Android is really challenging- lots of hardware (IMO this is a good thing) and versions make testing unreliable...

Just a quick test this morning, and it does appear to be fixed.

I just downloaded the free version of this and it looks really promising.
While the screen was on and the app still open it worked perfectly, but when I turned the screen off and activated it again, it did hours fine and the rounded min fine, but the 2nd activation didn't work.

There is a time window to second tap to get the exact minutes, it's 10 seconds, you can also just go into "one tap" mode and time to exact minute every time. Still, I'll try to re-create your issue.

Same with Desire HD which makes it useless for me atm.

Okay, so - I left it running with the screen off and phone unused for about an hour and a half, to check the battery usage.
(Phone: Samsung Captivate (Galaxy S on ATT))
Normally, on average, I lose just under 1% per hour when the phone is not in use. With haptiClock active, I lost right around 1% per 10 minutes, while the phone was not in use. So the drop isn't as bad as I was expecting (yay!), but it's not something I'd leave on all the time, either.
No force-closes, ether, so the fix earlier seems to have fixed it entirely.
I have a habit of discreet time-checking, so this'll be great. Best trigger for me seems to be about 13 or 14 - juuust enough that I don't have to whack my phone/make an obvious movement to trigger it.
I have to change the language on the help, because when it did appear in my battery use stats it was always about the same as Cell Standby, which didn't seem to make sense, I should have grabbed Izkata's app (and will now) to check battery usage. It is important to turn off when you don't anticipate needing it.
On the Desire HD & EVO, I have no idea why ATM, but will look into it over the next 24hrs. I did test it on an HTC myTouch 3G and it worked.
If either of you get a chance, could you post OS version / API level and any mods?

It's not the best thing for measuring usage like this, though. To get the numbers in my previous post, I just recorded the percent before and after, and manually divided. 'Tho you can see in the History graph when it drops faster, so that helps.

Android 2.1-update1 / API 7, rooted, but with no mods.
When screen is on, it works alright. But when screen turned off, no response from the app. Great idea though. I'm using a wildfire btw..
To those of you for whom the app doesn't work when the screen is off, this is an Android bug affecting certain phones. I believe it is a problem (be it a feature whereby the manufacturer is trying improve battery usage profile, or a bug) with the firmware. The HTC phones with Sense UI seem to be among the more commonly afflicted devices.
I remember seeing this bug report I started working on the app:

BUT by the time it was getting close to done, my impression was that this had basically been fixed, and I didn't mention it anywhere in the release, none of the phones I tested on had this problem.
Now, there is another newer Android bug report regarding this issue, please STAR it (upper left of page)

and hopefully we will see more rapid resolution of this issue, I think the OS isn't the problem, but perhaps manufacturer firmware updates could help resolve it.
Please don't leave negative comments on the Market if the app doesn't work with the screen off. Because of users doing this (which I should have seen coming) my star rating is started to go down. I have included language on the Market entry which should prevent people from giving the app a low rating solely because of this issue.
Lastly, there is a workaround of sorts for this which will fix the problem on some phones. I will implement it, but am going to proceed very cautiously, because last thing I want to do is break the app for users for whom it is currently functioning appropriately.
As such, I would really appreciate it if people who are experiencing this issue would beta test a new release with the workaround prior to my releasing it on the market.

Since you are using it at a pretty sensitive setting:
Go to settings->overall sensitivity and select "Make more sensitive" and you'll find you can be a little more in the middle of the range and will have better precision for where you'd like the trigger to be, of course set it back if you want to use it and you're being more active.

Since we both have a paid version of an app out, we could just do a "trade" and buy each others' apps, assuming you haven't already. The difference in pricing is small enough that I wouldn't really worry about it. Or we could try out the refund idea, then have experience to advise others in the future (I haven't bought haptiClock yet, and might not for a while - various stuff going on IRL)

I'll take another look at the setting(s) eventually, and try and remember to post my comparisons in this thread once I do. (However, I'm starting a new job this week and don't want to mess with stuff/might not have time to mess with stuff until next weekend)
Great app! I've been looking for an app that did this for a really long time.
I was thinking though. The vibrate system's a little confusing, and I don't really need to know the exact time. Usually I only need to know it to the closest 15 minutes. Perhaps you could set toggles for the 10/15 minute vibe, the 5 minute vibe, and the 1 minute vibe?

There is a setting which allows you to only receive the 10/15 vibe (at least it requires an add'l tap to get the exact minute)... but I do like your idea of being able to specifically set where to stop. It would be a fairly extensive task for me to implement, as I basically have it set up to do just to the minute, or require add'l tap. We'll see how it goes, I can't say I'm going to be spending a bunch more time on this thing unless it attracts more users.

Doesn't work with the screen off on the dell streak running dj steves 1.6.0 froyo ROM. Would definetly be interested in buying when (if) it can.
Well, it looks like all workarounds I've tried for phones which don't respond to the sensor when the screen is off (in standby mode) have failed. This is likely a firmware issue which ought to be addressed by the manufacturer. The code should run the same on all devices, this is the point of Android!
Given that it works on most phones, it is a "bug" or "defect".

I think there are lots of possibilities here and hopefully it will get fixed because there are similar apps I'm creating which rely on the accelerometer working in standby as I've implemented in haptiClock.

There are lots of videos showing this problem: after you have touched the screen sometimes the screen registers finger presses even after you've removed them.
It's very hard to see what is going on if you don't turn on "show touches" in settings, so I suspect many reports about touch screens being unresponsive, or acting strangely is really the same problem.
It occurs both in stock ROMs and aosp, but subjectively more often in stock roms. It's not about moisture remaining, I've wiped the screen completely clean and dry and the phantom touches are there before, during and after cleaning.
Is there a software solution to this or is it hardware? Any thoughts of how this problem could be approached? I'm having trouble even reproducing it reliably.

I replaced my Asus TF300 because of a similar issue. Asus fixed it once under warranty (replaced the entire LCD and digitizer, I think) but the issue came right back within a few months after RMA. By then the warranty had expired. In my case, the ghost touches were prevalent in a specific part of the screen; couldn't tell from your video whether the false touches were in the same general area every time or not.
Surprisingly, until the problem became so bad that an entire area was unusable, I could flash a new ROM and get somewhat different behavior. Just to be sure, though, I did flash a stock ROM prior to sending back to Asus and verified the issue existed there, labeled the area with tape so they could not miss it, and described in details the steps to reproduce.

This is my experience also, the aosp revolt rom, seems to suffer much less so than the stock roms.
It does seem to be the same area but it might be just because it's the side that is used most often for scrolling due to me being right handed.
The difference between how the roms behave is what make me suspect it's a software issue.
Just to be clear, you've not noticed this even once with your note? Before I turned on the "show touches" I saw it most clearly when I used chrome or other programs with scrollable elements. The page would sometimes just vibrate a little when left alone.

The guy in the video did a great job with research. Did you catch the part where he found nearly imperceptible damage to the screen that was a possible cause? The ghosting always seems to occur in the same places because that's where the screen has been "crushed". Now "crushed" is a bad word because the screen probably hasn't been compressed beyond an acceptable level but there might be some correlation between where the users normally places his/her hand when using the pen and where the phantom touches occur. Maybe when writing, some users are baring-down harder than they realize and prolonged pressure in the same arc-shaped area created by the side of a hand, causes some changes in the capacitive properties in that area which cause a "latch" condition -- where the digitizer gets stuck and won't unstick until power is removed.
I've noticed in the videos that I've seen that the presenter get the problem to appear when using the side of their hand in a rolling fashion -- probably the same motion that they use when they just start to write. I also believe that devices that have this problem "get better" or less sensitive when not used for a while. This would follow the idea that the screen is compressed and given some time, the compression relaxes.
If the problem is limited to a certain area of the screen, I find it hard to believe that the problem could possibly have anything to do with ROM or firmware. The matrix of the digitizer in X-Y coordinates is addressed such that if there were a problem like this, the error would occur and repeat in either a straight vertical or horizontal direction instead of finite points spanning many rows and columns.
I guess one way of ruling this idea out would be to find someone who has never used the pen to write yet still has the problem.
I haven't ruled out that it is hardware related, but I have noted a significant improvement leaving stock ROMs for aosp. Maybe that's just a coincidence, I can't know for sure. I have noted something else that might help diagnose this problem.
If the period of turning on the screen, using the tablet then turning off the screen constitutes one session, there are two types of sessions. Sessions which suffer from this problem, which will be apparent in a relative short period of time. But there are also sessions where everything works as it should, regardless of how long the session is. So you will notice this problem within 10 min or not at all.

Lollipop is horrible. My phone no longer does one of the most basic things that's been around since the G1: Go (the F) to sleep! Seriously?!?!
Here are my other problems:
-Phone doesn't sleep on its own if timeout set for longer than 30 seconds (and even then, it's not reliable)
-WiFi doesn't reconnect after sleep (when sleep even happens, which is only when I push the button to force it). I have to toggle WiFi off/on to reconnect.
-Battery drain is pretty bad. My first month with the S5 had me barely even thinking about charging. Now, with Lollipop, I feel like I'm back on my old HTC MyTouch!
-The silly way they implemented the lockscreen. Here's my problem: I can ONLY use Settings > Sound and Notification > While locked with the option "Do not show notifications". Why? Any other setting blocks the Owner Information (Settings > Lock screen > Owner Information). If I don't, and if I'm unfortunate enough to have lost my phone, yet fortunate enough to have it found by a good samaritan, I better hope I haven't miss any calls or received any messages in the meantime. This one REALLY GRINDS MY GEARS because it's a horribly-implemented Feature ... at least the others are unintended bugs, but somebody had to give this one the green light.
-I can't adjust the icon sizes anymore. There used to be a choice of large or small icons.
-Oh, and for some bonehead reason, Samsung decided their stock ROM wouldn't have the Lollipop built-in flashlight icon.
-Another intentional feature that I can't disable: the phone keeps a history of recent activity that persists through reboots. YUCK! Why can I not disable this?!?! Again, another bonehead call that somebody had to green-light, without even considering the possibility that I might want to turn it off!
-All the UI "polishing" and improvements don't mean a thing to me, I want it to work.
I found all of the above in less than 24 hours on Lollipop! I might lose my s**t entirely if I keep it for much longer.
Here is my take on why:
Google and Apple are in a heated race to the top. They wrongly assume that what will set each apart from one another is almost entirely dependent on what a few bloggers say about some hot new feature. The paradigm appears to be something like: "Who cares if millions of loyal subscribers lose functionality when we want 100 people to have this one obscure and half-baked feature?"

I too do not like the lolli. Bad battery life, and for some reason the Heart rate monitor led turns on whenever anything is within a half inch of it. I just can't figure that out, but it sucks the battery like a red led vampire!

Lmfao when I saw that link and clicked it, I actually had that same thread opened moments before opening this thread because I, too, am having to go back to KitKat. I laughed for a good 20 seconds. Lollipop is freaking terrible at the moment. Zero customization and Google + Samsung are forcing too much garbage on us without giving any bit of customization.

Heart rate monitor thing was fixed in OC4 I think, but if it still goes off a factory reset will fix it.

OP, I agree with you. It probably is the first version without the definitely improvement overall for users. It is risky to upgrade and troublesome if it didn't work out well on your devices. Wish Android 5.1 could be better than Kitkat overall.
I have absolutely no problems with the lollipop. I always had it stock from the start and just let the OTAs take over on their own. Have you tried even rebooting into recovery and wipe cache? Even though it's not a custom recovery you can still do that, also even when you dirty flash nightlies that's something that's good practice. My wife's phone had similar issues that I wasn't experiencing, until I did that to her phone and now she's having no problems. Now the general annoyances of how Samsung implemented ****, I understand, it's stupid with not having native flashlight, tethering is annoying having to use foxfi, and the lockscreen.. bleh. But other than that, everything is actually working like it is supposed to
Chiming in, Yes it's bad.
I have two lines with Verizon, both with S5 phones on them. Great device, its actually the first Android phone I've had that I did not do anything with beyond the out of the box experience. That changed when Lollipop was pushed via OTA, the most prominent issue I experienced on both of my S5s is general responsiveness issues, simple things like switching apps or launching apps sometimes would leave me with a white screen for between 5-10 seconds, an eternity especially when the device was lighting fast on 4.4.4 Kitkat. I followed every suggestion from wiping the device in Android, Wiping in recovery, wiping cache, all of these with only marginal improvements. It really is a shame that Google / Samsung did not do a bit better quality assurance on this build before it was pushed out to carriers and ultimately peoples devices. It says something that other carriers skipped 5.0 and that very rapidly 5.1 surfaced on Newer devices / Nexus devices.
As of last night both of my phones are Odin'd back to 4.4.4 and its like having a brand new phone. Sure, there might not be as much polish, but there are no features I will die without having. The only one that I can say I do miss is the feature where the device will disable the lock screen when your smart watch or home WiFi is connected.
Here's to hoping that Google eventually gets Android 5 right in the optimization department and that Samsung picks it up for the S5, and that Verizon gets it ready for OTA before I am ready to move on to a new device. Not interested in the S6 at all for its sealed nature for storage and battery, but that's for another thread on a different day.

I Have to agree. I've given it several chances to perform to expectations but it just fails.... ( insert sad puppy face here ) no matter what I have tried it just under-performs and the biggest thing is the horrible battery life. Sooooo yeah like most of the other commentators in this thread, I'm moving back to 4.4.4......
Unfortunately/fortunately, I have found most of my battery issues were solved with a factory reset. I'm more frustrated that Samsung seems to having issues with Android Auto.

Observations, not complaints. Getting these points out in the open is an essential stepping stone to getting them fixed. Maybe, just maybe, a Producteer or architect at Google has read this by now so they know what to improve next time. Problems cannot be solved until they are defined.

Yeah, I guess that was wishful thinking.
In any case, it seems this thread was a complete waste of time. It made me feel better at the time, but looking back on it and the purpose of this site, it doesn't add any value or help anyone modify their phone. Not only that, one of my primary reasons for the OP was the screen lock issues which turned out to be an app, not the Android version.
So, I stand corrected. Live and learn. Enough said.
My wife would never let me root her phone ever. After this update either I find a way to go back a few with root or it goes against the wall. Looks like I have to start reading and figure out how to do this.

It's a great app, but something about it staying active in the Notification Bar keeps the screen awake. I still use the app, just can't keep the notification active in Lollipop.
And in case it isn't obvious, even though I still have my concerns about Lollipop, I never did go about the procedure of downgrading. It looks like a risky procedure, and I don't want to trip Knox, or worse, have a brick.

I have been using the s7 edge for over a year now; this is my first Samsung experience; so bear with me.
With the newest Android version installed, the battery and all that still holds (which impresses me the most)
Though on the software latter side, I have been experiencing 'lag' and apps 'force-closing' which tends to adhere the expected performance overall.
Just accounting these software, I hope Samsung would send a patch update for better RAM Management soon.
After one year I am not tempted to switch to anything else. I truly don't have any glaring complaints about the device. Is it as buttery smooth as the pixel? No, but it's not that far off. I read that some people experience slow downs and crashes overtime but this hasn't been my experience, likely because I flash a new Rom every month or so. I would have no problem keeping this phone until it died.
Overall I'm very happy with the phone. Both front and back screens cracked in the last year. Got screens fixed by Samsung for free. Battery was good in the beginning, but struggling to get more then 12 hours now. When the phone is not being used there is a lot of battery drain. A month ago the screen started getting grey stripes over it. The LED must be replaced by Samsung as it is a problem on their side. Put the S8 touchwiz on and the phone is snappy. Pics are still great....Very happy with the phone

Concerning your standby battery drain, flash a new stock firmware + factory reset to start from scratch,it will definitely fix your issue
A not so fun year.
My S7 Edge has multiple cracks in the front and back glass along with I was forced by the phone to upgrade to the S8 + due to half of the screen glitching out and not allowing me to access the phone. Also the phone has been back and forth to Samsung nearly 5 times and has been factory reseted 3 or 4 times due to overheating issues.
My phone was serving me very well, until april (13 months from when I bought it). My battery has swollen, I got it to service and they replaced it, and now after about 1 month, it has swollen again.... battery life is horrible because of that, everything else works just perfect.

It was changed under warranty by an Samsung certified service shop, so it should be original Samsung battery.

I have the same problem, a lot of battery drain in standby... Is there a way to perform a factory reset and reinstall all apps previously installed without a hassle? Meaning: not having to manually go through all the settings again.

Runs real nice with a custom kernel. Butter smooth and decent battery life
Mine has been faultless through out my ownership.
This is my first Samsung phone ever, using it about a week ago. Coming from Lenovo Vibe Shot so far so good. Battery seems to be great, screen is superb my only big issue right now is to find the perfect screenprotector/case combo Which I will find eventually I know.
However there are smaller issues too. Well, more of annoyances than issues with the phone, so I am going to list some features that exist in my previous phone but missing in the almighty flagship (2016) phone:
- Vibe Shot: knock to awake. S7e: -
- Vibe Shot: home screen gestures #1 swipe down and the notifications came down. S7e: I have to reach the top.
- Vibe Shot: home screen gestures #2 swipe up and home screen customisation menu came up. S7e: have to fiddle with the settings menu
- Vibe Shot: WiFi boost if reception low. S7e: -
- Vibe Shot: Bandwidth displayed on top when there was network connectivity. S7e: -
- Vibe Shot: Auto profiles applied based on time and/or location. S7e: -
- Vibe Shot: Auto reboot AND scheduled power off / on can be configured for every day. S7e: auto reboot once a week, no scheduled power off and on.
- Vibe Shot: Alarm, clock, stopwatch etc is accessible by only clicking on the clock on the top left corner when you pull down the notification tray. S7e: nothing happens when you tap the clock.
- Vibe Shot: Click on the battery icon on notification area (top right corner) and the battery settings/stats come up. S7e: -
- Vibe Shot: Ability to change 2G/3G/4G through a widget. S7e: - (TBH I won't miss this as my new operator is pretty good)
- Vibe Shot: Notification log/history menu at the bottom of the notification tray. S7e: -
- Vibe Shot: Vibration strong, yet quiet. S7e: strongish but fairly loud.
- Vibe Shot: Alarm worked when the phone was switched off. S7e: I admit I haven't tried it yet but I have a feeling that it won't work
Most of them are annoying because of my habits from my old device however it doesn't take away from the fact that these are features existing in the Vibe Shot by default but missing from the S7e. I know this could be true vice versa. (S7e: fingerprint sensor, water resistant, NFC, amoled, bigger battery etc. Vibe Shot: - )
Please correct me if I listed something that is incorrect in relation to the S7 edge, I am a new user so I might missed something. And yes, some of the features can be added with different launchers or apps but the point is that my mid range phone had such useful/comfortable features out of the box...
That being said it is a great phone indeed, the best one I ever owned

No, if you want a new fresh start again you will have to download and set up everything again, but it would be worth if your battery drain is gone. Also google backs up your wifi passwords and apps, samsung too so it will automatically re-install everything again, the whole process will take you 2hours max if you have lot of apps

You also could use Smart Switch on a computer. Back up your files to the computer then factory reset the reconnect to the computer and restore everything.

Love the SG7E only thing that still bugs my is teh reversed buttons for back and scrolling through apps :/ never get used to it since i use multiple android phones and only samsung is backwards
This also is my first Samsung device, and i couldn't be happier with the s7 edge. It still looks beautiful, is fast enough for my needs, and battery consumption is excellent imho. I absolutely don't feel the need to replace it anytime soon. The S8 seems all right, but i couldn't arrange myself with the fingerprint sensor on the back. For one its position seems to be awkward, and i like to have a home button on the front. Makes it easier to unlock the device when it is resting on a table. A bezel-less phone may seem to look more "futuristic" but, as i said i like the home button on the front. Will keep it until it dies on me. Hope this won't happen for at least two years.

I really prefer samsung's buttons layout, it's makes more sense since most of us are right handed and the back button is what we use the most

agree on AI button - hate it! especially in phone case it gets triggered too often just holding the phone
any way to mute that button or change it to another usage? I think I can only deactivate the google assistant itself, but it keeps reacting starting it up and asking to enable the assistant again

Totally agree with the AI button thing, I click it ALL the time by accident it's super annoying. There is a thread on XDA for changing the functionality and a Magisk module as well. The Magisk module is for the Mi 9 but may work for the Mix 3 as well, not entirely sure on that. I haven't experienced the Bluetooth issues though, and I have the global hardware (6 GB RAM 128 GB ROM). My Bluetooth works flawlessly. The slider does feel a bit inconsistent, not sure how/why but I rarely use the selfie camera anyway so it's not a big deal for me. I feel like the battery is pretty average for a smartphone, nothing great but not bad. I can usually get through a day with it and its better than my V30 so that's a plus. Hope you're still enjoying the phone overall!

Personally, I don't have any issues with the thickness and actually, it makes it easier to hold with my large hands. I have had thinner devices, like the LG V30, S9 Plus, and Note 9, but they just feel like toys by comparison.
The AI button isn't an issue for me. I am not rooted but I have used ADB to uninstall Xiaomi's when I was using the Chinese ROM my device came with and used ADB to remove Google Assistant when I installed the Global Stable ROM. I have no issues finishing a day of very heavy use with about 10% battery left using both SIM slots simultaneously. On average, I finish my day with about 30% left, but I do travel often, so those days, I spend more time watching YouTube on planes and texting more than anything else. I have used ADB though to remove a lot of bloat that can run and waste battery life.
I don't use Bluetooth devices at all so i can't really comment on how well or how well it doesn't work on the Mi MIX 3. However, many devices do experience Bluetooth issues for various reasons. Firmware updates for cars or the Bluetooth in the device itself is usually the more common answer. No manufacturer is exempt from these issues.
I definitely agree with the earpiece. Because it is technically set in the bottom part of the device, it has to send sound straight through the other to get to your ear. If your ear is right over the hole where this comes through, it's fine, but it does take some getting used to and makes it hard to rest the phone on your shoulder and still talk on it.
I haven't had any issues with the slider. From the day I got my device, the slider has been stiff and robust. I often use it just fiddling around as well. The magnets pull and push feel just as strong as the day I opened the box. I also haven't noticed the screen being on when it is in my pocket and have never had my screen on when removing it from my pocket. I do have double tap to wake and lift to turn on the screen disabled though. Perhaps it is one or a combination of both of those settings causing that issue for you.

I have some issues with MIUI as well. Would they stop me from buying another Xiaomi device? No.
Tue stock apps suck! The default Messaging app doesn't support rotation and doesn't display group texts under those in that. It splits tue group texts under their individual threads. Changing Messaging apps leaves me with notification sounds that can't be changed because Xiaomi developers are stuck in the years of KitKat with how their sounds work!
The change to not being able to lock the bootloader when switching ROM's is probably the worst I can think of. I get the reasoning behind the change but I bought thebChinese model as the Chinese model because I wanted more RAM.
MIUI settings are also lacking when it comes to restricting roaming from one SIM but not the other.
My T-Mobile plan works in multiple countries and I want that to roam when outside of the US. My Telus SIM though is insane for roaming so I don't want that SIM roaming but I want that SIM left enabled to see who calls and texts.
All that said and a few more gripes. The Mi MIX 3 is still a superb device and one I don't regret buying.
Notifications are awful. I have yet to have a notification display on the lock screen. When I do receive new mail or an SMS message, it can take up to 40 minutes before notifying me if the screen is off. If the screen is on I get the notification within a couple of minutes but that is only if the screen is on. Screen on means the screen is being displayed and the lock screen has been dismissed. It does not mean that the always on ambient display is on. That is just as bad as the display being completely off which makes me think that the problem lies with the phone being locked and is not just an over aggressive doze problem. I am using the notification repeater app and I also use Auto-notifications with its notification categories feature. Both of those have helped a little bit but it is rare that I get a notification within 10 minutes of my phone receiving e-mail or text messages when the screen is off (10 minutes is actually good).
There is also an issue with Android calendars. These aren't the calendars attached to your gmail account and they are not local calendars as well. Android calendars are usually created by 3rd party apps that offer holiday calendars for every country, sports scedules for every NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL and NCAA teams (motor sports and European football in some apps). The apps that also create TV listing calendars create their calendars as Android calendars. Any calendar app for Android can display them and you can choose to display or hide them individually within any android based calendar apps. Not with MIUI though. I can see them in the settings of any calendar app I install and can set them as hidden or viewable but they will not display as a calendar in any calendar app. MIUI has a few nice features but it is not worth the lack of timely notifications and it would also be nice if I could actually display all of my calendars. I have gone the custom GSI route and there were issues with every GSI based ROM I tried. I could install every GSI ROM I tried. I could even install Resurrection Remix GSI without a problem (repairing and resizing the system partition so you can install GAPPS is easier than most people realize. I kept running into deal breaker isssues with each GSI ROM though. I don't remember what the issue was with BlissROM but I do remember taking half a day to try and find a work around to no avail. Pixel Dust had an annoying random reboot problem and Resurrection Remix seemed to work just fine until it randomly would display a Setting up phone message after logging into the phone at a very random time. It would sometimes do this somewhere with the first few hours of use but could go as long as a day and a half before doing it. The only way to get past that screen was to get into the phones settings and clear out your fingerprints and set the phone to not require any type of password, pin or pattern. Once you clear those out the phone will continue to boot. If you want security you will need to setup security again and you will find yourself doing this all over again anywhere within the next hour too 24 hours. This is a known issue and there is a thread about it. It is a ROM issue because it is doing it on many different brands of phones. It is doing it very randomly though and the developers of the ROM have not had it happen to one of their phones yet. It makes the ROM unusable for those of us that are running into it though which is why I am back to MIUI (eu version) and in my opinion, MIUI ruins what would be a very good phone experience.
The pocket detection is occasionally driving me crazy, it's an issue on the PE rom too. The settings pull-down is active even on the lock screen, so while it's in my pocket it will sometimes turn wifi/bluetooth on or off, etc. I'm hoping the Cyanogen rom will eventually improve this. Only seems to be a problem for me when the radio app is automatically activated when I turn on my bluetooth headset.
Bluetooth connection also causes me some minor irritation. It won't auto-connect to the A2DP unit in my car, although it does connect to the phone module. I've been looking through the configuration files trying to find something to tweak this, but the structure of the current roms makes finding anything useful almost impossible.
AI button, also a hassle, but it can't be that bad because I haven't bothered to install the Magisk module to remap it yet. I much prefer a button to call up the assistant rather than "ok google".
Battery, I have no idea what you're talking about, but I guess it depends on what device you came from. This device is far and away the most battery frugal I've ever had, by a long shot, and the speed of the wireless charging makes it even better.
I never have a problem with the earpiece, but I do remove the lint from it fairly regularly, maybe that's the problem? If anything, the sound on calls I would rate as way better than previous phones.
My slider mechanism is also variable. Sometimes it's perfect, other times it's hard to get it to slide, but I think it's more to do with the friction from my fingers than the mechanism itself, sometimes the surfaces feel super-slippery! Give me cheap, rubberized plastic and a removable rear cover and battery every day of the week!

I guess you are right there with the point from where you came from. In comparison to my "old" Huawei Mathe 10 Pro the Battery is bad. But on the other Hand the Mix3 has (fast) Wireless Charging :good:
I checked the last weeks my Battery stats and usage. There was nothing uncommon. To me it is not satisfying, especially when I am on a trip (like last week) I barely made it back to the Hotel with a few % left.
Just to get this into Context (for most of you tl;dr):
Listening to music for 2 hrs
Navigation for public transport - also active for 2 hrs
checking Mails - hard to measure
searching for a place for diner - 20 min
checking social media... every minute is too much
In my opinion this is an average usage and therefore the battery is considered bad to me.

Mine is running rooted crDroid ROM, which allows me to address most of these points.
Thickness: this is a tradeoff for sliding display.
Battery: crDroid is very good battery-wise, but also installed magic module LKT and get easily 1.5 days of heavy use now
AI button: Used magisk module and button remapper APK to remap mine, for me single press does nothing (because like you i press it accidentally all the time) double press toggles flashlight and long press launches google assistant.
Pocket detection: You can enable this in crDroid settings
Holding phone to ear: I don't have this problem
Slider: My slider took a bit of wearing in. That might sound strange but it was a bit squeeky and felt weaker than it should be to begin with but after a few months of use it now feels great.
Bluetooth delays: No idea, never use bluetooth. Sorry about that one.
