I am trying to diagnose my alarm manager service high wakelocks, which i found out thanks to betterbatterystats. I only have my s3 and asus transformer for computers, no windows machine. I am on synergy 1.7 and imoseyon kexec kernel beta 0.1. I read dumping alarm to a text file yoy can diagnose this.
Here is what happens

I got it, just got to change to sdcard with cd.. enter then cd sdcard enter

I have a Samsung Captivate running the I9000XWJM2 Firmware on the stock kernel with Samset 1.7 ROM installed. Rooted with busybox. I've noticed that intermittently my ADB Shell will just quit. I was tinkering with the userinit.sh hack to a2sd my phone when it stopped giving me any output. Is this a known issue and is there a repair action other than reflashing the phone?
Here is an example:

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. I really don't want to rebuild my phone again.
My root had somehow broken. Re-applying the root update.zip seems to have repaired the issue.
so I'm new to scripting, and I have a TON of lg optimus S's to root for work. So I figured I'd write a script to make life easy. I know all the shell commands are correct as if I manually type everything in it works. What happens is it gets through gingerbreak exploit and when the prompt returns # - everything seems to go to hell.
Here is my script I am using. I'm using Kubuntu 11.04 writing it in Kate, name of my script is Script2 and I'm executing it in bash via $sh Script2

I've tried with out sleep command and also with out "&" at the end of gingerbreak, and when I do that and it returns # it seems like no commands will work, even if I type them in it returns just a blank line with out #.
With that current script after sleep 32, it returns #, few seconds later it tries to mount and I get (including the end of gingerbreak exploit).

So something interesting, I've been playing with this for awhile, and I took everything out past the
adb shell /data/local/tmp/gingerbreak
it seems if I run it as
bash$ adb shell /data/local/tmp/gingerbreak
vs
bash$ adb shell
$ cd /data/local/tmp
$ ./gingerbreak
when # is returned, the first option won't take any commands its like it hangs, if I type out the next command it will just return a blank line with out $ or #, I have to forcibly end the process by CTRL+C and it will return me to bash, if I do the second option it works and I can enter the next command in and it takes and returns me to #. Anyone know why this is? I'm pretty sure this is the problem.
I would happily use the second option, but I'm not sure how to get the script to take any android shell commands without a "adb shell" infront. If anyone knows how to get around this, that would be awesome =)
Hey, I installed BT5 arm on the Motorola Xoom wifi and i would like to know how to completely remove it from my device. My device is rooted and i have tried to delete the whole BT5 file with astro file manager and absolute file manager but neither of them worked. I was wondering if anyone knows another way of doing it.
I tried deleting it with commands in terminal emulator but its a read only file. Wouldn't chmod help with that? If so how would i use it?

Go read the backtrack 5 thread. There is a link on how to remove it. That really should be the first thing you check before asking

I couldn't find it. I think it might be a tiamat BT5 img and i have the remover tool but im not quite sure how to use it. I just flashed it like i would do with a rom but it says installation failed. what would i do to fix that?

Common knowledge - system must be set to RW
Here is an alternate route- manually
How To:
ADB Shell Folder Removal - (we will use BT5 as an example)
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
1. Connect Xoom to pc
2. Boot into recovery
3. Toggle to internal storage as /sdcard
4. mount /data
Enter adb shell via pc
(cd to file location) in this case BT5, is in the sdcard directory

cd /sdcard #
(once typed, you will be at.... /data/media prompt)
if after the above command and you are not at the /data/media prompt start over)

rm -r BT5
(BT5 is the stubborn Folder)
*Side note ... This works for any other stubborn folder that you want to delete as well...

I looked up on google how to mount system rw and thats where [email protected]:/ # mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system came from. then i tried rm -r BT5 after that and it was still denied. so i tried to
do chmod 777 BT5 to give all permissions and then when i tried to remove it again it was still denied.
I looked up the permissions of the file and its set to rwxrwxr-x. so chmod apparently didn't work
Hopefully someone can point me were to look for this. When ever I turn on my tablet as the the homepage is loading I am getting a notification "Warning logging to file is enabled" I do not remember setting any apps to log but, I could have accidentally hit a button without knowing because the touch is so sensitive.

You can try the following commands in adb shell or a terminal program:
su
cd /data/dalvik-cache
fgrep -l 'logging to file is enabled' *.dex

Great, so now you know it's the BubbleUPnP app which produces this message.
My problem is that when I run the terminal as super user it's can't read sdcard it's give me nothing .

Strange behaviour try adb shell then su then ls /sdcard/ or you can try other way rather then /sdcard.. Do ls on root folder there is another mount point of sdcard as well like /dev/sdcard or /block/legacy/0 something like that.. Dont remembered the excact partition name but it is there..
