nb0 of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18
Hit enter. You have flashed the "eng spl." Now we need to make sure it flashed properly.
11. Run this command to pull the newly flashed "hboot" to your sdcard. Copy and paste this EXACTLY...
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18 of=/sdcard/Shift/hboot_check.nb0
Hit enter. Next you need to check the "md5" to see if it matches. In the command prompt, Copy and paste this EXACTLY...
Code:
md5sum /sdcard/Shift/hboot_check.nb0
Hit enter. It should read...
Code:
60ec1006e6ec2e8acb370d6aad35b17e
if the "md5sum" matches then congratulations its safe to reboot!! you can skip the next bit and continue on to step 12.
If you absolutely cannot get the eng hboot to flash right then copy and paste this into the command prompt...
Code:
dd if=/sdcard/Shift/hboot_orig.bin of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18
Hit enter. Then pull it to check "md5". Copy and paste this exactly...
Code:
dd if=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18 of=/sdcard/Shift/hboot_check1.bin
Hit enter. Then check the "md5sum" by copying and Pasting this exactly...
Code:
md5sum /sdcard/Shift/hboot_check1.bin
Hit enter. It should read...
Code:
386c19451e8dd18f9b98fad6b11be4c0
If it doesn't, keep trying the previous 2 codes until it does but DO NOT!! reboot till it matches.
12. Now we can Perm root!!! First you need to reboot your phone into "bootloader". Do this by turning off phone and hold (power + volume down) till it boots into bootloader. Look at the top and make sure it says "s" off. If so, reboot the phone back into android by turning off and then back on.
13. Next Put the phone into airplane mode (hold down power and then click "airplane mode"). Go to setting, applications, manage applications and uninstall superuser.
14. Next, temp root with visionary. After you are temp rooted then attempt to perm root with visionary. Your phone will reboot and you are now officially perm rooted any changes you make will now stick on reboot. If it didn't stick, try doing steps 13 and 14 again.
YOUR PERMROOTED
Simplified Backup (with WiMax Backup!)
1. Find "ROM Manager" in the Market (free or paid) and install the app.
2. Open it and select "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery".

I understand there are already guides but they are not necessarily for people that have never rooted a phone before... And that is what this guide is for.
Other guides assume people have all the required software preinstalled and that they know what the guide is referring to when it says to "flash" certain things. They also assume people know how to Temp root using VISIONary and how to check the md5sum. This is for people that have done absolutely nothing to an android phone before and have no clue what the other guides are even talking about.
And yes I understand there are simplified guides that involve individual steps but this is a BEGINNING to END guide for Dummies so there is no need to jump across multiple threads.
To each their own..maybe someone will find a use

The process in the first Perm Root guide seems simple now, but when I was first looking at the guide it was a foreign language. Did my research by looking through about 6-7 other threads and finally had some idea as to what it was talking about.
Completed a successful root on my own phone and made the first draft of this tutorial along the way. More and more info has been added to this guide as I learn more and more. Now its about a month later and I've learned quite a bit about my phone and whole rooting process in general. I've once again updated the guide to make it as simple as possible with my newly acquired knowledge. This guide has over 2500 views on another thread I initially posted and numerous people have used it to root their phone so I figured I'd post it up here as well in order to help more people.
Nice A-Z guide. When I rooted mine a month ago, I needed to get info from 2 or 3 threads and tie missing pieces together. This ends that. It is a great start to finish guide. The other ones assume that you have done this before or only provide half of the entire solution needed to get everything done.
Only suggestion, clockwordmod backs up wimax after a particular version, you may want to state that as a disclaimer...else someone may grab an old version, assume they are fine, and will/could be screwed...

Similar, but I went one step further than Brando and explained every process in detail. For instance, rather than saying "setup adb" and "temproot your phone using visionary" I explained the process. I know that I myself looked up how to setup adb and temp root my phone when I got to those steps. Figured I'd put everything in one thread to make it easier for people that have never touched an android before.

Thankyou.
I stated that clockwork can backup wimax but I'll be sure to add that it is clockwork mod version 3.0.1.4 in the OP.

Small complaint, but kinda a big deal. You need to make sure to actually list your sources especially when you're taking directions word for word out of other threads. You must give credit where credit is due. That said, it is a great writeup, though a bit overwhelming. I wrote a guide that looks very similar to this at SDX: http://forum.sdx-developers.com/evo-shift-development/(guide)-root/
Not quite as detailed as yours, but informative nonetheless. Overall, great work, just site your sources in the OP and you'll be good to go.

My sources are, and always have been, at the bottom of my post...?
And basically everything has been changed rather than just taken word for word due to the fact that I wanted it to be as understandable as possible. Most of it I wrote myself using other guides as a framework but the steps are all the same...
Sorry about that. I read through the whole thing but totally missed it. I apologize profusely for missing that and the post that resulted from it. I guess I'm just used to seeing credits at the top. Again, my bad, I'll be more careful in posting criticisms in the future.
Lol. No hard feelings. I was just really confused.
Thank you !!!! Im a dummy and this helps alot!! I thought my phone wasnt getting temp root because it was running so slow using visionary, and now i know why!!!!
Soon to be shifty rooted!!!
Stuck at installing the "installer_r10_windows.exe"
I get the message of the JDK is not found. I have installed/reinstalled 3 times with only the same results.
Steps 3-7 went through without any problems at all.
Any thoughts?
Your going to need to install the Java Developement Kit (JDK) in order for the android SDK to be able to install.
Download
It will prompt you to register it and make a Oracle account after it installs.
It should have prompted you to download the JDK during the SDK install if you don't have it on your computer already?

I assumed that it would have been, but it wasnt. I've done it a couple of times already, but was not successful. Even after it was registered. It still keeps telling me that I need to install the JDK as it was not found.

[Tutorial] Use v6 supercharger script on HTC Explorer

Tutorial For installing v6 supercharger on your HTC Explorer.
DISCLAIMER - I am not a developer or active XDA forum poster, I am a forum reader and user. I worked out all the things in this thread is just personal interest, I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE/BRICK OF YOUR DEVICE IF YOU FOLLOWED THIS THREAD. If you don't agree, please close this thread right away.
hey people,
one of the users asked me to write the tutorial so i m doing this. I am not the developer and there is no help by me in the making of this amazing script. all the credit goes to zeppelinrox. Thanks dude! it does make the phone fly!!!
Requirements:
1) Rooted HTC Explorer. you can find an excellent tutorial by jaggyjaggs here.
2)Script Manager or Terminal Emulator to run the script (both are available in the market). Stock ROMs can also use SM to load up boot scripts!
3)supercharger starter kit. you can download it here. use the latest version. although you will have busybox installed if you use jaggy's tutorial, still to make sure.
4)v6 supercharger. download it from here. use latest version.
(in the above forum. lower the file, newer it is).
Installing/Using:
1. Download Supercharger startrer kit.
2.Download the V6_SuperCharger_for_Android*.txt/pdf script and save to your sdcard.
... Do NOT run the V6 SuperCharger install script at boot!
3. Extract Supercharger startrer kit to your sd card. you will have a SuperCharger_Starter_Kit folder there. also copy the v6 script to /sdcard.
4. Run script manager and browse to /sdcaard/SuperCharger_Starter_Kit. select StartMeUp.sh and select "run as root" (skull and crossbones "Su" icon - it turns green when selected).
5. wait for the script to finish.
6. Reboot your phone (not required but recomended).
7. a. Load the script (V6_SuperCharger_for_Android*.txt/pdf) into Script Manager and select "Run as Root" (skull and crossbones "Su" icon - it turns green when selected).
.... b. OR Use Terminal Emulator. Type su and enter, sh /sdcard/V6* and enter (provided you saved the script to the root of your sdcard)
8. Get SuperCharged! Just pick an option! The extra options (Engine Flush, etc.) explain things before doing anything
9. READ the script's output!
10. Afterwards, READ the html HELP FILE in the root of your SD Card!
11. Disable "Lock Home in Memory" if your ROM has this option.
12. Optional: For a quick status check, you can put a Script Manager widget for V6 SuperCharger on you desktop
13. Reboot - required if it's your first time SuperCharging the rom.
14. go to config in script manager and select browse as root for future.
How to Use the script for the first time:
let it perform its options. press enter when it asks to do so.
when it asks for if the home is locked in memory, say no if you dont knw. if u have set it in home memory, say yes (recomended not to keep in home memory for 100 % super charged).
I have attached the screenshots below. m sorry didnt know how to embed them. they are named according to the steps. check them out simultaneously.
1.Select option 2 for scrolling speed. press 2 and then press enter.
2.I myself use Build.prop but i suggest u use local.prop .depends on u.
3.Select die hard launcher (press any key and press enter).
4. Enable miscellaneous and 3g tweaks? i prefer select yes. (press any key and press enter).
5. Fix emissions? Enter Y for yes (recommended)
6. Run wheel alignment on boot? Enter Y for yes (recommended)
7. Run detailing for boot? Enter Y for yes (recommended)
8. Integrate? Enter Y for yes (recommended)
9. Disable AWEsome V6 animations? (press any key and press enter). the author deserves some credit.
10. Select an option (1-33) for supercharging. i suggest use 6 (balanced). i use 7 (aggressive ) for 512HP . it will be recomended to use 512 hp settings.
11. Now reboot your phone. the script should work.
12. Start the script again, run the detailing (19), wheel alignment (20) and fix emissions (21) once one after the other. it will keep giving some force close errors for some time that is just because its fixing things and aligning them. reboot your phone after some time when after u select force closes the same error occurs repeatedly. (i had to take the battery out !). perform all three. after that they will take care of themselves.
Voila you have the script working. the stock roms will have to restart the script everytime i guess. Whereas Jaggyrom and ABL(e) rom users wil have it working everytime.
make a quick admanager widget for quick settings.
Also this was my first tutorial. thanks for bearing with me.
Hit thanks if i helped. again i dont have any hand in the making of this awesome script. all the credit is for the developer zeppelinrox!
Script Manager
4. Run script manager and browse to /sdcaard/SuperCharger_Starter_Kit. select StartMeUp.sh and select "run as root" (skull and crossbones "Su" icon - it turns green when selected).

Any idea where I could have gone wrong?

well the script will start from begining everytime you run it. doesnt mean its not already working. after reboot just check if the final ooutput of the script says 100% supercharged or 75% supercharged just beforeit asks u to select n option. if it says so, its working.
OK ! I done all and now it works very well.
I have a litte question: what is the "AWEsome V6 animations" ??
I haven't notice any changes in the charging animation...

[GUIDE] For beginners - Root Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 SCH-i535/d2vzw

THIS METHOD:
- ONLY WORKED FOR ICS (Android 4.0.x)
- IT WILL NOT WORK FOR THE SGS3 RUNNING JELLY BEAN (Android 4.1.x)
But I hate it when threads say that ^ or worse...
they don't get updated and you read it and/or try it for NOTHING!
So here you go...
CLICK HERE FOR AN AWESOME JELLY BEAN THREAD
Step by step guide to Root your phone, Unlock the bootloader, and then install ClockWorkMod Recovery. Also some unnecessary mods at the bottom if you're interested. I know there is another really well written guide for rooting the SGS3 and other mods but I wanted to post this and hope to get it sticky'd for the beginners

Confirmed working with newest VZW update/patch:

GETTING ROOTED:
Navigate to https://www.dropbox.com/sh/1aksh2bikfsne43/wmpWRj7Und
Download:
- Verizon_Wireless... (USB Drivers for SGS3)
- Root Debug FS.7z... (7zip (freeware) file used to one-click root)
Credit to Noxous Ninjas as he created this program. It's the best I've found to easily root my S3 without feeling the need to baby sit the phone during rooting.
Thanks Droidstyle for reminding me about the credits Noxous Ninjas deserves!
Install (Computer):
- USB drivers
- Unzip Root Debug tool to a folder of your choice
Enable USB Debugging and Unknown Sources (Phone):
- Settings -> Developer Options -> Tick USB debugging
- Settings -> Security -> Tick Unknown source
Plug in phone to computer using OEM USB cable:
- Allow the drivers to complete (the little balloon pop-up in the right hand corner will say "Device ready/installed" -something to that effect)
MUST BE RAN AS ADMINISTRATOR
Navigate to your extracted Root Debug FS folder (Computer):
- Double-click "RootDebugfs"
- Choose option 1 (press 1 and then enter)
- Read the disclaimer, IF YOU AGREE, press y, then enter
- USB drivers reminder appears, press any key to continue
- Unknown Sources/USB Debugging reminder appears, press any key to continue
- Yet another informational message appears (READ THIS ONE), then press any key to continue
- Root process starts -> WAIT UNTIL IT COMPLETES | DO NOT UNPLUG YOUR DEVICE
- Once complete you will need to open the Superuser app and click through the initial dialog to actually start the program/allow it to run in the background. -- Thanks Whyzor!
ON YOUR PHONE: Navigate to https://www.dropbox.com/sh/1aksh2bikfsne43/wmpWRj7Und
Download the following from the APKs folder:
- ez_unlock.apk (Also found on Google Play store, free)
- rom_manager.apk (Also found on Google Play store, free)
- Normally when downloading them right to your phone it will immediately prompt you to install them, choose install in both instances
- Open your app drawer and open EZ-Unlock
- Accept/Grant the app SuperUser permissions, select Unlock, you should hear "That was easy" and the word "Unlocked" should show in green at the top of the screen
BEFORE CONTINUING: it is recommended that you are connected to a stable WiFi network to ensure a successful flash!
- Open your app drawer again and open ROM Manager
- Select "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery"
- Find and select "Samsung Galaxy S3 (Verizon)"
- You'll see the blue bar at the top indicating progress, when it nears the end you'll need to Accept/Grant the app SuperUser permissions
- You may receive a message that Touch recovery is available, install if you'd like (I have read some posts a week or two ago about Touch recovery not always working flawlessly though, just FYI)
***AT THIS POINT ROOTING, BOOTLOADER UNLOCKING, AND CWM RECOVERY ARE COMPLETED/INSTALLED***
RECOMMENDED! BUT OPTIONAL: MAKING A NANDROID BACKUP
- I would recommend having your preferred apps and home screens set up prior to making a recovery
- From the ROM Manager application select "Reboot into Recovery"
- FYI: Recovery mode can be entered manually as well, turn the phone off.
- While off, press AND HOLD Vol. Up, Home, Power
- Once you see the "Samsung" boot screen you can release (There will also be some blue text in the top left hand corner, this indicates recovery mode is booting)
- Recovery mode navigation: Vol. Up/Down moves the selection, Power selects it
- Select "backup and restore"
- Select "backup to external sdcard"
- Wait for it to finish (Usually takes about 5 minutes)
- Select back to get to the main menu
CONGRATS!
- If all that worked your phone is now rooted and (hopefully) a backup has been made after rooting. This way if you start tinkering and break something you can (hopefully) restore back to this recovery.
REMOVE PERSISTANT/ONGOING WIFI NOTIFICATION AND POPUP (REQUIRES ROOT)
ON PHONE: Navigate to Google Play https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.speedsoftware.sqleditor
- Download: SQLite (Yes it's a paid app, support our Devs!)
- Open the app, Accept/Grant the app Superuser permissions
- Select Settings Storage
- Select settings.db
- Select system
- Long-press "wifi_offload_network_notify"
- Select "Edit Record"
- Change the value field to "0" (zero)
- Select Save
- Press back key
- Select "Secure"
- Long-press "wifi_networks_available_notification_on"
- Select "Edit Record"
- Change the value field to "0" (zero)
- Select Save
- Reboot your phone
UI MODS (Not necessary but are definitely improvements in the UI)
- Notification bar toggles mod: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1775235
- More (personalized versions): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28829000&postcount=67
--Above files are flashed using recovery
HOW TO: FLASH A .ZIP USING RECOVERY (REQUIRES ROOT & UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER)
**ONLY FLASH A ZIP UPDATE THAT IS COMPATIBLE WITH YOUR MODEL AND OS**
- Know where you downloaded the file to (Preferrably external SD card)
- Reboot into recovery
- Choose "install zip from sdcard"
- Choose "install zip from (external) sdcard" -or wherever you saved it
- Choose the desired file you want to flash
- Scroll up (it's quicker) to select "Yes - ..."
- The file(s) will flash (progress at bottom), once it's done you can flash another or go back to the main menu and reboot!
Great write up. This should be sticked instead of the tutorials that are already there.

HELP!!!!
Followed this to a "T". Everything went smoothly and appeared successful until I flashed a rom. I flashed Jellybean CM10 for VZW. Now all I get is a screen that says "System software not authorized by Verizon Wireless has been found on your phone. Please turn off your phone and go to the nearest Verizon Wireless store for help.".
I tried booting into recovery manually so I could do restore my backup, but i can't even get back into it. It just keeps taking me to this screen.
Followed the guide to return to stock using odin and repeated all of these steps.... i'm back in business now.... phew!!!!
This is Noxous Ninjas root Tool! its pretty obvious when it says "Noxious Ninja" at the top of the program. Download both versions and compare them.

This guide is the best I've read yet!
I've been casually reading these forums for over two years and still haven't decided to lose my rooting virginity, probably because every guide always seems so damn confusing. This looks nice and simple.
3 questions:
1- If I'm not going to be putting on a custom ROM yet, do I need to continue and install CWM right away? Can I just wait and do it when I finally take the next step? (I really just want to root to get rid of some bloat for right now. I know I'll last a day though where I start wanting to use mods and tweaks though, will I need to install CWM for that?)
2- Can I just ODIN back to stock instead of bothering with a Nandroid backup? I keep nothing on my phone that I feel is of importance for backing up. Everythings in the cloud.
3- When I go to flash my first ROM, does it need to be on the internal SD or on the external SD card (I have a jillion laying around, but they are only 2GB a piece)?
Thanks!

Even if you don't flash a custom ROM or custom .zip update a backup is nice to have in case you make one little tweak that breaks something. Eliminates the hassle of having to flash back to stock and start from scratch again.

You sure can. Keep in mind ODIN flashing does have a higher risk than a Nandroid backup. You simply cannot perma-brick your phone if there is no cable plugged into it.

Having either a full ROM or a .zip update ROM flash on the external SD is the best scenario. Part of a nice clean install is to make sure a factory reset was done (which wipes the internal SD). If your ROM is on the internal SD... well you know the rest lol
Thanks! Just want to make sure folks are properly credited for thier work...and again nice guide!

*You may skip these (Coz the script tells you everything,a bit more precisely)
Yet for Beginners,lets read...
1.OOM groupings and priority fixes
v6 actually groups your apps according to the priorities they are used.Like the home Launcher should always
have the highest priority, followed by the soft keyboard and so on...(Sometimes your launcher gets killled
after playing a heavy game,so thats what wont happen after setting actual priorities)
2.Low memory killer values
Linux or android defines certain values the the system Ram should should always keep free for better
functioning of your device
This script will let you set the values, say high(For gamers) or low(MultiTasking) according to your requirement
and Tests/experience
256hp,512 hp,786+(In the script) are all LMK option values you can choose from
There's also a MKF calculator that calculates OPTIMUM minfree valuse based on your device RAM
3.Detailing
This will optimize all sqlite3 databases found on your device.
Resulting in faster database access and less ram usage for smoother performance.
4.Engine Flush-O-Matic
As you use your device, your cache keeps growing and your device becomes slow
In linux RAM never remains FREE,the free ram is always used to store device cache
Flush-o-matic Cleans this cache+Useless RAM usage and allows you to have a device, again with optimum RAM
You can set the time to what this script will run,so it starts automatically in the background & works for you!
5.Fixalign
This fixes permissions of all the apps and then Zipalings them(Simulatneously! The only Script of its kind! )
This basically helps optimize all the apps and less ram consumption, thus a Faster device!
6.Wheelalignment and fix emissions
These zipaling and fix permissions, but separately
7.BulletProof Apps
There are few apps which your frequently use,so this will keep those in memory (Your choice apps)
so they are quickly accessible without them having to start each time!
-=Starter Kit=-(Recommended,not compulsory)
Always use the Latest busybox (Atleast 1.16.2 and above)
contains Recommeded busybox squite3 and zipalign binary

ok. 2 questions: 1. i am following along with you in the video, but i never see you activate the starter kit? should i assume you already did this? if so, how can i activate the starter kit?
i am using i9300XXEMB6, OMEGA 43.3 XXEMC3
i already put the starter kit on my INTERNAL SD CARD, and tried to run it from recovery. two times i tried to run the starter kit, it said, "installation failed". so i guess i have not activated the starter kit yet. however, i did down load smanager, and was following you along until you chose the script, and i haven't run the starter kit.
so question 2. can i run the script along with you, or do i need to wait until i run the starter kit?

You are suppose to install the starter kit exactly the same way you ran the script!
It is not flashable in cwm
Unzip the starter kit, then throught script manager run the script when it again asks you to install
1.busybox(as i said it is not compulsory to install the starter kit)
If your busyboz is 1.16 or greater..you are fine without the kit
If you get errors (segmentation fault) while running fixaling and detailing u need the kit..or start with the scripts

ok, so i figured out the starter kit, and tried to run my installation right along with your installation on the video. but mine kept getting faster or slower than yours, and so i would get off of where you were. sometimes my installation went much faster than yours, and while i was waiting for yours to catch up, it chose not to allow the choice i was waiting to find out about, so it was not installed. how can i go back and change those choices?
also, how can you tell if you are fully (100%) supercharged?

Hit option 30...for changing shoices
Might wanna hit thanx
^Coz We dont just Root phones for Fun
yes of course i hit thanks for you doing this video. but i don't understand where do i hit option 30?
i didn't see what the script said about my supercharge, because it went too fast a lot of the time.
---------- Post added at 03:11 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:26 PM ----------
i am only 50% because i didn't run ultimate jar patcher tool. but i don't understand how to run it. it says on the op to run through supercharger, but when i run supercharger it just says i haven't run it yet, and sends me back to xda page. i have it down loaded, and on my phone in both the external sdcard, and the 0sdcard (internal) so why isn't supercharger running it?
or how do i run it?

There u enter 30..and select scrolling speed as slow...
You might wanna hit thanx
^Coz We dont just Root phones for Fun
i have run it several times. each time it says that everything is going great. but when i finish, i am still only at 50% sc. so i posted my logs on the v6 thread, as it asked me to do. but there is no comments throughout that execution that says why my launcher is not sc, only that it isn't.
I had replied but it would be good to also note here that if, while patching, the before and after ADJs are the same, nothing is changed.
So in cases of it not working, be sure to only patch a previously unmodified services.jar.

ok. so here would then be my next question. since it obviously did it successfully at some point for the first time, why didn't it supercharge my launcher at that point? then i would not have patched it again.

i have searched this entire site, and there is nothing on how to find or check adj's. also, how do i choose which services.jar to patch?
ok madaditya, time for another video!!! lol!
Well I think the only tools to check ADJs for groupings are by me
Ultimatic shows them just before applying settings.
You can grab services.jar from your roms flashable zip and put it where ultimatic tells you to.
Problems happen when a rom half asses the patch to services.jar and values are not consistent in both ProcessList.smali and ActivityManagerService.smali
Anyway, I'm working on a workaround/fix so that ultimatic uses the values in PL.smali as a last resort and instead will try and get the values from AMS.smali first.
This lessens the likelihood of it not patching due to different values in the 2 smali files.

Strange!
Get Aroma FIle manager from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646108
1.flash it via cwm and browse to system/etc/init.d and delete all scripts there!
reboot and it should boot..
2.Try supercharging again
3.If the problem continues post the logs from data/ on to the original Supercharger thread(links in OP) thread
Note-Always make sure you use the latest scripts
Hope this helps
