Hi,
Wonder if anyone has tried the D838 model in the UK? I'm on the T-Mobile/EE network but not too bothered about 4G.
Thanks in anticipation.

Hi John,
I've had a D838 model in the UK for the past fortnight, imported from Hong Long. Haven't used the 4G because I'm on GiffGaff, which uses the O2 network, and the D838 can't get 4G on the bandwidth they have (I'm switching to Three very soon though, which should solve that "problem").
But mine works absolutely fine here, no problems whatsoever. Switched from a Note 2, which I'd had for almost two years - that was the best phone I'd ever had, but the G Pro 2 is substantially better - even the infra-red controller works perfectly (which, for some reason, I didn't expect)!
It's a fantastic phone!
Only downside at the moment is a lack of easy root for the phone, but no doubt that will come.
Any particular questions you had??

Thank you for the information. Very helpful
Hi
Thanks very much for your reply. That certainly helps.
Where did you get yours from and what did you pay for it?
I'm still in two minds as to whether to wait for the D837 European model as the frequency coverage might be better suited to the UK and any travel in Europe.
Also, just wondering if LG might up the spec on the D837.
Thanks, John.

I've used mine on Giffgaff (which piggybacks on the O2 network) but now switched to Three so I can use 4G (the D838 won't work with O2's 4G network, but does work with Three's).
Calls and data have all worked absolutely fine on both networks - not a single problem.
EE's 4G works on the 1800MHz band, which the D838 can use.
One small warning about buying at that price - be careful you don't get hit with customs charges. I bought mine at £478 because they guaranteed no customs charges (it was sent to a UK address, then sent to me from there), but I bought a previous phone nice and cheap from HK and had to pay about £60 to customs, which meant it was no cheaper!

I'm with Three and I didn't have to change anything. Used 4G for the first time last night - jeez, that's fast!!! :good:
In fact, thinking about it, I haven't had to change any settings, except to disable Taiwanese language in the keyboard.
How are you finding the D838 on EE?
Thinking hard about getting one and don't know whether to wait for the D837.
Not too worried about 4g at the moment as their H+ is fast enough for me currently
Cheers
I'm also in this situation too, thinking i should wait for the D837 variant just for the added 800MHz band (as EE will soon use that too), the D838 version is already well less than £400 from UK sellers on ebay.
What is LG delaying for i wonder? If Motorola release a decent phablet before the D837 comes out, I could be swayed to that model.
I've just bought a new one on eBay from a UK seller for £320. I'm on EE but don't have 4g in my area. I'll keep you guys posted after I receive it tomorrow.
I'm rather hoping that everything works as it should as it looks an awesome device. I'm coming from the G2. ?

£320! Wow good price. Cheapest I've seen is £354.
Also on a G2 so would be interested to hear your thoughts.

I have my concerns but I'm really hoping that it works well in this country. The device looks awesome, I was going to look at the G3 but if this one doesn't have any localisation issues then I will be a very happy man. I had never even considered LG devices until I bought the G2 on a whim in January and have to say that I'm very pleasantly surprised with the quality (and value) that they provide.
All being well I'll be able to hold my head up high again next to my wife's Note 3.
The G Pro 2 works fine in the UK.
The only thing that doesn't work is QVoice, but seeing as no one cares about it then it doesn't matter one bit.
Still a bit puzzled why LG never released the D837 at all though.

Received my Taiwanese D838 yesterday put my EE sim card and 64gb micro sd in it then booted up. No issues at all, just like I'd bought a UK device. Set my languages to English UK of course. Wow, don't know what I was worried about what a great device and to cap it all, I plugged it into the LG PC Suite and updated from 10e to 10f without an issue. For anybody in the same boat as me, just get one, you won't regret it.
Great news. Tempting, tempting, tempting.
It has the option for recent apps button in the nav bar doesn't it? [

Dear community
Im looking to buy a g930fd s7 duos. I live in Europe and I'm a native dutch speaker. I've been looking around at ebay and other webstores, but I see that many importers import the phones from taiwan or china. I've also read that some of these phones don't support many languages (some just have english, mandarin chinese and some other language ). I suppose you could solve it by putting another rom on the machine, but still. I'd like to enjoy the phone without rooting it after 1 day. Has anyone any info concerning this issue?
Thanks!
Well, you can always flash a dutch rom onto the device and that doesn't need root and doesn't trip knox. Also can you use the firmware from the G930F because all have build in sim management so even that dual sim works on that firmware. The dual sim model has the same radio's as the normal one so there is nothing that can hold you back for using it in europe and even world wide.
I'm using one G930FD, working perfectly on KPN and Vodafone. I bought from eglobal website. The default rom had dutch language though I use it in english. And as suggested above, you can always flash an official dutch rom. I have flased the BTU (UK), since it has minimum bloatware compared to Dutch rom and more faster updates. The phone retains dual sim functionality in spite of flashing any single sim official rom.

One more thing avoid the Chinese G9300 since it comes without Google apps. It also has different 3G and 4G bands. Recommended to get only G930FD from a reputed seller.

Hi Guys
Just waiting for my new Mate 9 to be delivered from Clove. I've realised that it comes with a Euro 2 pin plug. Does anyone know where I can buy a *UK* three pin plug from - are they 'different' from others given that it's going to need to be a supercharge type?
Cheers
Steve
Aren't there any adapters? So you can change the 2 pin to the Uk standard?
Sent from my Huawei Mate 9
Yeah just use a good quality EU to UK adapter. A fused one preferably.

Order one from Hong Kong. They use the three pin, at least that's what I got in my international version from Hong Kong.

I haven't got any links to the plug alone, I ordered my Mate 9 from Wonda Mobile, they may have some. If not try Aliexpress. They can't be too hard to come by.
Wonda didn't have any, so off to look round aliexpress. Thanks for the suggestions! ??
Update: Nor aliexpress
Perhaps just wait it out, the phone went on sale with 3 on Friday here so you'd imagine accessories etc will be quick to follow.
You're right CB. Patience isn't my strongest suit! ??

Ok had talked to samsung and I'm sure you all aware now about problems with samsung pay.
Straight to the point is that samsung pay is IMEI based app which will only work in country where it was issued. In other words it's region locked. So if we can somehow unlock the region then we might be able to use samsung pay on it.
This pissed me off so much. I bought the watch because it had samsung pay but didn't know about these region locked thing. Thought it's only for bank cards of country that support it, not about region locking
This suck big times

I have the same issue. I live the in the UK and I bought my Gear S3 Frontier in Dubai. When I opened Samsung Pay on the Gear S3 in the UK (released yesterday) I couldn't understand why it was only allowing cards from Arab Emirates banks. Anybody have any fixes for this?

Further update... it appears my previous statement is incorrect. Only certain UK banks have signed up to Samsung Pay at the moment. I have just tested a Nationwide (UK) Debit Card on my Samsung Gear S3 (purchased in Dubai) and it works. Apologies for misleading anyone.

Ah, you're lucky then as the UK IMEI's aren't getting the app.
Tried to find this information the past week and found nothing but I bought the phone anyway.
It runs absolutely fine on UK networks and Google Play was already installed from factory.
This is the HK Edition of the phone running International Release of the Firmware and is in full English.
The JOVI AI button can be changed to a different app too.
If anybody has any more questions about this specific model feel free to post here or message me.

Strange that they use Google in Hong Kong but not in China

Yeah that's the exact same EAN code as the Hong Kong one.
Seems like Hong Kong is selling International versions.
It's expected considering Hong Kong is its own separate entity from China
Where did you get yours through? I bought one that shipped from Hong Kong through AliExpress, and it's for sure the Chinese variant. The phone arrived with like 9% battery, and they clearly just set up the phone and added Google Play. The UI was still in Chinese too, so I had to derp through the UI using my current phone with the Google Translate camera to switch languages. Also had to use a loophole to set up a Vivo Account to change my settings, even though (from what I hear) the global version doesn't require a Vivo Account to do that.
I feel like I'm the exception and not you, so I'm just trying to figure out if there's an easy way I could return this and get the global version in the US.
Which seller did you use. I have Chinese model but would like to sell mine and get the International version, so Jovi button can be re mapped, etc
How u change Jovi button?
May I know where did you get the Hong Kong edition from?

This is the exact one I bought Ebay ITM 232868306722
You should be alright I'm guessing with any that claim to be the HK version. There are other ebay listings too so just search "Vivo Nex S HK"
Also I'd like to add they said shipping would take 2-3 weeks and it in fact only took 5~ days (ordered on Friday got Wednesday)
In fact HK and China do not share the same (restrictive) politics ... It has something to do with the history of HK. Thats the reason, they do have Google or Porsche or Lamborghini and stuff like that.
In the UK. Got my Nex s from Wonda Mobile. Super service. 5 days direct from Hong Kong. Black 128gb International Version. In English. Google Play factory installed, side button is google lens/google assistant out of the box & UK plug. Very quick phone & build quality. 3rd generation finger print sensor works really well. Screen is excellent with really good quality colours etc. (Not as super crisp as Galaxy S8 but not far off). Cameras take great pictures. Software works great for the UK straight out of the box. Spend a little time setting it up fresh rather than from a back up and its perfect. Only negative for me so far would be the screen sound casting. Although conversations are clear the max volume level is to low. Overall though great phone at the price point
