Email Client Problem - Asus Transformer TF700

I have a new TF700 and easily got the stock email client to sync up with my corporate Microsoft Exchange Active Sync server. Only problem is when I attempt to forward an email it always ends up bundling up the forwarded part of the email - including any attachments - into a *.eml attachment that apparently only MS Outlook understands. On a desktop with outlook you get this message with an attached message, click it, open it and there is the forwarded part of the email and the attachments. But if you forward to someone not with Outlook - i.e. Gmail, Yahoo, a blackberry, etc. it comes in as a nonmame.eml attachment and when you click to open it's just a bunch of text. All other email functions work properly. IT guys say it's a device/OS problem but I don't see anything to modify to make this work. Any suggestions?

I just tried to duplicate this and was unable to. I forwarded an email from my Exchange account on my Infinity to my gmail account. The email showed perfectly in gmail.
Have you tried forwarding to different people to verify it isn't just one specific user account issue? I am assuming you are using the Email app supplied with the tablet that is from Google.

Hotmail sync?

I tried the MyTouch 3G last year and found that it's email sync with Hotmail was poor. If you deleted/read something from the device, it would not delete it/mark it read on the server. I tried the K-9 program, but it was pretty lame as it did not fix the above issues.
Has this been fixed? I really enjoyed all other aspects of Android, but this issue is a necessity for a phone for me.
Also, the native MS exchange server support only covered email. Have they added contacts and calendar syncing? When I had the MyTouch 3G, I bought the program "Touchdown" and that worked slick.
I am just curious to see if the Android people had advanced into the core MS functionality yet.
Thanks for any input.
POP is notoriously hard to keep in sync among multiple clients. There's usually a 'mark as read on download' setting that works ok if you only have one POP client downloading mail. When I last checked Hotmail didn't have that ability but maybe they've done some improvements. If they have an IMAP or ActiveSync option that would be the ideal solution.
In my case I don't use my Hotmail as my primary account but I still have email that goes to it. I use Gmail's ability to sync with external POP accounts to download and label my Hotmail email. This way I get my Hotmail email pushed to me like my Gmail email and I don't have to use separate email clients to read them. I also prefer Gmail's web interface and spam filter so I don't even bother going to Hotmail's site any more. The problem with this approach is that Android's Gmail app doesn't allow you to change the 'from' field so if you reply to a Hotmail email it will be from your Gmail address. This isn't an issue for me since I essentially use my Hotmail as a read-only account. If you have a similar use case then this method would probably work well for you.
Thanks for the input. It sounds like things are about the same as what I was experiencing.

[req] email app allows moving mail between folders

Hello
I like the email client that comes with android (the one for accessing secondary email accounts). It does seem to have a major limitation though, you can not move mail around to different folders (e.g. lets say an important message ended up in my spam folder by accident, I can not see any way to move that message to the inbox)
If this is in fact possible could someone please tell me how to do it, but if it is not (which from what I can tell this is the case) can someone recommend an email app that supports this function.
Thank You
***UPDATE***
Yes I am using the vanilla/AOSP email app being that I am running cm6
The email account that I am connecting to is my AOL account. I am not 100% certain but I thought AOL uses IMAP.
So I guess the new questions are 1) does AOL use IMAP and 2)does the AOSP email app allow you to move emails between folders
If what you are accessing is a POP3 account, then I believe no email client permits you do do this (as this sounds like a sync function only found in IMAP accounts).
What I found to work best (and easiest) is to have my alternate email accounts foward all my mail to my gmail account, and have my gmail account tag each email with the name of the incoming account (hotmail emails are taged hotmail, etc.).
This lets me recieve all my email with one single app (Gmail), provides me with push notifications for every email, permits me to sync emails effortlessly, an so on.

I'd think that any email client can do it, but I personally use K9 Mail and love it, and it certainly does this.
As the above poster says, if you're using POP this might not be possible. IMAP it certainly is. You should not being using POP anyway.
Don't know about the vanilla android one but I know the HTC Email program will let you move between folders.

Can't open PDF Attachments with Email Client

I apologize if this has been asked before, but i haven't been able to find what i need through search tool.
We're demoing a Galaxy Tab here at work, and one thing we have got stuck on is the email client. We use Domino email server, so when setting up the email account options, we chose "other" for the account type. This works, we can send and receive mail just fine; however, there is one problem. When we receive a PDF attachment, there are no options to view/preview/save the attachment. We've installed Adobe Reader from the market to see if that would help, but no luck.
We can receive text files and other files and view them without issue. We also tried sending the same PDF attachment to our test gmail account. The gmail client opened the attachment without any problems.
Any ideas? Is this a strange issue with the "other" account type ? We're stuck.
Well it works fine here using the email app (not the gmail one) with a gmail account
Maybe because i updated to Firmware JM6? I don't know..
I have a corporate account configured on my tab (Zimbra) and everything is fine using the standard mail app (I can fetch and open attached pdf files).
Have you tried to configure the account through Accounts and Sync in Settings, instead of using the mail configuration in mail app? Don't know if it an be different, but I have configured that way and it's working .. just remember to disable contacts sync if you don't want to mesh contacts from corporate
Install Blackmoon attachsave from the market

[Q] Sync Outlook Email on Android (through USB, not Exchange)

I don't have Exchange, I just use Outlook at home with my POP3 account, is there any software I can use to Sync my Outlook emails to my phone (Android 2.2), just through USB sync? I can't find any.
I've got my contacts & calendar sync'ing fine, through HTC sync software.
This is so frustrating not having emails on my phone, I'm almost thinking of installing hMailServer onto my WHS box..
Appreciate the feedback.
HTC Desire HD.
configure your outlook to leave copy of messages on the server and add the same account to your phone using IMAP (or if you do not have IMAP access, set it as POP3 and also leave messages on the server)
I would have replied the same as the previous poster but maybe OP doesn't have a data plan?

That won't really sync with my outlook though, it's just checking the emails remotely, which I have been doing. I file all of my emails that I want to keep from my inbox into sub-folders, so I really need to sync my phone with Outlook.
Anyone else have some options before I start looking at setting up an SMTP server? Surely there's got to be something that will sync Outlook emails?
I was very surprised that the HTC sync software didn't do it!
I'm assuming by the lack of responce my only option is to setup a SMTP server..
I did find one cleaver idea, but isn't suitable for me, posting if anyone else is searching for a solution:
- Use Gmail (or similar) to pick up your email from your pop account
- Sync Outlook & phone with Gmail
The issue I have with this one is I use multiple domain names that I need to email out from..

This is the best method. You can actually pull multiple accounts into GMail (up to 5, I believe), and then you can also set Gmail up so that you can send as one of those accounts. The latest version of Gmail for Android lets you choose which account you then want to use - right there on your phone.

[Q] Android: Saving emails?

I need to find a way to save Emails on an Android phone, no Email client will do that so far as I can find?
My ISP is POP3 ONLY and I'm unwilling to change my email address so don't say use IMAP or Gmail.
I have no problem saving messages on my BB or on a WinMo phone, why can't Android's email client do that? BB has a 'save' option on the email menu which moves the mail to a Saved folder, WinMo allows me to create a Saved folder and move email to it which remains after it's deleted on the server, exactly the same as any email client on a PC so why does Android not allow anything similar?
NOTE: I've set my PC's email client to delete message from the server when they're downloaded, that's not going to change, there has to be a way for the Android device to do that or must I go back to WinMo or BlackBerry because of this one ridiculous failure of the Android OS?
Not sure i'm seeing the problem here. If you want to save your emails just don't delete them?
Same for me. I'd love to be able to make email folders so I can organize the accumulated emails. Having all emails in the inbox just doesn't work and is a pain in the ass.

I believe you're correct, I'm currently back on my BlackBerry as one solution to the problem.
you could try opening a gmail account, sync with your pop3 account and dont tell anyone your new e-mail address
What Robbie said. You can have emails forwarded to your GMail?
Check out K-9 mail. The native email client that comes with android blows- it's bare bones and it's meant to be that way. The phone and the OS is designed to use gmail as your main email. Although a gmail account is my main email, i also have to use some other email account and the native android email app does't cut it for me. K-9 has an archive feature which will create a local folder and save a copy of that email. I am using IMAP and haven't setup anything with pop3, but give it a try and see if this app works for you.

I have set up k9 and tried the archive but it just took the message of the server, how did you copy it instead?
