Question about JB and ADW Launcher - Samsung Infuse 4G

I've been having this problem with ADW Launcher EX and the JB rom which before made me switch back to CM9. Now that I actually want to stick with JB (since I can now mount the external SD card) I need to figure out why this is happening.
What happens is that only the home page that my phone is on when adw launcher loads will show the icons correctly the rest shrink them down. Here is an image http://i.imgur.com/wqxRD.png
What I've noticed is I can still use the apps if I touch where they are supposed to be (If I click in the top left corner then the folder with my games still opens.) Does anyone else have this problem or know what's going on? I've searched through the adw options and can't seem to figure it out. It only happens on CM10 though.

I believe your problem is just a compatibility issue between adw and jb. You are probably going to have to consider switching to another launcher.

Yeah I thought that might be it. I might uninstall adw for now and just wait for it to update.

I've used adw with jb and haven't had any issues. You need to go into the adw settings and change a few settings.
I forget which ones. But you can change their sizes, placement, column & rows, ect.
I'm planning my escape from the digital world!

Cyanogen 6 on HTC Dream - Home screen SLOW!

Hey guys,
I loaded CM6 on my Rogers HTC Dream the other day, and I've noticed some serious delays when going back to the home screen from certain apps.
In the Cyanogen Performance settings, I have "lock home to memory" enabled, but I still occasionally get some serious lag on the home.
Basically, I leave an app and when the home screen loads, there are no apps, no widgets, and the bottom task bar doesn't even load the shortcuts. It just shows "LAB" and "RAB" and the main button. It takes quite a few seconds until it finally loads. During this time, you also can't scroll or anything, it's basically just frozen.
Any ideas on how to fix/improve this?
Also, would you guys recommend sticking with the ADW or going over to Launcher Pro? I heard LP might be quicker on the G1?
Thanks

Do you have compcache or swap enabled?
Also Launcher Pro is a lot smoother on the G1 than ADW, but it also uses more memory.

Where do I enable compcache and swap?
Also, do you think that LP would still be faster despite the memory hogging?
Thanks

Well, I would say go ahead and try it. Then remove ADW Launcher altogether once Launcher Pro is installed.
Also you can go to settings/cyanogenmod settings/ performance settings/ Use Compcache should be checked if you want compcache. Also Lock Home in Memory should be checked.

Downloaded Launcher Pro, and removed ADW. Seems a bit smoother.
Still getting lag going to the home screen though.
Any suggestions?

With his tutorial, my CM6 with ADW is running just as fast as the 1.6 Rom I reverted back to after using CM6 before.
Try Zeam launcher. It's less bloated than ADW and Launcher Pro.
I had the same problem after upgrading to CM6. Definitely install swap and firerat's all in one.
Pretty much follow this guide:

I am pretty much in the same situation,
I went with LauncherPro, now can someone post the command how to remove ADW with ADB.
I have ADB running, but I am a newbie in commands.
Thx.
The CM slowdowns and reboots are not bugs, they're features! CM builds have so much linux and so little Android under them that they'll eventually force you to get a real life.
Hey, look at that! You posted in the wrong section!
Is there any way to uninstall CM6 and go back to my stock Android?

As anyone would tell you:
Yes there is a way to go back to stock, but it is easily searchable. Please do a bit of research and you'll have your answer.

this is the Fro-Yo OTA for the mytouch 3G. They made it flashable for the g1 and it runs SO MUCH SMOOTHER than CM 6.

[Q] Launcher Pro vs ADW Launcher ...

Nexus S with CaynogenMod 7 Nightly #16
i used Launcher Pro (Paid) on may HTC Desire (stock and custom roms) on my Nexus S the Launcher Pro seams a bit ... slow? buggy? sometimes it crashes ... now i use the ADW Launcher included in the CaynogenMod 7 but its feels the same ... its slow and somtimes it doesnt work ... then i have to wait a bit and its working again ...
i dont make any mods so it cant be the problem ...
does anyone has the same problem? is there a way to fix that?
Maybe has something to do with the nightlies. Ive used both launchers on my stock ns and have never had a fc or lag.

it has the best of both ADW and LauncherPRO plus & way more
it's fast, and it's free

Launcher Pro and ADW Ex are kind of choppy. No, it's not just my phone, I've had 3 nexus S's and it's all the same. My N1 and Vibrant both had buttery smooth Launcher Pro animations, but not the Nexus S. I can get it close if I use a 1.4 or 1.5ghz overclock kernel... but I don't want to do that just for the launcher lol.
I'll try Go Launcher... but I'm still skeptical it can be as smooth.
I just noticed my first ever issue with lp: I sometimes scroll through my docks when I'm not paying attention but this time I noticed that while scrolling to the left at high speeds it would occasionally show a blank dock in between. So I did what I do whenever I find a bug: I repeated it over and over seeing how often I could reproduce it. Then all of a sudden my dock just flat out disappeared. I restarted lp and it came back. Sort of. It only showed one of my two docks (the one to the right). Only a full reboot brought back both. If this happens again it might be a reason to switch but typo what I don't know :/

Go Launcher EX is pretty damn fast and doesn't ask for all those permissions the original one had. Although, there are still some bugs on there for the Nexus S that I've experienced.
1. When pressing home on a different screen, the screens disappear. Home has to be pressed again for it to take me to the main home screen.
2. When rotating from portrait to landscape, sometimes the dock is misplaced.

2) never had that problem
1) yes, only happens in SNS, it doesn't do it on my other phones
work around is to NOT USE the setting for Home+Preview, set the Home button either or, just not both

Just saw that there was an update and it fixed the home button issue. Other than that, this launcher is great. Much faster when rotating from portrait to landscape and other stuff.
Moved to Q&A
ok ... i tryed the following:
i deleted the ADWapk ... now the system is running better with Launcher pro ... maybee this 2 launcher dont like each other ...
problem is ... with the next update the ADWlauncher is back again or not?

[POLL] Best Tablet Launcher? (OLD - Non ICS)

Simple poll for you guys, just want to know some pro's and con's of each launcher and how well each functions on the tablet.
I have tested most of these on my SGS II but have only been using the stock one on my Transformer.
SO what are you guys using?
Stock. Tried all of the other three and keep coming back to stock. Just seems so much cleaner and quicker.
ADW is smooth, but it's confusing with all it's options and settings. It took me some time to find the settings that work best for me. Definitely works for me as I haven't tried other launchers.

Agreed. The nontablet launchers are too odd on tablets and ADW Ex just seemed a little off.

Stock for me, hopefully with ICS we will get something like Nova Launcher, I love it on my Nexus, just ike stock with more options
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda premium
ADWex for me, it has it's issues but once you get past them and merge it with
multi-picture live wall paper and simple text it's really quite nice. Just wish they would optimize it more for tablets.
ADW has way more options but with the latest Revolver build, I have started migrating back to stock (re aranging all my apps and stuff) because it uses up less memory and feels pretty damn smooth with default settings. Still, if you want to choose everything and run live wallpapers with little or no lag, ADW EX is a better launcher.
Im surprised more people dont use GO Launcher, its a great launcher, i use it on my SGS II
I use Go Launcher as well. I use it on my ZTE Warp, Herotab C8, and the TF101. I have used ADW and other launchers, but keep coming back to Go Launcher. It's just so versatile and easy to use. The addon's make it worthwhile also.
Stock
For me Stock on the Transformer seems very smooth and seamless, no reason to switch it up. However with other tablets I did like to use VTL
I have tried stock / pro launcher / go launcher / regina / spb shell 3d / adw ex
Out of all of the above i like adw ex it is the quickest most durable launcher i have used.

Add one for Stock, I have tried the others and they don't seem like they are meant for tablets. The only thing I miss is adjustable widgets. Other than that, stock seems like it just works. I do wish we had more options to manipulate the app drawer, and maybe a dock. Other than that....

Yeah i love the stock launcher but want more options like trebuchet or nova. any way to port these to honeycomb?
Stock!
Agree that all others are a bit confusing, but still, saw beautiful screen from people using them.
ADW ex is my choice for those that want to tweak.. it's not quite as smooth as the Stock Launcher, but its the best alternative.

Are you new to tweaking??
I have ADW EX as the default system launcher, apk in /system/app/ and killed the stock one its way way faster than stock and can be kept simple or really complex plus it doesnt seem to slow down as much with widgets unlike stock and is a smaller size launcher than stock.
Sent from my tf running krakd warped an twisted 1544mhz Blades kernel
The only tablet optimized launchers are Stock and ADW ex launcher, Go launcher, Launcher pro and the others are still designed for mobile phones. Mainly because they have that stupid dock that can't change orientation. At least ADW ex has the option to remove it and or make it better.
ADW EX Launcher is my choice at the moment. I've tried:
Stock - Not enough customization options available, especially the option to resize widgets
SPB 3D - Very impressive looking and much more suited for tablets than for phones (in my opinion), but didn't seem to work properly with MultiPicture Live Wallpapers. Can't seem to be able to make each screen with a different wallpaper. Gave up on it and went back to ADW EX.
Regina - Good, but not great and still has the same lag that I experienced when I tried it on my phone too.
So ADW EX seems to be my most successful. Any others out there that are just as friendly with customizations, and provide a smooth, mostly lag-free launcher experience???? If so, let me know...
I use iLauncher at the moment. Try using it with custom icons. Its simple, clean and superfast, except for the swipe to the "Search" page.
Greetings
I used ADWex for a while. I ended up uninstalling it trying to isolate an issue causing the system to lag. The lag went away, though I have no idea for sure if it was ADW or something else.
After going through a ton of different ADW configs, I found I just didn't have enough reasons to run it. What I really wanted was the expandable folders, and I found using the stock launcher with CircleLauncher widgets did a good job of bundling my icons into groups...

I'll probably stick with this until ICS comes out, and then see what is out there.

TWLauncher Problem

Hi all, need some help.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 and the following error appear sometime.
TWlancher (process.com.android.laucher) has stopped unexpectely.
How can I fix that.
Appreciate.
Sorry if this seems like a flippant response, but ditch the stock Touchwiz launcher and try Go Launcher HD. It doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles like cute scrolling animations and whatnot, but it's really smooth and clean looking.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.go.launcherpad
It made my Tab experience much better, and doesn't have the bloat or odd behavior of something like ADW EX launcher.
I had the same issue, TW Launcher would constantly force close.
This started to happen after I was installing a bunch of apps at once and trying to remove widgets from the home screen. I ended up having to do a factory reset and installed Go Launcher as soon as I got the tablet up and running again.

GoLauncher HD = Best thing ever! Unfortunately though on the TAB version (HD) of the Go Launcher you can't sort apps inside folders ?!
I like Go Launcher EX way better on the Note. You can move apps inside folders around just like on iPhone!
I'm having a recent problem with GoLauncher. I've got it set to run as default but every time i check TWLauncher is also running. This is driving me nuts! Any help? BTW, not rooted yet.

I dont understand this problem with stock launcher!!

This isnt a new problem but something carried over from ICS. However given the immense performance improvements throughout the system this one is just surprising.
The home screen navigation on the stock launcher is just blocky. Every now and then I have to swipe my thumb twice or thrice to get to the next homescreen. There is no lag or stutter it's just that the phone doesnt recognise my swipe as a significant one so doesnt move to the next screen.
Now the thing is that this is not an issue at all with APEX launcher which just doesnt make sense to me how come a third party launcher is faster than stock launcher? Have you guys felt this problem?
The stock launcher has a 'bounce-back' effect. Which makes it look blocky. At least that's what I noticed.
Apex has an option to enable/disable that. But that doesn't mean it's faster or slower, it just looks that way.
And actually most 3rd party launchers are supposed to be faster, or better in some aspects or else we wouldn't install them.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Ya I figured it is some "effect" instead of an inherent performance problem. Too bad there is no way to disable it without changing launcher and also the galaxy nexus didnt seem to have this issue or effect whatever it is.
