If you absolutely can't do all the extra work to long press a button AND tap the screen, holding down power + vol down takes a screenshot too.

This does not work for me. Is there a setting to enable this somewhere? I can't seem to locate it.
Thanks.
Volume down and power works nicely for screenshot.
Thanks for the tip!

Due to the power button issues with the Nexus One I would like to see an app developed for adding a power button widget to limit the amount of abuse our physical power buttons must endure.
With all the great devs here on XDA, I am sure that someone will be able to get this app up and running for all of us Nexus One owners. (Tmo, AT&T, Verizon, etc.)
Launch Market. Search for "reboot control" and there you have it: a widget that lets you reboot, power down, reboot into recovery, wipe handset, reboot into bootloader.
and an app to turn off your screen instead of hitting the power button or waiting for it to go into standby?

Yes, as well as the other common power button controls
Are there any reboot apps that don't require ROOT?

no need for an app.
just click vol-down, trackball and the power button all at the same time and it'll reboot.

Thanks for the tip! I do like a software solution though as well. My question still stands, is there a power button widget that doesn't require rooting my new phone?

I don't think there is. If you can't run reboot in a terminal without root access then I doubt there is an app that can do it.
I would love a widget that would allow you to cut off the screen.
After trackball wakeup trick we only need widget to put phone in sleep and i'll surely forget about power button who is very hard to reach one handed
Anybody?
Is there any way to turn phone on by pressing CALL button?
Thank you.
lol, why you want to power it on when u have a dedicated power buttion at the top?

I am sorry if it is not useful for you anyway my question still valid no need to laugh at me.
if that hurt you, i am sorry.
i believe you cannot reassign button at this moment, unless someone find way to root the device and mod the device to wake up using call button

I tried my best, but hopelessly
You can have a tiny bit of variance, maybe 1/10 second or so between Power and VolumeDown. If the volume toast appears, you weren't quick enough, and need to wait until it disappears. If you still can't do it, try with your other hand or a different pair of fingers.

I had a piece of plastic on the home button that would not let me setup the fingerprint option but nothing on the back or menu buttons.

Long press on the back button works for me. I have on app. Shopping List that used the left side as a menu button but that won't work now so I tried long pressing the back button here too. No go. It acts as if I repeatedly pressed the back button. I ended up leaving a review for it saying they needed to update it for Marshmallow.

Click volume up + power button at same time and it'll increase the volume to the max. similarly with volume down+ power button. Is that actually a feature cause I don't find it useful at all!

It's not happening in my device. Definitely a bug or maybe some rogue app is messing up with the buttons.

Tried exactly that. Nothing happens when Volume + and power button are clicked together. And the volume decreases by a step when Volume - and power button are clicked.
