What's the size of this thing? Can you actually type on it?
that's so small. I don't see the practicality of this thing. thanks for sharing though
Looks great. Have you tried it with emulators? Any lag?
Sent from my LG-P990 using Tapatalk
Question are you on stock or custom firmware ? I bought the same keyboard a few weeks ago and it wouldn't run on my g2x but I was running stock.
Runs with all my Emulators and im on CM7 but the buttons are soft style so you can type very fast its a great must have tool and there is zero lag on anything you can even shut the screen on and off with one button

got mine for like 15$ from amazon a couple months ago, it works on stock and custom roms on my Vibrant, haven't tried my g2x though
If 15 dollars I would get that keyboard, but while searching youtube for some unboxings and reviews I found this gem.

Any thoughts on this keyboard?

so does this mean that we can use like an apple bluetooth keyboard with our devices? I have been trying a long time to figure this out.

The mini keyboard just arrived.
I can pair it but it says its not connected.
Anyone else encounter this?
I do not have much experience with Bluetooth devices.
My question would be why?? Seems like a novelty at best.
Might as well lug around a netbook/laptop if you're going to be lugging around a keyboard. That would get old in a hurry away from your office/home... and of course, 95% of people are using a PC when not mobile. Kinda defeats the purpose of a candy bar device.....to do away with an external keyboard
Well, for one, check out the link a few post up. Its a mini keyboard, about the same size of the phone its self.
Also, I am not totally sure on why it matters, I just want to get it working.
Personally, I wanted it for emulators, I tend to prefer Not a physical keyboard when playing games. I very much enjoy the extra space in the keys as well as the tack tile feedback it provides.
Just wondering if anyone has tried swiftkey x on the cdma hero? I was going to get it but I've been seeing some reports of high memory usage (30mb-70mb) depending on the device. I really liked the original swiftkey but if it really does have high memory requirements I'm going to skip it.
It's using 27MB of memory for me right now. If you do buy it, you have 10 minutes to "return" the purchase if you don't like it, or notice issues.
personally I haven't had any though

Thanks for the screenshot. I haven't purchased it yet and probably won't until I figure out what kind of phone I'm getting next (contract is up soon).
I wonder how the memory footprint as you turn off some of the newer features. Memory is kind of an issue for me since I run tasker and a few other memory resident applications.
The old SwiftKey is my keyboard and I used the beta one for a while. I'm a fan and sure the new version is great. My only problem ever has been that numbers auto correct to 3rd instead of 3 for example but can't speak to the latest version.

I've got it and it is really quite impressive. It performs unbelievably and I rarely have to type entire words as its predictions are so advanced. Give it a shot. You won't be disappointed. Mine only takes up 7 mb right now, but my experience with SwiftKey is that it gets larger the more you use it. It finally has themes aswell. Gives some options. Hope that helps.

So Swiftkey X was free on the amazon app store today. I went ahead and grabbed it. It's a little slower than the native keyboard on the CDMA Hero but still works pretty well. Can't beat free I guess.
It seems to run about the same as the old version which is definitely usable. If you use it for a while it will make the standard keyboard seem very tedious. I can at times create entire sentences just clicking predictions. I'm glad someone mentioned it was the free amazon app today. Thanks for that. That's how I got the last version too!

Odd, its faster that the stock keyboard for me. Not by much, but it is. Plus the correction is much better so I haven't had to retype one message or fix anything yet. Works great for me.
It's a tiny bit more laggy than the stock keyboard but not laggy overall. SwiftKey has been my favorite for over a year and the new version is the best its ever been in think. Grab it while it's free.
Sent from my HERO200 using XDA Premium App
I've been using it exclusively for about a year and I can say I won't use another keyboard. It does, however, take up a lot of ram on running services. It's worth it to me though. On average it takes about 16md or ram on my phone.
If I didn't use it, I can't imagine how long it would take me to write messages.

Just updated my Swiftkey to the "X" version that came out today I'm loving it so far. Does anyone else here have it? Thoughts?
Love it, best keyboard in the market.
I used it a lot during the beta, and I didn't hesitate to get it the second it went "official" it has got to be the smartest and best keyboard I have used on any android system. Including one with full qwerty. I absolutely won't live without it on my Inspire 4G.
I bought the original Swiftkey when it went on sale for .99 a while back, best .99 cents ever spent!
I agree with all of these statements.. I have been using swiftkey, then the beta, and bought it when it when live.. Best Keyboard, for my use, that I have tried.
The beta wasn't that great but I got it since it was half price and I hear nothing but good things about it and it's great I love this keyboard

how does it stack up to swype? I have really gotten used to it and can type very fast with it but I am always open to alternatives.
I love it personally. It's very fast and has me almost figured out to a T. It gets a little confused sometimes because I use acronyms sometimes and sometimes I spell a word, but other than that, it does everything I could hope for and more.

IMO it is better than swype. You can Swype words really fast but with Swiftkey it learns your language patterns and you can often write entire sentences just clicking on the predictions.
has anyone noticed a little high drainage with swiftkey X??
when i didnt have it installed i usually got 1-8mA
and now that i have install it i usually got 1-40mA (almost 10-22mA constantly and some picks to 35mA)
any help?
Found it was Free on Amazon App store today so no excuse not to try it out now
+ 1 to Swiftkey being awesome. I got it from amazon today and am quite pleased. It is way better than smart keyboard pro.

After using it for a day, I like it a lot. Looks like it will replace Sywpe for me and I never thought that would happen.
I love Swiftkey X. It tends to make me be a little more sarcastic than I would be normally, but I am still teaching it how I type. Definitely would recommend it to anyone.
I've been using Swiftkey X since it released. I used the beta version also. AMAZING keyboard only gripe i have is for some reason it resets alot almost everytime i reset phone or shut it off for whatever reason.. any help would be appreciated
I love it as well but sometimes when I am using it certain keys won't respond, normally its a or e or n. If I switch to landscape it works fine though... Never had this problem with other keyboards.

I've had this problem before, Thought it was just my screen protector for my OtterBox Def. but apparently not.
I have an otterbox and screen protector and i hadn't thought about that but it seems like a possibility I suppose.

I haven't found a keyboard better than the Gingerbread or ICS keyboard yet. Nothing else can keep up with how fast I type. I like Swiftkey X a lot due to it's fairly accurate predictions, but I can't type as fast on it without it's multitouch getting confused.
Also, themes and apps section next time!
I've tried most and use go keyboard also. I struggle hitting the period button when pushing space on most keyboards, therefore I have to be using one with a long spacebar or a spacebar that is shaded to the left right next to the back arrow.

I do the same damn thing and it pisses me off sometimes. Sometimes I look back at something I wrote and I have a period like 7 times instead of a space.
I tried modifying the apk to increase the size of the spacebar, minimizing the size of the return or smiley key, however it didn't seem to change anything. If someone else is more experienced with modifying something like that, I would LOVE a new ICS keyboard build with a longer spacebar more than anything.
Hmmm...food for thought ajerman will look into that

Swift Key X. I honestly don't see how any keyboard could be any better. So many options, some alright themes and it corrects so quickly and I love the vibration every key. I hated it on Sammy's stock keyboard but it feels like I'm doing work. I can text so quickly and it will pick out nearly every butchered word. I love it. They have a month trial..

I thought Go keyboard was pretty good at first until I tried its swiping capabilities which were awful. If you don't swipe the letters perfectly it doesn't seem to be able to determine what you were trying to write. I don't seem to have a problem with swiftkey lag. Maybe I just don't type fast enough
another +1 for Swift Key. Just a few minor quirks but with out a doubt the best as far as accuracy and speed.

I thought the stock “Swype” was so bad that I was going to send the phone back. Got Swype Beta and it made all the difference in the world.

I have to agree about Swype, I feel like the latest update has been a step back. My complaints are:
1) they removed the "delete whole words" shortcut found in the menu when you Swype to the #5
2) I dislike how my Swype button rarely highlights a word so I can change it. Sometimes it will just keep going to the beginning of every word until it gets to the beginning of the sentence/paragraph.
3) the responsiveness for punctuation seems to miscalculate and place an error more frequently than I've seen in prior versions.
It feels like a step back although not much is missing. I've been using it for roughly a year so I know how far Swype has come.

Best first post ever!
Wow.....just installed swype beta instead of this stock samsung crap that was on before. Probably 96% accurate now instead of ~50%. It's now bearable to put text down with just one thumb again Now I just want that microphone icon on the swype keyboard so I can talk if I wanted.
I have been using Swype since my OG Droid and I don't think I could ever use another keyboard again. One tip I have is to turn off the auto-correct, especially useful if you use any shorthand or slang in texts etc.
SlimSnoopOS - I totally agree on #2, I hate that it only highlights the previous word about 25% of the time now. I can't figure it out, its like its totally random now...
I was a huge fan of Swype. After changing android phones without Swype on it, I started looking. Amazon offered Flex T-9 as the free app of the day some time ago which I lucked up and downloaded for free. This is the BEST app out there right now.
Not sure if they have a free trial, but it's definitely worth the money!

Agreed, stock swype is awful. It seems that it's attempt at "learning" has actually made it worse. I feel like it was more accurate 3 weeks ago than it is now.

The voice detection is still there, it's just the flame icon now (at the bottom right next to the Search/Return button).
The icon change was because Swype was bought by Nuance, which also owns Dragon Naturally Speaking (the flame logo). They are branding the voice search, which is why the icon has changed. I hope this also leads to some under-the-hood improvements thanks to the merger.
You can consider using Swiftkey 3 as well
I find it to be a lot better at text prediction although it may not work for those who prefer swyping
Just saying thanks guys. Beta Swype is awesome and is a million times more accurate than stock solution.
