This may be another stupid question.
But is there any update on the IMEI? Also is the only way to back up the IMEI from the thread down below? Is it possible to back it up by making a nandroid backup?
No, yes (with QPST), no.

I read in one of the threads that if your IMEI is good (mine is, have yet to flash a ROM), that you could simply copy the EFS Directory from your phone to the SD card, etc. I copied the entire EFS folder to the internal SD card and also to my PC. Two questions:
1. Is this all I will need in the event I somehow lose my IMEI
2. When I look in the IMEI folder inside the EFS folder it is only 3 bytes, doe that really contain the IMEI
3. (ok, I lied about the 2 questions) I read someplace that if my bootloader is unlocked (which it is), I didn't have to worry about losing the IMEI?
Thanks
This is the way to backup IMEI. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1852255
Unlocked or not, you can still lose IMEI on any reboot.

Is this the best way to back up now? I remember that there was once a method using dd. But it's didn't always restore correctly right? Are there any other methods?

This is the standard way to backup your IMEI. The old method is not as comprehensive, read the OP of the method that you quoted and you will see why this way is more complete.

Hi. I recently tried to do an adb nvrestore of my phone because i was experiencing some trouble with touchwiz crashing. I had previously done a backup after rooting my device but after the restore my phone tries to boot repeatedly and will not enter recovery mode. I can however access download mode. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated.
Section 5, but why would you do the nvrestore for that? That's only if you lose your imei.

No buddy that's a backup for the losing imei issue we were having. Now did you happen to make s backup in clock work mod recovery, that's how you backup your system.
Either way we can get you back up again. You'll be fine, but for now on read a lot unless you're rich because you can brick this phone beyond repair.

Okay at least you have a titanium backup. Fastest way to get your phone back is follow that guide I linked. There are prerooted stock ROMs linked in it. Use one of them, follow the instructions exactly. When done download titanium and reinstall your apps. You'll be on stock rooted jb.

I restored a backed up rom in the recovery and now the phone wont turn on. It wont even enter recovery mode or download mode.
It doesn't do anything? No sign of life? What recovery are you using? You where trying to restore a nandroid?

Did you restore a Nandroid backup meant for a different phone?

I'm pretty sure it was AOKP.

I'm using the AT&T version. the post in the T- Mobile section was about UBUNTU.
So my n4 should be arriving tomorrow and I will immediately unlock and root it. But my question is, is there any way to use my tb backups from the phone I have now on the n4?

Sure. Just move the TitaniumBackup folder on your current phone over to the N4. Install TB on the N4 and you'll be able to restore. Probably best to only restore user apps.
Oh, and you probably want to post stuff like this in the Q&A forum going forward.
Thanks so much!
