Hi All
I have a Google Nexus S, bought last year and it was working fine till last week.
It came with Android Ginger Bread, and I rooted the phone and installed several custom ROMs including Cyanogenmod.
Recently I installed Android Jelly bean ROM, and it was working fine.
Last week, I wanted to try the Cyanogedmod 10 (on Jelly bean). I went to recovery mode for taking a backup.
But I saw a recent backup which was taken before 2 months. I thought that should be fine.
I cleared all cache and did a factory reset for getting ready for the new ROM.
Now something went wrong!
I tried to reboot the device, but I could only see the usual animated CROSS logo( with four colours) for ever.
I even left the phone for more than a hour. But it is not rebooting.
//SO CAN'T RELOAD THE PREVIOUSLY WORKING OS
I tried restoring from the previous backup.. It shows that "installation complete".
After that while rebooting the device just hangs in the same place.
//SO CAN'T RESTORE FROM MY PREVIOUS BACKUP
I thought of copying the new rom in the device. I could not succeed.
I tried adb command through my SDK.
ADB is not listing my device.
In all the forums it is mentioned that to enable the USB debugging from the phone.
I cannot do this, because I cannot go into the device OS other than recovery mode.
I even tried some GUI stuff like Android commander / QtADB but every thing needs USB Enable from the OS Menu.
Finally I tried mounting disk from recovery mode.
Whenever I mount the disk, Windows 7 is fixing the file system errors and bad sectors for a while
and shows "no problems were found" and it is ready to use.
Here something weird happens.
I can copy the files in windows explorer and can see the files in the device thru explorer,
BUT when I unmount and browse from the recovery mode the files are not there. (may be the files are copied in cache)
//SO I CAN'T COPY ANY FILE TO THE DEVICE.. ( May be here I am doing something silly. )
My phone is now unusable!
Any advice/tips is highly appreciated!
Cheers
Kum

Okay here is the thing, I am a bit of an advanced user, and have been flashing ROM's for quite a while, so i am not a noob and I have already tried everything in the book to fix my problem.
Info:
1- Drivers installed on Windows 7 and have been working for the past 4 months.
2- USB Debugging ticked
3- Windows recognizes the Galaxy Tab 7" GSM (P1000 International)
Problem:
1-Running "adb shell" in adb results in: error: device not found
2-CWM Restore stops at android_secure.img not found and aborts.
How did it happen (Detailed):
1- Was on Overcome 2.0.1 "Hermes" and found out that there was an update on kies from someone.
2- Decided to restock
3- Flashed P1000JPJM5 (I already did that quite a few times and no problems ever occurred from that)
4- When i restocked i wanted to root, so i went into settings>Application>developement> and ticked USB Debugging
5- Plugged in USB and I opened up Super One Click Root v1.7 and hit Root, however, Nothing happened and it was "Waiting for device" forever.
6- tried Super One Click root v1.9 with the same result
7- Opened adb and typed "adb shell" and got error: device not found.
8- I downloaded Better Terminal app from the market and tried "adb shell" and i got "Adb not found" as a result
9- I wanted to root my device to use the Bootloader Batch and change my protected boot loaders
10- tried everything, Restore factory from 3e Recovery, Doing the same from Setting>Privecy, Flashing the same ROM Over and Over again with no luck
11- learned later that flashing ChainFire's Gingerbread P1000XXJMQ is safe on protected boot Loaders so i did that
12- the problem persisted and i just cant use adb
13- I had a CWM Backup done so i thought doing a restore might solve the problem, but that resulted in a failure in restore. it stops at android_secure.img not found and aborts restore.
If anyone kow's a solution or at least knows what might have gone wrong Please shed some light on how to go about this issue.
Thanks
While the device is plugged in, go to device manager and delete/uninstall the device. Should ask you if you want to delete the driver files also, check the box and go.
After that it will probably ask you to restart, restart the computer and reinstall the device with the google drivers.

well its like i said earlier it is NOT a driver issue.
I mean even Emulater apps from within the Tab are not recognizing ADB

Did you at least try what I suggested?
I can't get my galaxy tab to be seen by adb either. At least not since upgrading to Gingerbread.
I'm using the
"sprint_p100_Samung_GALAXY_Tab_USB_Drivers.msi" file from the Samsung web site.
hello and pardon by the English because I am translating.
I have a HTC S and I wanted one 2 days ago I put a ROM nandroip and everything but I realized and I wipe the entire phone erasing all the ROM and everything I had.
the problem is I can not install a ROM on my phone now because every time I try from windows CMD when you start the installation makes me daemon not running, and sends me error: device not found.
I've tried with another tutorial that you have with the application all in one kit but also not let me access this sd every time I try to enter telling me insert disk into drive E: \.
I can do?
I think it may be by the drivers of PC but not sure I instadao have 5 or 6 drivers and nothing.
an administrator's name is called android MYHTC ADB and other android or something.
I am desperate thank you very much took 2 days doing everything.
thank you very much.
my windows is XP.
Ok, Sorry but im having difficult understanding everything you say, But i think i got the basics.
I would suggest you re download the drivers, Remove HTC Sync if you have it. Move all of your ADB files in to 1 folder so its easier to navigate to when using ADB.
Can you boot the phone into recovery ? I assume you have CWM as you say you installed a nandroid ? If so, Use ADB whilst in recovery, USB Debugging is always enabled when in recovery so you should have no issues finding your device from there.
If all goes well and you find the device, You can then PUSH and INSTALL files / roms from there
Keep us posted
Hi, a while back I rooted my T-mo mytouch Q. It was fine for a while and I
enjoyed the benefits of having a rooted phone, but some problems I can't seem
to find the answer to occured. First off, I can't install my phone driver onto any
computer anymore. It says failed to install driver. At first I thought this was my
old computer's fault (it had vista) but now I got a brand new computer with
windows 7 and it is still a problem. Second of all, I uninstalled some system apps
I didn't seem to find a use for (browser because I used dolphin, some widgets)
and Titanium backup will not restore these apps (spins endlessly). I have tried
manually pushing them to the system folder but it wont allow me to. Any help
with either of these problems will be much appreciated.
I've been wanting to make my LG Optimus Chic E720 run a little smoother; today I tackled it. After rooting with z4root, I installed Root Explorer, and proceeded to move many system apps to my SD card, and deleted a few as well.. After moving ome.something app (im sorry I can't even see the name now), I started receiving force close messages for my messaging and phone apps. I managed to reboot, move everything back, and reboot again. Still doing it, so I did a factory reset.. Still doing it, so I did a hard reset.. and its still doing it.
Now, I no longer even have a file manager to install apks. Browser, messaging, phone, camera and android market don't work.. adb shell comes back with Device not found even though the phone is detected and pcsync app runs. I've been at this for like 5-6 hours reading and trying to fix it. I can't put a new rom on, because I can't install terminal emulator or use adb shell. I'm so frustrated, I feel sick to my stomach.. and I can't afford a new phone. Please help me?
This is what I was going to try installing to fix the problem, when I found out adb shell does not detect my phone. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1046135#13185924
I tried Android Injector to install Root Explorer again, no good. Also tried PdaNetA4013 to install usb drivers and it can't detect the phone either. I can still enable removable storage, and put files on, but then I can't access them on the phone.
Well, looks to be solved. After getting the phone to be properly detected (seemed to randomly work on the 100th time enabling/disabling mass storage), I followed the instructions in the link below. I used a different version of firmware than offered on the page. v10c_00.kdz downloaded from an xda developers application, original lg firmware its called. Can't believe its working again, I didn't get any responses but thanks to people like the ones who contribute here, my phone is saved.
I can't post a link but its lg-phones dot org --- how to flash lg optimus chic
Edit: Seems my phone has gone back to being network locked. Bummer.
I was messing with my galaxy core prime (android 4.4.4) using a app to remove system apps that you can't with the stock app manager.. (no reason for crap like smartcard manager, bluetooth, wifi sharing..etc to be running when i haven't authorized such things, seems like security risk imo)
Was also editing the autorun list and messing with Norton applock and phone encryption settings to try to further secure it.
Welp, I f'ed things up because phone crashed and now can't do anything.. can't access home screen, settings, call/txt, nothing. So I booted into the stock bootloader and tried formatting the entire thing including cache..
Didn't fix the problem, can't finish the setup wizard without it crashing, get message saying setup, hangouts, and keyguard stopped working and then my phone bricks and can't do absolutely anything. No backup either.
I have been googling and googling for solutions but everything I read says to either:
-Reformat from bootloader (tried a 100 times)
-Wipe with TWRP or CWM (don't have either and can't access play store)
-Use Kies (won't detect my device since I can't enable MTP)
-ADB sideload twrp or cyanogen (cant, usb debugging probably not enabled since I formatted and no way to enable it since setup of android fails)
Odin can't detect anything either.. probably due to same reason. (Cant enable MTP or usb debugging)
So am I totally screwed? What are my options here?
I noticed the stock bootloader has a option to install from external storage.. can I put my sd card in a phone that does work and download twrp, cyanogenmod, (or ANYTHING else to fix this) to that, then put it back in my bricked phone and re flash it that way? That way I wouldn't need mtp or usb debugging... or won't that work?
Wasted so much time trying to fix this guys, googling and even formatted my pc removing Linux and reinstalling Windows hoping suddenly my pc would detect it.. atleast on linux when I used "adb devices" command it detected my device (trying to sideload anything didn't appear to work though, phone says error about verifying it and tries again and says completed and reboots but no sign of the rom I just supposedly sideloaded anywhere)
removing Linux and installing Window seems to have been a mistake because on windows using "adb devices" returns a blank list.. Tried different cords, ports, kies 2 and 3, reinstalling drivers, disabling firewall..etc but like I said even if I do get adb to detect it, what can I do from there without mtp or debugging?
Sorry for wall of txt, just want to be descriptive as possible so I don't get all replies telling me to try stuff that I've tried 100 times or just flat out won't work for my particular problem because of the above reasons..
will be sincerely grateful to anyone that took the time to read this and try to help me.
