WiFi Drops after sleep - Galaxy Tab 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have a galaxy tab 2 obviously since I am here lol. Anyhow I just recieved the 4.0.4 update to my tablet and seem to be having problems with keeping my wifi connection. Now, if I am using the tablet to paruse the internet etc... I am ok. Even if Iput the tablet into stand by for a few minutes and wake it up, its ok. The problem is when the tablet spends a signifigant amount of time in standby, at least an hour. When "waking" up the tablet i can never connect to my wifi anymore without a system restart. Anyone else having this anoying proble since our last update? If I have d/l's going in the background etc... they all get cut off because the wifi drops. Other than this problem, I a loving my galaxy tab! Awesome these things are

Do you have the setting "keep wifi connected during sleep" set to always?

[Q] Wi-Fi On and Off

Don't matter what rom I'm running and what kernel I am using the wifi connection suddenly turns off and then on automatically. I've checked the inactivity politician to never, and that's not the problem.
Does someone have the same problem?

Nope. My WiFi works great. I have the sleep policy set to screen off, turns back on immediately when I wake it up and I never drop it. The only odd thing I have is that sometimes while on WiFi it will pick up a mobile data connection as well. Doesn't interrupt anything its just weird.
Yes, I am. And I think quite a lot of users as well.
The wifi hardware in this Nexus S is ****.
Believe me, try to live with it, it is a hardware issue. Use 3G or invest better / more wifi access point.
I have tried a lot of things but im still with this boring thing .... Any solution???

Wifi Switching On/Off On It's Own?

Hey, I'm using an NS4G and I've noticed three times that my wifi turns on and starts scanning for networks without me ever explicitly telling it to. Any ideas?

Do you have it set to never sleep or the default android. Default sleep when screen is off.

Mine does this when im a bit too far away from the router.... weak wifi unfortunately
I'm using CM7 nightly 8 (Flashing to 12 right now) and my wifi sleep policy is set to never.
I noticed this problem happening while I was at my friend's high school graduation. I had the wifi off since I wasn't at home, and multiple times throughout the ceremony I saw it back on without me ever telling it to.

[REQ] wireless network manager that works

Has anybody had any luck with wireless network connection managers on the Charge? I used Green Power on the Fascinate, but it doesn't seem to work here. Even if I have 4G disabled, data will not turn on when the phone wakes up. Active data when the phone is sleeping is killing my battery.

Are you talking about wifi? If so then you can set it to turn off when the phone is asleep. Settings-wifi settings-advanced settings.
If you're talking about 3g/4G data then I guess you'd just toggle it on and off via the pull down switch?

I'm mostly talking about the 3G/4G data. I manually toggle wifi when I'm at home, and have it off when I'm out. Green Power did a good job managing the mobile data while the phone was sleeping, but it's not working well on the Charge. It will turn the data off after the screen turns off, but it won't turn back on when the phone is unlocked. I'm trying Juice Defender, bit so far, I'm not sure if it is working, since the free version doesn't have too many custom settings.
*update* JD isn't working for me. Mobile data was still on while the screen was off for at least 10 minutes. uninstalled. I'll keep trying. */update*
I have also noticed that this phone does not sleep when it's charging, it locks in at 100 MHz when the phone should be sleeping (never saw this on the Fascinate). I'm running PBJ_voodoo under stock rooted rom.

So it puts in like airplane mode when sleeping, Pretty slick.
I would still go into your wireless settings to have your wifi turn off when at sleep for when you're at home. It saved me a ton of battery at the house and that feature is not available for most phones.

Somewhat like airplane mode, except only for mobile data, voice signal stays active.

I can confirm that both Green power and JD do not work for data control...well JD does sorta...it will turn the 4G off and on but it will have issues turning it back on if it changed to 3g..there is a mode that you can highlight if it has troubles re engaging the data but it takes a few minutes and then it totally resets the connection including the phone service...at least thats what happened for me. Both control the wifi fine though. I have yet to find a service that can control the 4g consistently but I would like one
WTF?!? I live just outside of an LTE zone, so I have my network set to CDMA. I've gone all day with data turned off, and battery is still at 30% (16.5 hours since unplugged). I've switched the data on a couple times during the day, but only for short periods, which is what these apps are supposed to do. It just sucks that they don't work. Even on a good day with the fascinate, I never got close to this kind of battery. *sigh*

That's weird. This morning, I plugged in my router and connected my phone in. It seems like the connection of the Wifi is very stable now. I will wait and see what cause the frequent disconnection yesterday .....

Now, I noticed something. My router blink red sometimes and then my phone discontent itself from the router.
I was thinking it has something to do with Vol if power. On the router power plug requite 120 v , and I am using only 110 v. This morning, when I started using the router, it was fine and then after an hour or two later, the light from the router keep blinking almost every minute

Same situation with CM rom in my samsung galaxy S3.
Stock rom wifi was great, but CM 10.1 wifi drops every 10mins, and take about 3mins to restore.
Been told must be phone hardware related.
Need some solutions as well.
That sux, my wifi stays in, just the range is crappy. Very very very off....
