This will be my update thread for my 1st public Rom. It's going to called Wizard Life. Why? Simple, Wizards never die. They always fly high, and one your a Wizard. Your a Wizard for Life. Every Rom has a cool name, and I feel thats pefect (Plus I Love Workaholics/Mail Order Comedy).
So whats Wizard Life? It's what I like Sense to be. Keeping all the eye candy from Sense 3.0, but keeping it lite on Ram. It's going to only have the cool Sense parts, and none of the Networking Apps (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) It's only going to have the needed Widgets and Apps. This will also become a Sense 4.0 clone once I learn Android better.
Also this Rom is kinda a base to learn all the basics of Android. I want to know how to decompile, recompile. Theme, tweak, and make it worth flashing.
BUGS
So far here be the bugs I need to iron out.
The biggest is Wifi, it just wont work well.***Found Fix, disable Always on Mobile Data
The camera is the Sensation Camera, and is limited to 5MPX/720p Video.Got the Doubleshot camera working, but it's laggy
Battery Life sucks. Woke up at 5 today, it's 8 now. I'm at 50% battery.Make sure to charge up to 100%. Flash, wait 10 Minutes. Reboots. Stats should work
NOTES
After looking at the base (Rubix 4.0), and comparing to Virt. Unity. I feel like Undead Kanged this Rom. The biggest indication is the default Scene is Virt. I can't say for sure, but Meh. Somebody figure out if they can Xo
Future Add-Ons.
I found a nice guide how to port any Sense Rom, to ant Sense Phone. So once I get used to the waters called Android, I want to rebase the entire Rom on Android HD.
I want to get Landscape Rosie working, and also a new tweaks app. If anybody knows any good Sense 3.0 Tweaks apps (Like LeeDroid) Let me know. Also if there's any tweaks, mods, or add-ons you feel should be on this Rom. Let me know, I'm open for any tips.

Oh, this Rom is such a Kang of Virtuous Unity. It just has a modded build prop to reflect the Doubleshot. I know I'm kanging, but I'm not claiming any of the base work mine. I'm just trying to learn, and bring Sense 3.0 to us.
You are headed down the right path with a great purpose though. Sense 3.0 will be nice too and we will have you to thank for that....all the while you will be learning. What you LEARN, nobody can ever take from you. :good:

Right now I'm not doing a port. Taking the easy way and just learning some theming, editing, blah, blah. You know. Once thats on check, I want to try an Android HD port.

Sense 3 is FUN and I love it. A port from the Sensation would only need sized down to like .880000 or something to that effect with m10 tools ( vts ). Don't base your work off a banned well known kanger. Make your own. I can say the dsixda kitchen will get you a booting Sense 3 port from the pyramid to doubleshot using an ruus ROM.zip and just using option 19 ( size is the issue ).
Landscape in Sense 3 is achieved by using the flyers Rosie.apk but it has issues of force closing when going into and coming out of landscape. Also some of the widgets sizes are off by a long shot.
When it comes to tweaks for Sense 2.1-3.0 Romanbb started a great project that other devs picked up and took farther. Mik done one hell of a job cramming all of what he did into them Sense versions.
***some info on things I use for Sense 2xx-3xx***
apktool is a great tool to decompile and recompile the apks. Just make sure you apktool if com.htc.resources and apktool if framework-res.apk ( these commands install resources )so you have the needed resources to work on them apks. Also apkmanager for decompressing fusion.apk after its themed to maximize RAM usage is a good idea. Notepad++ for editing smali if your a windows user ( make sure to use unix coding in the settings to avoid invalid characters ) and causing an error during recompile of the apk. Also make sure. If your trying to do smali edits the apk should be a deodexed apk. Uhm I know there is tons more I forgot along the road or during this post haha

Nah pc wise you should be good to go. The tower I loaned my parents is a compaq sr2010nx= freaking turd! With 1gb RAM. When I get home from work I can stop by my parents house and grab you as many links as I can to guides and stuff for different smali edits for little mods and stuff to get you in there tweaking some things.

Also not all smali is the same, sometimes it needs to be adapted to your own code, so it will give you something that needs changed from one value to the next and in the guide it says look for xxxxxxxxxxx whole line but sometimes it will be xoxxxxxxxx in your code for the same method. Id have to go home and compare some smalis I've adapted to the doubleshot to give you a clearer idea but I think your smart enough to know if all the code matches but 3 characters then that's the line that needs edited

Eh its not so bad. If you look at most of the roms the main difference is themes.
You can use apps of the market to do that. We have cm, virtrous, sense and aosp roms. Undead has some on rootzwiki as well.
Why dont you try making your own its not to hard. More of a time vampire than anything.

Start by going to Themes & Apps and reading my guide on how to customize the lockring.
It'll teach you how to extract - edit - replace some of the files in an .apk file.
Part 2 and 3 of the 3 part guide will teach the rest of how to decompile-recompile apps, I know it's based around graphics, but the same principle works for other files as well.
Part 2 is what's going to teach you how to get at the xml, smali an so forth files in the compiled .apk file - now that i've slept this week I should be able to have it done in a few hours. (yea...just woke up, so gotta get the blurries out of my eyes.)
If you want to make a Sense ROM, go download Pauls de-odexed stock ROM in the dev section and use that as your base. That's the base Bulletproof is built from.
Give me a few hours and i'll have a pretty good roadmap set up for ya.

The thing is like was said more than half the ROMS are still just different themes...they are all Mysense ROMS....if someone could make a Kernel around here....we would have those..no one has made a stable over clocked kernel yet....and if someone could start working on a Sense 3.5 Kernel we could get a sense 3.5 ROM....my programming language skills is lacking but we have devs maybe they have know how to work on kernels...
Hey all im in the process of porting my own Sensation ROM over to the DoubleShot, its based on the 1.50.531.1 RUU, anyways the HTC apks need resizing like:Rosie, Music Weather ect, so far i have Rosie basically resized but its just a tad off, so i was wondering if i could reach out to some of you more experienced Doubleshooters and see if i could get some tips on where to go from here ill get a pic posted in a second, along with the Rosie.apk im resizing to see if someone can take a look at it and maybe join in on the fun

alright the only things i have changed in this Rosie so far are m10editor changes to C:\Users\Home\AppData\Roaming\M10Editor\Rosie\assets\port\scenes\Rosie_Screen.m10 and C:\Users\Home\AppData\Roaming\M10Editor\Rosie\assets\port\scenes\Rosie_workspace.m10 ive made these changes to match another resized rosie(virtuous unity) and this is the end result, i dont know if its something im missing or not

Its a Sensation Port :3 Isn't the whole purpose of that for sense? Also, a Sense 3.5 would be easier to port. The HTC Sensation XL. Sense 3.5 and WVGA. No resizing.

Well honestly if i wanted Sense 3.5 i would have chose that as my port, im perfectly fine with with what im running now, i put the thread up for resize help not for tips on what you would do if you knew how to do it thanks again

in Rosie, there's a navbar m10, going down to the second topmost container you'll get to a list of 4 or 5 subelements. One by one click them, and set for the Scale factor on all of them:
0.88800001:0.833:1

Im going to try this out, i havent changed any scale factors at all just changed like size and position of the 2 m10s i listed. Although im posting this before my laptop boots i cant remember even seeing the navbar.m10 in the rosie but then again i wasnt looking

Okay so there isnt a navbar.m10 like in the Sense 3.6 Rosie you use so im guessing ill have to plug that in somewhere else lol...oh well ill change my cars thermostat and mess with Rosie after work tomorrow

There are navbar pieces, but always in conjunction with something else...so i dunno.

I know very little with resizing, as I'm learning slowly. But I always found it helpful to look deep into other simular roms. Like the Unity Sense 3.0, and figure out what is different in that rom. Then apply those changes to find a proper resize.

I forgot to mention this lol so i edited the second post...but i have made some changes in my rosie to reflect their changes and thats my end result thats why i asked here in the open to see if someone knew how to "tweak" it that one little bit

So minus the Smart a** AOSP user comments that im pretty well used to or that cute little let me google that for you link which wasnt any help with a resize so epic fail there.....i hope the offset of the widget and the touch is something i can mess with here within the next few hours

I wish I could help more, at best I can compile from soucre. Why not pull apks from other sense 3.0 Roms?? It's helpful if you really wanna get it out by a certain time.

Its all good i cant do that whole compile from source thing lmao, slowly ill get this thing done, like i said screen touch for rearranging icons and what not is slightly off still( i fell asleep) and im going to see whats ahead of me in the HTC apks lol

What I read was sense 4.0 only goes to phones that are made for ics and the phones that get updated from gingerbread to ics get sense 3.6 which is pretty much the same but that has to do with hardware issues

Yea YoungCorruption is right, the EVO 3D, Sensation etc are all getting Sense 3.6 with "as many Sense 4.0 features we can include" says HTC.
New phones will get Sense 4.0, and this is mostly because of the ImageSense chip in the new HTC phones which current phones do not have.
Honestly I will be suprised to see the shift get sense 3.6, but no matter what eventually their will be ports of Sense 4.0, Sense 3.6 etc. Hell the One V Leak just showed itself ill probably post on general later
Kinda weird that no one has started the porting. I know there isn't a compatible kernel source out there yet. I'll be looking out for one, if I come across one I'll let you know! Thank you for helping our Shifts get sense 4.0!

Not that weird. It's considerably more difficult, if not impossible to port a Rom without a Kernel.
I'm trying to port. Crossing fingers. Lol. Hopefully I can get it. I've tried many different sense roms but maybe this might be the one lol. I hope I can get it up and working for everyone

So we have put a small porting team together for the mytouch 4g slide. it includes strapped365, weekendsR2short, Riyal, and myself. Problem: What is a good name for the team? Any suggestions?

I'll take the time to throw out my idea that ROM names could be named after the highest bidder. Could be a nice way to get some funds for work well done.

i was thinking something like that too. i just couldnt come up with anything on my own so i opened the thread hoping to stir up some creativity

Alright guys I don't have my phone running yet as of the moment but I already got a heads up from the team I ported this ROM from So for sense lovers there. I got something for you. Matt should know what ROM it is
Also a feature packed kernel for sense ROMs is already done. And I'm confident to say that it's alot better than virtuous kernel performance and battery efficient wise. Got a normal 4hours screen on time on my stock battery while it only took 2 hours on virtuous kernel
I'm also working something AOSP related to jb 4.2 but it's still not working and got halted when my phone broke so that should be my 2nd project after I get my device up and running again.
Regarding 1080p on ICS. It has been months now since I'm slowly working on this and up to this point the most I could get on 1080p recording is a 1080p video that can record already but most of the time it becomes black screen. Plus it hangs up the camera driver where it doesn't close and causes massive battery drain/heat on your device. I know this project is moving but there's way too much time spent and I don't have any other kernel developers to ask help with. So I'm not sure if I should continue with this or probably live with having 720p recording on doubleshot. I don't really need 1080p recording anyways since I rarely use my phone as a video recorder.
I will also be updating the TWRP recovery for doubleshot.
Regarding 4ext recovery madmaxx already gave me permission to post a port of his 4ext recovery so expect it coming also soon for doubleshot.
Holy Smokes Riyal! When you come back you come ROARING BACK! You've been a busy guy. Sounds like you have lots of goodies to spring upon us. I've seen some of that slick kernel work you do & have no doubt that what you say is true AND a sense port to go with it is phenominal!! I'm dying to get to the point where I might actually take on a Sense port & actually suceed. (I'm especially anxious to see that 4Ext Recovery)
I have a port right now myself that should be ready for a release as soon as I can get the camera & soft KB cooperating with me.

I actually really like what that kernel offers. I will probably remove the SBC though as I feel that does more harm than good. I'll keep yall up to date on how this turns out. Lol

Porting kernels....hmm have fun man. I know in order for me to bring the speedy up to at least a 3.x kernel the touch screen drivers along with like audio/video drivers and all that would need added to the msm7x30 source. Along with all the board files and I'm sure there is much more.

Well if you do an AOSP kernel for the msm7x30 it's most likely jam packed with goodies from other developers, but Sense kernels are rough because there aren't many common kernels for your board. A good place to look for sense kernel hacks would be the G2 section and mdeejays git.

Yeah I broke SU somehow. Me and sparksco was getting ready to get my 32 bit Linux machine to build android and I was going to build a mako kernel but when I went sudo xxx it went sudo does not exist in xx/bin so I'm all like well fudge.
The last thing I did on it before it broke was go to shut down, as it was shutting down we lost power because someone decided they wanted to run from the police and take out a pole less than 100yds from my house. Well it ain't been right since and I can't find my 2 dollar thumb drive to reinstall lmao AHHHHHHA
