Sense 4.0 - Thunderbolt General

By now we all are very exited for ics which will be coming out any day but we all know about the ics update being sense 3.6. Its still good but tbh when I found out I was a little disappointed that we are not getting sense 4.0. Does anybody know that when we do get the update if any of the devs will be able to make a ROM with sense 4.0 or it will just be that we never get sense 4.0 in general

If I remember correctly somebody on the infected rom site hinted about ics with sense 4.0 is a WIP. Or they are looking into it I can't exactly remember what was posted.

since the rezound doesnt have native sense4 (and is HD res) and the inc 4g's is qHD, odds are any ports will not be based on either
from my end ill just take a stab at fixing data on our existing wvga sense4 roms from similar phones

As most user's here have rooted phones, I see no reason to be disappointed. If you want ICS, it will be as simple as flashing CM9.
Most of us don't give a F about stock sense based carrier rom. Which is usually 6-8months behind the current development revision. But that is why we are on XDA and thanks to CM-Team 4.x branch would be CM9. But I can tell you that it will be ported unofficially by 5-6months before HTC/TMo even if they had plans for it.

Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
First off. You need good grammar and spelling, no more of the abbreviating stuff. Second off there is no sure fire way to "port a Rom" you will have to go to chef central on here and read for hours then compile your own cm7 build. Once you can do that you can work off that.

There is a couple stickies in android chef central that you can take a look through to get yourself familiarized with whats necessary to get started. I would definatly recommend setting up android kitchen on ubuntu if its possible for ya.

lol the DHD and Desire Z?
well first and most noticeable is that the Desire Z (Tmobile G2) has a hardware keyboard. the next thing, is that the screen is wayyy smaller than that of the DHD. then there are the more inner things. the Desire Z has a 800 MHz CPU, while DHD sports a 1 GHz (like us). and also, the Desire Z has very little RAM, can't remember off the top of my head, but it's a lot less than the DHD or the MT4G.
but while the devices are different, it's still mildly easy to port a Desire Z ROM to the MT4G...

Mildly? The first ROM i ever ported was a MexdroidMod version using DSIXDA's Kitchen. It took like 20 minutes. I had an issue with the keyboard and dropped a gingerbread keyboard apk in to fix it. That was the ONLY issue I ran into.

no problems running sense 3.6 on my rezound at all and so far, 3.6 seems ok on the bolt considering its a stock rom.
my rezound also runs fine on 3.6
2 reasons why HTC will not update bolt or rezound to sense 4.0, 1... To make you buy a new phone with upgraded software and 2... Everyone would see the Rezound is still Superior to Inc 4g if it was running same software.

No, the Inspire isn't dual core.
Basically its AT&T's mock version of the Thunderbolt.

They probably did it for marketing reasons. Hype up the newer phone to make people upgrade without them knowing its very close to what they already have. All about the money these days. HTC has a history of releasing 10+ phones at the same time and some if not all are pretty much the same phone. They just have different names, slightly different bodies, etc.
Granted these three phones were not released at the same time but pretty close.

That is true. The phones they make for multiple carriers tend to be that way. Its like they dont want consumers knowing their phone is the same as one for a different carrier. Samsung is smart enough to keep the same phone and make it work on all the carriers.

Is the resize issue really gonna be bad, cause the htc one's screen size is not that far off from ours i really dont see that as a big issue, maybe the keyboard might be an issue and a few other minor things but i dont think it will be like making sense 5 work on a wildfire or something similar to that size!!!!

I realize that. It was actually $574 shipped through them. Once I sell this phone I'll make up most of that. I'm sure for the people who buy on contract a way will be found to by pass the block on htcdev once it goes into effect. This forum is awesome for that.
