Imoseyon leankernel
Invisiblek v2
Both work on stock rom and are oc capable.
I'm desperately awaiting franco.kernel for the verizon variant of the s3... I love his kernel on the gnex
Can you link me to one of the kernels?

I'm more interested in underclocking for battery life. Will they do that as well?
Yeah they will. Down to .3 ghz i believe

Can either of these be installed as zip files using CWM on a rooted phone?

With apps like setcpu you can choose what ghz, high and low

Yes the kernel must support it and the one linked does, but you need to use an app to set speeds or set then in ramdisk.

I Can't change CPU frequency on CM7 nightly 179. When I open the max cpu frequency a box opens with max cpu frequency at the top and directly below is cancel, nowhere to input values. Anyone have any ideas please? I couldn't post in the nightly section as I aint got enough posts on here.
You have to flash a kernel that supports overclocking if you want to overclock.

False. Unless it changes in the last week or two, no it is not.

Ok I think I'll try the netarchy one and oc to 1.2 to see how it goes.

It depends in device I think. I remember you from Evo forums. CM kernal for Evo supported mild OC, thanks to Toast. But Nexus CM kernal hasn't OC. Maybe that is what you were remembering.

You are probably right. I thought I had tried it once I flashed cm7 but I may have already flashed netarchy. Not missing my EVO at all. The slightly smaller keyboard is taking some time to get used to though. Thanks for the clarification Matt.

Finally got build three to work properly. Is there a big difference in performance and battery life?

I installed it disregarding the warning and answer.
Any way to reverse it and remove off my phone?

Did you make a backup prior to installing? Otherwise the only way to remove it is to reflash your rom of choice.
ya i would gr and then re-rom your phone.
Cool thanks

You could try codename android 2.0 or nexus beam, they both have performance tweaks

Most kernels support uv (what use is ov? ), though people haven't experimented with it...
What do you plan to do?

Defiantely, they are very different...
Underclock is just running your processor at lower clock speed (than the one specified by Samsung's kernel) but at the voltage specified by Samsung...
There isn't much scope for underclock in fit, underclocking is useful on 1ghz+
Undervolt is running at normal or higher clock speeds (I.e. normal and oc usage), but at a lesser voltage than the value specified by Samsung...
Oc and uv tend to go hand in hand...keep performance high, and negating battery performance hit...
That's why I asked what's the purpose of over-volting
Why waste more battery?

This kernel has been outdated for some time not. Try kko.
Edit: or h0tcakez. There's tfq too but idk if that supports oc/uv

Hey dudes. Currently running liquid 2.7. Stock CM kernel. I was wondering if I could improve battery life with this ROM. I don't think I can tweak it now. But maybe if I flash another kernel such as lean kernel?
I was just wondering what others had setup.
Any input will be great!
Thanks in advance.
