NTFS autmount - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey
Well, I hope somebody of you might help me. I`m using the CFW [ROM][JB][4.1.1] AOSP build #5.1.0 and as in the discription written the automount of external Harddrives dos not Werk yet. Is there any chance to get them working?
I`m using an adapter to plugin the drives. In the settings I can see hat Android recognizes the device but iT can`t supply it. Is there ans workaround? Because I really don`t want to change the ROM

Thank you, it works really.
The only thing to complain about is that you have to remount a device on another mounting point every time when you connect a device.

DSLR Camera USB input

Can anyone tell me if rooting will make this possible?
I want to be able to plug my DSLR camera directly into the USB on my Xoom and download the pictures. Is this possible if I root and use the new Tiamat Kernel?
Thanks,
I don't think tethering a camera has been possible on any android device yet.
You cant control a DSLR but it might mount as an external drive. Havent tried it myself yet, need to order to right cable or adapter.
I have the adapter on the way. And yes, I didnt want to control it, only mount the CF card in the camera so I can access the pictures.
Yeah the only way I've found to accomplish what you are trying to do was to use an external USB card reader, which (assuming you have rooted and performed the USB host hack) you can plug into the xoom (via adapter) and read the CF off of the card reader. In order for the camera to connect directly to the Xoom, I believe the Xoom would have to have drivers for the camera itself (though I could be wrong, but either way that method doesn't work as of now).
without the drivers installed on my pc my camera acts like a usb card reader
Can someone walk me through how to mount mass storage? I am trying to hook up my camera so see the photos on the SD cardof the camera. I am rooted using the tiamat 1.4.0 kernel. I have hooked it up with my cable adapter and checked usbOTG, external, and sdcard2 but none of the files show up there. I rebooted and still nothing. Do I need to run a script fro it to show up?
Very cool... I'd love to see a pimped out photoshop for honeycomb

Motorola has a USB camera accessory (and pending software update) to enable PTP which will likely do watch you need. Coming very soon. No rooting required.
See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054636
I have read the mounting USB storage thread and followed the directions exactly but I am having issues. I posted in that thread this same question but it doesnt seem to be getting any attention so I figured i would try the same question here as its all related. I am trying to access the CF card in mt camera but i cant get the script to work.
gscript continues to give a permission denied error everytime I run either script even though I have chmod'd all files and folders.
mount -o remount,rw /
mkdir /mnt/ntfsdisk
ln -s /mnt/ntfsdisk /ntfsdisk
ntfs-3g /dev/block/sda1 /mnt/ntfsdisk
scriptor says:
couldn't set local enviornment, using default {null}
failed to access /dev/block/sda1 please check dev/block/sda1 and the ntfs-3g binary permissions and the mounting user ID
do i need to do anything from the roebeet page if i am already running tiamat 1.4.0? All i did was follow the instructions from the first post of this thread.
I was able to plug in a 2gb thumb drive and see it under the OTG folder. Still no luck mounting a NTFS drive though.
I HAVE A WIFI XOOM
thanks,
Bump for help
Would love to see this

Buy an Eye-Fi card for your camera and download the eye-fi app for your xoom. once the two are paired, every new photo you take with your camera will appear on your xoom over wifi. No cables needed.

You can find a great app in the market called "DSLR Controller". Currently only works with Cannon DSLR and requires root, but allows full control and live preview of your camera right on your xoom. It's Awesome !

Tried Stock, CM10, now on AOKP-JB built 3
So you are running AOKP , so i assume you are not just talking about moving files from your PC to your tab , after installing the correct drivers from Samsung ( either via Kies or Windows update).
So what exactly do you want to do ? Am i right in saying that you want full access from your PC to your tab via USB ? From what I have worked out it doesn't work like that with our tabs as the set permissions wont let you. Or have it got it wrong ?
Have you read this thread by ChainFire? ( he IS the man ! ).

Sorry, I don't understand why it's better. I just bought a Tab 2 and when I hooked it up to my pc I could see the folders and files and copy music and videos to it. I was going to hook it up again now to see if it's about getting into system files or something, but I'm exchanging it later today and I already did a factory reset.
Is it something to do with modding system files, rooting and flashing files that's easier with it? Sorry if this is a stupid question. I'm new to the Tab and rooting and flashing on my phone (Rezound) is so completely different than this, I'm still absorbing everything and trying to understand it all before I do anything with a Tab.

Simple... MTP permits u to copy to / from video, music, photo... files. Finish.
USB Mass Storage gives u the total permission of copying files but also... format partition, defrag, open files directly from the device, etc etc.

Yeah, we know it's broken... it has been mentioned 1000 times this is broken in Marshmallow just like it was before the last Lollipop update, just have to wait for Moto to fix it.
There was one post where someone said they got it working in ES File Explorer and an external powered hub, something like you connect it with power, then disconnect power and connect the flash drive or something like that, but most people couldn't duplicate it. Google might help.

Nice... the US version does not work.
XT 1543, the Brazilian version does not work too.
Just to update my experience, today I updated from the last soak to the release Marshmallow on my XT1540. OTG works fine and I'm able to connect to my SanDisk 32GB flash drive. I've never had a problem with OTG in Marshmallow.

[Completed] Weird Problem with OTG

I currently have 2 external hd I use for OTG, 3tb Passport Ultra and a 4tb Passport, both formatted to exFat. At first, the 4tb works like a charm. Suddenly, got an error from it from my android tablet that it was damaged and needs to be reformatted. Plugged it into my computer and my computer recognized it and its contents so i rand chkdsk and found no errors. When I tried it again on my tablet, it displayed the same error so I opted to format it again to exFat and copy some videos on it and tested it on my tablet. Unfortunately I ran into the same error. Basically my tablet cant recognize this external HD anymore without help of stickmount on exfat or paragon on ntfs. My other hd still works even though I reformatted it again and my tablet seems to recognize it without a problem. Has anyone come across something like this before?
Hi !
Please give us more info about your tablet , model / android version/ software status ( rooted , unblocked bootloader , mods installed ) in order to provide assistance , thank you

My tablet is a Galaxy Tab S2 (T-810) 5.1.1. stock root.
I feel that the problem lies with the external hd instead. All my android device sees it as corrupted but it works with no problem with Windows. I can only mount it with stickmount and paragon.
I don`t know how it worked at first , 4TB hdd needs lot of power to work on a Samsung device , you may need a Y cable
If stickmount does the trick then keep on using it , it may be software related , maybe an updated application did something
I may suggest to reflash the stock firmware and try on a clean system but a 4TB hdd it looks too much for a tablet

I use a y cable on it. The thing is, it used to worked before. One day it suddenly said that I need to reformat it again. I have another external hd (3tb) and it works no problem. I think something happened on the hard drive itself.
It could be a connector problem as well, a shortcut or something

Kodi is an Android app, not any Android OS version. Kodi might come with a NTFS-driver built-in, IDK.
To read NTFS-formatted USB-drives under Android you need an external driver such as
exFAT/NTFS for USB by Paragon - Apps on Google Play
Full non-root access to files on Microsoft exFAT / NTFS USB-stick from Android
play.google.com
and a filemanager that works with this driver such as
X-plore File Manager - Apps on Google Play
X-plore is dual-pane file manager with tree view, LAN/Root/Clouds and more.
