We need work done on aopk - Captivate General

We need work done on aopk asap its like dead don't all want a good rom well I vote for aopk they said on there news that the phone's they got up is a daily driver well are is to They all ready got jb on some phones aopk jb and a few phone that is not up are's is not up on the list for cappy this is a big issue because some of us don't like some of the rom,s you can't do a lot like you can on aopk am just saying it would be grate if some one can help the aopk team to fix us up I use my cappy
Every day as daily driver music movies phone web and other stuff your telling the world that the cappy sucks just like sidekick 4g and they still don't have cm on there pages having aopk as your daily its so stable and the cappy super good not only that cm died along time ago when they did ics because on cm7 you could do a lot with your phone now you can't I say aopk wins by far

And I don't care (personally) about the bt issue. But man would it be great to get ICS on my infuse instead of this half ICS I get from Galnet

There are kernel issues going to ICS, and being limited on devs isn't helping. Just be patient, its being worked on, no ETA's tho.
Ha!, im aware of the fact the infuse is a finicky device. i was just wondering if there was any hope for full ICS on our device (love the galnet miui ics but its just not doin it al the way for me) even noeing theres some work on it gives me hope. some day i hope to be a develpoer so i can help out misfortuned devices like this one
Theres hope....we have Linux....

Repetitive Question but who has the best Gingerbread ROM?

I only ask this because I do not have a Skyrocket. My friend does, I rooted it a while back and now he said his ROM is giving him problems. I would normally flash and mess around with the ROM to see how it responds, but like I said I dont have one. I know ICS is fairly new so I dont want that. I need a stable, fast, good battery Gingerbread ROM. I will look in the dev section and do what i normally do, check options, and the last few pages of the thread, but any referrals are greatly appreciated without the normal hate. I will be going to his house prob thursday to hook him up, esp with the throttle trick as well
Quickwiz is probably one of the quickest roms IMO

id say sky ics on gb is very stable it was daily driver for a good while i highly recommend it
Sky and quickwiz looks good, i think he had buioncy. He had it for months and then it went to ****, im thinking he downloaded something bad.

NexusMod 4 was my daily driver from the first day I got my skyrocket. It with faux's kernel was amazing.

I did not get a chance to flash a lot of different roms on GB mainly because I started late in the game on my skyrocket. But, I loved Mod's Stock MOD 2.
*edit*
Please excuse my friend who I will now refer to as "asslick" for the rude post he made under my nic a moment ago.
He has an uncontrollable urge to be an asslick from time to time

For a noob(i mean this is the best way) cm9 may be a bit much, I'd say either embryo or nexus mod. Or, if you feeling crazy, sky.

RE: Best ROM
True enough, they are all great! but for a noob who flashed all the roms the least buggiest so far is SKY ICS--- 4.2D-10 for me anyways.
Again there are different flavors to choose from and it also depends on what you use on your phone. Some bugs may show up days later.

All these guys are right cause there really is no right or wrong answer to your question. When it comes to custom roms its all about personal preference. What someone else really loves you may find out you don't like. So my advice is become a flashaholic like most of us here are and start flashing until you find that perfect custom rom that fits your needs and wants. Just remember to make a backup of your current rom before you start flashing anything that way you can always go back to what you have now. Oh and just so you will know design gears is about to release a new ics leak for the skyrocket soon according to his twitter account so you may want to wait and see what that is all about and the I'm sure plenty of custom roms will be based off of it soon as well... happy flashing...

It would probably be better to be more specific. A better question would be "which are roms are the most stable" or "which roms are the fastest" or maybe "Which rom has the most features?"
I personally am also trying to decide which rom to go with. I have a friend who owns a Skyrocket and he wants me to root the phone then flash a custom rom, so I'm looking into this. I think I'll probably flash Nexus Mod just because it looks like AOSP. Like many others, it has carrier IQ disabled and has been debloated.

+1 to sky ics for stability (iv flashed the aosp apps patch) it was giving me fc's on other roms but none on this one
nexusmod ics was good but the rom seems to start facing issues after a week of use (might be user error but others were also experiencing this) and also the rom has no further development as MOD has been bricked and has also moved to cm9.
AOKP - great rom that has just surfaced with some solid devs at work still has a few minor issues but this one will become a gem
cm9 - same as above, great dev support but it still has a few minor kinks to be worked out
The above post is right especially about cm and aokp
CM9 Skyrocket
The newish Slim ICS ROM is pretty good too. Gives you some AOSP apps and seems pretty stable and super snappy for me so far. But as others have said, just look at some of the ones with higher traffic and more recent posts and see what you like. Embryo is a nice one i you want a more stock exoerience. Dev is super responsive too. With the new leak and impending (hopefully) official release, they'll all be rebased anyway. TiBu Pro and nandroid are your friends.

ROM battle: AOKP vs BEAM ROM

Which is best and why? Enter your experience and reviews please.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk 2
We cannot justify that the Rom x is better than the Rom y, it depends on our own taste and way of using it.. sense our ICS base ROM's are under development as of this time,
and most of all we just need to provide them some log's in every issue we encounter so that they can work on it, in that way we can have a better ICS as ROM builds progress.. what we can do is to give thanks to our great dev's who work hard to give us the ICS,
but base on my experience i never encounter any issue in AOKP, specially on the latest build
Beam hands down. Smoother faster and better battery life. I think so anyways . But both are awesome!

Let's see, how's that phrase go again... Oh yea...
It's all a matter of opinion, and my opinion is the only one that matters... to me...
Everyone has a favorite, for whatever reason, but their reasons may not be the next persons. Personally, haven't tried Beam, and no offense to whoever the dev is for it, but I don't plan to. I'm happy with AOKP, and I'll keep updating it (in fact I need to download the latest) but other than that, i'm done messing with this phone...

I was going to do something like this thread but for MIUI vs cMIUI. Then I thought that people would come telling that it's a personal thing, every ROM is great, they are all smooth and fast... and stuff like that. I think that the OP was asking for more than the general description. What really is it that made you choose that ROM over the other?
My choice here would be AOKP. I have used Team Acid's ROMs since forever, back in the Froyo days when ICBINB and Audiophiles were all over the place. I trust their work and it fits my personality. Constant support and never had an unsolved issue. My dad has been using Valhalla Black since it came out, I don't remember when. He thinks that it's the ultimate thing, still. So, that's enough proof that their work is awesome. Doesn't mean I don't like other development. I have used every ROM, mod and kernel here. Just my preference. Of course, AOKP is smooth, fast, stable, simple, no confusing apps (normal launcher), doesn't take much time to set up to my preferences and it has constant support and updates. But then again, every other ROM has it too. It's very hard to describe the choice, but I can't find other way to explain it.
No disrespect to other devs here. I know Erik, Thomas, Dao, Solrac, Anton and the others do an excellent job. In fact, I'm currently on cMIUI, not AOKP. But I have tried all other's and it's very hard to decided with which one to stay with.
Beam if you want speed and smoothness
aokp if you want customization

JB keyboard for gingerbread?

Hey guys...so, I was recently given a glacier with a cracked screen that I repaired. I tried a couple JB Roman but unfortunately as of right now no one is really doing a lot of development for this old device just a bunch of ports with very little effort.toward bug fixes.
I decided to install the most supported rom I could find which turned out to be virtuous unity. Sense 3.0 android 2.3.4
I'm very happy with the rom. So far it is very fast and stable and does almost everything I want it to do.
My one major gripe is the keyboard. I got very used to the JB keyboard from a past phone of mine and nothing I've tried really matches up.
Is there some way I can install the JB keyboard on this old rom?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

They have jellybean and ICS keyboard in the play store. Plus gingerbread stock keyboard. Just a quick glance they have official evervolve and unofficial slimbeam both 4.3. Awesome did some amazing roms. To say there isn't much development I think is not fair. For such a phone to be so old and only one carrier(in the USA) and the carrier is the least popular of the four hoursmen I think says a lot

Little effort towards bug fixes? Are you kidding me? Devs like Elgin, coderzs and albinoman887 are ripping their hair out trying to fix some bugs. It's not very nice of you to say that's there's little effort involved. Try fixing them yourself and you'll find out why it's so hard.

Sorry about that, I didn't mean to insult anyone. Fro. What I could see it didn't seem like the roms that were being ported were getting a lot of attention after that. Coderz has been porting a ton of roms which I appreciate but I didn't think he was really focusing on making any of them daily driver stable.
The phone is super old and I'm just glad that anyone is doing anything with it at all.
Notori0us, I say that you're building a 4.3 and it looks like from your thread that you're planning on sticking with it and working the bugs out which I'm super pumped about.
Sorry to anyone that is working hard on making a stable newer rom for this old phone that I might have offended, I just haven't seen it yet and the threads I've read are suggesting using older roms.
And thanks for the info about the jellybean keyboard in the market, I had no idea it was that simple.

Lol I was porting a 4.3 cyanogenmod but albinoman887 put out a pretty good one already so there's no point.
I'd you find any rom on the desire hd, s, z or some other phone with the same screen size just pm me I'll try. Also I have a another 4.2.2 aosp rom ported. Just need testers.
Also what bugs exactly are you talking about, you should tell the Devs about it and try to troubleshoot it.

Haha, ok, I'll take a look at albinoman887's thread and see how active it is.
Thanks for the offer! I'm actually really happy with the Rom I've got right now just trying out a bunch of different keyboards.
I can't remember all the bugs I ran across, one of them was that the screen would continually flash even though the phone was off.
Anyway, thanks again for your help/offer, I really do appreciate it!
