Sounds like a soft brick. Fortunately it is easily fixed. The simplest way is of of FB's oneclicks download here
Make sure to follow the prompts very carefully and you will be fine. First and foremost you will have to connect your phone in download mode. To achieve download mode: power down ( or just pull battery, but replace battery and cover before you proceed, because if the battery slips out during the restore you could be in bigger trouble) hold both the vol up and vol down while inserting the usb cable that is connected to your computer.

You should be on Gingerbread before flashing. if you weren't, that would explain the soft brick

Hi all,
My Samsung Galaxy phone is stuck on the Samsung boot up logo. I shut off the phone and it starts up again to the Samsung logo again. I am rooted but still had the stock rom and kernel.
I went to selections and wiped my cache and tried to format it like a new phone. The same thing still happens. I am not sure what else to do. Anyone know how to fix this?
Keep the instructions simple please, if you do know. (I'm a desperate noob)
Thanks for any help.
IF you ever did nandroid than just restore that otherwise.........
Hey first follow this steps to flash any rom. If you flash the rom properly than you can use any stock rom from dev section and use that.
OR
follow this step to go back to stock and it will unroot you.

Same Problem
My problem is that my Rogers SGSII LTE I727R, is stuck on the logo screen, which is flashing the boot screen. When I connect the USB (even after install of Kies and Odin), my PC does not see the device. I am really not sure what to do. I think I set the wrong phone ID when I installed recovery (I think I was supposed to use the T-Mobil SGSII setting), but I selected something else. I then tried to backup the existing ROM, and am now in this unending loop. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.
Follow these steps it will help you go back to stock. ANd reroot your phone.

Try a different USB port. Avoid rear ports and hubs.
OK, i will try that on a different computer, as I have tried all of the available ports on my laptop. Any other thoughts?

Have you uninstalled kies? If not uninstall it from your PC. Put your phone in download mode and see if Odin can see the phone.

Try another USB port or another computer. If you can get the logo you are in a boot loop, the most common form of a soft brick. If you can get into download mode you should be able to fix it.

Another thought is to try turning off firewall and antivirus when using Odin. I've never had my firewall or antivirus block Odin but I've heard it can happen...
Can you get into download mode? Hold the two volume buttons down, then plug the usb cable into your phone, then you should be in download mode.
I cannot get into download mode. I just keep getting the flashing boot screen, with the corresponding vibration.

What he said. Pull the battery and put it back in. Hold volume up/down and plug in USB. Continue holding volume buttons until you see download mode. Careful not to press the power button during this process.

Don't panic. If you're in a boot loop it's fixable. It's when you get nothing that you need to worry about a hard brick.
Try the button combo mentioned above to get into download mode. If that doesn't work, pull the battery again and try using just the volume down button button--I've heard people say this worked for them when they had a hard time.
If this doesn't get you into download mode, I guarantee you that a jig will work. You can buy one online or make one yourself for about 75 cents and a cut-up data cable (I had a car charger that I didn't need--car charges the phone through USB port, so I cut that one up). Always good to have a jig, at any rate...

Alright so I messed up my phone again, and I tried to Heimdall One-Click and it says "Uploading KERNEL KERNEL upload failed! Ending session..."
What exactly do I need to do from here?
All help is appreciated, thanks.
Do you have a JIG? I bought mine from ebay for a buck and it works.
Also even that download mode doesn't show up, as long as ODIN can see the COM port you can start flashing.
Another solution, would be using Heimdall one-click recovery with unbrickable mode, if you dare to open your phone and you are good at soldering.
Yeah dont do anything suggested above that involves taking your phone apart.
That is a alternate download mode. Click on the purple link in my signature, read the guide linked and then flash the one click I have. It will get you back to stock with root so you can flash any of the other roms for this device.

I'm guessing you haven't flashed back to stock before, use this guide to go back to stock
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21953878&postcount=2
Then you can go over to bhundven's One-Click Heimdall and flash AntonX's kernel, you can flash a custom ROM from there. Make sure to follow instructions, if you don't then there is a chance you're phone will be forever bricked.
Ok, i got it to work. But my phone is not being recognized as in download mode. It still says ""Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again". And yes I did pull the battery out and back in, then held down power up and down and plugged it into the usb. Any ideas? :\

Most of the time that is because of bad connection to the computer. Try a different cable. Heimdall is very finicky, you might try gremlin remover.

Try uninstalling the SAMSUNG/Android drivers, and restart the entire process. And this time try a different USB port, one that's barely used. Cause the port you might have plugged it in might be worn out.

ALL questions in General Section.
To answer you.. try wiping data & cache in CWM.
If you don't have CWM, then you did do something wrong cause you needed to have that prior to rooting.

Sorry for the delay, been busy. Try the instructions? Has nothing to do with recovery working. You need odin on your oc and kies ti install the drivers, if it wil go into download mode it can be flashed.
Agreed. Should still be a way to get into download mode, although you may have to use an alternate route. The most reliable method (without extra hardware) is to (once USB cable connected to PC):
Pull battery.
Reinsert battery.
Hold down both volume buttons and plug in the USB cable.
Voila!
