I am not responsible for any steps your take in modifying or following the steps described below. This is simply a guide to assist you with restoring your phone. If your break, drop, ruin, brick, wipe, slap, chop, honk, ding, open, slave or unock your phone and it does not respond how you expected sorry your phone, your responsibility.
What is described below worked for me.
Ok, after searching for hours or nearly days for a way to unroot and get back tot he stock rom that allows for Over the Air Updates (OTA's) I finally figured it out after piecing together tons of threads on related subjects.
Anyway here it is...
On my nexus one I was using a CyanogenMod Rom and wanted to revert back to stock because of a few glitches I didn't like. I was presented with tons of problems when trying to do so. This is what I did.
For dummies version:
GET THE NECESSARIES
(1) Downloaded the stock ROM FRG83 from Modaco HERE
(2) Unzipped this to a folder I created on my PC (I named it Platform-Tools)
(3) Downloaded and Installed the Android SDK. This comes with ADB and driver for your phone which is a must need. HERE
(4) Copied all files from the android/android-sdk/platform-tools folder to the folder I created earlier in step 2.
(5) Downloaded fastboot command (Available in attachment below)
(6) Downloaded flash_image.zip (Available in attachment below) (Optional - flash_image.zip only needed if using ADB method and is not described below or recommended)
UNLOCK BOOT LOADER
(1) Unlock Boot Loader (Yeah you have to do it). If not done you will get an error saying unable to verify signature when trying to load the img files.
-Boot in to boot loader by Powering on your phone while holding down the trackball
-Connect phone to your pc using a usb data cable
-on the boot screen it should say something like "fastboot usb" after doing so
-Type fastboot oem unlock
-Read the warning and accept it
(2) Boot in to boot loader by Powering on your phone while holding down the trackball
(3) Should say unlocked at the top
PHONE UNLOCKED AND READY TO FLASH YOUR PHONE TO STOCK
(1) If not done already Boot in to boot loader by Powering on your phone while holding down the trackball
(2) Connect phone to your PC with a USB Data Cable
(3) From your PC command prompt change directory to where you save your img files and the fastboot command stuff
(4) Type The Following In Sequence from your PC Command prompt:
fastboot flash boot (YOUR DIRECTORY)\boot.img
fastboot flash recovery (YOUR DIRECTORY)\recovery.img
(5) Boot in to recovery
-Select bootloader from the menu
-Select recovery from the next menu
(Wait, a triange with an exclamation mark appears)
-Press the power button along with the up volume button
(Boots to the android recovery menu)
-Wipe everything
(6) Reboot in to the boot loader and Type The Following from your PC command prompt In Sequence
fastboot flash radio (YOUR DIRECTORY)\radio.img
fastboot flash system (YOUR DIRECTORY)\system.img
When done reboot and enjoy your fully restored un-rooted back to stock nexus one and enjoy all your OTA Updates as they are released.
If there is something I missed or needs correction let me know and I will make necessary revisions.

Anybody that needs to download and flash an Original ROM obviously didn't follow the first rule of flashing. NANDROID BACKUP YOUR STOCK ROM FIRST!!!
To return to stock for OTA updates all you need to do is restore your Nandroid backup and reboot once. That's all.
You can revert to the ICS bootloader with the .30 firmware following instructions below only using .30 firmware instead of the JB Firmware.

Resolution (DPI is set to 160 by default and changing it through an App or directly with build.prop makes no changes) - FIXED

Installation
Method 1 for Locked/Unlocked Bootloader with Stock Recovery and/or Root
1. Power off your tablet
2. Download the latest TF300T firmware (XX_epaduser_10_4_2_9_UpdateLauncher.zip) from Asus site based on your SKU location (eg. ww, US, etc): http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T&p=20&s=16
3. Right click and extract the downloaded .ZIP file (XX_epaduser_10_4_2_9_UpdateLauncher.zip) onto your desktop
4. Rename the extracted .ZIP to "EP201_768_SDUPDATE" (without the " ") and copy it to your MicroSD card
5. Insert the MicroSD card in your tablet
6. Boot your tablet into Recovery by pressing and holding Volume Down AND Power for 5 seconds
7. A message will inform you that you have 5 seconds to enter Recovery; press Volume Up before the 5 seconds expire
8. At this point the device will go in recovery and should start updating your firmware
Method 2 for Unlocked Bootloader with Custom Recovery and/or Root
1. Power off your tablet
2. Download the latest TF300T firmware (XX_epaduser_10_4_2_9_UpdateLauncher.zip) from Asus site based on your SKU location (eg. ww, US, etc): http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T&p=20&s=16
3. Right click and extract the downloaded .ZIP file (XX_epaduser_10_4_2_9_UpdateLauncher.zip) onto your desktop
4. Copy the extracted .ZIP (XX_epad-user-10.4.2.9.zip) to your MicroSD card
5. Insert the MicroSD card in your tablet
6. Boot your tablet into Recovery by pressing and holding Volume Down AND Power for 5 seconds
7. A message will inform you that you have 5 seconds to enter Recovery; press Volume Up before the 5 seconds expire
8. From your recovery menu press Install and select the .ZIP file (XX_epad-user-10.4.2.9.zip)
9. Wait until the install process ends and then restart your device
Method 3 Advanced using Fastboot
1. Power off your tablet
2. Download the latest TF300T firmware (XX_epaduser_10_4_2_9_UpdateLauncher.zip) from Asus site based on your SKU location (eg. ww, US, etc): http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T&p=20&s=16
3. Right click and extract the downloaded .ZIP file (XX_epaduser_10_4_2_9_UpdateLauncher.zip) onto your desktop
4. Right click and extract the new .ZIP file (XX_epad-user-10.4.2.9.zip) onto your desktop; you should now have the blob binary and META-INF folder on your desktop
5. Copy the blob binary to your platform-tools folder (C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools or C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools)
6. Plug tablet into your computer
7. Boot your tablet into Fastboot by pressing and holding Volume Down AND Power for 5 seconds
8. A message will inform you that you have 5 seconds to enter Recovery; press Volume Down twice to select Fastboot and then Volume Up before the 5 seconds expire
9. Open a command prompt and cd into your platform-tools folder; or press right-Shift on your keyboard and right-click the platform-tools folder and click "Open command window here"
10. Enter the following command in the command prompt: "fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash system blob" (without the " ")
11. Once the previous command completes enter: "fastboot -i 0x0B05 reboot" (without the " ")
RECOMMENDED but Optional Steps:
If you are using Stock Recovery it is advised to Factory Data Reset or Wipe Data both BEFORE and AFTER the Firmware Upgrade
If you are using Custom Recovery it is advised to wipe ALL partitions
Unlocking the Bootloader
You can use the ASUS Unlock Tool from the ASUS Support site to unlock your bootloader. Despite ASUS saying it's for ICS it works fine on JB. Detailed instructions to come.
Recovery (TWRP) **Requires Unlocked Bootloader**
1. Turn your tablet off
2. Download the latest TWRP blob: http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/105
3. Rename the blob binary (openrecovery-twrp-X.X.X.X-tf700t.blob) to "twrp.blob" (without the " ")
4. Copy the twrp.blob binary to your platform-tools folder (C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools or C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools)
5. Plug tablet into your computer
6. Boot your tablet into Fastboot by pressing and holding Volume Down AND Power for 5 seconds
7. A message will inform you that you have 5 seconds to enter Recovery; press Volume Down twice to select Fastboot and then Volume Up before the 5 seconds expire
8. Open a command prompt and cd into your platform-tools folder; or press right-Shift on your keyboard and right-click the platform-tools folder and click "Open command window here"
9. Enter the following command in the command prompt: "fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash recovery twrp.blob" (without the " ")

2. Plug tablet into your computer
3. Copy the SuperSU .ZIP (CWM-SuperSU-vX.XX.zip) to Internal Storage
4. Turn your tablet off
5. Boot your tablet into Recovery by pressing and holding Volume Down AND Power for 5 seconds
6. A message will inform you that you have 5 seconds to enter Recovery; press Volume Up before the 5 seconds expire
7. From your recovery menu press Install and select the SuperSU .ZIP (CWM-SuperSU-vX.XX.zip)
8. Wait until the install process ends and then restart your device
9. Now your tablet should be rooted
F.A.Q.
JB seems to be laggy. Any suggestions?
Yes, Wipe!! Even if you've performed a Factory Data Reset or Wipe Data I HIGHLY recommend unlocking your bootloader, installing a Custom Recovery, wiping EVERYTHING and installing the firmware again; preferably using Method 3.
Is there any way to change the Brightness settings?
Yes, through Third Party Apps. The most popular seem to be Lux and Custom Brightness Settings
Are we "SOL" having the TF300 Bootloader when the Tf700 JB Firmware comes out?
Personally I'm not too worried about the bootloader.
Either the official JB for TF700 will have the same bootloader as for the TF300, or it will be a newer version that we'll be able to flash.
The bootloader doesn't seem to be looking for a device check or else the 300 loader wouldn't have installed on the 700.
It really only seems to be doing a sig check for OLDER firmwares, not NEWER.
Why don't we have an Official TF700 JB Firmware yet?
I don't know, ask ASUS. I'm as flabbergasted as you are. We've only found two issues so far!!
UPDATE UPDATE: Kernel configs are also amazingly identical. Most new options available in the JB 3.X kernel aren't even set. Only things that stick out are that CONFIG_SENSORS_ISL29028 (Light Sensor driver) went from yes to not set. Also I keep seeing NFC code EVERYWHERE which is disabled in JB stuff. Does the TF700 have NFC or is ASUS pulling from one base? <-(Hmmm...) CONFIG_NTFS_FS has also been set to yes in JB so we should check out NTFS formatted SDCARDs. Also fun fact; CONFIG_ISO9660_FS (CD/DVD Filesystems) was set to yes in the ICS kernel. LOL. Everything we need is there, somethings just stopping it. It's funny looking through the code you can tell it was written by two different teams as most times configs contain the same info, only in a different order. Makes it hard to compare code though; jerks. No wonder it's not officially out yet.
UPDATE: I just finished comparing /system between the TF300 JB blob and the TF700 ICS blob. 98% of the config files are similar or are only off by a line or two. Issues with screen resolution and brightness seem to be stemming from kernel. I'm gonna see if I can rip the ICS kernel out and transplant it in JB or recompile the TF300 kernel using the config from ICS. They jumped from 2.6.X to 3.X so who knows...

Nope, just going off what most people named it.
To get root back, its failrly easy.
1. Install TWRP using fastboot. Just check their site for the how to do. Make sure you have fastboot and the drivers on your PC
2. Download SuperSU-CWM pack from the SuperSU topic on XDA.
3. put the SuperSU pack on your SDcard internal or external.
4. Flash that pack.
5. Boot up and open up SuperSU.
6. Update binary and done
Maybe nice to note what is broke if you use this flashing methode.
- Brightness controll is broken. Its on full all the time
- Everything is a little bigger then usual, Or I am a little blind
For the rest I added the tweaks to the build.prob from the tips topic and I am running super smooth.
And I just downloaded that update for the TF300 from the asus site. Extracted it so I got the update zip thingy. Placed that on my SDcard. Wiped all and just installed. Did not rename a thing. And it worked just fine.
Then I did the steps from above and thats it.
Rooted and unlocked with TWRP running JB Me is very happy

anyone know what causes a data transfer failure with the error "too many links" when using fastboot to flash?
i was able to get the boot blob to flash, but when i try flashing the system blob it crashes with that error. btw i'm flashing things separately because i don't want to have my bootloader updated.

Actually I didn't, or I wouldn't have asked it. If the answer is "you can't flash this system blob with the old bootloader", then saying so would be an appropriate response.
Also, since it could be caused by something else like an inability of fastboot to flash extracted system blobs without the header file, or maybe corruption in the blob caused by using a windows binary of blobunpack, I feel my question is quite valid.
edit: I ended up doing more research and it appears that even if I did get the system blob flashed, it probably wouldn't boot without the updated bootloader due to the 3.x kernel. Even the custom JB roms for the 300 make you update the bootloader on that tablet first.
So, I'm going to put this on the backburner until there's an official bootloader update for the 700 or until someone already on the new 300 bootloader successfully flashes back to the current one.

I would much prefer it if we could install a custom ROM from our bros over at the TF300 forums.

I'm pretty sure you need to be on the new bootloader for the stock rom / stock-based roms to work. I've been reading through the tf300 forums and so far I haven't found any posts about anyone being able to revert back to the ICS bootloader. One guy suggested this is due to signature checking, different permissions, and possibly an altogether different partition table.

AFAIK, the bootloader can't alter the partition table on Tegra units. In fact, the bootloader is itself a partition. Only way to change the partition table is with nvflash.
Hopefully the TF700 JB Update would be able to flash over the TF300 JB Bootloader, otherwise we will stuck at this "not so perfect"-build for a very long time!
I miss the DPI changing I'm not blind and everything is so ****ing big on the screen.

You can Install it on your TF700T
I'm running it right now, but I will go back to stock JB because ASUS Settings bring a force close.
All other things are still the same, backlight doesn't work, anything else is fine.
Hopefully someone sees something helpful from this and can make a safe stock tf700 update.
Seems devs here work as hard as asus does.

After doing this Your Phone This Will BeFactory Reset
1) Download The backup i made here Sorry this has a Custom Boot animation rest is stock.
Extract it to a folder on your SDcard dont just copy it there.
Im going to Assume everyone at this point has ADB and Fastboot installed if not follow the instructions here then come back
2) Download TWRP recovery to your PC
Download Stock Recovery for later use.
Powerdown Phone
Press and hold (Power button + Camera Button) at the menu use volume down until you get to AP Fastboot Press Volume up to select it
Hook Phone to pc via usb cable
Open a command prompt from within your SDK/Platform-tools folder
install trwp
Code:
fastboot flash recovery TWRP_Recovery_Filename_you_downloaded.img
Unhook Phone from PC when Finished Flashing should only take 1 minute or less.
Hit power - device turns off. Hold vol up + power, then release power. When you see it turn on, release vol up. You should now be in TWRP!
Now first thing Press Backup and make a backup of your current setup to SDcard.
3) Now somehow move the Backup you downloaded and Extracted in step one to your TWRP backup folder on your SDcard
will be something like
Make a new folder for BACKUP_NAME dont overwrite the backup you made
Code:
TWRP/BACKUPS/SERIALNUM/RESTORE_MY_PHONE/files_here
4) Power off Phone
Reboot into Recovery (Power Button + Volume Up) Choose Restore button this time choose Restore and Choose the Recovery the you downloaded.
When done flashing your back up Choose reboot from the option choose Bootloader.
Hook Phone to pc via usb cable
Open a command prompt from within your SDK/Platform-tools folder
install Stock recovery
Code:
fastboot flash recovery Stock recovery.img
Unhook Phone from USB after Flashing and press Power Button and phone will reboot.
If all went as planned you will boot up to a factory reset phone thats ready to download and install the OTA with no problems

I got this to restore my phone to stock no problem. I followed this post to a T twice and upon updating my phone goes ape$hit every time.
So frustrated with Motorola right now.

So... Don't update? I'm still on the original firmware, I don't see any benefit to updating.
Are you taking the update with any toggle mods, root (I.e. Superuser.apk installed), deodexed framework, battery 1% mods, power menu mod, custom boot logo, animation, etc? I never had problems taking the update with stock rom/recovery, unrooted, with no mods installed. I used this guide to restore stock when I was softbricked and bootlooping and the update worked after restoring stock recovery.

My filename is recovery.img. Is the storage limited? Previouse I had CWM now installed TWRP without deinstall, could this be a problem?

Thank you! Fixed soft brick after a bad system.img flash.
Still wont update. i get a dead android logo after about 30 seconds into the update, then reboots to "The software update failed!"

So I want to clarify what you wrote above... are you saying to follow the instructions here (first post in this thread) but use the recovery.img from one of the zip files in that other link (i.e. asanti_c_sprint-user-4.1.2-9.8.2Q-122_XT897_FFW-5-6-release-keys-cid9.xml.zip)?
Do I need to use "RSD Lite" for something? You didn't mention it in your instructions, but it's mentioned a lot in that other thread...

You can use the RSD Lite file to return to stock the method in this thread was back before we had working RSD files

I am VERY new to this custom ROM stuff, and I am a bit confused. I have an ASUS TF300T Transformer Tablet. It has 4.2.1 loaded, build is JOP40D.US_epad-10.6.1.12.3-20130416. If more particulars are needed, I can provide.
I have rooted the tablet (I used motochopper to gain superuser access), thinking that would allow me to load a custom ROM. I was WRONG (as most of you probably know). I want to load a custom ROM (CyanogenMod), and also not use the ASUS preloaded software. I want something with less bloat, is faster, and something I can customize at will.
So....I have read a ton of posts on this, but I can't seem to find a step by step single, simple process to accomplish this daunting task. Simply put, I need step by step instructions that can get me where I want to be. At this point, I'm not so sure I could be more confused! LOL!
Anyone who has done this, or is experienced with this, I could use some major league assistance!
I want a faster, more "open" tablet. I also know I don't want to brick it. I definitely don't need a 300.00 paperweight!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need a custom recovery! download twrp here: http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/tf300t
DOWNLOAD THE ONE THAT SAYS "openrecovery-twrp-2.5.0.0-4.2" and flash it with fastboot in cmd " fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash recovery twrp.blob" make sure you rename the blob to "twrp.blob"
*update your info your bootloader is "10.6.1.15.3" instead of "10.6.1.12.3"

I was confused at first too. I think they need to change the wording in the tutorials. They say "If you're on JB bootloader, this twrp, if you're on 4.2 BL, that TWRP" and i was just thinking... WTF, both of them, 4.1 and 4.2 are jellybean.... it should be changed to 4.1 BL and 4.2 BL, none referred to as JB.

if you installed root on your device you should have adb and fastboot, right?
if you are on windows(pc) press the windows key + the R key and type cmd in the search box, then press enter now navigate to the adb/fastboot directory on your pc by typing "cd <the location of the file>" then plug in your tablet in fastboot and type " fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash recovery twrp.blob" what does this do? this command flashes twrp over the stock recovery, with twrp you can install custom roms! after you have done this download a rom you like (watch out for bootloader versions! if you are on stock 4.2.1 i would reccomend the latest unofficial AOKP or the latest official cm10.1) if you download a rom you can see it is a zip file, place this zip file on your sdcard and power up your tablet in bootloader by holding volume down + power button till icons pop up! now press the volume up key when the RCK icon is blinking! now twrp should start, now click on wipe and then advanced wipe and wipe system data cache(you don't need to wipe your data if you prefer to keep it!) now go back to the main menu of twrp by pressing the home button in the top right corner, now click install and navigate to the directory you have placed the rom in, after install reboot!
I've a TF300TG but I think my question is associated to the title of this thread. Do I have to note the sku of my Pad or isn't that important when I flash a custom Rom?
In the threads of many custom Roms I've read nothing about the sku. So I'm not sure if I have to take care for this.

OK, first, I am on a MAC. I have "terminal" for CMD lines, so, it should find whatever files I need it to find just as the windows CMD block will.
I have "fastboot and ADB" in a folder on my desktop, I have named the folder "android". I also downloaded the TWRP for 4.2.1 (renamed to TWRP.BLOB). I think I have all the files I require, it's just a matter of what steps to take. I also have the CM 10.1. This is the ROM I would like to use.
I was also reading that using TWRP, I am not supposed to wipe. I guess, theoretically, I want to be able to boot to the original ASUS ROM in case anything goes wrong. Otherwise, I wouldn't have a ROM to boot from.
I'm not sure if everything I am saying is correct, again, I am very new to this and trying to undertand exactly what I am doing.

The fast boot and adb you have are most likely windows files. Not sure if there is fast boot and adb for Mac.

I can TRY to help. I have no mac, never used one, dont know the procedures for getting the drivers and stuff installed on mac. So, im going to assume you have the fastboot drivers installed properly.
NOTE: IF YOU'RE TABLET BREAKS, NEVER TURNS ON AGAIN, OR GOES UP IN SMOKE BECAUSE OF MY DIRECTIONS, IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT AND RESPONSIBILITY NOT MINE. GET OVER IT AND BUY A NEW ONE.....LMAO.... really though, i am helping as best as i can and you always run a risk flashing devices and thats your risk, not mine.... but if you follow my directions exactly, you will be jsut fine and not have a broken device...
First, make sure you're on the latest update from asus. Should be a bootloader ending in 15.3 and android 4.2.1 .
Second, unlock your bootloader. Unlocking the bootloader is quite simple. Download this: http://d-h.st/86c Install it on the tablet and open the app (its a RAR file so it needs extracted first) Follow the directions it gives you, if i remember correctly, you just click yes or something, tablet reboots, and the bootloaders unlocked. If it sucessfully unlocks, when you first turn the tablet on, in the top left corner of the screen, it will say unlocked.
After bootloaders unlocked, turn the tablet off. Power on the tablet by holding the power button and the volume down button at the same time. This will take you into bootloader mode. One quick thing to make sure you are on the latest bootloader. The bootloader screen should have 3 icons to choose from, if it has 4, you are on the old/wrong bootloader and need to go back and update your system before proceeding. If 3 icons, you're good to go, plug the usb cable in the tablet and in your computer.
Download TWRP recovery now. This is the part where you dont wanna screw up, downloading and flashing wrong recovery can equal a broken tablet. Download this exact TWRP recovery: http://diesburg.co/tf300t/twrp/openrecovery-twrp-2.5.0.0-tf300t-4.2.blob
Put that file in the folder where fastboot is.
Now in your terminal/command line, go to the directory where fastboot is. With tablet plugged in and in bootloader mode like mentioned above and terminal in the fastboot folder, type: fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.5.0.0-tf300t-4.2.blob and press enter .... this will flash TWRP recovery to your tablet using fastboot.... if you get something like "waiting for device" in your terminal window after typing this and it never gets past that, thats where i cant help, drivers for fastboot or something isnt right.... if it works, hell yea, onto the next step....
Reboot the tablet, type: fastboot -i 0x0B05 reboot and press enter.... let android fully boot up, copy your ROM to your tablet and dont forget the gapps package for the rom..... now turn the tablet back off......
power the tablet back on like before holding power button and volume down.... once in here, RCK will already be highlighted, if its not, use your volume down key to get it highlighted... once highlighted, hit volume up and this will boot the twrp recovery you flashed......
Once in TWRP, (FIRST DONT FORGET CLICK BACKUP AND MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR CURRENT ROM!!!) now, make sure you can see your cyanogenmod rom file and gapps by clicking install and going to the ocation where its at, if you see the 2 files, click the back button to the main screen.... on the main screen, click : Wipe, then click factory reset.....after that, go back to the wipe screen, and click system to wipe the system partition..... now go back to the main screen again....
Click install, then click to install the cyanogenmod rom.... after it installs, install the gapps package.... after that, you SHOULD be good to go, reboot the tablet by clicking reboot to system.....
I think that covers everything..... now in the future for flashing other roms, always wipe before flashing and flash the roms the same way you did this one.... just so you know, not ALL roms require gapps package.... most specify whether they do or not....
Any problems, let me know unless its the "waiting for device" thing, i cant help with mac drivers, someone else will have to

for a custom rom, as far as i know, yes
but for just root on stock rom i believe theres ways to root stock without unlocking the bootloader

I simply cannot seem to get the MAC to do this. I just don't know what command lines to use in the "terminal". I am amazed that no one has flashed their tablet with a MAC.
Anyone who has done this with a MAC, please drop a line if you can. I would really like to get this done if at all possible.
I am unlocked, I get all the way to the "flash" commands, and then it seems to not want to cooperate.

I wanted to close out this thread and thank everyone who jumped in to try to assist me. I was not able to flash my tablet, nor get the Cyanogen mod loaded. Not sure why, but, as I try to load TWRP, I get a "permission denied" error.
Eventually, I will get my hands on a windows computer and give this another shot. But, it should have worked on my MAC as easily as anything else. Not sure exactly what I am doing wrong, but, my tablet is working just fine so, I know I did not "mess" anything up (YAY).
If someone has been able to "flash" and put a custom rom on their ASUS Transformer using a MAC computer, please get with me and let's chat!

not sure exactly how a mac works but i believe its some sort of linux. can you by chance start the terminal with "administrator" priveleges or type "su" in the terminal to get root priveleges? Just my thoughts with a "permission denied" error, you dont have administrator/root access.
In that link i shared above about mac and fastboot, it says to use " ./ " in front of every command. So try the fastboot commands i said above to flash the recovery but do it with ./ infront like this: ./fastboot flash commands

My tablets boots in "fastboot", I just can't seem to get the flash done. At this point, I am not so sure I could be more lost. LOL!

In the steps I told you above. The part where you do the fastboot commands in the terminal. "fastboot flash 0x(somenumber) recovery twrp.blob"
put a ./ in front of the fastboot command... so its "./fastboot flash 0x(thatnumber) recovery twrp.blob"

My infinity just passes its warranty and it is in newest stock firmware and not rooted. I think it is too slow and laggy and i would like to make some change by flashing new rom. As i know, the newest firmware .10 can not be unlocked and flash rom? So do i have to downgrade to .8 to make it work?

You don't have to downgrade.
After you unlocked your tablet, you can push a custom recovery through ADB or fastboot and use that custom recovery to flash a custom rom.
If you use this method you bypass rooting the stock rom altogether. Every custom rom is rooted already.

Unlocking and rooting are two different things. There is no known root method at this time for the 10.6.1.14.10 firmware. The Unlock Tool should still work.
I don't think it's a question which firmware you have - sometimes it works like a charm and other users cannot unlock at all due to incorrect or incomplete S/N database on Asus servers. At least I have not heard anything that people have trouble unlocking after the last update.
Just download the latest version, v8 I think, install and run it. The worst that can happen is it fails.
Do yourself a huge favor and educate yourself thoroughly before you try to flash custom software to the tablet.
There is little risk in flashing a custom rom IF you do it right. But yesterday night I tried to help someone who did it wrong and hard bricked his tablet. Read 3 times, ask twice, flash once!

For flashing via adb and the staging partition, Android must be rooted. Fastboot works without root.
I did a clean wipe of my tablet and installed 10.6.1.14.10 onto my tablet.
I have unlocked the bootloader, but when booting up I then have the default recovery and rom supplied by Asus with no root.
I tried motochopper and debugfs method, and as described above neither work, the cmd prompt windows just record failures.

The way I gave root to the stock rom was by loading into fastboot mode and pushing a twrp image to my tablet off CHROMI rom site. I then used that to root the system. To be honest I did not need to root as I could have just then flashed the CHROMI custom rom which comes with SU anyway....
Get fastboot into a folder and also copy the TWRP recovery img inside the fastboot folder
Attach your device to the PC
Start fastboot mode by switching off your tablet then switching on in bootloader by holding down power on and volumn down
Connect tablet to PC (need approperiate drivers)
Open cmd prompt as admininstrator and goto directory with recovery image in the fastboot folder
Type the following commands:
fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot -i 0x0B05 reboot (though I don't think i typed this if honest, struggling to remember)
Unplug tablet from the PC and reboot into recovery mode
If you got the image of twrp from CHROMI site which includes bootloader also, i think it includes SU, therefore just exit and close recovery and it should ask to install SU. Select yes
Reboot the device
Your device is now rooted, though think you need to run SU in the tablet to get it fully setup.
Sorry this is not 100% perfect, I will recall what I did tonight when at home in front of PC with files.

I'm quite a Noob around here as you can see and I've the same problem.
My TF700 has the build : US_epad-10.6.1.14.10 and the Android version : 4.2.1
I followed the instructions from this thread and now my tablet is unlocked.
I want to flash it to run under the last version of Cromi and I've read the instructions :

You can try to install from your system, not stock recovery. You need to boot your system normally and look in the lower right corner at your notification. It should notify you that their is an update for you. When you click on it, it will walk you through the update process. You need to make sure that you have only one zip file in your directory which is the Asus firmware that you want to update.
You can also use fastboot to install the TWRP. I don't think you need to root to install a custom recovery by using fastboot if you already unlocked your bootloader. IMO, I think fastboot is easier and faster than motochopper because of rooting process...

It worked and I've now TWRP installed ! :victory:
But it wasn't so easy, fortunately there's plenty of help around here
I'll write here quickly how I did it, it could help someone, who knows, sharing doesn't hurt, even if I'm sure there's plenty of different methods to do it.
I found some help in this guide because the explanation under "Download - Recovery Image / Fastboot Method:" from the TWRP page is a bit rough for a beginner like me.
First I need to mention that I've Windows XP on my computer.
As you can read here there's 3 different ways to install TWRP on the TF700, the first one is the easiest one, but you need to be root, if you're unrooted like me and you want to skip rooting, let's install TWRP via fastboot.
Requirements :
- Bootloader must be unlocked. Very easy following this thread.
- ADB and Fastboot must be installed on your computer. You can follow this guide, this way you'll install them from the latest version of Android SDK and avoid any trouble.
- You should have the USB driver for your TF700 installed on your computer. I've read multiple times that that the official drivers could create some trouble, and indeed it happened to me. So you can give a try, and if this doesn't work, let's go for the Universal Naked Driver.
- Download the last version of TWRP (the newest .blob file) from here. Rename it to twrp.blob and place it under C:/Android (or C:/Android-adb, depending how you've rename your folder containing adb and fastboot.exe).
Fastboot method :
- Before starting, you want to be sure that your computer recognize well your tablet, otherwise, you'll follow a tutoriel like me, enter the final command, press enter and watch... nothing ! just a prompt command blinking in front of you, because if the script don't find any device, it will just write nothing.
To be sure of that, turn on your TF700, Plug it to your computer via a USB cable, then enable USB debugging (Tap the Build Number 7 times under Settings, About Tablet and it will show up under Dev Settings).
Now, if you're under WinXP like me, it may be possible that the pc doesn't recognize well your tablet, and you'll probably have to play with your device manager (to go into your device manager right-click on My Computer and click Properties, In the System Properties window click the Hardware tab, In the Hardware tab click the Device Manager button then look for your device, click on it, uninstall drivers, then reinstall the naked driver mentioned before for example). You may find some help here or around here in the forum.
Once you think your tablet with USB debugging enabled is well recognized by your computer, try to open a command prompt (First, press Win + R to launch the Run dialog, then enter “cmd” in the dialog box) and type “adb devices” (without quotes). The daemon will start up, and all connected devices will be listed. If your device shows up, let's continue to next step, otherwise, you should continue to play with uninstalling drivers, reboot, installing others drivers...
- Turn off & Unplug your device.
- Enter fastboot mode : Keep pressing the Power button while holding the Volume down button till the screen responds then
1) If you have an old bootloader select USB icon, press Volume up button.
2) If you have the new 4.2.1 boot loader it automatically boot into usb mode, it should be written in the upper left corner something like this :
The Device is UnLocked.

Starting Fastboot USB download Protocol
I didn't know that and I found some answer here and here.
- Plug the TF700 to your computer via a USB cable. (and make sure no other android devices is connected to the computer)
- Open a command prompt in your computer (First, press Win + R to launch the Run dialog, then enter “cmd” in the dialog box).
Just to be sure (one more time) that your device is well recognized by the computer type “fastboot devices” (without quotes).
You should see at least one line with some numbers written.
Then, change the working directory of the command window to the directory where you had placed the TWRP recovery file (twrp.blob) using the command “cd directorylocation” without quotes (probably, “cd c:\android“).
Then, in the command prompt, enter the command: fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash recovery twrp.blob
After the process finishes, You can unplug and reboot your tablet.
- Normally the TWRP recovery is now installed on your device !
To check that enter recovery mode : Boot with "power + vol down" then after the splash screen put "vol up". You should see that image, cool right ?
I don't take any credit for this quick explanation because I took all the informations from this forum (and from different other websites) and gathered them together for my own case, but I think this may help others.

You can add these command for fastboot to your list instead of using the power button and volume down..

I am attempting to install a ROM on my Transformer Infinity as it pretty much sucks these days but am a complete NOOB. Have never attempted this with any of my phones or tablets, but figure I would try since these directions are so detailed. After following most the steps you have listed, I get the error below in the command prompt. Can someone please help, I tried searching XDA and Google to no avail. If possible please be as basic and speak in layman's terms b/c all this technical jargon goes right over my head. Thank you in advance!!!

Don't know if you cut and paste the error message or typed it up. But what I notice is that you named the recovery file .blop
It should be .blob
Another step to avoid simple errors: Place the recovery.blob file into the same directory with your fastboot file.
Right click in that directory to open a command prompt and then execute the command
fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash reccovery twrp.blob

Actually yes.
Just read in another thread about someone having the same problem as you, getting the incorrect file size error.
Download the TWRP 2.5 blob and try it with that file. I have no idea why, but TWRP 2.6 may cause this error.
At least that bloke got the recovery installed that way. Once you have TWRP, it's easy to upgrade to the latest version.

The blob for TWRP 2.6.3 is bigger than the recovery partition. 2.6.1 should work.

Ive had the same question as the OP, i also have a .10 version, i have a US sku, and i downlaoded said associating item but when I went but when i go to either do it with sd, or intewrnal sd, or how ever. through manual or through android, either method both resulted in error when trying to downgrade, i dont know if its because its a downgrade or what.
Ive some linux experience over the years, and have rooted and run custom roms in the past. im trying to achieve the same as the OP, fix my lag, and more options and tweaks.
I have the .zip of the rom i want whitch i found I liked the xcromi rom, so I downloaded it. so, i can put that in and name it what and how do i do the update than through the volume down + pwr combo into that menu? (not sure what its called) but i can't do sideloads because i can't havbe the ultity to sideload without rooting and i can't root with .10, so i have been trying to get past this single step all night and this morning now.

Thanks for posting this guide. It doesn't do a perfect job however on the TF700t running Android build 10.6.1.14.10. Tried to use the "fix permissions" option in ROM Manager but failed due to insufficient permissions. I installed CWM Superuser and cleaned up the version of SuperSU (prefer Superuser anyhow)... updated the binaries and still no love when trying to correct the permissions, despite all tests showing the device fully rooted.
After a day of pulling my hair out I finally came across vRoot and after even longer found a guide in English. Ran that, again swapped out the Superuser that went with vRoot and again reinstalled Superuser. Used Ti to install as system app. After reboot ROM Manager was finally able to correct permissions and all is golden again.

My Transformer has 10.6.1.14.10 and I am trying to install TWRP thru fastboot as per "M1ster" instructions.
these are the results I see from my command prompt.

after I reboot and select RDK , i get the sick droid error,
I feel like I have missed something, hopefully somebody can point me in the right direction

Your "twrp.blob" apparently doesn't contain a recovery - it should be around 6 to 8 MB.
