soonr scribble - Galaxy Note 10.1 Themes and Apps

OK so I have messed with this for like 2 hours!! How do I use it?? I downloaded some PDF files to my note but I have no idea how to. Annotate to them. Only option I have to open it is still Polaris. How can I add to soonr to annotate it??

Its insanely confusing but during a long meeting yesterday I finally figured it out!
Install dropbox (as an example since I keep most of my documents on dropbox)
On the left side click the vertical elipse (next to the big + button) and select the upload option. It lets you chose from some of the applications (I always pick dropbox but you can get it from other places also). Once upload is complete you just select the file on the left pane and press the button that looks like fullscreen. That will let you edits things with the pen on the document.

Apparently i am stupid. If you go to Soonr.com you can sign up for a workplace and upload files from your computer directly.

Perfect, thank you! Dont know why all of the negitive comments on this app? If you need to batch rename, this is the app.
Re.* does not seem very intuitive to me. Took a quick look and don't see how it works as you don't seem to be able to select files to rename or I'm missing something.
Total Commander is a nice free app, but because of it's power, and it can be a little daunting.

I don't believe you can selectivly choose files. If you can, I cant find the option. I deal with many files in one folder, rename and move to a customer folder, therfore it works for me fine.

new google maps

How does an itinerary look on your note with the new gmap?
For me half of the screen on the left is covered by the list of directions, leaving only the half right visible.
Is it normal? Totally useless...

I can't believe there's no one using gmaps here or at least willing to drop a couple of lines to confirm.
Thanks anyway.

If you could just close the itinerary it would be fine. But as it is it sucks.

well it seems it's a general complain...
- the directions take half of the space
- no way to use intermediate stops
- no more my maps
- if someone creates an itinerary with intermediate steps in OLD version of web gmap and you try to open it on the tablet, the intermediary steps are ignored
- if someone creates an itinerary with intermediate steps in NEW version of web gmap and you try to open it on the tablet, it open the browser and not the map

Stacks Flashcards

Hey all,
I am participating in the Student App Challenge, so I wrote a cards-ui based flashcards app. I'd like to give away pro keys (it removes ads) for my app. Enjoy!

Thread reopened! There was some confusion about me actually being the developer of this app, so I'll leave it up for another day.
Thank you for the free pro unlocker!! I'll most likely use this for EMT stuff.

I like it so far, thank you. Is there an option to not show the answer/details section of the card when you open it? Currently when you open a card it has the answer showing by default. When you touch the card it disappears. Can this be reversed, so after opening a card it only shows the answers after you touch it instead?

Yup, I'll add an option to reverse it in the next update! The reason I did that was just because it's a preview. Testing sessions are actually what's in a QA format.

[Completed] Restricting internet access to specific apps when opened.

Greetings, XDA Assist!
I want to know if there is a way to restrict internet access to an Android app *ONLY* when it is opened.
For e.g, if I want to hide my last seen on WhatsApp, I switch off my WiFi/Data, and open WhatsApp -> Reply to the messages -> Close Whatsapp -> Turn Data on.
Is there a way to restrict internet access to only certain apps when they're opened, and regain access when they're closed?
It would be of great help if you direct me toward a solution, maybe a Tasker profile?
P.S - Classic XDA Lurker. Lurking for two years. Joined recently. You guys are brilliant. Keep up the good work!
Thanks in advance!
Hi there!
Depending on root or not, there's different option available
In your situation, I'd personally use Greenify
Or some custom ROMs have App Ops built in. You can select permissions on a per app basis. I don't think its quite what you're after in this case.
See if Greenify suits your needs. Read about it in the opening post in the thread I linked. ?
Good luck!!
---------- Post added at 12:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:09 PM ----------
And no, I don't think your example is going to hide last seen. As soon as you read or post anything, I'm sure it'll make you last seen. No matter how you try to hide it. As soon as you do download or upload. .. It knows you were on. Nothing will change that.
---------- Post added at 12:15 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:13 PM ----------
Yes, I misunderstood your goal. You want the opposite of what I was thinking.
If the app is open and no data or WiFi...the app will not function while you use it.
If you don't want people seeing your presence on social apps....you'd have to not use them. Lol
Take care.

Thanks for the reply!
I'm aware of Greenify and my ROM does have App Ops.
I wanted to know how to automate it ONLY when you open the app.
Open Whatsapp -> App stops accessing internet (OR) WiFi/Data gets switched off. [Preferably former]
Close app -> Regains internet access.
Something similar.
I'm sorry, I searched Google and XDA....found nothing like what your after. Lots on keeping it off data when closed....but not open. Again....you can toggle airplane mode on, then open it and test your theory...but I doubt it will have your desired results.
Here's a tasker guide, you can check it out, or ask in the thread perhaps.

[App] Motion Photo Sharer

Hi all,
I saw the Motion Photo Extractor tool and decided to put together a super simple, quick Android app that can extract and share the video portion of a motion photo captured on your S7 or S7 Edge.
It's up on Play now so check it out if you tend to capture most of your photos as motion photos:
Motion Photo Sharer
Cheers,
Adam
I cannot see if it is working or not because wherever i try to share it nothing happens.. Why not just add it to the photos and vids in the Gallery and let us share it from there? Then at least we can check it beforehand.
---------- Post added at 03:10 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:54 PM ----------
OK I finally got it to Facebook but the quality there is crap as it isn't HD. It looks better on the computer and Flicker when extracted with the tool. Please make this to save to an album on the phone.
---------- Post added at 04:01 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:10 PM ----------
I had to upload to Google Drive and then download from there and upload to Facebook to get any decent quality... phew ... a lot of unecessary work if it could only save to the phone.

To upload to Facebook you can just share directly there (no need to upload to Google Drive). It will all be the same quality either way -- basically whatever is stored in the image (my app has no influence on the quality, it just extracts what is stored inside the image as is).
As for saving to a folder, I can add that quite easily (as well as other features), however I wanted to see if there was any demand for this kind of utility in the first place before spending more time on it. In the meantime, you can do this fairly easily with the current version by sharing to a file manager (I use Solid Explorer) which will just write it to disk wherever you want.
I tried saving to a folder with ES File Explorer but it didn't work. I know that the videos and photos get quality reduced when sending them to Facebook directly from the phone. The file i downloaded from Drive and uploaded to Facebook was better and would allow me to select the HD setting whilst playing the video on Facebook. That I know is not your fault but the way FB works.
It is certainly a very useful apk and I'm sure it will be popular with S7 users once it is polished up a bit.

OK fine now using Solid Explorer. I don't know why Es didn't work.. I updated my review too.

Ahh, so you were uploading to FB via desktop from Drive? As a side note, the FB app recently added a "Upload HD Photos" option in the Android app, not sure if that will also help for videos but it does seem to help for photos.

@adam--k Thank you for the mention. I have downloaded your app and tried it out and it works fine. I have rated it 5 stars and also commented that it works fine.
if your able to it would be a nice feature if you could have it save the jpeg and video locally to the phone. I did try the es file explorer cause i already have it installed. I will try with something else later.
Thank you! good app!
you can also use the desktop app - Synicos .

Thanks @goofwear. I will update it in the next day or so to let you save the video file directly (as well as save multiple files in one go). That will avoid having to use a separate file manager

Update is live in Google Play now, new additions:
Save or Share a single video from a motion photo image
Bulk save multiple videos from a selection of motion photo images (just multi-select images and share over to the app)
Have Samsung now taken your idea? After a recent software update I noticed the following...
When I choose motion photos in my gallery and choose to share them I select the ones I want as before and then it gives me the option of saving them as video or photo files and then saves them to the same album. It does not direct me to several sharing types where I select your apk...?
In fact although I have not deleted your apk it now does not show on the list of sharers anymore so i cannot use your apk anymore?
---------- Post added at 07:32 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:31 AM ----------
If I choose the option of saving as a video file your apk doesn't show in the list, but if I choose the option of saving as an image file it does and then can go on to save a gif as usual....
It would be nice to have slower gif options too.
I wonder if Samsung can be convinced to make the Motion Photos longer than 2 seconds.. I would prefer about 4 seconds myself.

They haven't really taken my idea as such as they have implemented the feature they should have always had I think it's great they have responded so quickly and built it into the system.
As for the Motion Photo Sharer app, as you noticed, it now supports exporting to animated GIF support so hopefully some people still find it useful for that (plus it has multi-motion photo export).
And yes to use it you will need to share as picture as the app reads a motion photo (jpg) not the video itself.
When you say slower GIF options, what do you mean exactly? Right now it exports the speed based on the timing of the video.
I suppose for me the short video clips are too short at only 2 seconds, and the gif's set to only 5 fps still go too quickly. I wish Samsung would lengthen the time.
Not sure where to go to make such suggestion to Samsung.. I'm sure it is only a software thing so they could lengthen the time to say 4 seconds quite easily?

Ah I see. Right now changing the fps value doesn't actually change the length of the GIF. For example, if the video was 3 seconds then the GIF will still be 3 seconds regardless of if 5 fps, 8 fps or higher fps is set (it just plays the frames slower or faster as needed). I could add an option to choose the play time if you think that would be useful? So you could just to play the GIF at normal speed or slow speed.

Really not sure, that's a question for Samsung I'm guessing it's not that difficult to lengthen it, but there's probably some trade offs such as JPG file size going up further and longer writes to disk between shots.

The Motion Photo video clips are shot at 29 or 30 fps, but the Slow motion mode on the S7 uses 240 fps. Sometimes that is a bit too slow so some kind of sliding adjustment would be nice. If you save a Slo-Mo video it captures the whole clip at slow motion, but if you adjust it in the phone player by moving the bars along, you can make only a certain section of the clip go at slo-mo.... and you can then save it like that by exporting it first.

Good job with this app.I appreciate the work . However i must be doing something wrong..I try to share a gif created from the app on whatsapp..however on the receiving end, they are getting either a short vid or just a photo..not a gif as created by the app. Am i doing something wrong? Is there a certain step i am missing? It creates a gif and saves it to my gallery..its when i send it..it gives my an option to send video or image..i tried both..and no gif. Thanks in advance

I think the problem is WhatsApp doesn't support animated GIFs It may actually share the GIF file but the user on the other side would then have to download the file and view it in a gallery app that can view animated GIFs. It's probably easier just to share the mp4 video from Motion Photo Sharer to WhatsApp instead.
