I googled (Google partners setup) and I cant find out what it does, I see it running all the time in the background. Can somebody tell me what it is? Can it be disabled? Also what else is safe to disable for better battery life?

Here it says it's safe to disable:
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/te...ions/16220-startup-services-safe-disable.html
But I've seen other places say that it is used somehow with syncing you account data, and as such should not be disabled. Personally, I would just leave that one until someone else has a more definitive answer.
As far as other battery savings though:

I know this app is out there somewhere, but I'm unable to come up with the right search terms and I'm hoping that someone reading this thread will know what i'm talking about. So here goes:
I need a program that basically acts as a scheduler for which services will be turned on and off.
For instance, If I know that i walk to work between 7:30 - 8:00am, I'd like Bluetooth=On, Wifi=Off, Phone=On, etc. Once I get to work between 8 and 5, I might want this program to turn the bluetooth off, turn 3G data off, etc, but then once I get home turn wifi On, Bluetooth back on, etc etc. You get the idea. Basically a program that I schedule when certain connections should be available, which is really just a way to conserve maximum battery power. I saw a program that did exactly this during the waiting for the fuze to come out, but I must have forgotten to bookmark that page.
Any help would be much appreciated!!
Hi,
You could try Communication Manager Pro (shareware). It can be found here http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/System-Utilities/Enhancements/Communication-Manager-Pro-CommMgrPro-37327.shtml
I tried the previous version 2.3 and it had some issues with randomly disconnecting bluetooth so for me it wasn't a keeper. Maybe current version has this bug ironed out.

Check out SPB Phone Suite, it has a lot of scheduling features for com and sound settings
I use SPB Phone Suite, and it works as a dream.
You can also set a profile that is linked to your calendar, so you can make the phone silent when in a meeting.
It also support hardware-triggers, like turning on a profile when charging, another when headset is connected and so on.
Thanks for the replies gents. I think SQB might have been the one I'm thinking of. If there are others people use, keep them coming. If there's a free tool that will do this, even better, but i suppose $20 might be reasonable depending on what else the software does. I'll check it out.
There is a free tool: WirelessTime.

No, not used yet. If you use it, let us know how it works for you.
I used to have a BB Storm2, with that I had an app that would shut off my radio if my signal was very low and not check if I had reentered service for a certain interval. This greatly improved the battery life for me. I have been searching the market for awhile cant really find anything like this. I was wondering if anyone knew of one that would work with the evo.
Also I was wondering if there was one that would auto switch wifi on and off depending on location. I found one for that but it did not work correctly.
On my G1 I used to use a program called Power Manager it's a paid app but they have a free trail version I believe. It had all kinds of different things I could set to turn on and off depending on location or power percentage.

Is there a way to use Map it function on phone without having Location on all the time?
Having Location on drains battery pretty much and having Map it function available is important.
Can't have one without the other... just make sure you untick the "Get results faster" if you wanna save on the battery.
Is it just me or Find my phone doesn't work without "Get results faster"?
Using Omnia 7
Interesting...first I never managed to open the page to ring, erase or find the phone. I always get that "ooops..." error. Also, once I checked that option to get it faster and closed the settings it disappeared and now I only have on/off switch in find my phone settings? Does anyone else have those issues? BTW, I have an Omnia 7 with Mango.

I couldn't get it to work correctly without the it on. By the same token, I haven't really seen any adverse affects on battery life with the option turned on.
I can't make that thing to work. Map would show position of my phone from 3-4 hours ago. When I click on "Refresh" says it can't find the phone at this moment. I'm not sure how this works but problem might be with my data plan.
My wifi keeps turning on by itself.
Does anyone else have this issue? I am on the stock rooted ROM. I wonder if I installed something that does this. It's driving me crazy!!!
Arrrgghh.

You rang? lol.
Yes, I did at first when on stock. There's a setting, it is escaping me exactly where it is - but I believe it's in the 'advanced' wifi settings. Let me see if I can find the thread real quick.
This is a "feature" - basically the concept is, the phone tells you when you are near AP's to save $$$ on your cell data plan. Stupid.
Edit - there's also battery saving apps that could be doing this... just FYI, reading other forums they seem to indicate that rogue apps could be doing this - one user in particular mentioned some app called Snapdragon BatteryGuru...

I wonder if "Keep wifi on during sleep" was causing the issue.
Also, I do have that snapdragon app...but it hasn't gone through the 3 days of "learning" to actually be functional. If it doesn't stop happening from changing the setting on Keep wifi on during sleep to NEVER...then I for sure will uninstall the snapdragon app and see if that helps. The snapdragon app seems to only do what Greenify is already doing anyway. Hibernate apps.
Thanks for replying man! You are a great dev.

I'm just learning, but getting better at it for sure .
As for the issue at hand, I don't think that keep wifi on setting is the one I am thinking of...
Unfortunately I don't have a device to look at right now to tell you the exact setting, and I am having trouble finding the thread where this was discussed (I thought there was one at least)...
However, did you check the settings on that Snapdragon app? Make sure there's nothing configured there to enable wifi. Also, I'm not real familiar with all these battery saving apps - I would use caution, they might be like antivirus software on Windows - don't run more than one at a time, or else they will just butt heads.
My last android phone did not have this problem. I connect to my home VPN while at work. Ever since I got this phone the connection just drops every 10-20 minutes when the phone is sitting idle, or when I'm just listening to a podcast or something.
I don't know if it's phone related or android version related but I can't find any information on it. Has anyone else experienced this?
I tried looking through the power save settings to see if there was some option cutting data when the phone went idle but didn't find anything.
thoughts?
Thanks
check to see if battery optimization is on for your VPN app....Settings > Battery > (3 dots menu) > Battery Optimization > set your VPN app to Not Optimized. Honestly not well versed in how the VPN config works, but the activity you describe sounds very much like Doze (battery optimization) is kicking in and killing your connection. For example, I turn off battery optimization on my exchange mail app and other apps that I want to ensure stay active even if my phone is idle.
I have added VPNdialogs to the don't optimize list. I couldn't find anything else that was VPN related, but this doesn't seem like the proper app I need. Unless anyone knows what the VPN app is called?
Thanks for the suggestion, with any luck this will work.

no worries, good luck with it. you may wan tot explore some of the VPNService config information in the AOSP/Dev site here. This probably starts to get into the connectivity/network aspects of the optimization, and it's hard to say how those services are isolated from general phone connectivity and the battery optimization (that is, does turning off optimization for one of the potentially related services cause a lot of stuff to go out of optimization by detraction, which could hamper battery life significantly but not in a way that's immediately obvious). You could guess and check, but another method may be to reexamine your VPN app of choice. You could try free options like OpenVPN Connect, Open VPN for Android, or Speed VPN (all free) and see if you can run your vpn through them and control battery optimization at that app's level to better success. There's also VYPR (VYPYR? spelling?) that's free up to a limited amount of data usage and could be used in P.O.C. manner to test things out. Again, I'm not a VPN expert, but I did tinker with a few of these when I was recently in China (to no avail, but not due to the apps, due to China being very Chinese/Anti-Google).
That said, we still don't even know if this is Doze/battery optimization related, but it's worth eliminating as an obvious potential culprit. I fear I'm not going to be able to help much beyond this, but have used android as a "super-enthusiast" for many years. I can also ask my buddy at work tomorrow who's a network and security freak, he might know...
Just an update, putting vpndiags out of battery optimization did not affect the issue. It's still disconnecting regularly. When I find time I'll look through the dev link posted above.
In the mean time if anyone else has any ideas I'm all ears.
Just a random thought, but did you remember to check the always on box when you configure the VPN setup, so that it transmits a keep-alive packet across the tunnel to prevent disconnection?
Yeah I couldn't figure out what that button was doing. When I check it the connect button greys out. I tried checking it but it seemed like it wasn't doing anything. I'll play around with it a bit more. Thanks for the suggestion.
