Hello, I have an AT&T HTC ONE X running AOKP Jellybean. I currently have 1.64gb of internal storage available on the phone and about 4gb on the "external" storage. The phone is claimed to have 16gb of total storage. I believe they just partition the card into two sections to create internal and external storage.
My music files account for exactly 1.55gb of storage on the external portion of the SD. I have been attempting to move that music into the 1.65gb of free space on the internal portion. I have been unable to do this. Most folders are read only and while I can use root explorer to move files into these folders, or create new ones, I am unable to get my syncing program to access the folders because they are technically read only. I have a program that syncs all my music files in the cloud so I can share multiple devices.
Some of the folders in the internal SD are not read only and I can actually move files into them, but for whatever reason, these same folders wont sync properly with my program. The program (foldersync) will see the folder and claim to be downloading music to the folder, but nothing appears. And other folders which are not read only, won't evcen appear in the selection list to choose from within the foldersync app. I've even tried storing the music in a non read only folder on the internal SD and creating a link to it thats on the external SD to trick the foldersync program. The trick works and everything syncs perfectly, but the amount of available storage on the EXTERNAL SD is affected when everything appears to be on the internal.
All I'm trying to do is sync some stuff to the internal SD with the foldersync application, can anyone tell me how to do this? Haha sorry for the wall of text!
Also, I thought about using Google Music but it appears that Google Music stores everything on the external SD and there are no options in the app to change it.

With the Evo, connected to my PC, selecting "Mount as disk drive," only the Micro SD card appears in Windows Explorer as a directory. I want and expect to see another directory for Internal Storage.
Had had the Incredible, where _both_ the SD card and Internal Storage appeared as two separate directories. I could see what was stored on ea.
I am under 300MB of memory of avail. space on the Internal - lots of posts about running out of app room in various forums - so curious what media and other data is there, what might be movable to SD card.
Got some further questions about how to copy data from an 8MB card to a 32MB card (just drag to PC and back?) as I just ordered one, and about how to tell certain apps where I want media recorded to (may simply not be an option w Camcorder and others), but mainly just want to understand how to view Internal storage from a directory on my PC when unit is docked. Thx!
i'm new to android so please bear with me.
i have a 32GB SD class 4 in my phone. it's been formatted so all it has is the lost.dir (i'm on a mac)
since there are no folders there - how do i gets apps to use it? where do i put music and other files? i have podcasts and other stuff i'd like to drag over but i'm not understanding how the different apps would see it.
i can move some apps to SD card but i think it just moves them to the internal SD card.
it seems that there are 2 SD cards in the phone but no way to differentiate between the 2.
also it sometimes takes forever for the gx2 to recognize the card, its kind of annoying. is having a class 10 better for this?
I use filemanager from the market and it recognizes my external as........"_externalSD" also allows me to transfer files between the two.

When you have your phone plugged in pull down the alert bar on the top of the screen and press the "USB Connection" option. It should ask you if you want to turn USB mode on and have a picture of an Android. This will allow you to mount your internal and external sd as if they were regular flash sticks. You can then copy whatever you want to them. I also like to use drop box in combination with Astro for moving things to and from the cloud.

1. G2x has the internal sd card partitioned into 2 parts (1 for OS & apps & other for storage & apps).
2. Sd card's class does help but it is not something important until you're running a high def video.
3. Use any file explorer app (File expert etc) for copying files from Internal SD Card to External SD Card.
4. Most of the app's setting menu gives you an option to physically select the storage destination folder i.e. external sd card.
Hope I helped.

Yes, just simply copy the entire FOLDER of the particular file to your External SD Card & if in future, if u download something directly from your phone then simply just copy/paste it from your using any file manager app.

so i have the phone connected to the computer and I see 2 No Name disks. That's fine. I put a folder called music at the root level of the 32GB card. Now I find that folder in File Expert and I go to play something and it says that file isn't supported. I tried Google Music and Doubletwist. Just mp3's from a CD. are there certain settings for android i need to know about? and do i need to go to File Expert to play this music everytime? Or should I be going through doubletwist on my mac and using it like itunes?
thanks you any help, i'm pretty clueless with this aspect of android right now, trying to catch up.
also both SD cards randomly unmount themselves. is there a reason for this or a way to prevent this?

Ok. After reading your problems, here are my suggestions:
1) Copy your 32 GB SD Card files on your computer.
2) Format your 32 GB card. Replace all files back in it.
3) Stop worrying about putting certain files (pics, music) in a root folder. Simply just put any files OR folders inside the Sd card.
4) When it comes to File sharing, think of Android in the same category as Windows.
I hope I helped.

The deal is that we only have 2GB of internal storage, which is where the camera defaults to. This can be filled very easy if one likes to take lots of pictures. There are a lot of ways around this, but the easiest for a non techie is to download a 3rd party camera app and set the storage to the external card. You could also swap mount points or try to symlink it as well.

I have a hard time understanding this, too. Settings>Storage tells me that I have only about 60 MB free in "USB Storage." It also tells me that I have 93 MB of "Pictures, Videos" there. The trouble is, I have no pictures or videos in USB storage. It's all on the external SD card. The camera saves to the external SD card, and all my music, photos, and videos are there, not in internal storage. It even tells me I have 3.4 GB of "Miscellaneous files" in USB storage, which is impossible. That 3.4 GB is actually what's on the external SD at the moment. It tells me that over 1 GB of apps are stored there, even though the apps actually there come to far less---maybe there's app data that's adding to the total.
The only time it becomes a problem is when I run NewsRob, which invariably tells me it doesn't have enough memory to work.

For pics and such, use Google drive, drop box or sky drive. Mine is set to upload over WiFi only. After my pics are up, I delete them from gallery. Also, make sure all music is on external sd . Then go to settings/storage erase SD card. This should clean up any uneccesary files or clutter. Last, move all possible apps to SD and clear all caches. FYI , if on any cm 10 variants don't clear the caches to fast or the phone will freeze for 20-40 secs. That is all

Well, I made an interesting discovery last night. I found that, even though I had set the PodKicker app to store podcasts on the external SD card, it had somehow reverted to internal USB memory, and had dumped a bunch of large files in there.
I also found that my Kindle app had deposited a bunch of files in internal USB memory. There's no way to tell Kindle to put them on the external card, but I supposedly only had a few books residing there. An examination of the kindle cache, however, disclosed almost two hundred, taking up a big chunk of memory. I deleted the whole directory, started Kindle, and let it re-download the few that I need. I think somewhere along the line I had to re-register the Kindle app, and it just left a bunch of old files there that it couldn't use anymore.
Between these two purges I freed up about 150 MB of internal USB storage.
150mb isn't much and will be eaten quickly.
a lot of apps install to the internal but load a bunch more on the external.
Camera ICS + is a good camera replacement that can save directly to the external SD.
Also, run ES File Explorer and use it's SD card analysis to see what is taking up space. I know that if you have your google photos synced, even just the thumbnails database file will be up to 1gb.
Move any Titanium or CWM backups to the external SD, but make sure you remember where they are when you go around deleting things.
I also found a trash can folder that was huge so I'm pretty sure that the internal SD card isn't fully freeing up memory when you delete things.
Also go to your App Manager and see which things are taking up a lot of space. I know that Google+, Gmail, Chrome, Facebook, Grooveshark and a few others take up a lot of space.
So I'm trying to move various apps/games onto the installed SD Card. I'm pretty sure the card itself is working, as photo's and videos are being saved there.
I go into app manager (or Storage, Internal, Used Space, Apps - makes no difference) and I select the app, choose storage. It lets me 'Change" Storage used :- Internal Storage to "SD Card". The progress bar whizzes across and completes. It even tells me the app is now installed on External Storage.
The problem is, the app isn't installed on the SD card, sometimes some folders are created, but they remain empty and the app is still installed on the internal memory. (I checked with a file manager)
I'm not sure what's going on, or if this is normal (short of making the card adoptable). I'm an Iphone user of many years, I finally joined the rebellion ! It's quiet possible I am doing something wrong or droid just hates me, but either way any help is appreciated.
Unfortunately, that's the way it works. It's not like A2SD which moved the whole thing.
