Today, i wonna talk about the feelings about using HTC One X within these three month. Do you guys agree with what i said below these views and Suggestions?
1.HTC One X faults One: poor cooling, heating control is poor.
In a game process, basically 10 minutes can feel HTC One X higher body heat, HTC One X heat dissipation is very poor, CPU heat control is poorer, ARM A9 architecture and four nuclear collocation is very mature. The worse when in the summer, HTC One X of this defect is more outstanding, if you are not in the official website the OTA upgrade or flash, you must endure this faults.
Solution: Suggestions on an official OTA upgrades, you should upgrade to version 1.29 will be improved.
2, HTC One X faults 2: electric consumption too fast, wait for electric time is short.
People who often use 3 g get to the Internet, and background to open some games, HTC One X may power spent only half a day. HTC One X power consumption quickly, stay electric time is short.
HTC One X power consumption problem solution: brush into based on official bag custom ROM, simplify part of the application, do not recommend using a third party theme or desktop starter, suggest to add the weida save electricity patch.
3.HTC One X faults 3: memory card is too small.
Because design reasons, HTC One X used Tegra 3 four nuclear processors, such collocation is some unreasonable. With a period of time you will find that HTC One X will be caton phenomenon, or three application above will also appear such circumstance.
HTC One X memory is too small problem temporarily no better solution.
4, HTC One X faults 4: Sense 4.0
This generation of Sense UI are no longer as fluent stable, because it takes a large amount of memory and the design of some complicated, changed the HTC to mobile phone users in the past operation experience
Sense 4.0 problems solution: through the flash brush into CM9 ROM or MIUI ROM or primary ROM, can substitute for good choice.
5.HTC One X faults five: some details.
HTC One X's camera is prominent, so that the permanent will appear surface wear condition. Video recording although is 1080 p, but is not smooth, at the same time for the volume recording worse. The lack of HDMI interface. These are the details of the defects, One X is a regret.
Do hope these my opinions can give you buddy some help!
How about you guys comment my summary for these shortcomings and suggestions, if you find any other inf about HTC One X, please give me the message.
Im pretty sure your in the wrong forum. This is the htc one xl, you mentioned the tegra 3 so you must have the international ver. But anyway:
1. Every phone gets hot.
2. Battery life has been fine for me, easily lasts a whole day with moderate use.
3. No expandable memory is a problem for many but for people like me, its not needed so if you get past that its all good.
4. Really? I think sense 4.0 is the best yet, most fluent and polished version IMO
5. Camera has been perfect for me but yeah it does protrude a bit.
My rogers one x gets hot as balls...which I don't think is healthy for the internal battery. But... at the time of purchase it was also 200$ cheaper than the S3.
Just in case you didn't know, the bastards over at Rogers think its okay to release firmware updates 6 years after everyone else. I'm willing to bet 10$ they hired a rabbit to do firmware update work
Even so, I encourage you to visit our lovely development section and avail yourself of our extensive collection of roms and kernels. We have a different phone here, but hey, what's the harm?

Ok, it has virtually the same specs. Less RAM though??
Good news, we can get a ROM port from it and enjoy the new Sense 4.0
Will you say its a successor to our phone or not?

Advantages over Desire S
1) Actually, the One V has a better screen than us.
Ours is SLCD, this is SLCD2.
According to Paul obrien, it is so amazing, it makes his Galaxy Nexus look 10 years old!
Bloody hell, that says a lot!
2) it also has a better camera, it has a wider lens..
3) larger battery - 1500mah compared to our 1450mah.
Although, the SLCD2 May drain more battery

The ONE V is just the ugly successor of the Legend.

Thanks for the input mate
Yeah, I think this is meant to be the successor to the Legend/Wildfire S.
It has near the same specs as us. This is considered a low-end phone. It will be priced around the same margin as the current Wildfire S. This means our phone is now low-end!!
Can you imagine, when the DHD was released, it was a top of thre range high end phone - ann android lovers dream, but now the specs of the DHD are in a low end phone!
IMO, it looks like a sexy device!

This appears to be an error from GSMArena as specs from htc's own website for One V show Sense 4.0 on it http://www.htc.com/au/smartphones/htc-one-v/#specs
It also shows that the phone does have a microSD expansion slot as read reader comments from a review site being critical of the phone for not having one
Yes, its still Sense 4 but with less animations (imo not a bad thing).
From what Ive seen on the videos so far, the cube animation when switching homescreens and the new coverflow taskmanager("recent apps") are missing.
As said before, its very similar to our DS, i dont see a reason to upgrade (i will wait one more year).
it have some specs that are a little better (screen, camera), but other are worth (storage, ram, size, battery).
but we can port roms, and get better support for next year
about the new task manager, i liked it, sad it is missing
we have more ram. if we get kernel 3.0 then i say desire s is much better then this one.
What none of you seem to have noticed... is that the One V doesn't have a front facing camera! No 3G video calling on your One V sir!
Also, HTC seems to have dropped the Search key from the entire lineup of the "One" series phones (only three buttons now)... One of the reasons i like my phone is because of that damn button.. it's just too frigging convenient!
So the DS still kicks its ass.
But seriously... is HTC nuts? No front camera? Who does that in today's world man?!

Some things missing, but a direct WVGA port, with no resizing? Makes me smile inside.
Personally, the One S just went right to the top of my list, but still a long time away, when it drops price.

Thanks dan. But i think he just got the resolution part wrong, not the device. (wouldn't want to upgrade to a device without a front camera...)
No front camera then (One V)... so again, driver issues with that one (will have to kang it over from elsewhere).
And if he was talking about the One V, it is hardly worth considering as your next device. We have much more going for the DS... as i posted above. If considering an upgrade, at least think of the One S, or the One X (if you manage to rob a bank!!)
I meant that a direct port of the One V will be way easier than from the other models, due to the hardware similarity (apart from the non-existing FFC).
The One S went to the top of my to buy list, somewhere down the road.
Cheers

The confusion was regarding the screen resolution on the One S.
I do not know you well enough to gauge your taste in devices, so cool it.
Hello guys, i'm in love with the One S, but i've been watching the forums lately, and the One S is receiving way less attention then the One X.
We have at least 3 big and great custom Roms for the One X, and i can't see any for the One S yet.
Do you guys think the One S android development is going to reach the One X sometime?
I want to know this, before i buy the phone, or else i'm getting a One X
One x doesn't have a bootable cyanogenmod..mainly sense roms. The desire HD took a while to kick in on dev side also..its preference
The only development missing is really cyanogenmod daily type and tool sets Modding battery etc.you won't be missing out on much.plus our battery's last longer and doesn't have the flex issue the first x stock has lol
It is slow bit but come onn...crap phones have active development...it will happen.

One X counts as "Flagship" so more ppl buying it - more development. But I think after first few 2-3 month ppl will understand that S is as good as X, also I guess it wont be problem to take same roms from X and make them avaible for S.
Definetly not something what should affect your decision about what phone to buy. Choose which u like more, the development of roms will be good for both.
Maybe One S will get more attention after it gets released on Tmobile.

I'm so happy that I opted for the S instead of the X. In my (humble) opinion, most people have been drawn to the Quad core of the X - but it seems the S is just as, if not more, powerful!
I think as people realise that the S is up there in the power ratings then development will pick up. I hope so, I miss having my Insertcoin\ARHD etc ROMs to choose from =D

Its not the Quad-core that stands out on X, its the 720p IPS SLCD2 display. Its the best on the market today. I havent seen One S in person, but usually SAMOLED displays suck big time, perhaps HTC done some calibration on this one to make it better.
I love the Amoled screen, I thought it was ace on the SGS.... I think its even better on the One S....

i also can't wait for s-off. the htc dev method isn't a choice for me.
I'm disappointed in the developers which decide blind for the one x. Sure it is the Flagship, but with years old manufacturing technique. nobody can say that a comparable 40nm manufactured cpu saves more energy that a 28nm manufactured one. faster sure, but a pockedheater^^
only one good dev for a rom and one for the kernel is enought for us. I love to flash costum roms, best two times a week^^ i miss it.

It's a simple question of: What's better, Samsung Galaxy Nexus or the HTC One X? I was thinking of getting a new phone and can't decide which one to get!

Gaming: tegra 3 (just google it)

Hey dude cooldown. i made a mistake so what? i am a human. i just love all android phones. and version number not everything.
I have both, if camera is a high priority, in phone storage is a low priority, and you dont mind Sense (at least till after the kernel is released) than the One X is for you.
If you like the vanilla experiance, need a little more storage on your phone and don't need a good point and shoot on your phone, then the galaxy nexus is for you.
I havent seen a whole lot of difference in gaming, I tend to play simpler games on my phone. that said, I do have GT3 on both and I notice no real difference in the way they run it. I am running Jellybean on the Nexus and both phones are NOT over clocked.
There will be good ASOP roms for the One X once the kernel is released. I remember going threw all this waiting with the thunderbolt.
Also OP, which HTC One X are we talking about?
International version or the one carried by phone providers? :silly:

In a nutshell. The sgs 3 is the same processor as the one x. Performance will be about the same with multi tasking being better on the sgs 3. You give up an sd card slot and a removable battery in favor of a better screen and more of a solid feel.

I hope you're right man. I think it's the superior phone. If we could only get something like CM9 working completely that would fix the multitasking, then i'd have no complaints.
I had the one x , sold it and bought an s3 (att/rogers dual core version)
Honestly and truly the one x is a better device in some ways. The battery life is much better on the one x due to the lcd screen using less power despite the two having the same processor. The screen is better too, the one x screen is a lot better and clearer even at lower brightness. Not to mention it just overall looks better (brighter and truer whites, colours also actually look natural unlike amoled). And you cant even deny the fact that the one x has a much much better build quality its a better and more solid feeling device.
Though the siii has an edge over the one x in some areas like sense vs touchwiz, i find that touchwiz almost never lags vs the one x still had hiccups in some areas slight homescreen lag etc etc which is almost non existant on the siii. Plus for me the major issue that drove me away from my one x is the multi tasking issue, basically the one x has the most aggressive app switcher that kills an app almost instantly after you exit it, the phone is near useless at multi tasking. iE if i was listening to music and went to change the song while browsing, when i came back to the browser the phone would have to "reload" the app.
With that said, the two phones are practically neck to neck, just depends what you prefer as strongpoints and what you can live with as weak points. I would sell my siii in a heartbeat if the stupid multi tasking issue was fixed on the one x.
just my " two cents."

Curious, what was your net loss selling the One X and buying a new S3?

Hmm i got lucky and got a good price for my one x, bought it for 500, sold it for 480 and bought the galaxy s iii for 500.
I prefer the screen and build quality of the One X but love that Samsung released source code so soon (most likely just to steal sells and pull users like myself)
Everything else has been said. They both have advantages and disadvantages. It's pick your poison.
Me, I chose to go where the source was. No sense waiting 90 to 142 (if there's an update) days and using workarounds to unlock the bootloader if someone else openly offers both.
I know, I'm a broken record since I got this phone. I'll try to post a little less lol. Just frustrated with HTC

The main reason i dont like my GS3 is because the build quality of it feels a bit cheap, like the back battery cover already has a crack in the top right corner. I also get a few kinks like my SD card randomly unmounts, i get lags here and there, a few FC's, and launcher restarts. Other than that the phone is solid...Just a couple things i would expect it to tackle but samsung kinda over looked.
On the other hand ive used HTC devices before and there build quality even back when i was using the G1 was great, they make it feel solid along with adding the perfect amount of weight to the phone. Ive never had a problem with an HTC phone, only with there batterys, thats why i was kinda leery on the One X not having a removable back so if the battery does screw up like it has in my G1, HD2 and MT4G i can just easily put a new one in. But overall i dont mind it having less ram and no SD port because i pay for my dropbox monthly to have extra space.
gunnyman said:
In a nutshell. The sgs 3 is the same processor as the one x. Performance will be about the same with multi tasking being better on the sgs 3. You give up an sd card slot and a removable battery in favor of a better screen and more of a solid feel.

Agreed. That being said I'm favoring my SGSIII at the moment.

Ok, so i have had the AT&T Galaxy S3 for a couple weeks now and its not wowing me like i was expecting and been eyeballing the AT&T HTC One X and not sure on getting that next and selling the S3. So what are your opinions on whats a better device and why its the better device. And before some one trys to bash me, i like other peoples review on devices and why than going by some internet post without hands on backing to it.

Its getting redundant with that same reply im getting. Like i stated in the OP "And before some one trys to bash me, i like other peoples review on devices and why than going by some internet post without hands on backing to it." I much rather take to a forum where the main phone is the HOX where people that will actaully reply used the One X and maybe both One X and SGS3 and can give me solid reasoning why. I trust some ones word that has used the device longer then just some one who is just doing a review because they have too...

Thanks for your questions. After all it is the General HTC one X forum!
Rather than waste a post with a school girl reply, I will help answer your question.
I have had both and took back the SGIII. I like the One X better, mainly because the SGIII screen does not work as well outdoors and the whites are more greyish than the One X.
Hope that helps?
What's not "wowing you" about the SGS 3? This info might get you a better answer.
We seem to be losing more and more people everyday to the sgs3. Source better come soon or I think this phone will be doomed development wise.

Hi all...
I currently live over in the Sensation forums, I have a rooted Sensation XE.
I just wanted to know whether it was worth upgrading to the One XL.
A few questions:
1. How much screen on time do you guys generally get? (Battery life.)
2. Is the signal strength (cellular) of this phone bad? (The Sensation is pretty awful.)
3. Does this phone overheat a lot?
4. Are there any known manufacturing defects with this phone? (For example Sensation has dust gathering underneath the screen.)
5. And also, is it getting official Sense 5?
If all goes well, I will probably get one off eBay, used, but in good condition, with warranty.
Thanks a lot guys.

1. On average about 3, but people have gotten up to 6 with about 12 hours total.
2. I don't believe so...
3. No
4. This phone is occasionally known to go from full charge to zero completely randomly, and sometimes just stop working entirely.
5. Yes
I've never had a problem with mine. Accessories are hard to find. It was depressing when HTC almost immediately replaced it with a new model. Development is a little slow but what there is is amazing. I've gotten close to 20 hours on the sense 5 port.

So would you say it is "easy" to get at least 5 hours of screen on time? Because one of the reasons for my upgrade is the need for better battery life.
(In comparison, my Sensation gets a smidge over 4 hours screen on time if used VERY conservatively.)

Oh dear, that sounds bad. Is it a widespread problem? How many times has it happened to you? I'm assuming it is a hardware defect? Would a warranty return fix it?

How much screen on time did you get?
EDIT: I have heard that some people have replaced their One XL battery with the higher capacity One X+ battery, is this modification easy and common?

I mean, if you just went from 100%-0% you could probably get 5-6 hours easy. With normal standby time as well, probably not. I once got 29 hours with 4.5 hours screen on. That's the best I've ever gotten but generally battery life is very good. Side note: Sense ROMs provide better battery.

It is a problem with every phone that COULD happen, but it only happens to a very few number. Sadly, I was one of them. Yes warranty fixes it.
EDIT: if for some reason warranty doesn't cover it you can send it into mobiletechvideos.com for JTAG

I tried to do this, but it's not easy. I couldn't get everything apart.
This is my fifth android device since the Dream (aka G1) and it's the first one that makes me feel like android was finally done right.
It certainly will feel like an upgrade from the sensation, and apart from external speaker sound it doesn't feel like a downgrade from a One.
My buddy has a one and I played extensively. If I didn't know the specs I would have assumed they were about equal. The One has a better screen, but only if you look closely.
What I'm trying to say is this: you will have a hard time doing much better than this phone right now. Quad core and 1080p screen with 2gb ram is cool, but I couldn't really tell a huge difference. They are both fast and smooth. On the other hand, this will blow you away after the sensation
Edit: also, I bought an Anker Slimtalk external battery for like $30 off amazon and I've never worried about battery life since. I can charge the phone in my pocket unless I'm wearing stupid tight hipster skinny jeans (which never happens)

Thanks for the very useful & helpful replies guys.
I have some more questions:
I am really confused, I am trying to buy this phone here in Europe (UK), and there is a lot of conflicting information in regards to specs. Some websites say that the One XL has 800/1800/2600 Mhz LTE bands, where as some say it only has 1800/2600 Mhz bands - i.e missing out on the 800Mhz "crucial" frequency which has better penetration inside buildings, and provides coverage for far reaching signals in suburban/regional areas...
Also, a lot of eBay listings say it has 16GB internal storage, whereas others say it has 32GB. I thought the One XL only came in 32GB?? http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_one_xl-4572.php
What device/model designations did HTC give this phone, and what are the differences, if any? (Eg, Z560e etc...)
Thanks a lot once again guys.
I'm not sure about the bands, maybe it's the difference between the One XL and the One X, you're currently in the One XL forum. The differences between the two models are:
One XL: Qualcomm dual core processor and LTE compatible. For some stupid reason this model is also branded as a One X by some carriers like AT&T, causing a lot of confusion.
One X: Tegra quad core processor and not LTE compatible. Often referred to as the International One X.
What I do know there is there's a model of the XL which was released here in Australia (exclusively to Telstra network I think) which has 32gb capacity. All other models have 16gb.

Well the (International) One X doesn't support 4G for a start, I stated 4G bands.

Ahh ok, my apologies, I'm no good with the bands. And yes, the majority of XL models come with 16gb, only the Australian model comes with 32gb.

This phone also has a "black screen" problem where the display will simply die for no apparent reason. It's rare but it happened to mine. The phone still works otherwise but the screen is dead. AT&T gave me a One because my One X was two weeks out of warranty.

Ya the guys here are extremely helpful and also have a great sense of humor

i think the release of the aosp 3.4 kernel will extend the life of the device quite a bit which is something to consider.

I agree all of the people who are apart of this forum are very friendly and willing to help.
To answer the topic in my words yes is worth upgrading to the One XL from the sensation. You get a better processor, camera, and display. If I remember the sensation is on the old qualcom s3 processor. Depending on what your doing the phone shouldn't get to hot unless your watching long movies or playing games. I would suggest buying a case because the phone is so lite you might feel like it will break.

Better processor, better camera (not hugely better though), better screen size, better screen res, NFC, 4G LTE, better battery life.
Trouble is there are so little on eBay, they keep getting snapped up quickly - its hard to make a catch without overbidding

Yep, happened to me and G4 Man, if you take apart the phone and reposition the wire that is bent at a 90° angle, the display will turn on, for reasons unknown, and for more reasons unknown it shorts the wire and it literally ignites.
