As stated above, do not post questions in Development.

Thanks, Invisiblek already informed me of this.

Just did this this morning and worked. Otherwise like others posted in the thread you have to dual boot and use Windows until Heimdall gets fixed.

[Q] Just bought an OTAed phone from CL, which root method for root, s-off, and etc?

Hi Guys,
I just bought an Inspire off of Craigslist. The guys said he had updated or OTAed the phone. I wanted to know which root method or guide should I use for root, s-off, and even sim-unlock, if possible?
Here's the info on it:
Android Version: 2.3.3
HTC Sense Version: 2.1
Build Number: 2.47.502.7 CL93396 release-keys
Software Number: 2.47.502.7
What is the best, easiest method to get this bad boy rooted ? Thanks for your help!
I used the Ace Hack Kit and was rooted in under 15 minutes. Just make sure to read and follow the directions.

Hack Kit Thread - this is the only option available to root the GB OTA update
Make sure you read the effen manual, a few times. attn1 has made the process almost idiot proof, but if you run into issues you can hop in their IRC from the link in the OP of that thread
Folks, thanks for your responses, I appreciate your help.
I am not new to Android, been a proud owner of the DInc, EVO 4G, HD2 w/ Android on NAND, EVO 3D, and now the Inspire 4G. In all of those other communities and rooting methods, apparently builds and versions of Android mattered, and appropriate tools remedied the appropriate versions, thus I asked.
So please, there is no need to be upset. I didn't ask HOW TO Root, I asked what solution to use, cause apparently in the stickies, I saw two.
Thanks for the warm welcome, please look forward to more questions and thanks for supporting the community!

Welcome and I hope you enjoy your stay. The Inspire is a great device, I'm sure you'll love it as much as we do.
FWIW, I too get sick of the snarky, self righteous responses ppl make to a question.

You can't use cwm with this phone only the recovery and you should already have if your rooted.

I've been there so I'll help you out. Just follow the instructions on the following 2 YouTube vids:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MZV9MPr-4I&list=UUUKQzwuURouARj0mfMBBsig&index=3&feature=plcp
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5zoQxUOJgI&feature=BFa&list=UUUKQzwuURouARj0mfMBBsig
They're not the best videos but they get the job done...at the end you will be rooted and have the red CWM installed.

Wrong, if a person uses super one click to root it just gives you root access no custom recovery.

Eww, asking a noobie questions plus posting on the development thread. Will a moderator be my angel!
Anyways so you don't have to spam our forums with non-sense, follow this guide to the point. DON'T ever trust YouTube videos for hacking your phone, I learned that the hard way. The only true place to hack your phone is right here in XDA Forums.
My job here is done and thread reported.

What is a good ROM?

Hi, I am currently using a Samsung Galaxy S2 (SGH-T989) for T-Mobile and I might be switching to Verizon and getting the Samsung Galaxy S3. I rooted my S2 and installed the Jedi Mind Trick only a week ago and love it. I had no lag or issues other than an app or 2 crashing. Basically, I want to see what everyone is using for this phone and carrier (Verizon/SG3)...Is there a ROM called the Jedi Mind Trick here for this S3 on Verizon?
Thanks in advance...
Wrong section and there are already numerous threads asking for ROM recommendations.

Development section is only for ROM and kernel release threads. Your question thread should have gone in the Q&A section. Plus there are already quite a few threads asking for ROM recommendations or what ROMs people are running. Search the general and Q&A sections a little and you will find the threads and perhaps get an idea of what ROM you might want to run based on the responses in those already existing threads.

1) wrong section.
2) how hard would it be to look in the development threads and look to see if that ROM is available? The search button really was created for purpose not just looks .
but this phone is great, you'll love it, and there are a number of wonderful ROMs to choose from.

10 yrs I didnt know squat but Windows, today I dont even use windows because of forums and help. I just want to get away from the Google OS on the android and try another system. As for the lijnk I thank you. I am off the next 2 days I will attempt. I am probably more scared of things going wrong during the process.:good:

My point wasn't that your question was stupid, I just found funny how you (intentionally or not) got my attention with your title and your first post, then asked the question you wanted. It reminded me of some rhetorical strategy I used, and the fact you used it without knowing, and that it worked on me made me laugh. I got the taste of my own medicine lol.
If I mocked every newbies that ask questions here it would've made no sense because I've through all of this before.
Have a good one
