[A510] how to add printer - Acer Iconia A700 and A510

I've CANON MP540 attached to PC via USB and sharing it on WIFI...but with my ACER A510 via AIRPRINT can't find it.....help?

The tablet will not find a shared printer off of a computer. They are designed to print off of a printer that has its own network connection.
The only way I've found to make this happen is to use Chrome and put your printer on Google Cloud Print then use an applicable program to print that way. I tried this for about 2 hours then gave up. Good luck.

damn it really lame.....

Printer Share in the market can find just about any kind of shared printer on your network. Not free, but worth every cent.
Google cloud print works well too but you have to all chrome to run in the background all the time

I think wireless print is not for all printers.
http://global-download.acer.com/GDF...&Step3=A510&OS=a09&LC=zh-cht&BC=Acer&SC=TWN_1
download the 'Acer Print Support Printer List' and check it out.

Note: Support for Canon PIXMA inkjet will be added in DirectOffice™ Mobile Print V4.0 (due for release 1Q2012). This will increase the number of supported Canon printers.

Print? on the GTablet?

Anyway to print on the GTablet? Since it does have a USB port?
I don't know about the USB port, but you can print from Android if you have a wifi printer. It seems like all large printer manufacturers have apps in the market for wireless printing.
I too would be interested in knowing if anyone has found a viable printing app that works with all my networked printers.
You can always install Dropbox and print that way.

i installed printershare (print droid) .. it does however require a desktop client. however it works with even my old lpt laser printer

Yes i highly recommend printershare use it all the time not only to print from my droid but also to print from my other computers in the house to the printer in the office. doesnt even need to be a wifi printer

dont have my g tablet yet hoping to get it for christmas however on my droids printer share app if you open the app theres an option that says "web pages" you just put in the full url of the page and print that. you can get the full url by just holding down on it and going to copy (at least on the droid you can, not 100% on the g tablet yet since I cant test it) and than going to printershare and long pressing to paste the link.
I thought you would be able to as well, but it doesn't seem to work on the web browser in TnT.
Does anyone know if there is something that can be added to the web browser or another web browser for the G Tablet that offers cut and paste of the url or print on a page?
Opera browser allows text selection and copy

Sorry for the noob question, but ...
Ok so my husband has his desktop, through which he can print to either of our printers that we ended up with (one is wireless and the other is USBed to his desktop pc). The tablet is currently my only computer. So in our setup, does your comment mean that my tablet would access these printers through his computer, via WiFi? Also, where does this printershare/printdroid need to be installed (I mean, on both computers or just mine or just his)?
I have a printer hooked up to my wireless router on an ethernet cable. I use PrinterShare and can print from my tablet or my phone to the printer through the wifi. PrinterShare also will also recognize and print to my dads wireless printer
How much do you have to pay for printershare ? It looks like you have to pay for over 20 pages for the client on your main computer..and like a monthly paypal amount or something ??

Honestly all I do is print to the printer from my phone or tablet. I paid once for the premium key. I don't have a computer connected to my printer at all so I don;t know about the client and I haven't paid anything else but the key once. Maybe there is more cost involved than I know about or use.

Printershare doesnt have a driver for your printer? that doesnt make sense, i have a very old printer and the system finds whatever printers are installed on my desktop and runs off them. is the printer just hooked up with a network cable? or is it plugged into a desktop?

Printershare does not have a driver for my printer also It is a Canon MP620. It easily connects to my other printers at work, but not the Canon at home. A real pain, since I cannot connect at home. Since I do not use a desktop at home, I do not have the ability to print from home. I contacted Printershare about the lack of a driver, but got no response.
Sees my Canon MP620 series printer, its just offline right now...

[Android-All] Printing To a Local Network Print Server?

At home, I have Netgear PS110 that drives a couple of LPT printers. We use this so that all of the computers at home can print to a common set of printers.
Is there any way to get my Android devices (right now, a Nexus One with Cyanogen and soon a NookColor rooted) to print to this print server?
I did a Google search and found some cloud-based solutions but they require a client running on an always-on Windows machine. I searched here on XDA and didn't see anything that specifically covered printing.
Can someone point me in the right direction on this?

I use PrinterShare and it works great with my networked/printer setup. They have a free version and a $5 paid version. The free version did not work for me but the paid version worked great. It does not work with every printer or network setup out there, so you might want to "loan" the paid version before you purchase it. I have it up and running on my HTC Incredible and Nook Color.
Thanks for the tip but PrinterShare looks like it requires a client software running on a PC connected to the printer.
My printers are not connected to a computer -- they are connected to a dedicated print server.
I too am looking for this
I am also looking for the same solution. I need some sort of print utility that can print to an IP address used by my print server. When I ran Windows Mobile I had a very nice utility called PocketClipPrint that worked well this way. Unfortunately, Field Software, the vendor, is not interested in porting it to Android.
I have found no other offering that doesn't require an installed program on a running PC in the loop. Did you ever find a solution to this?

If you print with them from the computer then they are connected. Instead of a USB cable they are using a network cable. All of that happens in the windows system and should be independent of the PC app.

you don't seem to get how network printers work. there is NO computer connected to my printers. There is a little device from Netgear (specifically, the PS110) that connects over LPT to the printer and the other side is connected CAT5 ethernet cable.
There is no computer involved directly in the printing.
I use printbot with my ethernet printer, don't know if works with print servers.
Try, it's free.
any progress?
i also have a printer connected to my home lan (internal network and wired)
i can from my laptop which is connected via wifi to my lan print to it. no connection to the internet is required. if there isn't an app that can do this i'd be quite shocked! ?
Printbot worked great with my cannon pixma mp500 on android . Works great for network attached print servers that require ip address . I got it working with tomato firmware on router im sure itll work with ddwrt as well . I just wished it could do websites!! Atleast docs will print.
Printbot (free) works for android Htc evo 4g
I have windows 7 32Bit, a netgear WGPS606 printserver attached to a Hp Officejet K5400 (Standalone no computer attached) all this running on my wireless network (router = Netgear WRN2000), I downloaded Printbot (the free Version) right after seeing this post, tried it and had it printing in less than a minute. Thanx for the advice, this is exactly what I was looking for. Hope this helps anyone else looking to print from their android devices.
Printed from an Htc Evo 4g.

Bee tee dubs, Printershare does not need a PC client. It can print directly to any network printer. Says so right in its description, and I've tested it as well.

Printbot worked great with my HP laserjet, ( netjet interface) .. Happy to find this solution.
Well it seems i Can't get it to work properly. I stay conncted within the same WirelessNetwork, my printer is attatched directly to my router with a built-in printserver ( TP-LINK TL-WR1042ND). They use some sort of a wireless printer controller software that comes on a CD with the router. I contacted TP-LINK support describing my problem and asked them if there was any chance to print directly from my PC not using any of their software. Suprisingly after a month of wait time i got a reply. A guy over there explained that there is no need to use this software and I can print by adding a TCP/IP port over to an exisiting printer and hook it up to my PC that way. Also he said that print server of my router has exactly the same IP Adress, which wa smy biggest concern and i couldnt retreive that info anywhere. So when i received that reply i tried printbot once more providing it with my IP adress of the printserv then selected the connection method to LPR as support guy suggested, named the queue as suggested to lp1 and tried to connect. The error im constantly getting is Connection Refused failed to connect to /192.168.0.1 (port: 515). Any ideas how to solve this?

So, were you able to get it to work after all this time? I am now using the same router as you, the TP-LINK TL-WR1042ND. I was forced to get a new router, and this interestingly had "network printing" built in, so I got it. I can make it print with my PC, so it works somehow. Any luck with the Android device?
Try Google cloud print, It'll work tplink print server or even just an old usb printer:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ji6h0r0-jA0&t=5s
Any printer can be used to print. It's easy. But remember your documents are sent to the cloud.

Also You can try Print Share It has local mode, i.e over lan without having to use cloud or internet.
This lets you share your printer already installed in your pc with your android.

[Q] #Anyone able to print?

So how does printing work? Anyone able to rec an app?
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.pauloslf.cloudprint
I've not tried this yet personally, I've got too many other things to try at the moment, but it looks like it might work nicely. It uses googles cloud printing service. Report back if it's any use please.
Well I setup the cloud printing app and it works a treat. But then I have a HP wifi printer with eprint capability so it was very easy to get working.
Print share working fine as well to my network printer

you can print with a networked printer by setting up google cloud print, but i think that computer has to always be on.
I use Printer Share. It rocks! Well worth the money, and you can print to a bluetooth or widow enabled printer. Easy to configure and decent results. Toil be able to print almost anything, i.g., photos, pdf, browser, etc...

I noticed a reviewer said that app charges to print. After you buy the app then you have to pay either per page or for a subscription. Is that false? Either way 13 bones seems pretty high for an app that simply allows me to print.
And while Google Cloud Print seems pretty cool, I'm looking for a solution that doesn't require my PC to be on. It's been off more often than not since I got my Xfrmr.

Got it. It's just not one that supports e-print. It doesn't seem like printing to a wireless printer should be very difficult which is why I'm surprised the only app I can find that does this costs $13 (and possibly more).
I am still looking for a print solution. I don't need to print from remote locations, but it would sure be nice to print to my network enabled Epson color laser directly from my TF. If Google is serious about the business user or taking over the netbook market print services are an essential part of this.

Print Spooler Has Stopped
" Print spooler has stopped.'
Is the message I get when I try to use Google Cloud Print .
I have cleared cashe , uninstalled then reinstalled , and it's still the same thing.
I can print the test page on the Google Cloud Print page on my computer but every time I try to use it from my
phone that's what I get.
Any answers or fixes ?

[Q] Print via usb

Hello everyone,
I would to print with my transformer directly from the USB without pass by wifi or internet.
Is it possible ?
Thanks for your help
Nope.No printer drivers and stuff. Maybe later on. Use CloudPrint, it's free and easy to set up with PC/Wifi

there are no printer drivers for android.
someone with programming knowlege defenatly could create one.
but there are printer drivers for linux.
i dont know if an android device that run a linux distrubution could recognise an atached printer or even install the driver, but until some one develop a specific driver for our device i think thats our only posibility to print over usb
You can go ahead and buy yourself a networkprinter (WiFi or LAN) and use PrinterShare to print your documents.
Printers
You can also get one of the new HP wireless printers and use the eprint app to print to it, you just need to be on the same network or connected to the internet for it to work. It does work pretty well though I must admit.
Might sound stupid (I *rarely* print) but since Android is Linux based, and we can install e.g. Debian in a chroot. Technically isn't it possible to use CUPS, LPRng, or whatever as per normal? I would also assume given e.g. "Samba File Sharing" that such could be wrapped up into an app and have a simple activity to feed a file path into it, +/- the pain of driver's and many people having crappy printers. Or are the USB drivers far to ripped down for that to even possibly work without a NAP?
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
well i managed to get a custom ubuntu image running and see if it will auto detect the atached printer but no luck.
I ll try to install the linux drivers for the printer and see what happens
+1 for printer share It tirelessly and remote prints.

There are two ways you can do it, the first method requires you to have a pc with chrome browser installed and an app that needs to be downloaded from Google play. The way it works is, you set up using the chrome browser and use the tablet to print by using the print share app. I cannot remember the exact details however if you search this forum, there are instructions on how to do this. The downside to this method as far as I know is that you have to have a pc connected and switched on. Not sure if an app that I brought from Google play will allow you to print directly. Also I have noticed on the market that there are Epson and HP apps that connect to wireless printers so what I have said above may be linked to printers that are not wireless but connected to the wireless network via a cable connection.
The second option, the one I use is that you purchase a mobile printer. I have brought the HP Officejet 100 Mobile Printer, this printer is very portable and connects to my tablet via Bluetooth and has worked flawlessly for me until now. It has a rechargeable battery that last for a good few hundred prints. The print quality is also very good. The downside is unless you will be doing a lot of printing in different locations, it is an expensive option, I bought it about a week ago for approximately £178 in the UK.
Wow, i had no idea about the portable printers with rechargeable battery. That is insane!
Alabamba, look up cloudprint from google play store. And printershare. And search for your manufacturer's printer in the play store.
I have a canon mp560 - i use canons printer app to print pictures. For word documents i use printershare and for pdfs that i need to use duplex with i use cloudprint.
Some of the newer printers in last year or so do can just be wirelessly hooked up to a router (or through usb->hub to router) ; no need for computer to be on with chrome setup. But the list is few so far for these. Older printers can be used with cloudprint just like HasC stated through hookup with chrome, but the computer needs to be on to use cloudprint with these older printers.
If you have an HP printer there is an app called HP ePrint Home&Biz. It gives you the ability to print to a wireless printer if your tablet sees the printer but also allows you to create an an email address that you can send the thing you want to print to that will automatically forward it to the printer (if the printer is turned on) from any device.
