Why do I have different ringtones when people call? - HTC Sensation

My phone is acting strange, or it's that damn "HTC Sense" screwing with stuff again. Stock Europe ICS 3.33 with custom rom.
When people call me, sometime it uses the ringtone I choose. Sometimes it uses some another ringtone. I can't figure out what is going on. Is it supposed to do this? It's really freaking annoying because now when I hear a phone ring I have to check if it is my phone because I don't know what ringtone it will use next. I missed two phone calls because I didn't know it was my phone ringing.

It is possible to set a global ringtone, and also specific for certain contacts.
When a contact is opened, in the 'options' sexton, there's a Ringtone combo box, where a custom tone can be set.
See the last person who called you with 5he nondefault tone, perhaps it has a custom one set.

I didn't know how to change the ringtone for contacts, let alone want to. So if a contact's ringtone was changed, it wasn't me who did it. But I checked, and they are all set to default. But sometimes, not always, the system uses a different ringtone for whatever reason.

Your ringtones aren't on your sd card are they? If so it could be a sign of a failing sd card.

No, I only use stock ringtone "Oldphone." I like the fact the it actually sounds like a phone.

Thanks, I'm glad to know I'm not the only one it happened to.

Set different ringtones?

I am using ARHD 3.1.1 and I was wondering if its possible to have a different ringtone for the message notification and the actual phone call ringtone?
Both files are on my phone, and I want to chose one for each app.
I can set main phone ringtones and contact ringtones, but for message notifications I cannot.

Hi,
I'm using GoSMSPRO,and it has the option to set the notification separately.
Worth a try.
It's free.

Open the Messages app, press the menu key & in settings/notifications you can set the sound used there.
Actually I seemed to have fixed it by putting the audio file in the notification folder on my SD card. It shows on as one of the audio files now. Because before it wasn't showing up.

[Q] Silent Notifications? InsertCoin ROM

Recently installed the InsertCoid ICS 4.6.1, and I can't seem to find a way of setting notifications to be silent. I have done a bit of googling, and most people seem to be saying that in ICS you have the option of selecting 'Silent' in the default notification sound setting, but its not there... Is this something missing from the ROM, or am I being an idiot?
In Settings > Sound, is the option there?
Hmmm
nice nice nice

'Ringtone & Notifications' are grouped together as 1 volume. Does that mean you have to have the whole phone on silent, to stop notification sounds?

In the same boat
I'm actually looking for a solution to this as well, also on InsertCoin rom.
I'm recieving a ton of emails during the day and need to keep the notification volume down because I sit next to my boss but as a father of 2, I need to be able to hear the ringer when the phone rings. Having notification and ringer volumes paired is a huge pain. Anyone find a solution to this? Is this an "ICS" thing?
Thanks,
I have the same problem as well. :-(

[Q]Separating sound levels?

Has anyone figured out a way to make it so you can set different sounds to mute (example just notifications, which are tied to ringer, stupidly) without the sound profile for the entire phone changing to silent? If I set ringer to silent, everything but alarms and media are silenced, which is ****ing annoying. If I want everything silenced I'll set the silent profile mutt self. Really all I want is a way to control the different sound levels like an adult who knows the difference between ringer and notification volumes.
I've tried multiple third party apps, they are all limited to the way sound are handled natively, and can't override the auto-silent mode setting. I need a root solution, like a modified settings app, but unfortunately no one makes those for odexed ROMs, and I'm in stock T-Mo US...

Quick settings in the store. Used it for ages. Works perfectly for that. Only thing is that ringer and notifications are still tied together. But that's ICS, so you don't really get a choice.

Yeah, noticed that. Was going someone fixed it like in AOKP. But it might not matter for long since I'm having AOKP withdrawals, so I'm probably going to flash it soon. I was trying to stay as close to stock as possible but there are just too many little things about sense that irritate me, and now this.

What is default Verizon ringtone?

I actually really liked the ringtone my phone originally came with, but seem to have lost it. I have a giant list of ringtones saved to my phone and was hoping someone who hasn't changed it yet could just quickly reply with the name of the ringtone the phone comes with out of the box.

No it was something else. But correct, the ringtone is what I'm looking for, not the notification.

Is there a way to set ringtone to none? I would just like to hear notification sounds

Hello, I just picked an HTC One X on at&t and I can't figure out how to disable a ringtone. I still want to be able to hear notification sounds for sms. etc, but prefer not to have a ringtone sound. I realize I can use vibrate and silence mode, but that doesn't really solve the problem completely.
In CM7 on my old phone there was an option to set the ringtone to none in the list, but I don't see such option on the HOX.
Would I have to resort to importing in a blank.ogg ringtone and setting it to that or is there a better way to do it?
I searched through the forum here and saw someone mention an app that allows you to control ringtone volume separate from notification volume, but someone said it didn't work. I'll try to find the app and try that in the mean time.
My phone came with 2.20 firmware unfortunately. If it didn't, I would have rooted, unlocked, and flashed CM10 by now.
Any insight/help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Create a silent MP3 file, put in the ringtones folder, select it as your ringtone. Job done.

Is there a ringtone named silent on your phone? I've been through so many ROMS I can't say for sure if its in stock but it is in every ROM I can remember. It's usually the first ringtone.
