Location for Incoming notification sound file? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

So I feel like an idiot... I want Tasker to handle my SMS notifications and I want to use the 'Incoming' sound file as notification. The problem is I need to tell Tasker where the file is located. It is not in /system/media. Where else should I look?

Probably not, simply because Delivery Notification is sent to you as an SMS itself.
not sure if i got this right but let me try...
when you say "sms alert" does this mean the sound the xda makes when you receive an sms? if yes then the sound and notifications will allow you to change the sms sound for new text messages. or you can use mortring to customize the sms sound for each contact.
the delivery notification which sounds off when you send an sms is actually named "default". it's a wav file; you can alter the sound by overwriting it with another file. normally the default sound goes "blip" or something like that . if you have a wav file that goes...say "ok"; what you do is rename this wav file in your laptop to "default". you then copy and paste this on the windows folder of your xda. the screen will tell you something like "there is a file with a name "default"; do you wish to replace this file?"...or something like that. click ok and the default sound should be the wav file you want.
btw; if you've upgraded to wm2005 you can't overwrite the files. i used to change the default sounds in the xda with wav files i like. upon upgrading to wm2005 i found that i could no longer do this...something about the rom being write protected...
hope that helped...
I have a sound for new text messages horn.wav but I like to have another for notifications. In settings ---> Sounds and Notifications there you can make 2 different sound for MMS one for MMS notify and one for MMS New message. But only one for New SMS message :-(
Is it possible to change someting in the S100 software?
In a Nokia there is only a bib for notify and another for New SMS message

Robson, I did just what you suggested and that solved the annoying "blip"my phone's been making when receiving sms. But my main problem is that the Sounds and notification settings on my phone no longer work. No matter what alert tone I put my settings to ( i.e Text messages/Activesync/Incoming call..etc) The phone always reverts to the "Default" tone. Can you pleae help me with this...or point me to the right direction as to where I can find more answers to "sound and notification" problems. Thanks...Loids

Thanks, but that doesn't work, I already tried that...
However I just found out using a Reg editor that the Outgoing SMS/MMS sound is being overruled by the general notification sound. So now I changed the general sound, it is working
Where did you change the general notification sound?
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Notifications\Default

Mute or change "Whistle" sound on startup?

I can get to what should be the file to stop or change the Whistle sound on startup, but renaming it does not stop the sound, so it must also be elsewhere. The location is at /system/media//audio/notifications/ and the file name is S_Whistle.ogg.
Even when changed here id works. Where else is it located? Thoughts and help?

Disable the wireless charging sound?

The sound is "WirelessChargingStarted.ogg" in system/media/audio/ui but if you rename it, the sound doesn't go away. You simply get the default notification sound instead.
Edit: You can silence it by replacing it with an actual silent .ogg file (but not just a blank text file with an .ogg extension).
Nice suggestion. Thanks! I used this file below in case someone wants it.

How to customize whatsapp [conversation tone] ? #needhelp

Hello, everyone! Newbie here. So a lot of searcing on internet and file explorations,I can't find any way to change "conversation tone" in WhatsApp. I really like to iMessage incoming and outgoing conversation tones but I kinda not fan of use iPhone as my main phone. So I have been searching to change WhatsApp's original conversation tone to iMessage conversation tone. My Android phone is rooted and I guess I can switch/change this tone sounds in root explorer apps or something. I need your help to do this, please any information is golden for me. So,please help me !!!:crying::highfive:
I need this too. Did you find anything?
Method to change whatsaap tone
Launch WhatsApp from your Home screen.
Tap on the Settings tab. ...
Tap on the Notifications button.
Tap on the Sound button under the WhatsApp calling heading. ...
Tap on the sound you want to set as the ringtone.
Tap the Save button
I need this too. Changing the notification tone isn't what we want.
The thing is, when you chatting with someone, incoming messages doesn't trigger if you're in the chat, instead it sounds something when the message shows up.
It's kinda hard to explain, but at least, it's not notification tones, that's easy to customize.
I know what you mean guys. I have been looking for that answer for years. all we need is the path to the right folder so we can do it.
Anyone? Please, please, please.
