Hey guys! I have my D2G which is running rooted stock. I have had a problem since rooting where the phone always boots into recovery when it turns on and I have to click reboot system now for it to boot into android. I tried shell commands to reset bootmode 4000 to default but the phone wasn't having it, it said permission denied. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Is the only way to unroot and start over? I might actually prefer that but I can't even find decent instructions on how to do that. Could I just go to reset factory defaults in the phone menu? I don't think that would get rid of the su binary though.... I obviously am a little familiar with SBF as it was my only means of getting here but could someone point me into the right direction in terms of unrooting as well? Thanks a lot!!
Uninstall and reinstall ClockworkMod Recovery.
su has nothing to do with booting into CWM.
(That's if you have CWM installed.)

How would you go about uninstalling and re-installing CWM? I just meant that doing a factory reset in android wouldn't get rid of the binary, not in CWM. It's really odd the way CWM works on this phone because it doesn't seem to occupy the recovery partition like it does on normal phones because the stock recovery still exists if you hold down x+power.

Start Droid 2 Recovery Bootstrap.
Press Bootstrap Recovery.

If I just want to remove clockwork completely and return to like new, how would I go about that? I have searched around the forums and haven't found much when searching for "unroot" or return to stock. Otherwise I would not try asking all of this. Thanks!

I've been looking around the forums and I cannot find anything that can help me. I am using a rooted droid 2 and trying to install a custom rom. I have Rom Manager and the Droid 2 bootstrap, and I have been reading how to install it. My problem is that no matter what I try, my phone just reboots normally, never into Clockwork Mod recovery. I tried reinstalling both apps, and flashing cwm numerous times, but it does the same thing. I have yet to even get into the recovery menu. Its driving me nuts!

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I am having a similar issue. I have a rooted LG Optimus One P500. I tried to install Clockwork Mod Recovery using Rom Manager, it tells me it flashed successfully. When I tried to "Reboot into Recovery" it reboots as if I am turning on the phone for the first time (like a factory reset), with all the setting/data etc gone. It never loaded the Recovery.
Any idea what's going on here and how do I fix this? I don't suppose the bootstrap will work with Optimus One?

I verified root as my TB, root explorer, and other apps now work. Problem is. the CWM install doesnt work for some reason. No errors and reboots back into the OS. I tried to boot in to CWM and says its loading recovery and nothing happens.
So, I was just curious if there was an ADB method to installing CWM or if anyone can tell me a fool proof method of installing it.

I have religiously followed the steps needed to install cwm. i.e. I downloaded the nitro.. bootstrap -> then on recovery reboot installed the J.Y. Daddy Global cwm zip as well -> then denied superuser permissions to bootstrap. This is all shown in http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1511616.html - I just wanted the first two steps...
However after doing these when I reboot my phone it does not boot into cwm. It just boots into the stock recovery thing. I dont understand what I did wrong or whether this is a unique case for some reason.
I was thinking of allowing superuser access to bootstrap and then reinstalling the JY Daddy cwm but I don't know if this is safe? And I dont want to go thru the pain of bootloop.... I havent touched it coz I thought would ask the experts what the way to go about this is...

This may sound simple but did you hit "bootstrap recovery" when you first opened bootstrap?
Yes I installed the JY daddy after I did the reboot recovery through bootstrap.

also its safe to reenable su for bootstrap
Ok thanks for letting me know that bootstrap is safe to reenable su permissions - i just hope this does not conflict with cwm if it was successfully installed the first time..

it could be as simple as rebooting again. I think it takes 1 full cycle before it actually sticks.
Just did it again. Rebooted. Granted permission to bootstrap then reinstalled JY Daddy and then denied su permissions to bootstrap and rebooted and no cwm recovery came up

reboot again without changing anything. it may take a few times for it to take effect.

Reinstall bootstrap, hit 1st button, then 2nd, reinstall cwm on boot (global), then reboot, deny su to bootstrap when it asks, then reboot again.. should stick then.. then you can uninstall bootstrap app if you don't want it.

Just did that i.e. reinstalled bootstrap and then cwm and rebooted 3 times but still nothing...this is truly puzzling...
I had a problem with cwm not sticking on stock 2.3.6 and it was because there was init support. I had to flash an init zip to get it to stick.

Ok so basically can you tell me if this is what i should do:
1. grant su to bootstrapper.
2. reboot in bootstrapper recovery.
3. Flash the init zip thing you linked me to. (also are you sure this will work on atrix 2 coz it doesnt mention in the link - also is it the cwm file or it is something else to enable me to install JY Daddy??)
4. Now install JY Daddy.
5. Deny su to bootstrapper
6. Reboot.
Is that right? Problem here is I dont really know what init means...
Yes, it's for Atrix 2. Boot into recovery, flash the init zip with cwm, reboot, deny su in the bootsrapper, and install jydaddy.

Just did this - booted in bootstrap recovery, installed the init zip - then rebooted and reinstalled jy daddy - then denied su to bootstrapper - then rebooted twice but still cant get cwm recovery to boot up...

Are you sure this "stock recovery thing" is not simply recovery? It looks pretty stock and basic... though it says clockworkmod recovery somewhere on the screen... if it stops somewhere besides just straight booting to your homescreen, that most likely is cwm recovery mode...

No it doesnt say clockwork recovery anywhere and that stock recovery I get only my manually turning on phone in recovery mode...

Should not need this if on stock rom... in fact, I've never had gps issues on stock or victory rom with cwm on boot.

Hey guys.
I just got a very nice condition used TF700T. I am trying to get recovery to install so I can flash a rom. I used the Transformer Toolkit to unlock it, which worked, it says device unlocked when booting.
But I absolutely cannot get it to Root, or flash recovery. If I try using debugfs root generic 2.3 it fails to write everything. If I try to flash any recovery with the toolkit it downloads and says flashing but just sits at about 25%, it boots my device into the screen that says usb fastboot mode with the three icons that say RCK Android and factory wipe. If I click the RCK it says rebooting and then goes to android mascot installing icon, but then the one with an X and error appears. What on earth am I doing wrong?
Is it the latest 4.2 update locking me out? Can I downgrade? I just can't get anything to root or flash recovery no matter what I do. I feel a little defeated being a long time member and 3 phone habitual rom flasher :crying:\
Any ideas what i'm missing?

What custom recovery are you installing? You may want to try with fastboot or adb method to flash your custom recovery which doesn't require rooted device, good luck....

Well I tried TWRP 2.7.1.1 I believe and also CWM , and Phil's custom touch CWM that all three are options to flash with the all in one ADB Toolkit app via USB from windows (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2094746)
How do I do the Fastboot method? I read about that, but have no idea how the process goes. I'm ok with skipping root and going straight to recovery and a rom because I can just flash superuser after if the rom isn't rooted already.

I wanted to try an app I used to get twrp onto my LG G2 for the first time called "flashify" that worked like a charm. I just installed the app, downloaded the twrp file and flashed it then it reboots to recovery, but it requires root as far as I know. Does unlocking the boot loader allow things like this?

Unlocked bootloader is allowed you to install the custom recovery so you can install the custom ROM, I believed..... You can check this guide out to see if you can setup your fastboot/adb. It is very easy to follow for the beginners, good luck....:fingers-crossed:

Once you unlocked the bootloader you can flash a custom recovery and after that - the sky's the limit.
Flashify works great, and it is a wonderful tool as long as you're able to boot into Android.
My problem with Flashify and Goomanager and TwrpManger is that it saves users from setting up a proper ADB/fastboot connection from PC to tablet.
As long as you can boot Android, these apps are great. But what if you can't? Once the tablet doesn't boot it's so much harder (and often too late) to get the correct drivers installed for ADB and fastboot.
So if you flash your recovery with any of those apps still make sure you have access with ADB and fastboot from your PC.
You will regret it if you don't - I (almost) guarantee it.
That's an excellent point. Thanks. I did actually get the Fastboot method to work. The problem was that I kept clicking into RCK recovery when I ws supposed to just leave it on that screen to push twrp instead. I got recover and just got done doing a backup. I'm about the flash my first rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2672751). Do we need to do factory reset / wipe data/system etc? The instructions on the ROM post say to just flash it from twrp so I'm guessing it has a built in wipe feature during install?

The instructions in the OP actually say that you have to do a full wipe (Factory Wipe) in TWRP coming from a different rom base. Which would be you unless you had a version of CROMBi-KK installed prior to this.
It's the default selection under the Wipe menu in TWRP. Just do that and then flash the rom and your ok.
Do not use the Factory Reset option from Settings or the Wipe Data option from the BL menu! Do this in TWRP only!

Just wanted to update. KK 4.4.3 rom flashed and booted in. It's much nicer. The stock was a little laggy, and KK breathed a lot of new life into my ancient single core 1.0 ghz Galaxy S that I use as a music player so I figured it would help make the tab real nice and snappy too. Gotta go now, much fun to be had!!
Without taking any backup, i accidently wiped/formatted my Nexus5( Cache partition/system/data/persist/firmware) using ClockworkMod
My Phone won't Boot now, it's get stuck on GOOGLE Screen.
Can anyone please help me out Step by Step.

Since you wiped /system, you have no OS installed. So, either use fastboot to flash a system image, or transfer a ROM over to it and flash it via recovery. No biggie. I do recommend switching to TWRP from ClockworkMod though. Is ClockworkMod even supported anymore?

This guy is on the money. You've wiped it anyway, might as well just flash a fresh factory image and start from scratch, nice and clean.

I advise you to download Nexus root toolkit from Wugfresh. After you installed it (assuming you already have adb drivers), under "Restore/ Upgrade/Downgrade" click on "Soft-Bricked/Bootloop" and then on "Flash Stock + Unroot". The appliciation tells you what to do next.

And I advise against using toolkits. If you rely solely on toolkits, you'll never learn how to fix problems such as this. It's best to familiarize yourself with fastboot, you'll find that it is nowhere near as difficult to use as it seems, and you'll be equipped to get yourself out of pretty much any situation imaginable. Not to mention that toolkits are the culprits for many "Help! I bricked my phone and don't know what to do!" threads.

i tried installing TWRP over Clockworkmod but seems it does not support need to find a way to uninstall clockwork 1st..

You don't need to uninstall CWM first, just use fastboot to flash TWRP with this command-

No need to uninstall just:
fastboot flash recovery recovery-filename.img if recovery is in the same directory as fastboot or
fastboot flash recovery /path/to/your/recovery/recovery-filename.img
if the recovery is under /path/to/your/recovery/
You may drag and drop the file to you terminal or commandline...

There are also apps that allow you to flash a recovery image from within the OS. I prefer that because I keep my bootloader locked and flash the stock recovery for a little extra bit of security when I don't need to flash anything.
