Hi,
I want to watch real 3D movies etc but what format do I have to get? Tried a Half Side by Side but only got 2 identical movies at the same time... plz help
grtz. Raymond
That's the correct movie file. Hit the menu button on your phone and you can set up your 3d format. Your only a couple of button presses away from watching 3d movies

I think I got it... had to convert it to Mp4 first and now I can choose different styles...left, right over/under and normal ...
Sorry for the noobish questions, but its not really the effect I had in mind. I had the idea it would be more like that demo movie with the surfers.
Or did I convert it in a wrong format. I've choosen 480*800.
I'm not sure exactly what file you have but a normal 3D movie will look like the same movie being played twice at the same time, side by side. They are actually slightly different - one is for the left eye, one is for the right.
By pressing the Menu button while this file playing, you can choose the 3D format that the video player should try to recognise. You should pic the format that shows the split screen, with a L in one frame and a R in the other.
The video player will then merge the two frames and play them in 3D, using your parallax screen.
If the file plays as you described, you to not need to convert it. Use the original file

Well it was called Sky 3D the Reef.mkv.
While playing this format I didn't have the option of choosing display style. With the converted one I could...
So correct me if I'm wrong, I have to download 3D SBS movies etc and then convert it into Mp4 ?
Sent from my LG-P920 using xda app-developers app
you don't need to convert the file.
you must use the default player.
while watching the movie on the screen you will see a button to select 2D and 3D.
Select the 3D button and then the Menu button.
There you can configure the SBS 3d

Jealous of those Vibrant owners with their Avatar movie app? Say no more! This is a simple app that allows you to play Avatar on your phone and show it off just like the stock Vibrant app.
You must have an Avatar mp4 on your sdcard or internal storage to use this. Either download or rip Avatar to an mp4 format. (Technically you don't HAVE to have Avatar.. you could make the app play a different video. But it will still have an Avatar icon )
What to do:
1. Install app.
2. Open app and select your Avatar video file from the video list.
3. Pick video player and set as default when prompted.
4. That's it! After picking the video for the first time the app will automatically play the movie when the app is opened.
Enjoy
How is this any different than just playing the video in the video player?

If you want I can post the source and you can change the icon to whatever you want. Or you can open the apk and change the icon. Up to you. It will work with any video though

Just extract the APK at the beginning of this post with any file extractor, go into the Res folder and there you will find the icons. Modify them , save and re-compress all the folders. Then use SignAPK to resign it. Install the app and follow the instructions at the beginning of the post to point it to your movie.

Hi guys i have got a problem with movie player as ther is no No 3d formatter in its settings. I downloaded hubble telescope 3d in mkv ext. 1900x1080 and its being played in side by side mode with no options to change please help

Sorry I'm not english.
Play your video and click 3D the screen, when you have 2 times the 3D button ON THE SCREEN, one 3D and one with a tree, clic 2 times on the sensitive button option at the left of home, you have the choice of the style 3D on the screen.
Instead of pressing the 3d button press the menu button and you should find the 3d formatter there.

For the last few weeks, I’ve been experimenting with different video codecs and 3D converters to make movies such as Tron Legacy and Avatar watchable on my phone without 3D glasses. The problem was that the phone would not recognize the 3D content, even if I used the official H.264/MPEG-4 AVC codec for BlueRay 3D. Tonight, I stumbled on the solution. Here are the steps to get the movie to show on the LG Optimus 3D:
Obtain a 3D stereoscopic movie and make sure the frames are side by side (as shown below). Also verify that the file format of the movie is compatible with the LG Optimus 3D (H.264, H.263, DivX, MKV, WMV-9, ASF, AVI, 3GP and MP4). Also, if you are planning to use an external MicroSD card, the movie must be smaller than 4GBs (as Android only recognizes the FAT file system) or cut up into smaller than 4GB parts. Note that most native BlueRay 3D movies are enormous (over 17GB)!
Once the movie is on the phone (via USB host on MicroSD or on the hard drive itself), play the movie using the Gallery app. Click on the little 3D icon at the bottom right of the screen. The movie will still show side by side, but will enter 3D mode.
Click the Android options button (the icon looks like a solid box inside a clear box at the bottom left of your phone) and you will get the following options:
Click on the 3D Formatter option. It will provide you with a number of 3D options including Left/Right, Right/Left, Top/Bottom and Fullscreen 3D. Select Left/Right (first option on the left, as shown below):
A message will appear that says: “This 3D data is saved as valid 3D contents with the formatter which you’ve chosen“. From that point on, the phone will recognize this movie as 3D and the little 3D icon will appear at the bottom of the movie. The good news is, as soon as you launch it, the movie will run in 3D.
Enjoy your movie!

Are you using a custom ROM that doesn't have 3D, like CM7?
If not, maybe try renaming the files to .avi to get the player to recognise them.
Or navigate to the files using a file explorer without the video player open and then open them from the file explorer..

You guys are doing it all wrong...
First off, get MeGUI for PC, re-encode your 3D movies (I don't care what source, there's plenty of tutorials online) as a SBS (Side-By-Side) to ~1.5GB @ 800x448 (16:9), with whatever audio you want. (I usually reuse the original 5.1) Compile your results as .mkv
Get the application 3DV Player (Chinese android app, works on both Froyo and GB), and load up your re-encoded 3D SBS MKV file, hit the 3D button at the top right, and adjust your depth to your preference, and viola.
The LONGEST and most DIFFICULT part of this is the encoding in MeGUI and it's really not all that difficult as it is long. I've already done this for Tron: Legacy (SUPER BEAUTIFUL btw), and Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, and plan on doing more of my 3D collection (which i'm now building because of this phone). It's worth the effort, especially when you can fit upwards 4 full length 3D movies onto 1 8gb SD card (or 2 movies on the phone's memory with space to spare).

CyanogenMod does NOT SUPPORT 3D. Therefore NO 3D FEATURES WILL WORK. Please check if your ROM supports 3D before attempting to do anything in 3D. There are a lot of ROMs floating around the forums that DO support 3D, like Prometheus ROM and Acidhazard Kitchen, try installing one of those and try again.
For anyone else reading this thread, CM DOES NOT SUPPORT 3D. Please do not post that CM does not support 3D, it's right there on the CM thread that it DOES NOT SUPPORT 3D OR HDMI OUT. Please read all disclaimers!
I know that. I'm using Prometheus. Just explaining it could be the guy's problem

I thought you were replying to me, not expounding on my previous instructions to elaborate that he couldn't do anything in 3D.
Once you have it re-encoded to fit the 2gb limit, and with the SBS or Half-SBS format, play it, it will not be 3d YET, switch the 3D toggle, capacitive menu button, 3d formatter, then choose the sbs format and voilá.
has anybody tried micro sd formarted to ntfs to bypass the 4gb limit i think iblumind`s and sano`s kernels had ntfs support
You don't need to format the SD card with my method, my method maximizes the space taken since we DON'T need 1080p 3D or even 720p 3D on our phones. I don't know why everyone's going about trying to fix the phone for the video file when it's FAR easier (and FAR more productive) to fix the video file for the phone! Also the battery drain (even using hardware acceleration) to decode 1080p, even 720p is greater than if you encode at the native res of the phone.
Oh hmr007 so genius. Now we can play 3d 1080p movie x264 avc like from yify on Optimus 3D. 2011 hardware
Unfortunately the subtitle will crash. So the subtitle srt file removed. Fle video on mp4 btw. Example video.mp4 video.srt
Srt will crashed the player on 3d

yes i played 3d videos in CM7. I turned off auto rotation (system settings-display). after that select only 0 degrees and turned off animation (Settings-CM7 Settings-Display I dont remember it now") and Edit mx player settings to always use landspace mode while playing.
that is all. i can play 3d videos without bugs. ( If you dont turn off rotation video gets bug. video starts shaking)

If you remove your battery or hard reboot, you have to repeat this procedure as the phone "forgets" this setting.

So I finally got some time to screw around with this and nothing works.
I mean literally nothing. I'm starting to think I have to upload the Video to Youtube, then re-download it to get it to work on this phone, and that's a far stretch.
Can someone actually post screens on how this is done? I am starting to think that the 3D capability of this phone is just B.S. if you can't import files to it.
One other thing I'd like to mention, the programs to which the tutorials suggest aren't the same version or appear to have a different UI and/or presets missing from them.
