USB problems

Hey. My captivate has been working beautifully with these new GB roms until about a week ago when my computer won't even recognize my phone. and all the phone shows that it charging but no notification about USB connection? ive tried different ports and reinstalling drivers all that good stuff and restarting my computer and turning on and off usb debugging and the cable still works with other devices so can anyone help?
Also can you tell me if samsung will replace my phone with a custom ROM on it? im thinking of doing this because i cant flash back to stock without the USB working!
Are you sure the cable is 100% functional? What other devices?
Try plugging it in to another computer as well

I have had that problem on a few gb roms too. Go into USB settings and change them to kies and then plug your phone into the computer using your USB cable. Just leave it plugged in for a few seconds, you don't have to wait for your phone to be detected. After unplugging the cable, restart your computer and phone. Once both are running again, go back into USB setting and change them back to USB storage and then plug your phone back into your computer, making sure you use a USB port directly connected to your motherboard. Works for me everytime.
Edit: If you suspect that your USB cable is not working, see if Odin will detect your phone in download mode. Don't flash anything, just see if it says connected in Odin.

it didnt work if i just go to samsung and give them the phone with the custom rom on it what would they do?
Download kies and see if your computer will detect your phone in kies mode. You could always get an SD card and put all the files on the card then move them to your internal SD. If you have a custom rom installed you can flash stock using cwm. Did you try connecting your phone in download mode to your computer running Odin??? If it doesn't detect it then your USB port is not working or your USB cable is broken. If it is working flash stock and start again. It could be a bad flash.
i have had the same problem a couple days ago, plugged in another captivate into my computer it recognized it. then plugged in my phone and everything was working fine again.
try plugging in anothe android phone running froyo or whatever version you have

Sounds like it could be, try plugging it into the back of the computer and see if that helps.

The USB drivers for download mode are in the bootloaders and has nothing to do with the USB drivers for the rom. Even if you had a bad flash and the USB portion of the rom was corrupt, your computer would still be able to detect your phone in download mode. See if you can plug your phone into a different computer either at a friends house or at work to see if they can detect your phone with your cable. If not, you will need a new cable.

So what if that didn't work and nothing was wrong with the cable? Would it be my USB port on the phone because the cable wiggles when I put it in.

Unrecognized device

I flashed AHRD 5.01 and later flashed back to AHRD 3.19 and now my computer will not recognize the phone. It keeps on saying unknown device and unrecognized device. I tried installing the newest HTC sync and driver but still won't work.
I've tried different USB port, and also on my laptop and neither PC will recognize the phone.
I have HTC BMP USB Driver ver. 1.0.5375 and HTC Driver Installer 3.0.0.017
wrong board. can a mod move this to Q&A?
Try using different DATA CABLE. if there is fault in your data cable it will not recognize. Other thing you can do is connect your phone to your PC then boot in to bootloader skin there are chance your PC will recognise android phone by generic driver.
thanks that works...wierd, I've been using the other cable for a few months. So what is a good place to get good and CHEAP cables.
Don't wanna pay 9.99 for a micro USB cable >__<
You can use NOKIA micro usb cable it will work for sure.

[Q] Won't mount via usb but charges fine

I'm using a mac with Android File Transfer. This happened recently after my update to 4.4.2. I am rooted as well. I plug in the phone via usb and it starts charging but doesn't mount. I have USB Debugging on if that helps. Any ideas?

OTG and Parallel Charging

Hi, I've created a Y cable by connecting Red n Black of an OTG cable to a micro usb cable. However only one works at time. I.e if i connect the charger first then OTG wont work and if i connect the OTG first then the phone won't charge.. I am on stock 5.0.2 soak and unlocked & unrooted. I guess the stock kernel doesn't support.
