Hello,
I would like to know if anyone knows what modification needs to be edited on the samsungcamera.apk so you can record or take pictures while on a call. Any information will be helpful. Thank you

Thanks for the hookup with the coding. I'd never have figured that out on my own

Running stock ROM but there was no /csc folder under /system. I downloaded the file above and created a folder but no luck.
I found a feature xml file under /system/etc/ and added the line but still no luck. :/

Yeah... I know it's something simple. I'm trying to edit the .png files but 7zip won't update what I've done when I'm finished. Plus I'm a hell of a lot more confident in others here than I am myself. I can't just push the phone.apk from that theme, can I? That seems far too simple.
what rom are you running now? ill see what I can do.

Gumbo 1.5c Bare. I think that'll look really good with the DarkStar theme. I switched back to 1.5 just so I can use that theme. I love it!
Thanks, bro. I really appreciate it.
What would happen if I were to just push the phone.apk? It's just a bunch of .png & 9.png files...
I started to do the same thing awhile back but never quite finished. our dialer buttons were in htccontacts.apk if i remember right
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=614830 might help someone.
they are actually in both if you just change contacts then it changes the main dialer but if you go to enter in numbers while in a call then it is still stock to it needs to be both.
ok here ya go the dark star dialer just flash like any other update.

You're the man! Thanks bro!!!
not a problem I shouldnt have to tell to you to backup before flashing. let me know how it works.
Works like a charm! Can you explain what you did so I can start to figure this out for myself?
And post a screen shot as well.
Also -- will this work on Sense?
Oh, +1 for "knowing what you did". What files did you edit?
honestly I could have easly gone in PS and made them but there is an even easier was to do it.
1. downloaded the theme
2. unziped the theme file
3. unziped Phone.apk from theme
4. went into drawable folder.
5. used winrar to open (not unzip) stock Phone.apk and navigated to drawable folder.
6. selected dialer buttons in themes drawable folder
7. draged buttons into stock Phone.apk
repeat with HtcContacts.apk
ziped it all up signed it.
good to go.

Gotcha, and when you said to edit the stuff in the drawable folder -- I presume the actual files that were edited were in the drawable-480x320 folder and began with "phone_number_#_rest/press.png, right?"

It's fine -- I'm just trying to create a custom theme and sometimes don't know which files to actually edit, that's all. Do you know how to create a custom ROM at all -- or at least what all it entails? I know its a lot like creating a theme for the most part, but I'm not even sure where to begin the process.
Thanks for the how-to... That's going to help a whole lot!

no I havent gotten into actually cooking I honestly prefer to theme. I figure ill leave the cooking up to people smarter then me lol that have more time. that and I know that its a whole lot easier to cook if you run linux and I have no clue when it comes to linux.
im more than happy to help with anything theme wise though. Just let me know what you need.
I tried to bake my own rom, but ti didn't work. My question is, can I just push the apk. to the phone? Or is it tied to possibly to something else and will not work?
isn't the X10 based on 1.6?? I doubt it wud ever work on the 2.0, let alone the 2.1

of course it can work. the dump needs to be ported first, u can't just push .apk's.. they run on a highly customized framework that is all tied together and inter-related much like HTC sense.

Which is why I asked.
but, you should be able to pull most of the .pngs out of the x10 framework and port it into a theme for 2.0/2.1...
got a link to the x10 apk?

I would like to get theses png too... I search for the launcher png to make my own theme.
Do you know if they are available somewhere
Download the dump here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=658063&highlight=dump
Then extract the apks and open them in any archive manager (winrar etc) and look for PNGs in the res/drawable folder. Most system wide stuff is in /system/framework/framework-res.apk
EDIT: OK, my mistake
I downloaded the sources and not the rar file

Euhhh, I just downloaded 73Mb file of X10..
I think there is a mistake because once the file uncompressed I get this:
A directory: X10_Donut_100325_01
1 sub-dir: esheep_linux
1sub-dir: LINUX
1sub-dir: android
3 sub dir: external - kernel - system.
If I go under system, i get: core/mtd and there nothing but .c files
I think that was a wrong file a downloaded but I cannot find an other one.
Sorry, but I try my best ;-)
I found some apk but no launcher.apk.
Only launcher.odex and i could'nt unzip it.
For all the other applications, that's OK.
Hello, sorry to annoy you again with my questions...
1) I downloaded the framework and extract all.
I extracted all the files but:
SonyX10/system/app/Launcher.apk - CRC failed
Total errors: 1

OMG, i had tu unzip hundreds of files that worked pretty well and the only one I need is the only one that failed????

Can someone send the launcher.apk to me?
Here is the un-odexed X10 dump I have... Ready to be played with...

Also, here is an X10 theme for CM 5.0.6 that I have been working on...

Enjoy!
Thank you for both link that work pretty well. Thank a lot!
I found all I wanted except one thing: do you know where is the background of the "quick settings" widget?
The number one on the picture, the launcher was easy to find in the launcher.apk.

Good job on your theme!
In "framework-res.apk/res/layout" when I edit the "status_bar_expanded.xml",
even if I add one dot and delete it again and save the file, it doesn't work
anymore and it stucks on my bootanimation, and loops over and over.
I use "apk manager" for decompiling and compiling the framework-res.apk.
Does any one know what the problem is?
Thank you?

Hey
Do any know what @id/plmnLabel and @id/spnLabel refers to? Im speculating it has something to do with service provider.. Since the theme of framework is set to Black, the service provider text color is black as well, so ive made edits to
...Color=?textColorSecondary on both (removed Inverse) ive not tested this, maybe u have Kay?

Here is my "status_bar_expanded.xml"
I just want to change some colors. I did the same thing for other xmls like
"status_bar_latest_event_content.xml" and it works perfectly, but for that
one, it stucks on my bootanimation. when I compile the xml I get no error
but I don't know what the problem is.
For that 1.apk and 2.apk, no I didn't do that.
I'll try it and report back.

Honestly, I don't know what those "manifest" and "metainf" are, because I changed some xmls and I'd had no problem with them, So I thought that's the way to compile and decompile framework-res.apk.
Could you plz tell me what should I do? Thanks.

I thought u already have this covered because it sounded like you have no problem with other XML except this.
But if u have not heard of the two files/folder I have hightlighted chances are you don't have them in your newly compiled apk which will cause bootloop.
After compiling ur apk you should see that meta-inf folder is missing. U need to copy that from the original API, along with manifest.XML to the new apk.

Hi all. I'm attempting to edit the look of the phone.apk on the SGS4G (my original question as to if it's even possible is HERE). Like i said, i've never done this before so would someone be so kind as to walk me through what must be edited and with what tools? Thanks in advance!

The Xml file you posted actually contains binary data, not just plain text. I couldn't find the strings you posted, so I couldn't modify it.... I can show you the only readable data in the image attached.
You need to decompile the xml first to make edits to it.
