Can we expect a sense 4.0 port since unlocked bootloader??? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Verizon Galaxy S3 has finally got an unlocked bootloader. Any chance we will see a sense 4.0 port to it now like the international version and other us carriers i believe?

Cool!

That would be cool. I'm honestly a fan of Sense Roms, but I dislike HTC a lot.

It may be easier than on the Galaxy nexus/NexusS due to the Qualcom CPU...
but i doubt it

According to the Sense 4 All Thread on XDA, the answer is yes.

I went to their site and they've already got it booted up on a GS3, but I don't know which model (international or US).

i sure hope so!!! i have been following their sense4all.com site and i think that is the international model. hopefully we get somebody to port sense 4!!!

Looks like they are asking how many people would be interested. Not sure why he is asking in that forum. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1764005
Looks like they could use some devs help in getting it up quicker.

You can simulate the experience of running Sense with Beautiful Widgets, removing half your RAM and limiting your CPU to 600mhz. Just like running a phone with Sense!

We have kernels for AOSP and TW, they'd just need to pick on and modify it if they even need to. It comes down to how much they really want to port it.

This fits in here just fine. We have roms cooked from several different phones here. There are certainly some nice things to be found in this rom that can (possibly) contribute to the Hero.

Thank you. Knew it would come in handy.
Anybody have any clue what kind of special stuff is in there? Maybe the EVO Sense already works with JIT Roms????
I for one would love to see the new lockscreen ported to our 2.1 roms. That would be sick
I would love to have a lockscreen that isn't our stock Hero one. It's terrible. And I can't seem to get the Vanilla one working or any other one except the straight up clear one working on Fresh 2.1.
And the Hotspot app. I'd love Infrastructure wifi instead of Ad-Hoc
So other than a few different apps whats so different about the EVO rom? Been alot of talk that they may not even be able to root that baby, id feel bad for them.

The fact that Sprint is requiring (seems to be confirmed now too) that you have the Wifi hot spot add-on in order to activate the wifi on the phone leads me to believe that once people have this phone in hand they will find that it's not rootable.
I am not real savvy on rooting android phones, but it seems to me that this might be the direction that providers are going in with these phones in order to maintain add-on sales for the devices.

No, thankfully.
No they "just" cracked the bootloader so no cooked ROMs yet. But I have to ask, if you wanted sense why not just buy an HTC?

i loved my motorola droid but it was far too slow and had a screen that was far too small
all HTC devices in singapore have the same problem, none of them have a fast processor like the 1 in the x10 or a screen as big
the only other phone i considered was the samsung galaxy s which i hate its interface... too iphone like for me... if i wanted an iphone i'd have gotten 1 instead of getting a galaxy s pirated iphone
also the HTC evo is not available here yet either
btw supposing we hack the bootloader
will we be able to hack 2.1, 2.2 or even 3.0 onto our x10s?

Not really sure about that, the desire have the same CPU as the X10, though the screen is just 3.7" so it might not suit your need. But you are right, it's practically the only android with snapdragon we can find here from htc along with the nexus one
If everything goes well, we should get a working Cyannogen ROM in a few weeks. But, I really love the Timescape app. I wish there was something like that in the market.

[Q] Theme Question/Request

Hi there, I'm VERY new. I just got a Samsung Droid, first droid phone ever. I've rooted my phone by flashing the Altered Beast ROM onto it.
I came across the AndroidCutee theme HERE and want to know if its compatible with my phone. If not how do I make it compatible or can someone make one like it for the Charge or another similary Girly theme?
Many Thanks!

We only have one themer, and 2or3 rom developers right now. Im thinking the dev support will be slow and lacking with the charge. Samsung screwed too many people with a lack of updates. Dont use that theme...you will ruin your phone.

See these are the responses that are crippling our community. Answer the question with some information and good will versus sarcasm and venom.
Not everyone was born with ability to to distinguish technology and have adb commands hard coded in their brains. Not singling you out man I see it alot. And I can imagine a noob at his keyboard hands trembling in fear of imminent flaming for asking a question.
Yes I encourage the "Search" and I encourage people to fully read threads. I also discourage mobs with torches and pitch forks when some asks a question an advanced user finds silly or whatever. Again just satin this as a blanket statement. Community and unity guys.

Does Nexus S ROM work on Nexus One
Does Droid ROM work on Droid 2 or Droid X or Droid Pro or Droid X2.... just cuz they slightly have the same name doesn't mean it will.
Some common sense helps.
The Does Nexus S ROM work on Nexus S 4G questions I understand, since they are basically the same thing except for the GSM/CDMA radios. But to think Nexus S and Nexus One is alike is just crazy.

The Nexus one is a 3G GSM HTC device. The NexusS is a 3G Samsung device. The NexusS4G is 3G CDMA EvDo rev A and 4G wimax Samsung device . The hardware is very different thus radios, kernels framework, systemui, settings and other system software will be different in order to accommodate each devices respective technology.
Hope that answers your question.

Nexus S is made by Samsung. It's not really a Galaxy S variant either.
Why would you want a Nexus S ROM on a Nexus One? I thought ROM is all about OS?

I know what goes into making a ROM. There dev section looks neglected. Found that a lot of the devs don't bother do update there topic if a URL goes down and hell, quite frankly even some of the ROMs don't explain what upgrades they have. One ROM I even found people complaining it was all in Spanish and even the latest MIUI was taken down because of problems.
Go check out the dev sections for the Samsung Captivate and look in any of the ROM topic and you'll see how detailed they are and most even have screenshots.
That's all I meant. This is getting beyond off topic from my original question. Got my answer and that's all I needed to know. Done posting here. Thanks.

[Q] Perfect Rom?

So i've been on a quest for the perfect rom and i found it. However it is for the international version of the gsIII only. This was dissapointing. I was wondering what would be the closest to this rom i could get:
FoxHound Rom
http :// android. appstorm. net/reviews/roms/foxhound-rom-for-galaxy-s3-the-best-of-all-worlds/
Remove the spaces because i cant post links due to the 10 message limit.
It has all of the features that samsung gave with their stock rom. All of the motion stuff. -A must for me.
It is an AOSP looking rom but with alot of the samsung crap... basically all i want. Although the launcher is a question too. I want something very customizable.
I dont know if my battery just sucks or i use the phone too much but it seems rather tiny. Longer run time is seeked.
I looked at SynergyRom and CleanRom but wasnt quite sure...
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if I look like a noob. The truth is that I am one when it comes to the gsIII. Came from the X2 which had a much smaller community.

No it is not possible because the international s 3 has a quad core processor while the US phone is dual core. There other reasons but that is the main reason. As for the op's thread there really isn't any "perfect" ROMs out just really good ones as all have flaws he can try the ones ported from sprint.

Sure the kernels wouldn't be interchangeable due to the different chipsets, but porting the ROM is most definitely possible. Although not really worth spending time on.
