[Project] Ready2root, How to root any Android phone - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to present you my latest project:
Ready2root

Basically it's a webpage where I have reunited all the root methods for nearly all the actual android devices. I am currently the chief editor of El androide Libre, an spanish android blog, and I've been dealing with a lot of people who don't know how to root their devices. After repeating the same advices and giving the same links over and over again, I decided to create this little project with my developer friend, Roger Gros.
Since it's launch, we've added a lot of features:
Search Box
Report problems
Send devices requests
Vote system
Tutorials
Translations to French and Dutch in progress
Mobile version on the way
Of course we have a long way to go. We have to add a lot more of devices, add more translations and a lot more of things. I have posted this here with two main pourposes:
To let it be a little more popular
To receive a lot of feedback
So here we are people. Give me any kind of feedback, any help is welcomed.
I hope you like it

I think it'd be better if you linked to some up-to-date tutorials for the HTC phones.
I don't know if you're aware that HTC Dev released tools to unlock your bootloader, which means you can install CMR on your phone, which means you can install ROMs and root and whatnot, without having to deal with goldcards.
Just a suggestion!

XDA Appreciation Thread

Figured I'd start this thread to give thanks to all the people who bring us new toys and software to play with. The ROM chefs, moderators, and problem solvers.
Also a big thanks to Kyphur for releasing his WMXL as promised. I was about to take my Hermes back until this sucker found its way on here yesterday, so Kyphur, you are.. THE MAN
Word up...
yup yup, kudos to the gurus.
Big up to all devs
normally i'm just fine lurking here (tinkering a little here and there with my tytn) - but i wanted to at least poke my head in to say thank you very much for the new rom. it works great and i have no complaints that i can't deal with on my own....
I'm a reg on howardforums and I must say that this board has definatley help me with my new voyage into the pocket pc world. I have G4 cingular 8125
Here Here! XDA Live is the best thing on the TyTN since 1.35!!! Long Live the Cook!
Cheers to the people doing all the experimental work. It takes a lot of cojones to do something that might turn an expensive piece of equipment into a brick.
I hope everyone keeps up the good work!
Maz

This thread needs more love. Thanks for everything XDA gurus!
Yep, big up for all the cookers
My Love to XDAdev and everyone here. The Pman for creating this forum first of all. To the Unlock creators and the ROM cookers. It seems that we forget the UNLOCK GURUs when we talk about giving kudos for cooked ROMs. Without them, we would not be able to cook ROMS.
Oh BTW HTC for creating such loveable devices
*my first post*
Huge thanks to all involved in development and support of this amazing piece of software. Im very new to PDAs and VERY new to upgrading, flashing etc. You guys must look at these devices with a completely different viewpoint than me - the results of which speak for themselves!
Some of the tinkering on the PDA is kinda scary... in a good way.
But WM6 makes this pda like a whole new machine
Now... if only i could convince IT admin to update work PC's to Activesync4.5!!! lol.

I think everyone should try to show a public appreciation of the efforts that go on here and the other Meister sites, SPV-Developers, Buzzdev and many others.
Our operators and all powerful Overlord need to see that we are just a bunch of over-enthusiastic hobbyists who love to make the most of the hardware they've spent good money on. Pushing stuff off this site just pushes it into fringe territory, or God forbid, Howard Forums
V
Appreciated... I've done things to my phone that I thought I couldn't. You guys have given me the power to maximize my phone's capabilities... For that I Thank You!!!
First post here as well.
I'll soon get a TyTN and the excellent member content here has helped from purchase to identifying upgrade options and ideal software.
Cheers XDA.
The least we can do is to express our support and appreciation to this great forum; without which we would be hostages to Micros**t bugy S**tware.
I am sure if Micros**t provided the source code to the Gurus of this forum it would have been fixed long time back..
Go forth xda-developers...
*tips hat* thank you kindly
We have a great smart and creative group of people here. Appreciate all of the work you have done thus far.
million thanks to XDA.
Thanks to Xda and all the members who work every day to give us the perfect ppc ... lets keep on cooking!!!!!!!!!!

MoDaCo - Automatic Application Update Check (App2Date?)

Paul over at MoDaCo is starting to get some interest in a new application he's developing - basically it involves developers providing some XML with their installer that ties in with some similar XML on the applications' download page on their web server.
When a new version is released, the XML on the download page is updated, "AppToDate" will check the download server and you'll be able to see that a new version is available.......
AstraWare, Developer One and SK-Tools have already expressed an interest in making their software work with "AppToDate".......what are you waiting for!?!?!
I'll stop babbling, this is what Paul posted over at MoDaCo "AppToDate"
I have a dream! OK, so it's not quite as ground breaking as some other dreams of our time, but it's a dream none the less. It goes something like this...
I have a whole bunch of software on my device. Probably 15 apps at least. I also write software, which is downloaded by a fair few people, both commercial and free. I like to ensure that my software on my device is up to date with the latest versions, and it's a right pain in the ****. Not only that, I'd like my end users to have the latest versions installed to get the best possible experience... and to facilitate that I have to write a custom update checker into each of my applications. Fine for big apps, not great for quickly rustled up apps or tweaks.
But there could be another way.

What if you could have an application that lived on the device, that wasn't tied to any one application or vendor, that could check for updates for everything installed on your device? IMHO, that would be awesome. A dream. For such an approach to work, you'd need a few things...
Someone to write the update application, and to develop it. A community project perhaps?
The update application MUST be FREE for end users and developers
The update application MUST be easy for developers to plug in to
The application needs to be used by end users!
Freeware developers need to use the application!
Commercial developers need to use the application!
Now here comes the audience participation part - if you are a user, would you like to see such an application? If you are a developer - either freeware or commercial - would you like - and would you use - such an application? Make your voice heard here, and if there's an appetite for this, let's make it happen! I'll be updating this topic to list developers who would like to be involved.
Oh, I forgot to mention... I've basically written the update application! It's simple, has plenty of scope for future development, can update itself (of course) and in order to be used by a 3rd party, just needs an XML file dropped into the updater directory from your install CAB, and a current version XML on your server!
Beautiful! The response to this topic will determine how much time I spend on getting it production ready

Lend your support to this - with all the updates for various applications flying around, it's an almost impossible task to know if you're running the latest and greatest version - hopefully it will grow into a REALLY useful tool.
Thanks for listening
Mark.
Cheers for the post Mark!
I'd love to see support for all the great apps on XDA-Devs - who's interested?

[App][Beta - Sign Up] Droid Draw

Hello All!
Xatik Group is pleased to announce that we have reached a point in development that we can call Beta!
Our app, Droid Draw, is a remake of the classic 'Turtle Graphics'. Droid Draw uses a few of the commands from the LOGO programming language to direct an android guy around your screen!
You'll be amazed at how much time this can waste if you love creating weird and different shapes.
Our goal is to release the Droid Draw Beta on August 3rd, 2012. This date is not set in stone, but it is a goal for us. Also, the beta will last approximately 2 weeks. After that we will focus on fixing all bugs and finally release version 1 of Droid Draw!
If you would like to help us test our App, please fill out the form here: http://www.xatik.com/2012/07/23/droid-draw-beta/
And we will send out the App via email.
(We apologize if our website seems unresponsive. We are having issues with our web host)
All comments are greatly appreciated! Please help us improve this app for everyone.
Here are some preview pictures of our App.

If you attempted to apply for beta but were unable because of slow website speeds, please try again!
http://www.xatik.com/2012/07/23/droid-draw-beta/
We're hoping to get as many Beta testers as possible.
Also, if you want to follow along with our progress, you can visit our repository on Bitbucket: https://bitbucket.org/XatikGroup/droiddraw
Note: This means our App is going to be completely FREE and Open Source!
Feel free to submit issues when the Beta starts!

Glad to see people remember this app!
Hopefully this will bring back good memories
And if it doesn't you'll at least be able to guide us in the direction to make it better!
Hey everyone!
We're still looking for more Beta testers!
If you don't want to fill out the form on our website that's fine, just post in here so we can gauge interest.
All we really need is which phone you use and what version of Android you're using!
That way we can tell which phones work and which ones don't.
Thanks for all of the support!
When the app is ready I will be sure to add a link here as well as send out emails to those that signed up.
Wow we just made some serious progress!
A quick peek at one new feature we added, RND.
The random command is now working and is how this image was generated. It uses random loop lengths and random colors.
We're still looking for people to Beta test so feel free to sign up here (don't worry, everyone that signs up can participate!) -> http://www.xatik.com/2012/07/23/droid-draw-beta/
Wow another day and another feature added to Droid Draw!
I finally got animations working
This just means I'm one step closer to getting Beta ready for everyone!
Time to polish everything else.
Oh and just an fyi, we're still accepting beta participants so don't be afraid to sign up! -> goo.gl/cbuUL

Archive Dead/Unsupported/Discontinued ROM

I think it's time for mods/admin to look out old rom like i said in above title, archive it, so that everything sorted again.
Forumers can start list out any known roms that have been discontinued/dead/unsupported.
PM any dev, ask for their developing status is a good start.

What are you talking about?
Each ROM thread in Development has a last released/updated date in the title and the threads are ordered by activity so its very easy to see which are current.
The INDEX thread orders all ROMs by date so its clear?
If you think this forum is messy don't consider getting a device like HOX or GSS3
So true...
yeah, I was so unclear. I dont realize that from this page to this page are all updated and undead.
So sorry.

I think the general point is that if a ROM is 'dead' then it won't get any more posts and will naturally drop backwards. Why go to the effort of archiving them, which then leads to more effort required if somebody does want to use those ROMs?
You just went from page 2 back. That includes many, very current, articles;-
TouchRecovery
TWP
Reaper
GPS Tweaks
Eng HBOOT
Do I really need to go on?
one page back, nothing much outdated. but others? nevermind. Im just trying to sort out outdated, unsupported, maybe non stable/testing rom/etc.
for example, in this thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1639065 . you replied to that thread also.
new comers didn't see this as something I call, in align or sorted out. That's why that guy open up that thread.
and well, forget about this, maybe the seniors influence are higher and what others think for someone like me, meh, im just trying to be like some kind of wanna be mods or wanna be the good guy greg. bleh.
I do appreciate what your saying, but the system that is in place exists across all forums on xda and it exists because it works.
Old threads that are possibly dead still contain valid posts, fixes and even active links which will be picked up if people were ever to use the search function so should always be left.
Sywepd form my DsereiS
I'm not sure that sorting out these ROMs is your job. Or mine. Or, really, anybody else's.
What would be useful would be if genuinely dead ROMs had their title modified to reflect the fact and maybe the links from the OP removed, but that is the sort of thing that should, realistically, be down the the thread creator, not to another person - who is to judge when a ROM is dead?
I work in the EPoS (Electronic Point of Sale) business, and we have an application for wireless order-taking on Android. Unfortunately at the moment (and for the foreseeable future) it is only officially supported on v2.x (no support for v3 or v4). That's just a single example, but here are also many people out there who don't want to run a buggy version of ICS with the wrong kernel - for them the older GB stuff is essential (and they won't all choose to run Reaper or Endy either).
If that sort if stuff was to be archived, we would probably just get even more of the pointless threads than we already do.
well then, forget about this thread.
my bad.

Thanks for the feedback.
Initially the idea was to make this application for tablet devices, because it is a great challenge for the eyes of the user to read from the screen of mobile phone. However, I'm considering to add support for mobile phones also.
Thanks again :good:

Update time!
I've managed to add support for more devices, now it supports 3390 devices instead of 630 as it was before.
The app should scale perfectly fine to any screen size now.:victory:
A little update, recoded few lines, now it should be working more efficiently, consuming less resources.
New update
