New Verizon Customer in a US Cellular - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Ok I just started service with Verizon. The market I'm in a a dominated by US Cellular. Another Local wireless Chariton Valley is partnering with Verizon to bring 4G LTE in the area. The lady told me the Verizon tower is up and broadcasting a 3G signal but 4G is still in the works. I'm still roaming on someone else. How can I get my 4g phone to pick up that Verizon tower. Verizon was no help. They tried pushing a PRL update and that increased roaming speeds but still no Verizon. I'm on the GS3 btw.

So you have 1x on your phone? If your status bar shows 3G you have it.

No my status bar only shows 1x and in the phone info it shows me roaming and I'm on a extended network. There has to be a way for me to hit that new verizon tower and not roam off the us cell or sprint tower. The lady said her boyfriend is a truck driver and has Verizon. He came home and update his phone and got the 3G icon. I know updating is different with 4g sims but is there a way? A different prl maybe

4G phones usually get auto updates. Do NOT *228 a 4G phone. I'll check into it and get back to you with specifics.
You could pull the battery then pull the sim then reinsert and reboot.

Well I've come to find that I'm roaming on US Cellular all the time. I've tried taking the sim out, rebooting, powering off and then reinserting the sim to see if it will pick up the verzion 3g signal but still no luck. Maybe a prl would help?

In a 4G area, but stuck on 2G. Phone is useless. Any ideas?

I've already rebooted, removed battery/sim, tried to switch network modes, etc. I can't get it to connect to 4g and I'm in a "4g very good" area. I contacted tmobile chat and they are not sure what is happening and suggest I swap for a different phone. Really? Is this a common problem?
Maybe you can check out one of the many threads concerning data issues instead of making a new one.

You probably got the wrong sensation. The one without the 1700 UMTS band

Where do I find this information?
Assuming you purchased the Sensation from T-Mobile it shoudl work as long as they placed a 4G capable SIM in your phone. Without it you won't be able to receive 4G service.
Is there a way to tell if I received a 4G capable sim? I ordered online, so I just got it in the mail today.
I went in today and Tmobile swapped out my sim card for a new one - I get the same issue to. And I was advsd they are not 4g cards - just updated cards

Did the new sim fix the problem?

My issue with 4g in Texas. Seems like many others are having data outages as well and not just with the S4G.
The guy on chat said there are currently no 4G outages in my area.

Chat dont know sh!t. I went through the same song and dance. Call up customer care or 611 on your phone and see if you get an automated response regarding data outages.

Where they able to replicate your issue on any of the handsets at the TMobile store? If its a coverage issue all of the phones at the store should experience the same problem. Unless it's something specifically wrong with your phone.
You tried switching the network to CDMA only? That should not let your phone connect to 2g

Well guys, I went down to a t-mobile store and guess what?
4g isn't up yet in my area. They are currently working on it.
So that's kinda messed up...I mean, the coverage chart shows 4g up and running in my area already. I drove to the city next to mine (10 miles), and sure enough, 4G pops up.
the coverage map in green is not for 3G or 4G. its for the 2G network. try locking it on WCDMA ONLY if you don't get a signal you are outside of the 4G coverage area. I just use WiFi. what city is this?
I know the coverage map in green is voice, the purple/pink map is for 4g. That map shows my area covered under "4g very good."
Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't it go to 3G if you don't have 4G? And if you don't have 3G it goes to 2G(EDGE)?

Yes. But if your area has been updated to just hspa+ then if you leave that it'll go to edge

So basically, on a 4G phone you can't get 3G?
Let's say a 3G phone enters that area, it'll get 3G right?
From what I understand, 4g is basically 3g, so if you don't get 4g, you go to 2g.

Question about showing 3G/4G/LTE

i just got my Galaxy S II LTE from Rogers Store yesterday.
the guy was showing me the new phone, and i did show LTE display beside the signal bar. but today it showing up 3G or 4G only, even i was at the Rogers store it still showing 4G not LTE.
All the LTE phone in the Rogers store showing LTE on the top of the screen.
How come my is showing 3G/4G even in the store ?
is it something about rooting the phone ?
rooting will not keep it off lte. sounds like your account/sim is not provisioned properly for lte.
yup, you have to call rogers to tell them you want LTE on your data plan. My 6gbs of regular data was moved to 6gbs of LTE data after i called them. They didnt charge me anything extra so maybe you can do the same.
Make sure that you have a Lte sim card

Verizon 4G LTE Not Working..

I just got 4G LTE turned on in my area and I can't seem to get 4G to toggle on.. It's only showing a 3G signal. I tried using a 4G toggle app using device info to change it to LTE only, but no dice. I'm sitting next to my friend with a 4G signal, so I know it should work. Can anyone offer any assistance?

Pretty much in the same situation here except my area has had 4G for months now. I've personally tested a Razr and a Bionic in multiple locations nearby with fantastic speeds and was pretty excited to have LTE on my new phone but haven't been able to hold onto a 4G signal for more than a minute or two.
Since this is my first 4G phone it's been recommended that I call Verizon and make sure my account is setup correctly for it. If that doesn't work, the main Verizon store in my area has full LTE coverage so I'll bring it there this weekend and try to swap out with a new phone.

[Q] Can't get LTE on Tmobile. Any solutions?

Was hoping for some help on getting LTE on Tmob.
Running Cyanogenmod 10.1.2.
Using fast.t-mobile.com APN
Have tried the following radios:
UCMC1
UXUMA7
MUGMC5
MUGLH2
MUGLCA
The phone is registered on Edge. It will pick up the LTE signal, and will show 4g for about 5 seconds with 4 bars of signal, then 4g with 3 bars of signal for another 20 seconds. After that it will go back to Edge. While it shows 4g, in the status menu/mobile network type it says "LTE:13". When it is briefly connected to LTE I get no data.
I'm at a loss. It seems to connect to the network but will not stay connected. Has anyone else had this problem? Any solutions? Called T-mobile and they were of no assistance.
BUMP!! would love an answer or a link if this exist already.

Im in the exact same boat. The Tmobile people said that the signals run on different bands, and therefore ATT phones won't always pick the best LTE signals as a result.
Hey, so there's definitely a thread on this lol. Also I'm on tmobile & I can confirm that LTE works. I'm on UCMC1 and it's works on every ATT ROM or stock based ROM I've thrown at it. By setting the fast APN. Check my pic attached.
You know if LTE is available where you are?

[Q] I lost LTE on AT&T

I was on a trip recently and I turned off LTE through quick tile because the place I was staying at did not have LTE. Now, I seem to be stuck on HSPA.
I reset network settings and even did a complete wipe of everything and I am still stuck on 3G. I have Preferred network type set to LTE (recommended). I am using the ATT LTE access point (screenshot attached).
Any ideas? Any way to check if it's hardware of software? I am running 44S.
I used to have LTE here and my gf's iPhone 6 has LTE in the same location.

I'd think the only reason it'd be hardware is if something went belly up. Seems doubtful to me as bard hardware is fairly rare. More likely software. A few times I've lost LTE after changing out my sim card, and only the phone company doing some type of reset has 'fixed' it. Not often, but enough to be a PITA.

Add "hipri" under APN Type, save, reboot & see if that helps. :fingers-crossed:
Put your sim in your gf iPhone and let it get an Att signal then put the sim back in the opo that's what I did with my phone and it worked

I tried that. I also put my sim in other OPO and it got LTE. I get LTE with my sim card on OPO thats usually on t-mobile (but his sim did not get LTE on my phone). I also tried my SIM in a nexus 5 and that got LTE as well.
Im fairly sure its hardware failure
