You need adb installed and the commands are in the second post of this thread. >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1046306
Click thanks if I helped.

I haven't tried it but I cant see a reason why the same dd wouldn't be possible on the phone.

Use root explore to create a tar file of /system and copy it on your pc

The best option would be to nandroid backup.
You will get the tar files automatically.

[I9003] Polaris Office from Galaxy S2 working on I9003

In the world where everyone is looking up to gingerbread, I am putting Polaris Office (of Galaxy S2). It has much more features than thinkfree plus working on I9003.
Pre-requisites:
1. Your phone should be rooted
How to install:
Method 1:
1. Extract the files from compressed file
2. Copy apk from app to /system/app
3. Copy files from lib folder to /system/lib
Method 2:
1. Extract all files in a folder (i use winrar; hence extract to <folder name>)
2. Run the batch file (it will ask for su permission. Ensure to allow that)
Backup your data, i wont be responsible for any loss

It'll will FC if there are no lib files or not copied properly, try again by mounting your system directory and copy them again(using Root Explorer) or use adb to push the files.

A complete noob Help me

Guys I am a complete noob
and i am bored by the orignal look of android
I need something new
My friend also has an android phone. So he rooted that deodexed, new rom
So i need to ask can i root this phone ?
Which rom is the best to install after rooting ?
i upgraded my phone to xxkpq with my friends help. Now i dont know what to do?
So please help me
hey dude u can try to install. a good kernel with cwm (clock work mod)....a very important tool to customize your phone....then download a custom rom of your choice from the development section (see that ur firmware matches that of the rom) ....follow the instructions there and you will have a full customized phone as most c-roms are pre rooted and deodexed .....when you learn more and get used to the phone you can try miui or cm (but that is for later ...) .......since ur on kpq u can try Poseidon or vurrut roms (Ive used them and they're nice)....
Its Simple
i am using Poseiden's ROM
How to Install it :-
Backup ur apps, Contacts, Messages.
a) U'll need CWM (i use [CF-Root] by Ganesh u get here for XXKPQ)
1) Flash this *.tar file as a PDA in Odin
b) Downlad Poseiden ROM from here or here
1) Copy this zip file to ur external SD Card
2) Goto Recovery Mode Install the zip file from ur external SD Card
3) after installation setup will reboot to recovery mode, wipe Cache & DALVIK CACHE
Done

[Q] Samsung Keyboard

Hey Guys,
is there any possibility to install the Samsung Keyboard, because on Purumod 2.4 is the Keyboard replaced with the Siine Keyboard. But i don't like it very well.
If possible with a "how-to install" comment
Daniel
You can download apk file of Samsung keyboard from Dharam's collection of stock apps or copy stock keyboard from another ROM to your sd card from /system/apps/keyboard .
Then copy the apk and paste it in /system/apps/ using root explorer.
Reboot your phone and enjoy the Samsung keyboard
Search in xda for Dharam's collection of stock apps

Alternative= Try this: If you have tar file of any froyo ROM then simply extract it and in the system apps you will find the keyboard.
Copy and paste it in your/system/apps

3-How to replace recovery like what xbsall did (in bootv21e.bin) ??
4-In V20a.kdz of P880 Optimus 4X ,, when I run :-
Code:
LGExtract -kdz ****.kdz
Then I get a *.cab file ,, extract it then find a *.DZ ?? In P920 kdz I find *.wdb (then extract it into *.bin) .

1. In all o3d partitions layout it's mmcblk0p6
2. Just open the edited img in hexeditor select everything copy it then select in the bin from offset to size off given by the extract tool and then paste it in there
3. Same as above open rec.img in hex editor select and delete the recovery file in the bin(everything is given by the extract tool) and paste in the new rec
4. Don't know much about dz files but take a look in l9/7/6 not sure which one there's a kdz Rom and the guy linked to a tool which extracts dz files if I remember right

It's to check if your backup is corrupted and to save you from unnecessary reflashing. If you're not planning to modify your backup , you should't disable it.

Berni, there's a few developer-related questions I wanna ask before I develop my first Android firmware ROM.
1. Is even a Java file context-sensitive? And if it is, should a simple change be checked against the other source that links to it?
2. Is it difficult to add in some framework / library outside the Android source codes?

To 1 no but most libraries are built of pretty much code (libwebcore is some gigs big) and are difficult to port to other android version(opposite is libwebcore which is pretty easy). Many libs should work on same android versions but many don't
