I'm sure anyone who saw the Galaxy NOTE 10.1 Hand-on video at GSMArena, has noticed the SPLIT-VIEW function of the tablet.
Take a look at the video from GSMArena which starts at around the 0:53 mark:

THE Question: Now since the oversized NOTE it's running on ICS, couldn't that be ported to our NOTE in GB flavor or in a ICS one?
Share your thought's, especially DEVs.
+1 Please make this possible!
but it only works for s.memo..as i read...developers can take it from there tho
Don't care what it works for, its awesome and our Note deserves it. Any love the ATT Note and new 10.1 Note get in terms of TW or SPen, I'd like to see that filter down to us. We are the original Note and Sammy looks like they will be pushing the SPen tech from here on out.
Basically if my Note does not see these type of updates, why should I buy the next gen Sammy hardware with SPen? I specifically do not buy Apple for this type of practice
Our talented DEVs will find a way. They always do, right?
I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Sammy threw in new SPen features with the official ICS release for the Note. Perhaps this was one of many reasons its been a slow start on leaks. One can hope
All I know is what I'll be doing the next few weekends ... participating in Sammy's $100,000 SPen app challenge.
I was reviewing note 2, why dont we have all its features like airview on our notre 10.1,who else feels the same way!!!

Have a look at the video on the following link, it's a very early alpha release of what's to come with our upgrade to Jelly bean and although it does not demonstrate air view, I have a feeling it will be included in the final releases pushed OTA. The video does demonstrate some key note 2 features:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1887594
As alpha releases go, this leak is surprisingly robust and stable.
The final version should be quite extraordinary.
Its just a mongrel having to wait for it....
wow , It just makes my craving for note 2 much less
Thanks for sharing
I wonder how much I can sell my Note 5.3 for to get the Note 2...
Note 2 features on 10.1 Note
I agree, I am looking forward to taking receipt of my Galaxy Note 2 next week, here in Sydney. One of the first I suspect..I will find it difficult to go back and forth between my two devices and not have the same features available. Having recently rooted my S3 to the polish edition of JellyBean, I am excited about the Jellybean experience on my Note 2. But BUT, hope wish and pray we get the same features soon on the 10.1.:cyclops:
Hello fellow Note 10.1 Owners,
I recently got a Note 10.1 as a gift and have been really enjoying it. One feature I am really missing from the Nexus 7 though is user switching (which comes with Android 4.2). I owned a Samsung Epic 4g in the past so I know that waiting for Samsung to release this update is futile.
I am considering installing CM10.1 on the tablet, but I was wondering if anyone can comment on the difference in features as compared to Touchwiz. I run CM10.1 on my Galaxy Nexus and my fiancee runs it on her Galaxy S3, but I feel that things are slightly different with the Note 10.1 since it has the s-pen and handwriting recognition.
I was just wondering if anyone has tried CM10.1 on the Note 10.1 and can share their opinion.
Can I survive without user switching? Yes.
Would it be fantastic to have? Of course.
Do I love the look of stock Android over Touchwiz? No question.
Does Samsung's crappy attempt at skeuomorphic graphics frustrate me? To no end; this is not the year 2001.
Thank you!
I came from a nexus 7 and to be honest, I've had a few Samsung things and one thing I hate is the ui, it's like it was made for kids. The stock ui is by far superior.
Anyway the one thing stopping me from switching is the lack of multi window. If you don't need that then switch, I've tried cm10 and it worked great.

I have tried it and its ok but many things made me flash back to stock based.. No mulit-window and IR blast features.. also its not as loud as stock using my noozxide mod.. I listen to LOTs of music and I needed that extra juice on some songs because not all songs are the same volume.. but other than those features i would have stayed on cm10.. i might try it out again someday.. maybe even port those features over if i can...
I can do without multi-window but I do really like the IR functionality (despite the fact that Peel lists 40+ input modes for my Onkyo receiver and I only have 3, so it is quite the guessing game). I think I will just give it a go with CM 10.1 and see if I am really missing anything. I am assuming I can use Titanium to back up PS Touch so that I do not have to purchase it once I install CM 10.1.
CM10.1 is really a nice ROM. UI is great, browsing is much faster and there are no lags even if I open many apps at once. I say give it a try and be amazed!
Thanks for the helpful feedback. I had made a thread in general and somehow missed this one. I am on Cyanogenmod now and contemplating switching to stock-based. Is there really a noticeable lag on stock that doesn't exist in CM10.1? During what activities?
I notice the most lag when switching to recent apps.. its instant on cm10 and its about a 5-10sec delay on stock..
I'm not entirely sure what's causing it, but I really feel like CM 10.1 has much worse battery life than the Stock ROM does even though Stock has like, 500 more garbage apps installed. There's got to be something in the Samsung build that's making the variance between builds so large.
On Stock I can use my tablet at school from 10:45am to 8:40pm with maybe 2.5 - 3 hours of non-use. On its worst day, I got home and before plugging it in the battery was around 30-ish %.
Tuesday of this week I was using the latest CM Nightly and had to start adjusting system settings that I never touch, like screen brightness to as low as I could use it while still seeing the screen, silent, wifi off, gps off, etc. I was under 20% when I left that night, and that was after putting it back in my bag about halfway into my last class.
Really stinks because I much prefer CM over Stock, but if the battery life doesn't improve, I can't justify using something that's somehow actively killing my device faster.
Hello everyone. ok so i have a samsung vibrant old school samsung galaxy s 1 phone . I havnt felt the need to upgrade i was thinking about it than i put android 4.3 on that and its butter now. So i want this on my note as well.
I am concerned about a couple of things first multiwindow but i saw play store has an app that makes everything multiwindow so thats not a problem any more... i am wondering if the app will work if i put 4.3 in there and take out samsung UI.
Now my second concern is i use the feature of the note where u click with the stylus and select anything, crop it and import it to another app. VERY USEFUL feature for making notes on lecture notes. So i was wondering if this feature would go away with the 4.3 install.
and third the feature of snote mini popping up when i double tap stylus would that go away too?
Lastly what is the difference between orignal android develpment and android development.
Some please answer me. I will very much appreciate your time . THANKS
1 2 3 anything that is a samsung touchwiz feature goodbye
4 original is more for elite devs something like that
multiwindow,
spen and all associated features,
ir blaster,
and whatever other touchwiz features will no longer work if you install a 4.3 rom
why exactly do you need 4.3?

thats a bummer. I dont need it i want it. I like to keep my software updated its just a personal preference. But in the case of 4.3 i noticed major speed improvement on my phone so i wanted to see how bad ass my tablet would be if i had that on there. I am guessing it has that TRIM memory management built in that why its like that w.e it is i really enjoyed how smooth my phone was after. But I am not willing to give up the touchwiz features college is the reason i bought this particular tablet. thanks for the answer guys :good: Maybe ill sell this and go for the 2014 note :cyclops:
The Note 4 introduces many innovations in software that could easily be ported to Note 3, such as improvements with S-Pen software, general UI changes, and overall a fresh, new software.
We have the Galaxy S5 ROM (with ported s-pen features from n3 rom) that runs perfectly fine, camera and browser and all. It would seem feasible that the Note 4 ROM can easily be ported to the Note 3, keeping intact many features once unique to the Note 4.
Do you think we'll see a note 4 ROM on note 3?
What features unique to the Note 4 would you like to see ported, specifically?
Mouse pen features, copy and select
On S5 Port ROM thread developer said, that he will port ASAP Note 4 ROM for Note 3.
But firtst must be Note 4 ROM available for download.
I don't think it will take too long before someone does it.

with out a doubt... it will be here... just need to wait the firmware to be release...
Btw, despite the Mouse SPen features, what else are you guys looking for, from the Note 4?
Anything that we see in the note 4 would be great such as the multi window features, smart select in the air command, it's snote and the wide selfie mode in camera.
yep fahadali2315 will deliver, great dev and a gentleman who tries hard to accommodate most. Just begun to feed him coffee to keep him up for extra work here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2771454&page=237
Looking forward to that... Where can I find the ported s5 ROM? I like new touchwiz better than old tw

also if want to flash a ROM in order to have S5's TW you can try Hyperdrive ROM. It does a pretty good job.
the recent apps menu imo looks way better on Note 4 and it's worth porting.
Nice, that does look great!
And thanks guys got the xposed s5 ui

That's the Recent apps off Android L, I believe it's a sign that they're getting ready for that MASSIVE update. :victory:
Because there will be a note 4 port is the main reason I'm sticking with my note 3 and not getting the note 4. I still consider the 3 to be a beast! And with note 4 software, I just can't justify the upgrade.

All I want is the ultra power saving mode to be ported and id be happy
To be fair even the note 2 is a powerful player - note 3 is not that much behind note 4... Add note 4 firmware and debloat a little as standard and you got a phone that has literally no difference except that you miss a little bit of camera quality... But then paying £600 to bump up 3mp isn't really justified... And the n3 camera rocks anyway

I second the ultra power saving mode wanted on note 3. Really, you could do something similar with taker I suppose (someone probably already has a profile for it), but the one for the GS5 looks pretty dang slick.
I will not go for N4 also cause the lack of water proof but i needed the OIS also. Im wa8ting N5
