[MOD][CWM][SCRIPT]Reodex your ROM and be faster - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

This CWM script will reodex any custom ROM.
With BOOTCLASSPATH edit in dexo.sh it can work on any ROM and phone.
Reodexing gives some people perceivable speed up. And it frees data partition from system dalvik cache. So dalvik-cache rebuild is also accelerated.
I ran it with stock kernel (root injected). And had problems with running it on any custom kernel.
Also a good example of output from shell script into CWM console.

How 'bout you report the threads and leave the moderating to the moderators.
bravomail - Apart from the fact that your download link doesn't seem to work, I'm not comfortable with folks ripping off packages (even dumb little scripts) from other devs and posting them on XDA.
I will leave this link for anyone who wants it. Thread closed.

Credits go to the original themer and fascinate port located here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=949965. Currently it's missing an icon and I will try to find a replacement. There are quite a bit of other things that aren't themed and I'm hoping to get a chance to work them in as well, so stay tuned. EDIT: 2/20 I will be looking at a diff port for this soon, a complete one
Prerequisites:Need to be on 2.2 and a deodexed ROM installed (I.E. Pick and Pack) If you already have a EA11 theme on it, you'll be just fine too. Note: The font shown here is just one of the 300 flashable fonts, link located in the theme forum.

The link is still up, what issues are you having? Just click "download file" which is located on the lower right of screen, do the captcha then wait the 30 seconds for the "slow download" link to pop-up.
Running great for me. Prefer this one over the midnight, cleaner looking to me anyways

How edit a kernel?

I'm using MIUI rom for my Nexus S. I have tested Netarchy kernel, the most complete of his genre, but it give me stability issues.
I want take the default android kernel and add some non-invasive features like overclock, bln, etc. wich let's MIUI run stable.
My problem is that i don't know how i can edit a kernel. Unpack .img files, decompile and recompile them.
Anyone can help me with a small introduction?
Thanks a lot.

first of all, wrong section..even though it is about "development"...still a question
anyways, there is no way to "edit a kernel" they have to be built from source. changes need to be made before you compile it.
there are many threads here on xda with tutorials -search >compile kernel<
a simple way to start is seach >mkbootimg< normally this would be compiled from source as well but there are a few threads that people have posted tutorials of the ins and outs and have packages for download.
basically with that you can "split" a boot.img separating the ramdisk (specific to the rom) and the kernel...then merge "your" miui ramdisk with a working (or built for other rom) kernel
You can start here:

[VRTHEME]Galaxy tab 10.1 (Touchwiz) (Every current and future ROM now supported)

I merged my ex-theme (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1274029) to a vr-theme which is now compatible with all current and futur roms.
I add some little improvements:
No more ghost line on top of home button
new battery icon

Here is the link (to be flashed via cwm):http://www.multiupload.com/7PZ9SBT4ZK
Note:
-I suggest you to make a backup and wipe cache and dalvilk before applying
-sometimes the update script shows error (status 0). Flash again and it should work (if not try to fix permission in advanced menu).
thanks to andrew2511. I took his update script since I don't know how to make one
thanks mate!i have a question...why before the theme was 35 mb and now on vrt system it take 2.7 mb?and what are the difference between this and the first you created?

A vrtheme system doesn't work as a classic one:
in a vrtheme the zip contains only the files modified.
in a "classic" theme the zip contain the full apks modified.
I understand....thanks for the info mate,i'm gonna try it now!

When I made this theme, I was using ARHD 2.1, so yes it works.
Did you wipe cache and dalvilk before applying the zip?
Have you any error (status 0) while flashing?
this is longshot but is there any way to incorporate the screenshot button on the notification tray? i really dislike how Asus has done things.

[Q] Is this wise?

Hi everyone, I have a Samsung Galaxy S WIFI 5.0 and when trying to put an apk into the system/apps folder I accidently the apps folder out of the system folder and now it dosn't start. It runs through the boot animation but then displays a black screen playing the force close vibration pattern. But it boots into recovery and download mode fine so I may as well try a factory reset. So I did and still the same. So now all I can do is flash a ROM. And the one that I want: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1689310
Cannot be flashed by Odin but only CMW. So now I have to flash a new kernel to get CMW, This one:
http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-player-5-0-s-wi-fi-rj-custom-kernel-overclock-84994/
But is it wise to do this in the state my device is in? And also I don't have usb debugging enabled.
Can You help?
I dont have hardly any experience but from a general from a general idea/thought, why dont you flash the latest official rootable firmware from Samsung, thus succesfully rooting it, install CWM recovery, from there install the rom you were talking about
Sent from my R800i using xda premium
I know that is the sensible idea but i'm not a one for flashing roms or kernels as I get worried about bricking and I would prefer to do it all at once.

Buut yeah, factory resetting only wipes the /data & the /cache partition, if you don't have stuff in the /system partition it won't start.
Just go to your device's forum, follow the procedure and your phone will be running like butter again ^^
Its almost impossible to hardbrick a Samsung phone ;-)

I feel really silly asking this question cause i'm new to all this you see but what procedure?
Dosn't matter now. Fixed it by installing a different ROM

Verizon Galaxy Tab 7 Encryption Unsuccessful - Desperate!

I was using the AOSP ICS build posted by jt1134 (at rootzwiki dot com/topic/11697-rom-cdma-aosp-ics-cm9-build101-0418/) for the Galaxy Tab CDMA. The first couple of nightlies worked OK on the tablet, but the camera never worked right. Someone else insisted that the camera works correctly on new builds, so they suggested I use CWM to wipe system, and I took it to mean wipe everything so as to start from scratch, and I wiped /data too. Apparently this triggered the emmc erase bug or something, so now my internal SD is useless.
Nobody over in that thread appears to be willing to make a build that works around the issue. I've already tried partitioning my SD card and editing vold.fstab and updater.rc inside the ROM, but these are apparently useless unless init.rc in the boot image (zimage I guess) is changed. A person attempted that but seems to have gotten the filesystem type wrong in the build (ext2 instead of ext4), and is unwilling to make another attempt. I don't know anything about compiling a custom ROM myself. I've looked into decompressing/recompressing the zimage, but it's too much for me.
What I'm asking here is, can anyone help get a build of ICS to me that I can flash, that will ignore the internal SD and use the external? This site is awash with reports and fixes for Encryption Unsuccessful for other phones and tablets, so I'm hoping somene here can understand my frustration. I haven't been able to use the tablet for over a month now, I think, and I'm not getting anywhere on my own. TIA
Why not ask this great forums section for your device...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1081
And which thread are you referring to...the thread at the other site....? I bet if you present your question or request here at the XDA for your device you will get an answer. Thank you.
