Originall, I have 1.18GB free on my internal sd card and suddenly, it was 700MB. I found out it was the DCIM/.thumbnails/.thumbnaildata3 which costed me about 500 MB. I deleted it but there was no change at all. I rebooted my phone and saw the thumbnaildata there again and after deleting it, I got 200 MB left!!! What should I do ?
Your gallery creates this folder and image thumbnails for faster gallery loading.
You can safely delete all files from this folder. But, they'll be regenerated at reboot or gallery restart.
There is a trick to disable it on this thread.

I havent tested or tried this. Use at your own risk.

Okay, I'm sorry if this should be in another forum, but I figured the minds in develpoment would have a better answer.
I have a G Tablet, running TnT lite 2.0.0 + 2.0.3 Sup, Launcher Pro, ES File Manager. I was trying to load some files onto the internal SD card using a standard USB connection to my laptop. It connected fine, I used the 'Mount SD Card' option that popped up in the notification section, and it appeard on my laptop fine.
The problem comes that I know the file structure of the External SD Card, Internal SD card, and System sections. So I KNOW I was looking at the Internal SD Card. I copied my files and deleted a txt file that was at the root of the card. Once I properly unmounted the card and checked it using ES Filemanager, none of the changes took place. My new files gone, and the deleted file still there and readable. So I pluged it back in, and the laptop shows the new files are where they should be and the txt file still gone. WTH?!?!
If I load the files the External SD (by removing it and moving them using a seperate SD reader), then transfer the files to the internal using ES File Manager, it works fine. I don't get it.
Okay, used the refresh option in Filemanager, nothing. Rebooted, now I can see the new files, but they have a 0 byte size. ??

Did you 'eject' the disk in Windows before unplugging the cable? Windows has been known to cache writes up and not perform the actual disk open until you eject or stop the device from the icon in the system tray. It caused me to lose some data on a jump drive, so ever since I make sure to force Windows to flush the cached operations by ejecting and waiting for it to tell me it is safe to remove.
The problem is 2.03. USB storage mode was broken with 2.03 and you will probably also notice some installed apps have vanished (another issue with 2.03).
Install 2.04 or the new and awesome 2.20. Both fix the problems. 2.20 is just as fast, but more stable than 2.03.
OK, I thought I would be smart and remove some of the files in the root of the internal SD card. I had a lot of files there that I thought were extras from all the rom and kernel flashing I have been doing. After cleaning up a few and rebooting, my media scanner now runs for several minutes 3-5 minutes, then errors saying my database is full. Any ideas what I have done and if there is a way to fix it?
thanks.

Solved this myself. copied the contents of the internal sd card to my external card with root explorer. formated the internal, then copied the backup back. After that the media scan works as expected.
Does the phone run smoother after the format? I was thinking if doing that just as maintenance and to see if I could trim down some excess files not needed.

Hallo friends, Please help,
Sony Xperia Tipo (single) . Android 4.0.4, Rooted.
1) I used SD maid app to clean system, as usual. Have done it before too.
2) I unmounted the External SD Memory card, in the storage settings.
3) And Remounted it after few seconds.
4) Now the files aren't showing in the walkman. No photos from the memory card showing in the gallery. No any file.
5) The Storage settings show that the Used space and the empty space correctly. But no colored patterns and details of the files.
6) The Root Explorer shows all the files.
7) Tried unmounting, remounting, restarting phone, restarting phone with battery out, nothing worked.
7) The phone connected directly shows only those files that were added newly after this incident (for e.g. one bluetooth transfered file)
8) The memory card connected separately through card reader shows all files.
How to solve it?
Thank you very much.
See you.

There is an easy fix for this. Through your file explorer, open one song on the sd with the walkman app and one picture with the album app. Then reboot. All your files should pop-up now, although it sometimes takes a few reboots to trigger everything.
Hope that helps.

Hallo, thank you Mats,
Although when I viewed the files through Root Explorer, I also played, and viewed all types of media files and restarted. Its still the same. But, Storage settings also doesnt even calculate the files. it directly shows used space, and remaining space, the bar is blank. I will try the trick you explained with several boots now. Or else, I will have to backup memory card, format the card through the phone and re-transfer.
I think the SD maid took away something that was responsible for showing contents in the android system.
Thank you very much ))
In every 2 or 3 months the memory card automatically gets the unreadable file names in the root directory while other folders and files on root are working perfectly.
I searched and found out that the default apps in TouchWiz for photo gallery and files are causing such issues, therefore i installed third party apps for gallery and file navigations, but same problem occurs again.
i tried to delete through windows but its giving error while deleting.
Snapshots attached.
Memory Card info: Kingston 32gb micro sdhc4
Mobile : Samsung GT-19305 (non rooted)
Android Version : 4.3 Jelly Bean
Please forgive if this or similar to this question was previously answered.
I have had a similar issue whenever i remove my usb or sd card without ejecting it. Put your sd card in a card reader. Backuo your data then delete partition by using minitool partition wizard. Recreate partition. Check for disk errors then, in the properties of sd card. It will be good to go.
Hit THANKS if I helped you

Thanks bilal for sharing your expertise with me. Yes, this is the only method left to make my sd card again usable. but transferring the data is headache. isn't there any other option left??
If you want to get it all fine and clean you need to either format it or recreate partition. Its up to you otherwise there are minimal chances of sending those chinese files away. Mine wasn't deleted so i recreated partition...!
Hi all,
On my 4.4.2 Samsung SM-G355h, and since few monthes, i could no more move any of my apps to the external SD card.
These are symptoms:
One folder on the SD card, called Android, can not be deleted, no matter what's the way i try to do it (directrly from the phone, from computer through USB, putting the SD card on other phone ... )
Some time, I could not delete nor move any file on the SD card. I have to restart the phone, and to do it on the first few seconds of the system start up.
On the apps list, and when i look into the apps proprieties, the system could not get the size of the apps. It remains "loading"
When i try to move an application to SD card, the system remains hours with the indication: "moving to SD Card" and nothing happens.
I have tried to reset my phone and then download and reinstall all apps. Same problem.
So, can any one tell me how to fix this problem ?
Thanks

First it could be update related/flash related.
Some versions of stock firmwares contains weird "bootloader" stuffs that prevents rw access to sdcard even if u install the sdCardFix for KK. Sometime it works sometimes not.
And the second is you have to have SdCard KitKatWorkground enabled.
Check : http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-core/help/copy-to-ssd-samsung-galaxy-core-2-sm-t3033178.
The /Android folder on extSdCard contains /data and /obb files that have been moves/installed to sdCard, if u delete the folder, U won't be able to run the app from your phone !
