How do I access input select? - HTC One S

I've downloaded swype but restored it through tb. But I can't switch to it. How do I access the switch input?
Sent from my HTC One S using xda premium

If you want swype then go to settings>keyboard>choose HTC input then check the trace type. Congratulations now you have swype
Sent from my HTC One S using xda premium

I prefer Swype over trace myself it should be setting/keyboards it has an on/off button after you choose on tap on Swype and set it as default of you don't see these options reinstall

Cool, but to be honest I have used swype on a Samsung galaxy tab 10.1 and I use trace on my HTC one s and I don't see or notice any differences.
Sent from my HTC One S using xda premium

It's cool I used them both also I just prefer Swype I agree there not much if any difference I am using themed version in my Gnex on the One S using Swype beta
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium

on gingerbread I could hold down on any text field and an input method would appear. Trace I very inaccurate. It's not as intuitive as Swype. And it looks ugly. I had you reinstall it. Thanks people.

Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
I have a desire hd and im trying various methods to put it on here but so far there are 2incompatibilities.
1 is the screen size. The screens are different so adapting it is.slightly tricky.
2 is the fact that the samsung tab doesnt like the word prediction library and.predictor.
If i suceed ill let you know

You guys can simply install Smart Keyboard pro. It just acts like the Sense KB and can even be themed as it out of the box.

Awesome keyboard for the tab

Hey guys, I'm not affiliated with these guys in any way but you really should check out perfect keyboard free.. the height is adjustable and it has a split layout for landscape mode with the numbers in the middle.. I just ran across it today and love it! Its a perfect keyboard for the tab.

Same here, Thumb Keyboard is the best on the Tab. It has good options:
- Split keyboard with numbers in the middle,
- small keyboard in the corner for 1 hand use..
and much more good ones.
SwiftKey X tablet ftw.

+1. Use it for a month and you'll be writing most of your sentences with just the space bar

I use a logitek bluetooth keyboard with mouse pad on it, it works good, but usually i'm not thinking it about using it, as it's easier to use the keypad on the tab itself.
Been using thumbkeyboard for a while now and it is very nice. Fully customizable according to your need and nice layout especially for tab user by holding it with both hand and typing with the thumb.
I have been using smart keyboard pro and its the only keyboard so far without the ddoouubbllee lleetteerriinngg bugz

I use smart keyboard pro as well, but would really like a landscape thumbmode. Does anyone know if they plan on releasing an updated tab version.

I tried many keyboards but I returned to the original Samsung one.
I tried it too and its awesome but there isn't that big of a difference to the gingerbread keyboard which works like a charm
Basically every keyboard is better than the one samsung provides

[Q] Keyboard for the G2X

Hey XDA community!
So I am new to the site as well as android (transferred from BB) and I recently rooted my G2X with the help of all the articles, instructions and postings on the site. So for that thank you all.
My first question for the community is: Which app makes for a better keyboard than Swype?
Now that am rooted and running a cleaner OS than stock I am considering doing away with swype in place of something better, faster and preferably easier. But since am new to the Android platform I don't quite know where to start and which keyboards apps are truly better.
No keyboard is faster than swype. Swiftkey is pretty interesting, 8pen is a fun novelty, and there are a few out there that add keys most don't have, but swype it's the fastest by far.
Download the beta though, it's so much better than stock.

I love Swiftkey. Not as fast as Swype but more accurate for the way I type. Personal preference

Its personal preference actually. I tried swype but didn't like the dragging finger all the time. Tapping is more what I like. But if you can get use to swype. Its the fastest. Otherwise go with smartkeyboard
Sent from my LG-P999
Okay, all good suggestions. Ive download both smart and swype beta and will give them each a trial run and see.
Thanks for the help!
I told ya!

If you want a taping keyboard, Swiftkey X is the way to go. It's got AI scripting that predicts what word you're about to type before you even start typing it. It learns as you go too, so it gets better over time.
I love it. I use Keyboard Manager, which lets me set different keyboards based on rotation, and have swype on portrait and Swiftkey on landscape.

I use SwiftKey 3 right now. It's pretty fast, but i'm also a fan of the stock keyboard for 2.3.3 to be honest. I love the Swype feature.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
I don't see how the stock keyboard is even remotely comparable to Swiftkey. They're equally responsive, but Swiftkey gets way better at predicting what you're going to type next than the stock keyboard. I've tried getting used to the stock keyboard after using Swiftkey, since the stock keyboard uses much less memory, but it's not nearly as useful.

When I comes to prediticions, I have to agree, but like I said the only feature that I like of the stock keyboard is the Swype. I've tried go keyboard and slideit but they're swyping was a quite the pain. But as of this moment, I am typing with SwiftKey 3.
