My phone is dead after switching external sd with internal sd via CWM script .zip file and a little tinkering in the phones system files.
(“I have done this before with success but had just flashed new firmware, and in the rush I was in wile doing it I obviously did something majorly wrong and super bricked my phone”)
After rebooting to complete a step I was doing, the phone did not turn back on, the pc does not detect it properly anymore, no button combinations work, such as pressing vol up when connected without battery, power button and pressing up + vol. No RESPONSE:.
when plugged into the pc it just flashes "OMAP4430 device" but appears and disappears all the time in device manager, now I know all drivers are correct and how to go into download mode, recovery mode and every trick you can with the O3D but none work anymore, phone does not turn on and it only recognizes it for a second showing “OMAP4430 device”.
PS Sorry for the new thread but I have searched the forum and the internet with no real answers, it would be great if there’s a fix for this situation or is my O3D dead to the world never again to be reborn.
NOW IF ANY ONE HAS MANAGED TO FIX A TRULY BRICKE O3D LIKE MINE PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!
sounds like a harware brick i did that to my thrill had to take it in
That’s what I’ve been fearing, my other issue is that the phone is actually a LG thrill from at&t I just call it a O3D because in Australia were I live we only have O3D, and let’s face it they are basically identical, any way would that mean I would have to send it back to the USA for repair?
well is it under warenty? if so youll have to send it to who ever you bought it from. if it isent ull have to get a new logic board and relace it your self or have some one relace it. or send it to lg to fix it
I had a similar problem when installing rom. KDZ:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1473781
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1244490
The problem with "OMAP4430" device I solved by connecting the phone to the computer via a cable from HTC Wildfire (such problems I had with the original cable, LG).
It can change the cable will solve the problem.
I wish you luck.

You have to remove the battery when omap flashes on device manager let go off the button and push and hold it agen it should stay. try this time omap like have your cursor ontop of omap4430 as soon as it appear quickly right click properties and find the driver unplug reconnect it will install the driver when it detects it agen i think with this phones its impossible to hardware brick the phones if only it was easy like samsung just plug in download mode let drivers install and push start button done. if flashing a phone was like a movie lg would be inception
trust me i totaly bricked my phone i tryed every trick pulling the battery out and putting it in in download mode problem was omap didnt even show up just the other one and it would flash on and off way to fast to click on it in device manager then it would just stop.
So did you end up taking it in?, it should still be under manufacture warranty well hopefully I got it in october and I don’t even think the O3D has been out for a year yet.

The problem is that it only starts flashing with the battery removed so, and I can’t get into download mode at all, which is when it normally stays there and detects it properly, otherwise the drivers are all installed.
If it flashes omap its not a complete brick. If all fails try the resistor cable. You can find a post around in the forum
I have tried the resistor cable using 910k resistor, and I even checked it on the multimeter and it reads 908k resistance which should be ok since I think you can allow for a 1% difference.
I could figure out that ur device can be detected as OMAP, this means it isn't bricked totally, please be sure U remove UR battery, connect ur USB--phone side, then press volume up and insert the USB--pc side while pressing the button and continue pressing while ur pc is installing, first it will show OMAP, then after 10-20 sec it will show COM added, don't stop pressing until it finds the COM and installs it, then directly stop pressing and insert battery and don't try to turn it on and start flashing as usual
try to use other USB cable model like sony ericsson, it never failed me
hoping U will be lucky
See the problem is that no button combination work on the phone, pressing a button is like talking to a wall you get no response lol.
I have the same issue and I bought my phone off of Craigslist.. is there anything I can do? I cannot send in via warranty because I do not know when the phone was bought.

its hardware bricked need a new logic board sorry to say
Hi, i had the same problem while upgrading to gingerbread. What windows version are you running? Ihad the same problem using win 7 x64. Got to a win xp computer with no lg software installed and used the tutorial of unbrick from this forum. had to try several times, but at least step by step my phone got back to life. Main thing is to get omap drivers installed on XP with no battery. Then taking the other steps mentionened under unbricking your phone in this forum.
Hope it helps
I have the exact same problem and NOTHING works.
Just to clarify everything, you guys had the same problem where the OMAP4430 device appears and disappears over and over again in device manager and by doing what you all describe, the phone got brought back to life?
Because none of those things work for me, I even tore an old sonyericsson phone apart to get the phone pins connected to my O3D battery and see if the old phone turned on, which it did, so the battery does work.
I installed the OMAP4430 driver without any problems and I guess from here, everything seems to be working for you other guys, right? Because the OMAP4430 is still getting connected and disconnected 10000 times BUT as a "Known" device which has the driver installed.
No need to answer this with "you need to send the phone to LG". Just want to see if I'm on the same track as the guys who got their phone working.
Btw, mine got bricked when formatting the external SD card with CM. Seems as if CM formatted something else..

So let me get this straight. Like a few months ago, there was a way to completely destroy your phone:
install CWM and run an OTA update on stock rom.
That completely ruined my phone. It was explicitly said that no unbrick method is available.
Now I hear several people reporting yet another unfixable brick, caused by
- Erasing your SD card through cyanogenmod
- Formatting /data ?
All the available methods of unbricking are said not to work. And by those methods I mean
- Opening recovery and do a factory reset (recovery can't be opened I heard?)
- Connecting to a Windows 7 PC with battery out and volUp depressed (device disappearing reappearing)
- Connecting to a Windows XP computer With battery out, volup depressed (Same problem as Windows 7?)
So to put it simple:
Doing some things with CWM OR CyanogenMod can render your phone unfixably bricked. There is a genuine risk in hard bricking your phone when you have CWM and/or Cyanogenmod installed.
I'm not going to install either of those for that very reason.
If the omap 4430 is detected when connecting the phone, then the phone should be recoverable. Try another pc system and then use the official lg recovery tool entering the imei number which should hopefully restore the stock rom.
Can i clarify whether or not any other devices appear in the device manager (Remember to hold the up button without battery until these appear and then insert battery after
The entries in device manager that should also appear would be something such as the following (This would probably vary based on whether in normal connection mode or flash mode)
PORTS
LGE android platrom usb serial Port (Com x) x may vary on system
UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS CONTROLLERS
LGE Android Platform Composite Usb device

They said that the omap driver keeps appearing and disappearing. You can't do anything if a driver does that!

My Galaxy Tab 7.7 turns on every few minutes and displays a message for a moment in the lower right corner. The message is "USB Device Disconnected".
The device is not connected to any USB device.
This has been happening for many weeks now.
I've tried to turn the USB Debug option on but that didn't change anything.
I have not rooted the device.
I have not flashed the device.
I am running only stock applications from the market.
Does anyone else have this issue?
It's maddening because the device constantly turns itself on. At night I either remove it from my bedroom (the display lights up the room when it comes on) or turn the device upside down on the table so I can't see it when it comes on.
yes, i have the same issue
no idea what the reason is
Same issue.
One Added Note
One item to add...
It appears that if the unit is charging it does not have this problem. This makes logical sense as the USB is connected, albeit to the wall outlet.
I'm going to wait until ICS - which is due here in Thailand at the end of this month. If that doesn't fix it I will contact Samsung.
Living here in Asia makes taking things back for repair very difficult as the many small but authorized vendors aren't set up for this, the language barrier adds heavily to the issue, and finding an English speaking official Samsung office is quite difficult.
I will monitor the forum to see if a fix arrives before my software update.
Thanks everyone!
Same problem here. When this happen for me the mobile network disconnects, I am thinking that it may be some problem with the mobile network card...
When connected to wifi this is not visible although i might get the usb message.
But on 3g i loose all connection sometimes only for a second but sometimes for up to a couple of minutes...

Update
I wanted to add some more information...
I happened to remove my carrier's SIM a week ago and the "USB device disconnect" error continues at the same rate.
I guess my next question is how do you contact Samsung support?
Do they have a Tablet support phone number?
I don't care which country the support line is located within, as long as it's English-speaker focused.
bump
very annoying to lose mobile network all the time
I changed Galaxy Tab 7.7 (3G Version) three times, all three tablets had same problem.... any idea to fix it?
I think the problem gets worse if the tablets not been rebooted for a while.
But after reboot I think mine is a bit more stable.
How is it for the rest of you?
---------- Post added at 10:50 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:49 PM ----------
I also find it weird that you have the same problem with three tablets, but at the same time it seems that very few of us are affected???
I called Samsung and they said they never have complaints on this issue.... anyway, i got three devices from different stores have the same problem.. I think the issue is the rom. That problem hopefully can be solved after ICS upgrade...
Same problem; not so often but it happens once in a while.
I don't know if it is causing the instability that I have noticed with this device but it is kinda weird.
Do you have micro SD card plugged into the device? I read some other forums and some people removed the micro SD card, the issue resolved afterward.
I just removed the micro SD card, I will let you guys know if the issue can be fixed or not soon...

Solved
I think all this happens because of Kies software. It's a monster, I will never use it any more. Even uninstlling may not help. Better use MobilEdit instead.
Anyway, I found solution in registry. So, try this:
Before starting, disconnect all usb devices from PC
1. Open Windows registry editor
2. Open key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Enum\USB
3. Press CTRL+F and search in data value your device name (egz. Samsung)
4. Delete all key branches with name started: Vid_*** where your device will be found (You may have to enable permissions first).
Reconnect device. That's all
i have the same 'problem' but..., never used Kies software
Anyway, solution is in the registry. Evidently some usb drivers are conflicting.
Deleting those Vid_*** keys simply resets usb drivers on particular port.
You can check your phone on another computer without driver

I don't see how this has anything to do with the problem.
The USB device issue is happening on the tablet, not on the PC. How does removing USB drivers from my PC fix the tablet issue?

Same problem with GSM version. Could someone try log at the logs when/after it have happend? Dmesg and logcat. Will also try to do it myself.
same issue here. Never used kies before. I'm not sure if it has something to do with interfering gadgets near the tab.
Strange thing some (or most) people dont notice that bug(?). I tried several 7.7's now and can confirm that this looks like rom issue as every 7.7 has that problem. It really annoys me, escpecially combined with the battery status screen-on bug. When battery is lower than 10% screen turns on like every 2 minutes or so... Good thing to save remaining battery
Oh and I never used Kies too. Didn't even install it yet.
Having issues with Heimdall, and am afraid to go off the beaten path.
I have run the Command Prompt and typed in the jar. I hit Enter and am shown the Heimdall window within seconds, everything goes accordingly, except the 'Zadig' window had not appeared. Heimdall indicates the SGS4G is 'Connected'. Thinking I am good to go, i try to 'Flash' my SGS4G inside Download Mode, but am told the device is not recognized, and Heimdall aborts.
After aborting I am finally shown the Zadig window, however 'Options>List All Devices' DOES NOT YIELD the 'Samsung USB Composite Device' listing, instead am shown 'Gadget Serial'. My Windows 7 (64 bit) has never seen the SGS4G before, so there should not be any drivers that require any removal.
I am concerned as to whether or not i should continue installing drivers for 'Gadget Serial', instead of what should be shown---the 'Samsung USB Composite Device'.
Plz help.
Try different USB ports or a different USB cable. Try all possible combinations, even trying on a different computer.
Gadget serial is good.

I went ahead with Gadget Serial, and it did work. There was no way i could get that 'Samsung USB Composite' to appear, so i went ahead and it worked
Only problem I am having now with stock, is connecting to my Google Account. I cannot get inside the Google Play Store without it. I am receiving the "can't establish a reliable connection to the server" message. Fixing it seems to be a root manner, but the goal of Heimdall was to get back to stock. Are there workarounds? What could be the cause of this? I have signed in several times now, and have had no luck getting in. When flashing, i flashed without bootloaders first, then flashed with bootloaders afterward to be safe. Aside from the Gadget Serial i had to use, i followed Lumin30's guide to a tee. :crying:
Something worth noting (but may be completely irrelevant), my Tmobile service is being used on another SIM card inside a separate phone. The SIM card in this particular SGS4G is no longer valid, but i keep it in the phone to stop the 'insert SIM card' messages from appearing.
Is the time and date correct? When my oldest son figured out that he can advance the clock to skip wait times on games and it gets too far out of sync. It wouldn't connect through the wifi.
I went with no SIM card. Works for me. Besides not automatically updating time/date, works fine.

I had to put in the time and date manually, but it made no difference in connection to the account. I even tried taking out the SIM card to see if it had any effect on my connection, but it didn't.
I actually figured it out, and it was really simple. Under 'Accounts And Sync', i had accidentally turned off 'Background Data' and 'Auto-Sync'. After re-enabling those, i was allowed to connect to my account, lmao!! I am a very happy camper right now :]

When you say that you tried force installing the drivers and came close but nothing, what do you mean "came close" exactly?
Do you have the driver install .exe to install them? When you install them, does it say they were successfully installed but you still get nothing? If so, you may have to manually configure the driver through device manager. I've had to do this with a couple of tablets to get PC to recognize the device while in fastboot.

It's hard to believe that the drivers haven't been stored/posted somewhere else by someone using some kind of online file sharing site or forum, even if they weren't kept by the manufacturer.
I looked up the specs for your device, the specs say that you have an Amlogic Cortex A9 CPU architecture, have you tried drivers for other devices that use Amlogic Cortex A9 processor?
Also, when in device manager, try selecting the device on the list then right click then select "properties" then select the "details" tab then click on the drop down menu under "property" that shows "device description" by default then select "hardware IDs", write down the ID values, it will be more than one line of ID codes, then do some Google searches to find drivers for those ID codes? Sometimes that will find drivers that work for those hardware IDs, even if the drivers weren't specifically built or offered by the manufacturer of your hardware. Sometimes installing a driver that matches the hardware ID gets that particular hardware ID to work and gets it recognized by the system but then the system detects another "layer" of hardware with its own hardware ID that also needs a driver. Sometimes, if you go layer by layer installing drivers for each new hardware ID that gets exposed by the last driver that you installed, you can eventually get to where each "layer" is recognized, if you are lucky enough to find drivers for each hardware ID layer, you get to where the device is completely recognized correctly. I've done this before to get hardware recognized when I had nothing to go by to identify the device or component.

I know it's frustrating, I can't stand the crap that comes with messing with Chinese devices. You asked, I posted everything I could think of.
Also, I wouldn't brag about changing a blacklisted IMEI and cracking software here at XDA. That kind of thing isn't tolerated here because it's illegal in most places. Guys that do that kind of thing around here get banned from the site.

Hi there.
Please could someone suggest how I can migrate all the data from a Galaxy S5 with a broken screen over to a new Galaxy S5 which is the identical model.
The broken phone is not locked and internally is working normally but after being dropped I think the LCD has gone so badly that I cannot make out anything on the screen. It still seems to respond to any touch input OK.
If I could see it I would have simply used Samsung Smartswitch which is installed on both phones to transfer everything. However, without being able to see the screen I can’t find it in the apps to open it.
If I could remotely get the phones desktop up on my PC maybe I could open the app from there. With Smartswitch open on both phones I could see on the new phone where to tap on the old on to make it start the transfer.
Does anyone have any suggestions how I can either open the app remotely or maybe suggest another way to move everything across.

If you have or can get USB debugging enabled on the device, this tool should work well for you.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2786395
If you never personally enabled USB debugging in the system settings on your device, then it isn't enabled, which means you'll have to get it enabled somehow. There are few ways to get it enabled even with the broken screen, but it very much depends on exactly which model number your S5 is. Look in system settings>about phone>device info>model number or system settings>about phone>hardware info>model number to find your model number, or you can remove the back cover and look behind your battery to find the model number.
I'll try to help as much as your device will allow me.
But first, tell me exactly what kind of data you want to transfer.
Do you mean the usual user data such as pictures and etc..?
Or do you also mean the user settings, info for their various logins/accounts, banking info and deeper more personal or even system info?
Does the user have an active Samung account with the broken device registered in their account? If so, you can try transferring via their Samsung account.

Thanks for replying Droidriven.
The exact model number is SM-G900F.
Just to clarify, it is my brothers phone that is broken and he and I both have the same model. The new phone is also the same model which has been ordered but has not arrived yet. It should arrive either this morning or Monday.
However, for the moment I can at least try things out on my phone first. On my phone USB Debugging is off by default so I am sure it has not been enabled.
As I said previouly, the touch screen seems to respond because I can still answer calls simply by knowing where to swipe. I know where the apps button is on the home screen but obviously I cannot scroll through the apps to find the settings icon.
I am hoping to transfer as much as I can including apps and user settings, texts, etc.
My brother has not registered for a Samsung account.

To enable USB debugging, you can try using one phone as a guide to go through the settings menu. On the broken phone, using the working phone side by side while copying the exact motions and touchs try navigating to system settings>about phone>software info>build number(or wherever build number is located in your device settings, it varies), tap 7-10 times really quickly on the spot where build number is located on the list, if you get it right, you'll enable developer options, from there, using the other phone as a guide, go to system settings>developer options>USB debugging and enable it.
Or, try this tool to get USB debugging enabled while in download mode, and then use Odin to flash TWRP custom recovery instead of the stock firmware as described in the guide, you don't need to flash the firmware, just TWRP if you choose to do so while you are at it, TWRP can be used to backup and transfer the data but involves flashing the other device with TWRP also.

Once you get USB debugging enabled there are options:
1) You can use the tool I linked you earlier.
2) You can use adb to backup the data that you want to keep then use adb to transfer the data to the new device, adb works through a command terminal on PC and requires no touch input, you can do everything by command line if you find/know the correct commands to do what you need, as described in the link below, but you can ignore the stuff about unlocking your bootloader.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-nexus/general/guide-phone-backup-unlock-root-t1420351
3) You can flash TWRP custom recovery via Odin and then use TWRP to backup the data that you want to save and then flash TWRP on the device the data is to be transferred to then use TWRP on that device to restore all of the data that you saved onto the new device, if the device that is being replaced via warranty is the exact same device and will be used by the same person, you can completely backup everything on the device and then completely restore all of it on the new device. Just verify that your bootloader is not locked before you flash TWRP, it won't work with a locked bootloader.
4) You can try using Samsung Smartswitch on PC.
Those are just the options I can think of off the top of my head, there may be some other ways, it's just a matter of what you are comfortable with or not.
If you are comfortable with one of these options, I'll try to help you through whatever you need or don't understand. If you choose the stuff that involves flashing the device(s), I need to check some specifics about your device(s) before you do so and I need to be certain you understand how the flash/backup/restore process works in order to make sure that nothing gets messed up or lost/wiped during the process.

Thank you so much Droidriven. The new phone arrived this morning and your idea of using smartswitch from my windiws PC did the trick.
I only had to touch once on the broken phone to trigger the backup to my PC which worked a treat. After that everything else was plain sailing and the new phone is all set up with all the data intact.

Good to go, glad to help.
I thought it might, I just wasn't sure about whether USB debugging was required by SmartSwitch, I have never needed to use SmartSwitch so I'm not familiar with its ins and outs.

No, USB debugging isn't required on smartswitch.
My brother is like a kid with a new toy now that he has his phone back with all his stuff restored and working.
Thank you again.
