Is anyone else having issues with dock key input and Chrome? - Asus Transformer TF700

I often find that I can't do simple text box typing from Google web search as there is no response from keyboard dock input.
I get this only in Chrome.

No problem with Chrome, here.

I heard a lot about this problem. People believe this is a Chrome's bug.
I use Firefox and Opera, no problems here.

It's a bug chrome or dock don't know. Swedish characters also does not work this is only in chrome.

it's working fine here as well

Strange, no problem here. Using a stock Infinity with just plain old Chrome. Works like a charm. If it means anything, I'm using the TF201 dock, English, and my software keyboard is Thumb keyboard.

Keyboard mouse cursor won't click on folders or bookmarks - have to use touchpad buttons - otherwise OK.

It is definitely strange, it is working once again, but at times it will bug out and the only I'll notice is when I change my Google search results and discover that I cannot input anything into the search box. The only way around it is if I enter my search criteria in the Chrome address bar.
I'm too using the TF201 tablet that is a carry over for when I had Transformer Prime.

I'm having the problem too. With chrome and a number of other apps as well.

As far as I know, the only way is to change the browser configuration so that when you click on a link it always opens in a separate tab and also to switch your view to that tab. The back key always does what you just found.
The browsers that are available now are written for mobile phones rather than tablets and so this problem exists with all the browsers I have tried so far on the TF.
Not a fix, but dolphin HD has back and forward gestures you can use

Try Dolphin for Pad.
Has a very good Back/Forward buttons.
Dolphin for Pad is my default browser of choice.
Yeah I notice the same problem with mine. Dolphin pad is nice, but I can't stand the interface and the look of it. It looks so childish and doesn't match the honeycomb look and feel. I really hope opera will make a tablet version. It's the best browser I have tried on android.

Change Keyboard automaticly when Pad is in Dock

Hello,
I use my transformer with and often without dock. If the tablet is undocked, I use the SwiftKey Tablet.
As many of you know, the dock keyboard is only working, if the asus keyboard is selected.
Is it possible (is there an app for that?) that the selected keyboard under android change, when tablet and dock are connected?
Best regards,
timscha

You could make a simple script or app which detects the dock being plugged in and automatically changes the keyboard, as I'm pretty green I don't know Exactly how to do this, but google and android sdk are your friends. Maybe someone knows? Sorry I couldn't help more
Hi timsha, i made a little app for that : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1607148
(Btw : it is not for changing the virtual keyboard, but for changing the layout of the dock, you need to be root, but you can use any virtual keyboard, like swiftkey, after that).

Swiftkey

Is anyone out there using Swiftkey tablet. I use it because of the Dvorak keyboard layout, mainly because the Note doesnt seeem to support keyboard layouts other than Qwerty.
When I type in Swiftkey it seems to be registering multiple keystrokes. This doesnt happen in the stock samsung keyboard or SlideIt
No problems here. Try uninstalling and then re installing

Did you try Polaris Office and S Note.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but to no avail. Still does it in these two apps.
I'm using SwiftKey without any issues. I've used both Polaris and S Note. Did you try a restart? Could be some sort of magnetic issue that might be resolved that way. Big bummer. Sorry.
I have swiftkey on all my devices except the Note10.1.
Does Swiftkey support big, small hovering and split keyboard like original keyboard ?

It supports big and split, but no hovering.
does using a keyboard other than the stock one still allow you to use the S-pen instead of the keyboard whenever you want to? I know that the stock keyboard has the setting button that you press to select text recognition for using the pen within the browser.
Think it's a common issue but I can't get SwiftKey T to learn from my Gmail.
Anyone else having this problem?? Or have a suggestion.??

I'm using SwiftKey 3, but I've been experiencing a lot of freezing+force closing when using it with Chrome.
Hovering would be nice. It offers all else that I need.
Hi all,
I work for SwiftKey. Please be sure to post bug reports (one at a time) on our public forum at support.swiftkey.net. We also welcome suggestions there. Regarding Droidcarp's note that there appears to be some difficulty with personalization, our Dev Team has been made aware of this report and they are looking into it for you.
Again, our public forum is the best place for suggestions and bug reports. This allows us to streamline the development process so we can continue to make SwiftKey as excellent as possible for you.
Thanks very much,
-Reppate
As long as you dropped in, HWR would be good, too. Sammy offers a hover keyboard and HWR, also. Started using their split keyboard - very nice - and offers HWR.

Thanks for the tip budalica.
Any idea how to get the handwriting key to be included?
It is a shame the standard samsung keyboard doesnt support dvorak
Definitely needs handwriting support and the arrow keys like the phone keyboard.
For now it's fine to leave the stock keyboard set on handwriting and use the keyboard switcher in the notifications to switch but it would be useful for it to be integrated.
Also maybe a way to adjust the width, in split mode it seems too wide and I have big hands!
I switched to swift key also from swype today and noticed an echo like effect in snote, working fine in the xda app but broken in the snote app.

A few people are reporting this issue on the swiftkey forums.
I sent SwiftKey a refund request but a week later I have had no response

My stock Samsung keyboard can no longer provide haptic feedback after installing the SwiftKey tablet, does anyone have the same problem.? I think doesn't matter how you change the settings, and it just doesn't vibrate

Browser light touch jb

This may be covered but i have not found it. Sorry for duplicate if so.
Stock browser jelly bean
while checking on reported browser problems, I found a setting that makes my browsing experience much better. when browsing I often have to hit link a couple of times before response. same problem popping up keyboard. I've thought it was fat fingers, missing the link, and the fact I like to browse desktop. there is a setting that has changed all this for me.
there is a hidden settings menu item, you get there by typing "about:debug" no quotes in address bar, enter, open settings, and you should see debug . under debug toward the bottom of options is "enable light touch".
makes a big difference.

Thanx Woody!
This trick made the browser even better.
Yes, the browser is responding much faster and more sensitive. Good found.

Change input when keyboard docks?

Is there any way/app that can change the input method when docking and undocking the keyboard? I prefer to use swiftkey flow when undocked but the keyboard conflicts with it when docked. has anyone found anyway to get round this, without having to go into settings etc? thanks
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using XDA Premium HD app
I haven't heard of 'swiftkey flow', only SwiftKey itself (hated it for a 10.1, I want to turn off all suggestions and corrections when I have a keyboard big enough for normal typing.), so if I misunderstood, ignore me
While you're at a point where you can type, a small keyboard icon appears in the notification bar in the lower right corner. Tap it and select the correct keyboard.
I don't know if there's a way to do it automatically (isn't there a setting in swiftkey somewhere?)
Also, are you using the right swiftkey version? There's a tablet version and a normal one...
Flow is the newest version,i never liked it before, but flow is much more like swype. I haven't found any setting to do it, but an automated way would be awesome XD

If you're rooted you can use Tasker with the Secure Settings plug in. I use it to assign different keyboards for different apps, and also to switch to the stock keyboard when docked...
There's also Keyboard Manager in the Play Store (but I prefer Tasker):
