I think it is normal. It also happens with my tab.

Mine to 35 degrees celcius must be normal.

It gets warm, but im not worried about it. If it was close to the battery and it got hot then heck yea but if the battery is not really heating up im fine. My phone actually gets hot sometimes lol, a lot hotter and its always fine.

I come from the LG Optimus 3D (basically the same hardware as the Galaxy Tab 2 with less RAM). According to my 1 year experience the Galaxy Tab gets exactly as warm as my old LG O3D used to get. I never had any probs with the LG so I'm pretty sure there won't be probs with the Tab either :good:

How hot is it getting? I'm pretty sure every smartphone experiences some kind of heat from gaming or streaming videos specially when you are charging it at the same time.

No and the phone does not get nearly as hot on wifi. Really odd. Also the phone was overcloaked before but I pushed it back to just 1ghz. My phone burning me for using the browder out is not cool though. Think there is an issue?

Well there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the device since you said you put it back to 1 ghz. Really odd if you ask me. Maybe its a battery problem? Sometimes defective batteries cause overheating and can explode.

I'd recommend you flash and reinstall the ROM on your phone. Sounds to me like you've still go some of the old performance updates kicking in making the device hotter!
For me your temperatures are pretty normal. When I am not gamimg my max was 91F!!

Since you claim to have been able to move around the CPU frequency, I assume you are running setCPU. In setCPU you can look at Info tab where under the battery header it also displays the battery tempt. It's normal for the phone to heat while you are charging, on call for long or gaming for long duration but if you are seeing absurdly high reading for the battery tempt, then you better have it checked.
Hmm I had a overheating issue last night, woke up to my phone making a loud noise - I had set setCPU to make a noise when it goes over 40C and it did this today in the early hours of the morning whilst it was charging.
No processes were running other than the normal Live Wallpaper, Keyboard etc.. The phone was quite hot to the touch as well, so I just turned it off.
Weird thing is I have another profile in setCPU to have the max freq at 800Mhz and lowest 100Mhz when the screen is off so don't know how it got so hot?

[Q] why does the samsung infuse overheat

Why mybye because video or gps help
Why
1. Over clocking
2. Streaming on 3/4 G for a long time
3. Continued GPS (using GPS for like 30 mins still didn't heat my phone though)
4. Charging phone when it is in a covered place and not in open
My phone over heats if I have the brightness to 100% while charging but it turns down by it self and warns me about it

Do you have a case? If so, which one? I bought one off of a kiosk in the mall, and I guess my phone wasn't breathing well with it and kept heating up. Took it out and used a different one and is fine. Unless if I do some heavy gaming.
Also when I was using the gps while charging in my car, started to heat up.

My s3 was on fire!!!!

I went to bed normal. Plugged in my s3 into the charger . My battery was like at 4%. I leave the phone on because I use it as an alarm clock. I woke up at 6am and NY phone is really really hot I have no idea why? Why would this be? So I turn it off and let it cool down. Mean the screen was off and everything. Could my charger be bad or? It was so hot you couldn't touch the screen for long.

well do you have a custom rom on it does it have fast charge is it on? kernel? oc? voltage tweak?

We're going to need more info then that I am afraid to figure out what happened (if we can at all )
You flashed Clean Rom... did you
Use a custom kernel?
Flash the new firmware for the new update?
Flash the new radio for the update?
Any other things you flashed with the rom?
Any apps that have root permission?
I don't think it could be a bad charger .... key words don't think...
If it's not software related and it happens again it could be a bad cell in the battery perhaps and it's still trying to charge to capacity .... the more info you give us the more we can try and trouble shoot it.
Thank You for messaging XDA Anonamooose Tech support .....LOL
Anyone else have some insight?
Actually this happened before on my gnex . Thought the battery was bad but it can't be this battery also. What's weird was it charged it to 15% instead of 100% its like all the power after 15% was just heating it up instead of charging? Or could the battery be bad because I. Plugged it in again and it charged 33% in like 55minutes a 4400mah anker battery

Taking a hot expanded object and exposing it to quick contraction is how you pop solders and crack circuit boards.Exposing to sudden heat is not as bad as sudden cold. Plastic shrinks at a different rate then metal, and so on.
You got lucky.

Its normal to get a little hot when using wifi or data. If its very hot check some applications that maybe pushing wifi/data transfer
Every smartphone will get hot cuz it just like a PC. Have you ever seen a PC running without getting hot? Another possible reason is related to the temperature of the environment.
Plus do you use it while charging?

Dont worry, generally speaking thats not a problem

Try to change to another ROM or Kernel.
Every piece of technology gets hot. Just turn it off till it cools down and youll be fine. Happens to me when I use Pandora.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
If your phone has the power connector at the top it'll generally be near the antenna, which means data transfer along with charging will generally produce a lot of heat, but, really when transferring that amount of data various other parts of the phone will be used and heat up as well.
Long story short, so long as you don't get burned you'll be fine. Abnormal overheating means higher than normal battery drain though, after all you can't have heat without power, food for thought.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Change the kernel sometimes improves heating issues. Not always.
It's perfectly normal for your phone to get a little hot but not too hot, where you could fry an egg on it. My s3 gets hot when I'm using it while its on the charge. When I over clock it, it also heats up but nothing major.
And behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
Its normal it doesn't really matter on a galaxy anyway I've done learned there touch my smartphone shut down 3 times with a overheating symbol and I've had it for 3 yes now still works like new
Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk 2
The games tend to increase the temperature of the cell. Long hours also enabled screen.

When my galaxy s2 had heat issues, I took it back to the store and they have me a replacement. I'm assuming you don't have warranty or insurance.
My EVO 3D used to get hot until I rooted it and loaded ICS. It quadrupled my battery life too -- loading a new ROM can do wonders.
I have a galaxy s2 running 4.4 kitkat with Villuminati by dastin1015. Not stock, but sometimes, it just gets hot while plugged into a wall. Even after unplugging, it stays hot and drains battery life. It hasn't occurred recently, but just wondering if someone else has this.

56 ° it is very hot indeed. you talk about the temperature of the battery or the battery cover?

How hot is hot discussion

So iv've been wondering about heating range in our edison device..
Lemme start with mine...
Mine on idle around 32c to 34c depending on my room temperature..
On data it gets heated up to 40c highest is around 41c..
Gaming =?? I do less gaming so I can't tell..
Running liquid smooth jbx 1.48 oc with pegausq and row..
Edit: u can use Fahrenheit..

Mine is 26 to around 38 celsius. ( It's A bit cold here. So it goes that low over the night)
No gaming. Just regular usage and alot of photoshop.
Running on mokee. It's own kernel.
Even the room temp is hawt here..rarely rain this few days.. So how about on data? For me data was like an oven.. Though it still depending on surrounding..

Hot Hot!
Usually the temperature of my phone is around 26-30C. But as soon as I start browsing or use any internet based app (like Facebook) with 3G, Bam! Temperature of the phone shoots beyond 42C.. I hardly takes 5 mins to move from 30C to 42C.
So I was just wondering if it's normal or something can be done to keep a check of temperature.
I'm using JB Leak 1:rooted in System 1 and Mokee 4.4.2 in System 3.
