This forum just amazes me!

today is a good day.

Just tried it out to make sure it works and success! It also only has 1 giant button so all the people that refuse to read before they do anything literally cannot mess it up!
Also note that even though it says device status unknown it still worked.
Sent from my Rooted, Synergized (1.7) and now unlocked bootloader VZW S3!

Wow is is app for real, all you have to be is rooted and use this app?

I'm laughing out loud that there's an app for that! Thanks for the info.

I just Unlocked the Bootloader on my Phone using this app. This is the easiest thing I have ever done. No more custom unlock icon screen when rebooting, and it boots up alot faster, which is proof that this worked.

Yeah I noticed that as well. I think maybe its because it skips the screen showing the custom unlock icon, saving a few seconds. IDK.

Its also not checking for signatures etc....so a few steps are skipped leading to the faster load times

Verizon locked bootloader

I guess I should have done more research before I switched to Verizon but Is this something that they do to all their devices?
I just got the phone yesterday and I'm already regretting it..
Those restocking fees are not sounding to bad right now

In my opinion since there is ways to load a custom kernel there is no reason to trade...there are lots of people working on unlocking the boot loader and I would like to see it unlocked. But, for now the ways that we are working around this issue are around and a good solution for now

It depends on your definition of downgrade because honestly I'm trying to figure out what makes this phone so popular?
It can't be the design because this is not at all a nice looking phone.. It can't be the ui cause touch wiz looks like a ten year old designed it
The galaxy nexus with jelly bean I heard is very smooth

There are fully functional jelly bean builds. It's popular because it's a beast, and development is excellent despite the roadblock (which no longer matters).
This is the first time that I own a galaxy s phone and I bought it because of all the hype it gets.. There are like a thousand commercials about this phone
I truly want to know what it is that makes it a beast.. I'm not trying to be a troll or whatever I'm just curious?

I guess my main disappointment is the bootloader
But I understand that it's a newer device so it will take some time..
I guess what I will have to do in the mean time is use widget locker for that horrible lock screen and find a good launcher
Any recommendations

Take a look at Nova Launcher.
Ok so I rooted the phone and it did make the phone a bit more interesting
Now to wait for an easier way to install custom recovery and roms
Tapping that from another galaxy
It's super easy to install roms. Go to the market and download ez recovery, go into easy recovery and install cwm 6.0.1.0. That's it's now go find a tin you like boot into recovery and flash the rom. Of course make a backup first and stay away from asop roms imho. To many people had issues. Flash synergy, beans or cleanrom. Those are all safe roms

Installing custom recovery and ROMs doesn't get any easier than it is now. EZ recovery app, as said above, for custom recovery and clockwork recovery for ROMs mods etc.. If you screw up there is always ODIN. As long as you don't brick the bootloader (just don't flash bootloaders) ODIN should fix near anything I believe.
Thanks for the advice guys I really do appreciate it

Ta very much mate, I wasn't going to flash it. I do have it downloaded though and I am deodexing right now.
There is some crazy stuff in the /system/app directory!!

To name just a few.
I think I'll let the albino port multi window support. I'll poke around for stuff we can scavenge without too much man hours on my end.

You just use Odin which is pretty simple and the nice thing is it will upgrade to JB 4.1.1 but preserve all your apps and settings.

Uhh be careful. I'm waiting for my s3 back now (tomorrow!), but I used Odin a couple times since I was not rooted and one time I had somewhere to be 1/2 hour after the thing finished and the thread said it wouldn't wipe data, but it did and I was royally screwed phone-wise. Assume it's gonna wipe data and be happy if it doesn't.

Before trying to do anything, read read read and read some more. The problem you are having is easily fixed but you should definitely have read up on some of the dozens of guides out there as to what to do after you have rooted your phone

Are you S-Off rooted? Turn your phone off (unplug it too), after it is fully shut down hold power+volume down until the bootloader comes up. At the top it will say S-On or S-Off, report back.

Dude you forgot your recovery....I'm not sure how though as it should be in all instuctions posted. Recovery is the second most important thing you should understand, of course after knowing and understanding root.
Don't do it because your friend Bob has a rooted phone and says you will get tons of free apps ( this is not CRApple OS ) do it because you understand the benefits of having a rooted device.
