I'm using matr1x's v22.5 jb kernel with slimbean. Whenever I try to change the CPU speeds my phone reboots and the settings are not saved. Does anyone know why this is? I've tried changing them with ROM toolbox pro and nstools but both did the same thing.

Yeah I don't have that here... try it with setcpu too though.
Sent from my Nexus S
Will do. Might I note everything becomes unresponsive before restarting.
Sent from my Crespo using xda app-developers app
Yeah no crap like that here... try setcpu or reflash kernel.

Don't have any money for setcpu unfortunately, but I did manage to get my min CPU set to 200 but I can't change the max CPU. I felashed the kernel, too.

Are you trying to underclock? Don't.
So setting my MX CPU to 800 would not be a good idea? I'm trying to do everything I can to preserve my battery life.

Actually you will be able to underclock in my next release without any problems because I've included the bug fix for that... for now you can run it at 1Ghz.

i have encountered same problem several times due to NSTool did not automatically change the kernel's default settings.
but sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't , how strange is it ... can't really figured it out...
however, it doesn't actually caused problem just little annoying
---------- Post added at 12:54 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:53 AM ----------
setCPU , why don't you just use NSTool ? it's free and more usable...

Is there a custom kernel with overclocking options included???
Tegrak Overlock keeps on closing when I try to activate 1.1 mHz.
Try uninstalling and reinstalling Tegrak. I have been able to use it on any ROM that I have used so far
Yup it worked. Thanks man!

I'm getting the same issue where it force closes when I hit apply. I uninstalled and reinstalled and it still does the same. Oddly enough, it says "watching stability up on my notification bar".

Boot into recovery after uninstall and clear cache before reinstalling. there might be some residual in the system that needs to be cleared before reinstalling. I had to do that on other apps that were refusing to update from the market.

Are you using the paid version or?
If you have the paid version I have a 1.2ghz overclock profile with undervolt i can post up. It gives real nice battery life with a good performance boost =) All you have to do is put it on your sd in tegrak/overclock then choose it from your profile menu in tegrak to set, then choose scaling as on demand and io scheduler as deadline. let me know! And if THAT crashes your phone idk what to tell you because I've been using it for a while now XD

I don't see why you'd want to run with a min higher than 192MHz. Is there a reason?

Only reason is that's the default for the script I'm running. Plus phone does go into deep sleep anyways when idle/screen off
so you under clock it what's a script?

Yea just download the kernel and script. Go into cwm and clear cache but not the factory reset one the one below it. Then go to advanced and clear dalvik.
Now you install kernel zip from sd card just like a rom. Then do the same thing for the script

Min 1500 is why your battery's draining so fast. With that, you're constantly keeping your phone clocked that high. I have it set to 192 min, 1500 max. Also, make sure to either set it to On Demand or Conservative if you're trying to save life.

Yea i was at over 10 hrs off charger and had 52% left with heavy usage. Went to bed and fell asleep with Google Music streaming all night and phone still was at 10%
I have been having this problem on this phone with all the custom roms. I tried different combinations of roms and kernels and still no luck. I'm on EB ics. The phone wakes up fine while the charger is connected but if it sleeps while on battery it wakes up to a stuck/frozen screen. I really dont know what is going on.

When you say stuck/frozen screen do you mean an image appears but is frozen or that the phone is frozen and won't show anything? The new EB rom has had some freezing issues when it's come to being used. Also the phone is know to have screen of death issues caused by overheating

Yeah it shows the lock screen but its frozen only the buttons glow. I dont think this is an overheating issue because it does this within minutes of booting up. I notice that when I have music playing it doesnt freeze when I wake it up.

Try giving it more voltage (not all chips are made the same) or setting the minimum frequency to the next highest. 316 MHz on mine using Faux's kernel, but it depends on what you're using.

The free version.
So, on every TW ROM with whatever kernel combination no matter what I set my minimum frequency to, it always bumps it back up to 1020 whenever I go back into whatever app I used to set it with. Even if I just flash a kernel or a ROM and I don't mess with it, I look on CPU Spy and it says it's still set to 1020. Also on CPU Spy it says that it operates in frequencies lower than 1020, so it makes no sense. Anyone know anything about this?

Sounds like you have a benchmark apply or something that is over ridding your setting. I know kt has a lock frequency option, maybe look at others?

Go to the init.d folder and see whats in there and what the settings are. Also do you block mpdecision at boot? What kernel are you using? Try setting your cpu app to delay at boot

It's none of that because it still happens after wiping my phone and everything

Used to happen to me too, i solved it by setting system to mount r/w at boot and using only one app to lock my cpu setting and set that app to delay loading a couple seconds on boot. What app do you usually use to mod you min/max cpu settings?

Did you try force stopping apps that are running in background ? I change my cpu and voltage on mine. if you changed voltage , don't select set on boot and you need to run some apps and you can use a stability test app to see if your phone doesn't freese, restart and is stable.
You can look at this if you want to know about undervolting.
